In other news, Red Dead Redemption is finally getting a current-gen update for Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. The update adds HDR and 4K support, and the Switch 2 version will also support DLSS and mouse controls. The good news is if you already own the PS4/Switch/Xbox One version, you can upgrade for free. Bungie announced they would be delaying Marathon, James and Grant talk about what felt like an inevitability for the extraction shooter. Microsoft also confirmed that they are working on new first party hardware in partnership with AMD, something that sounded like the next Xbox would be more of an AMD product with the Xbox logo on it. In smaller news, the voice actors for some of the biggest characters in Red Dead Redemption 2 are teasing some "exciting news" in the Red Dead universe. Could this be the next gen update James bet Grant on a few episodes ago? Finally, Silent Hill is getting a remake from Bloober Team, the same group that remade Silent Hill 2, and all the Silent Hill fans rejoiced at the news. Can games like "Red Dead Redemption 2" help overcome stereotypes around subjects like history, making them more immersive and relatable? In this episode, we delve deep into the transformative role of video games in education. Our guest, an expert in integrating existing video games elements into learning environments, shares how gamification can make education more engaging and effective.  Tore Olsson is an associate professor of history at the University of Tennessee, where he teaches and researches American history after the Civil War. He is the author of the new book Red Dead's History: A Video Game, an Obsession, and America's Violent Past (Macmillan / St. Martin's Press, August 2024), which uses the fictional content of the Red Dead Redemption games to explore real dilemmas of violence in American history. He's a long-time gamer and believer that games can help teach us big things. Rob is a host and consultant at Professor Game as well as an expert, international speaker and advocate for the use of gamification and games-based solutions, especially in education and learning.
