After hearing news about the latest plot twist in the Mica Francis case, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are taking another look into the day Mica allegedly took her own life in a North Carolina swamp and the mysterious “witness” to her very last moments … who turned up dead last week. The story of Johnnie Jacobs — aka the “fisherman” who heard Mica crying until it was stopped by what he said was a single gunshot — raised a lot of red flags over the past year after he admitted taking Mica's purse, leaving the park and then returning with it to hand over to police. From the start, his story was strange and filled with curious inconsistencies, causing followers of Mica's case to question whether he was connected to Mica's husband, Myrtle Beach pastor and accused child rapist and sexual assaulter John-Paul Miller. On Friday, he died in a two-car crash, leading to the biggest red flag of all … is this evidence that Johnnie Jacobs knew too much? Also on today's episode, Mandy and Liz share updates in the Jane Doe No. 1 case against JP Miller, as well on JP's latest legal loss, after settling with a random woman he sued over nothing. Plus an update on the Christa Bauer case out of Houston, Texas, and her husband (and accused murderer) Lee Gilley's upcoming hearing. Switching gears, Mandy and Liz bring you an important conversation with Karl Stoller, the father of Dallas Stoller, as he shares his frustrations with the justice system's handling of her alleged rapist Bowen Turner and his third parole violation. Karl recounts being silenced at a hearing and expresses his deep concerns about the continued leniency shown to Bowen, a Good Ole Boy with a disturbing pattern of behavior Join us as we shine a "true sunlight" on these troubling cases and the persistent issues plaguing the legal landscape in South Carolina and beyond. This episode is jam-packed with updates... so let's dive in...
John T. Orr is the author of "Analysis of Gunshots in Dealey Plaza." Orr's independent research convinced the FBI to conduct additional testing on JFK evidence as late as 1997. Results were inconclusive, but he suggests that even more testing should be done. On April 17, 1995, John mailed a 72-page report on the final results of my research project to Attorney General Janet Reno. The report proves beyond a reasonable doubt that four shots were fired during the assassination. This episode John is back to discuss an area we briefly mentioned in his first appearance over two years ago which looks more into the mafia connection in the assassination.

I am writing to ask that you please help make this happen. I know that the idea of a government commission focused on helping boys and men sounds strange at first. When you look at the statistics, and you hear the real stories of struggle, though, it becomes clear that a commission on boys and men is indeed warranted and needed. Its work and recommendations will help amplify ongoing efforts to improve outcomes around education, homelessness, incarceration, suicides, mental and physical health, drug and alcohol abuse, family cohesion, and other important issues. If possible, I strongly recommend checking out the work of Richard Reeved and his American Institute for Boys and Men, along with his book Of Boys and Men. I also want to point out that Democratic governors in multiple states have recently used their State of the State addresses to talk about the importance of supporting boys and men – including governors Wes Moore (Maryland), Gretchen Whitmer (Michigan), and Ned Lamont (Connecticut). Thank you for your open heart to care for all Washingtonians, including boys and men, and for looking at what role you can play in bringing about the creation of a Washington State Commission on Boys and Men. This initiative addresses a significant barrier, as many victims delay leaving abusive situations due to concerns for their pets' safety. About 47% of victims hesitate to leave, with 78% facing threats to their pets. The $230,000 project, funded by grants and donations, includes amenities like heating, cooling, and outdoor play areas. To comply with Georgia law, Powder Springs will hold three public hearings before passing a resolution by March 1. The hearings are scheduled for February 3, 12, and 17 at the Patricia C. Vaughn Cultural Arts Center. Today is Friday, January 17th and Happy Birthday to James Earl Jones ***01.17.25 - BIRTHDAY – JAMES EARL JONES*** I’m Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Cobb Student in Critical Condition from Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound Stacey Abrams-founded group fined for 2018 campaign violations 'What We're Doing is Better': Cobb Wants Out of Property Tax Cap Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on budgeting All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA (06.26.24 CU OF GA FREE CHECKING_REV_FINAL) STORY 1: Cobb Student in Critical Condition from Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound A student at Lindley Middle School in Mableton remains in critical condition after a self-inflicted gunshot, marking the third shooting incident in Cobb County schools within a year. The incident prompted a Code Red lockdown, with students later reunited with families at a nearby church. Cobb Board of Education members emphasized the need for mental health focus and parental engagement. Board member Leroy Tre Hutchins advocated for weapons detection in schools, a proposal not yet supported by the board. The district spends about $35 million annually on safety, with additional state funding anticipated. The district's safety measures include partnerships with security firms and a crisis communications center. STORY 2: Stacey Abrams-founded group fined for 2018 campaign violations The New Georgia Project, a nonprofit founded by Stacey Abrams, agreed to pay a record $300,000 fine to the Georgia Ethics Commission for not disclosing $4.2 million in contributions and $3.2 million in spending during the 2018 election cycle. These activities supported Abrams' gubernatorial campaign and included voter canvassing and campaign literature. The fine, the largest ever by the commission, underscores the violation of Georgia's campaign finance laws. Additionally, the organization admitted to not reporting nearly $650,000 in donations and $175,000 in expenditures for a 2019 Gwinnett County transit referendum. STORY 3: 'What We're Doing is Better': Cobb Wants Out of Property Tax Cap Cobb County plans to opt out of a new statewide floating homestead exemption, arguing its current exemption offers greater benefits. Commissioners believe the county's existing exemption, which freezes home values, is more advantageous than the state's cap on taxable value increases. Public hearings will be held before a final decision on February 25. Opting out won't affect the county's general fund, but if they opt in, it could impact the fire fund, potentially leading to a millage rate increase. Cobb joins Marietta in considering opting out, with public input sought before the decision. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. DeJarnett, serving since 2021, emphasized initiatives like a no-phone policy and literacy focus. Hunter, a mother of MCS students and literacy advocate, aims to enhance academic excellence and safety. She also holds roles in the Georgia Press Association and local boards. Jason Waters, former vice chair, is now the board's legislative liaison, while Angela Orange will liaise with the Marietta Schools Foundation to enhance resources for students and staff. STORY 5: Representing America: Diamond D Cowgirls to take part in Presidential Inaugural Parade On January 20, the Diamond D Cowgirls, a precision drill team led by Elizabeth Dabney, will participate in the Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. Known for their synchronized horseback routines, the team will ride in patriotic costumes with American flags. The group, consisting of riders aged 18 to 45 from around Georgia, practices weekly and provides their own horses. The opportunity arose after Dabney applied for the parade, and the team was accepted just before Christmas. They will travel with 18 horses and have received community support for expenses. The Cowgirls will represent the Merchant Marines in the parade. In an effort to curb gun crime, Tacoma announced last year that it was turning to a tool called ShotSpotter. ShotSpotter is a form of Gun Detection Technology (GDT), which uses a series of acoustic microphone sensors to track loud bangs, booms, and pops in a designated area. Once those "dynamic events" are triggered, a human classifier verifies the sound was a gunshot and alerts local police. The entire process happens within 60 seconds or less. The idea is that it’s a faster and more accurate way to alert police to gunshots, compared with relying on 911 calls. That, then, allows police to get to a more targeted crime scene sooner, and have more evidence to ideally solve the crime. SoundThinking, the company that runs ShotSpotter, says the technology has been used in more than 180 cities globally. However, the technology has been controversial in several large cities. Houston’s mayor called ShotSpotter a “gimmick” when he announced plans to scrap the city’s contract. After years of debate over its effectiveness, Chicago ended its use of Shotspotter in September. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell advocated for years for using an acoustic gunshot detection technology in Seattle before backing off his plan to fund a pilot program last year. Tacoma is moving forward with ShotSpotter, thanks to an $800,000 grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. That grant will fund three different kinds of technology aimed at improving the city’s ability to investigate gun crimes. The police department is on the verge of piloting ShotSpotter in a two square mile area around Hosmer Street, in South Tacoma. Tacoma Police told us the city's ShotSpotter rollout is now slated for Spring 2025. But some in the city are concerned about the cost and accuracy of ShotSpotter, and say it might lead to greater police presence and surveillance in communities that have long suffered from over policing. To learn more, Soundside spoke with a group of community advocates who've spoken against the technology at ShotSpotter information sessions in Tacoma; Alfred Lewers Jr., the Senior Director of Trauma Response and Community Engagement at SoundThinking; and Eric Piza, a professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University in Boston who's studied the use of ShotSpotter in major cities like Chicago and Kansas City. Guests: Latasha Palmer, community advocate and board secretary of the Hilltop Action Coalition. Bunchy Carter, minister of defense for the Black Panther Party in Tacoma. Oneida Arnold, long term member of The Conversation 253, a Tacoma and South Sound community group. Alfred Lewers Jr., senior director of trauma response and community engagement at SoundThinking, the company that oversees ShotSpotter. Eric Piza, professor of criminology and criminal justice at Northeastern University in Boston. It's time again for our now-annual Turkey Month, and we're kicking off a November's worth of big budget turkeys with Cutthroat Island, the pirate movie that plundered Carolco of their last remaining doubloons, and sent Geena Davis' career as a swashbuckler off the side of a boat. Joseph Sakran, MD, MPH was a teenager in a small town in Virginia when, in 1994, his life took a dramatic turn. At the age of 17, he was out with his friends after a high school football game when a nearby gunfight broke out and he was struck by a stray bullet in the throat. The bullet, tearing through his windpipe and a carotid artery, brought him to the razor edge of death before he was saved by trauma surgeons. Thirty years later, Dr. Sakran is now a trauma surgeon who serves as Director of Emergency General Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and a vocal advocate of reducing firearm injury through public health initiatives at the state and national levels. Following the 2018 comment by the National Rifle Association that doctors should “stay in their lane” with regard to gun violence prevention, Dr. Sakran started the #ThisIsOurLane movement, mobilizing thousands of health care professionals to advocate for gun violence as a public health crisis. Over the course of our conversation, Dr. Sakran shares his harrowing experience of being shot and what it was like to be confronted with imminent death, how his perspectives on and priorities in life changed after the incident, what goes on in his mind when he operates on victims of gun violence, how he connects with his patients over shared experiences of trauma, how all clinicians can be more empathetic with their patients, and why advocacy is integral to the work of a physician. In this episode, you'll hear about: 2:46 - How a personal tragedy set Dr. Sakran on the path to becoming a trauma surgeon 9:51 - How Dr. Sakran's perspective on life was altered by his personal experience with gun violence13:11 - How Dr. Sakran's experiences informs his approach to speaking with patients and their loved ones during traumatic situations 19:09 - The importance of showing empathy to build rapport with patients and families23:51 - What it is like to tend to victims of violence 29:26 - Addressing the public health crisis of gun violence in America 37:41 - How clinicians can become more involved in advocacy45:32 - Dr. Sakran's advice to future clinicians Dr. Joseph Sakran can be found on Twitter/X at @josephsakran.Visit our website www.TheDoctorsArt.com where you can find transcripts of all episodes. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe, rate, and review our show, available for free on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here are 3 big things you need to know— One — Hundreds of anti-Israel demonstrators set off smoke bombs at a protest in New York City this afternoon. They assembled at Union Square and began marching toward Grand Central Terminal. The protesters demanded a ceasefire in the Israel/Hamas war in Gazas. Two ---- One person is in custody after four sleeping passengers were shot and killed on a Chicago-area train. Authorities say three of the victims died at the scene, while the fourth was pronounced dead at the hospital. Chicago Police were able to locate the suspect on a different train and said a firearm was recovered. The case remains under investigation. And number three — San Francisco 49ers rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall will miss at least the first four games of the NFL season as he recovers from a gunshot wound. The 23-year-old was released from the hospital on Sunday after he was shot in the chest over the weekend during a robbery attempt. The 49ers placed him on the non-football injury list.

Whistleblower, White van, Cremated body, Redacted sign in sheets, Cell phone data, Location of the weapon, Secret Service text messages, Audio of gunshots PROOF of a Second Shooter. Trump's in Trouble! A whistleblower came forward from the Secret Service counter sniper team. He claims that the agency should expect another attempt on Donald Trump's life before the election. He sent an email to the entire Uniformed Division that he will not stop speaking out until “5 high-level supervisors are either fired or removed from their current positions.” So far, the head of the Secret Service, Director Cheatle, has resigned under threat of impeachment. It was just reported on Friday that the head of the Pittsburgh Secret Service field office and several agents have been placed on administrative duties. So, they are no longer in the field. They are holding an HR investigation that is still ongoing. To my surprise, over one month after the shooting, no Secret Service personnel has been fired or reprimanded. Is this whistleblower right to be worried? We're going to take a look, because you are going to be shocked at the facts the main stream media is not telling you about. On a cold day in January 2008, a woman named Judy got out of her car and hustled across the parking lot toward a church. When she reached the side door, she fumbled around in her pocket for the keys. Once she found the right one, she slid it into the lock, but discovered the door was already unlocked. The woman was immediately annoyed, because these doors were meant to stay locked, so clearly someone had forgot to do that. She pushed the door open and right away noticed the church office door on the other side of the building was open a crack. So she walked right over to see who was in there and to remind them to lock the doors. But when she walked into that office, the locked door quickly became the last of her worries...For 100s more stories like these, check out our main YouTube channel just called "MrBallen" -- https://www.youtube.com/c/MrBallenIf you want to reach out to me, contact me on Instagram, Twitter or any other major social media platform, my username on all of them is @mrballenSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
