Why do we size up a rude stranger in seconds and decide they don't belong in our "tribe"? Dr. Benjamin Granger has a term for it: the evolutionary hangover — his phrase for the cognitive biases our brains evolved for savanna survival and never quite retired. As Chief Workplace Psychologist at Qualtrics, Granger spends his days distilling billions of data points on how employees and customers really feel, and in this episode he brings that same lens to his new USA Today bestseller, A Leader Worth Following. The conversation moves from the biological to the deeply practical. Granger traces human speech back only 100,000–200,000 years — a blink in evolutionary time — to explain why we still assume our texts and emails land exactly as intended, and why they so often don't. He and host Peter Winick dig into a favorite (and least favorite) example: the customer satisfaction survey. Whether it's a car dealership coaching you to "circle the five" or a flight attendant joking about the inevitable post-flight survey, Granger shows how well-established science like goal-setting theory gets bent out of shape the moment it collides with real incentive structures. There's also a candid look at what it takes to write a book while holding down a demanding day job — from years of scattered iPhone notes to a publisher's cold outreach that landed within days of deciding to write one. Granger and Winick talk through the tension every corporate thought leader faces: how do you promote your ideas without it feeling like self-promotion? Granger's answer — "I'm selling the message, not myself" — anchors a broader discussion of why academic rigor and real-world readability don't have to be at odds. The episode closes on a personal note: Granger's hope that more leaders will get comfortable with hard conversations with themselves, and a few concrete ways to start — from a two-minute daily reflection borrowed from Marshall Goldsmith to a monthly sit-down with your future self. If you've ever wondered why your best-intentioned message got read the wrong way, or why your company's survey scores don't tell the real story, this one's for you. Three Key Takeaways: • Our brains are running outdated software. Granger's "evolutionary hangover" concept explains why we instantly judge people as "abrasive" or "rude" — a tribal survival instinct that made sense on the savanna but creates friction in modern offices and customer interactions. • Good science can get gamed by bad incentives. Goal-setting is one of the most well-established practices in organizational psychology, but Granger shows how tying compensation to survey scores (like a car dealership's NPS rating) corrupts the very measurement it's supposed to improve. • Selling ideas isn't the same as selling yourself. Granger reframes self-promotion as message-promotion — a mental shift that let him push through years of book marketing discomfort because he believes the underlying research deserves to reach people. Ben isn't the only one turning years of hard-won research into a book built to scale. Bill Sherman, Peter Winick, and Naren Aryal have just released The Thought Leadership Handbook: How the Experts Elevate Their Big Ideas—and How You Can Too — a field guide drawn from more than 700 conversations on this very podcast, mapping out the frameworks and five "thought leadership avatars" that separate an idea stuck in your head from one that actually reaches an audience. If Ben's path from scattered iPhone notes to a USA Today bestseller has you thinking about your own expertise, this is the next book on your list. Get it at thoughtleadershiphandbook.com, or find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop, Apple Books, or Amplify.
Philip Granger returns to the #YVRScreenScenePodcast to discuss Backrooms, the feature-length horror film that enjoyed the biggest global opening weekend in A24's history. Based on Internet lore, Backrooms takes place beyond a hidden doorway discovered in the basement wall of a failing furniture store, in an endless, unsettling dimension populated by office corridors, warped furniture, and echoes of reality. The film is a phenomenal depiction of liminal space, and conveys the thrill and the horror of places in transition. And the fact that the film is set during an especially liminal year – 1989, when the analog world would soon be replaced by a rapidly globalized digital one – and that we in the audience exist at yet another liminal threshold (post-pandemic and hurtling towards a world where AI will exercise even more sway over our lives) makes Backrooms even more thrilling and horrifying. Phil appears in a memorable role as the Meterman, a grounded character who, in Phil's honest and compassionate hands, has garnered fans and inspired artwork around the world. In this fascinating and far-reaching conversation, Phil discusses his journey to and through Backrooms, including working with the exceptionally talented 20-year-old director Kane Parsons. Phil – who is head of the acting faculty at New Image College –also contemplates the changes sweeping the film and television industry, and offers some advice for actors who want to get unstuck. Also: honesty in acting; the importance of enduring friendships; the kids are actually alright; the unexpected lessons of the pandemic.YVR Screen Scene is a division of Fish Flight Entertainment.
Forest inventory and timber cruising provide the information landowners and foresters need to understand what is growing on a property, how much timber is present, and how that timber should be managed or valued. In this episode of Timber University, Dr. Josh Granger from Mississippi State University joins us to discuss the different methods used to measure forests and why a well-designed inventory can be one of the most important investments a forest landowner makes. Dr. Granger is an Associate Professor in Mississippi State University's Department of Forestry, where he teaches dendrology, forest measurements, and forest description and analysis. His work helps students develop the practical skills needed to identify trees, measure forest resources, design timber cruises, and use inventory data to support forest management decisions. In this conversation, we discuss why the purpose of an inventory should determine how it is designed. Dr. Granger explains the differences among fixed-area plots, prism or variable-radius sampling, strip cruises, nested plots, and 100-percent inventories. He also discusses why no single method is best for every situation and how foresters often combine methods to efficiently collect the information needed. We also explain basal area, trees per acre, total height, merchantable height, and the level of precision needed for different types of forestry work. The conversation explores why a diameter measurement to the nearest tenth of an inch may be useful for research, growth monitoring, or carbon accounting, while broader diameter classes may be adequate for some operational timber cruises. The episode also emphasizes the financial importance of obtaining a reliable inventory before buying or selling timber. Without an independent estimate of timber volume, quality, and product composition, landowners may have little basis for determining whether an offer reflects the true value of their timber. Forest inventories can also support property appraisals, timber-basis calculations, casualty-loss documentation, carbon projects, wildlife management, invasive-species monitoring, and long-term assessments of forest growth and condition. This episode is a useful listen for forest landowners, consulting foresters, forestry students, timber buyers, land managers, appraisers, extension professionals, and anyone interested in understanding how forests are measured and valued. This week on the 9941 Podcast, Granger, AntMan, Tyler, and Parker tackle one of the hardest questions a Christian can ask: What does the Bible say about suicide? Together, they explore what Scripture teaches about suffering, depression, hope, spiritual warfare, mental anguish, and the value of every human life. Through passages like Psalm 42, 1 Kings 19, Hebrews 4, and more, the conversation points listeners to the compassion of Christ, the promises of God, and the hope that remains even in life's darkest moments. Whether you've wrestled with these questions personally or you're walking alongside someone who has, this episode offers biblical encouragement, thoughtful discussion, and a reminder that no valley is deeper than the grace of Jesus.Follow the show: Instagram - https://www.Instagram.com/9941thepodcast Facebook - https://www.Facebook.com/9941thepodcast YouTube - https://www.YouTube.com/@9941ThePodcast Online - https://www.9941ThePodcast.com Shop - https://yeeyee.com/collections/faithSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week's episode of the 9941 Podcast explores the difference between cheap grace and costly grace. Granger, Tyler, and Parker discuss repentance, God's holiness, the seriousness of sin, and why true faith produces a life that increasingly pursues Christ rather than excuses sin. Drawing from Philippians 2, Romans 5, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship, the conversation offers a biblical look at grace, forgiveness, and what it means to wage war against sin while resting in the finished work of Jesus. What separates an exciting business idea from an investable opportunity? In this episode of The Money Mondays, Dan Fleyshman sits down with venture capitalist, investment banker and global operator Granger Whitelaw for a wide-ranging conversation about investing, innovation, philanthropy and generational wealth.Granger shares lessons from building companies around the world, helping pioneer early digital-commerce legislation, working with rocket and motorsports ventures, and investing in technologies designed to solve meaningful global problems. He explains the difference between venture capital and investment banking, why the management team matters more than the pitch, and why investors should focus on industries, products and customers they genuinely understand.Dan also breaks down his 40/40/20 investing framework and explains why he prefers backing companies that have already proven demand, developed operating systems and generated meaningful revenue rather than taking the earliest—and riskiest—step with an untested idea. The conversation then turns to giving and legacy. Dan and Granger discuss donor-advised funds, nonprofit organizations, family trusts, life insurance, teaching children about money, and why charitable impact is about far more than writing a check. They close with a powerful discussion about faith, ego and finding peace when financial markets, technology and the media feel increasingly chaotic. This episode is about more than making money. It is about using money as a tool to build, serve and create an impact that lasts beyond your lifetime.Like this episode? Watch more like it

What makes a worship song truly biblical? This week on the 9941 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, Parker, and AntMan tackle one of the biggest conversations in today’s church: should worship songs be chosen for how they make us feel, or for how faithfully they proclaim the gospel? From classic hymns to modern worship music, the guys discuss what Scripture says about singing, why theology in our lyrics matters, and why the “Froot Loops vs. steak” debate might be more important than it sounds. If you’ve ever wondered what makes worship God-centered instead of man-centered, this conversation is one you won’t want to miss.Follow the show: Instagram - https://www.Instagram.com/9941thepodcast Facebook - https://www.Facebook.com/9941thepodcast YouTube - https://www.YouTube.com/@9941ThePodcast Online - https://www.9941ThePodcast.com Shop - https://yeeyee.com/collections/faithSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week Belinda Granger joins as guest co-host, bringing her perspective from inside the commentary box and from her role as pro liaison at Challenge Roth. We spend a big chunk of the episode talking through the 2026 WTCS season with Belinda, covering Beaugrand's continued dominance, Vasco Vilaca leading the men's standings, what Alex Yee's DNF in Quiberon means for the rest of the season, and what it's actually like to call these races up close. Then we get into Ironman Frankfurt, where Casper Stornes backed up his Kona title with a win over Gustav Iden in a race shortened to a 125km bike and a half marathon due to extreme heat, with Antonio Benito Lopez rounding out the podium. The back half of the episode is all Challenge Roth, and with Belinda involved in the race it's about as good an insider preview as you'll get. On the women's side, Lucy Charles-Barclay and Kat Matthews headline as the two to beat. On the men's side, we dig into whether Kristian Blummenfelt can deliver, and where Sam Laidlow and Patrick Lange fit into the picture on one of the fastest courses in the world. It's Thursday, July 2nd, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus British might criminalize speaking Biblical truth on sexuality The United Kingdom may criminalize pastors and parents for sharing Biblical truth on sexuality. The country's Labour government published the Conversion Practices Draft Bill last week. The measure would ban practices aimed at changing a person's so-called sexual orientation or gender identity. Andrea Williams with Christian Concern said, “This bill opens the door to the persecution of parents and pastors through false accusations of abusive conversion practices.” British Parliament is “the gayest” with 75 sexually perverted In other United Kingdom news, outgoing Prime Minister Kier Starmer, an atheist, signaled his support for sexually perverted lifestyles. Listen to his recent comments. STARMER: “I'm really proud that we've got the gayest parliament. I don't think, anywhere in the world. I don't think there's any parliament that is gayer than this parliament. That is fantastic. “The HIV Action Plan is really good to end transmissions by 2030. We've legislated to equalize all existing strands of hate crime and make them aggravated offenses, and again, the announcement through Liv last week, a full trans-inclusive ban on abusive conversion practice. We put an end to those practices.” Indeed, out of the 650 members of British Parliament, 75 of them have sinfully embraced sexual perversion. Isaiah 5:20-23 says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil . . . Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes. … Who justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away justice from the righteous man!” Starmer announced his resignation last month. His Labour Party had just experienced major election losses in May. Canadian Anglicans offer “liturgy” to bless the euthanized Speaking of calling evil good, the Anglican Church of Canada announced a Christian liturgy to bless people being euthanized. The denomination said it would not comment on the morality of assisted suicide. Instead, it authorized clergy to bless people who have chosen it. Canada is considered the euthanasia capital of the world. Tragically, over 100,000 people have died under the country's assisted suicide program. The death push began 10 years ago on June 17, 2016. Planned Parenthood shuts down Iowa City abortion mill Here in the United States, Planned Parenthood will shut down its location in Iowa City, Iowa this month. The abortion giant closed four other facilities in Iowa last year. This leaves only one location in the state. Iowa banned most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy in 2024. And yesterday, a law went into effect that bans mail-order abortions in the Hawkeye State. 78% of Americans favor public school student-led prayer groups A new Pew Research survey found that Americans support religious expression in public schools. Seventy-eight percent of U.S. adults favor allowing students to voluntarily pray in student-led groups. Fifty-seven percent favor allowing coaches to lead their teams in prayer. Fifty percent favor displaying the Ten Commandments in classrooms. And 46 percent favor allowing teachers to lead their classes in prayer. Presbyterian Church in America voted against female deacons The second-largest Presbyterian denomination in the U.S. recently voted against female deacons. Last month, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America met in Louisville, Kentucky. The church body voted resoundingly against a proposal to allow women to serve as ordained deacons. This reaffirmed the denomination's constitutional documents. Those documents state, “The ordinary and perpetual classes of office in the Church are elders and deacons. ... The office of deacon is not one of rule, but rather of service both to the physical and spiritual needs of the people. In accord with Scripture, these offices are open to men only.” Chick-fil-A 92-year-old employee encourages customers A Chick-fil-A employee in his 90s is making headlines for his work ethic and his Christian faith. Gilbert Martin, affectionately known as “Mr. Gil,” has been working at a Chick-fil-A in Wilmington, North Carolina for the last six years. Mr. Gil just turned 92. But that doesn't stop him from working throughout the week. He not only keeps the restaurant clean, he takes personal care of the people who walk in. Mr. Gil told WECT-6 that God has allowed him to be an encourager to people. Listen. MARTIN: “I get a lot of people that are coming in, just going to the doctor, or just been to the doctor, and got bad news, and so forth, and I'm able to be encourager. The Lord gave me that. I don't plan to go anywhere else..” Romans 15:2 says, “Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.” Looking for feedback from Worldview listeners I was surprised not to receive a single email yesterday about what listeners, like you, enjoy about this newscast. “It's okay that you don't want to do the thing that looks so good on paper.” - Julie GrangerSometimes the hardest transitions are the ones that come when everything in your life looks like it's working. The career appears successful. The business is growing. The credentials are there. Other people admire what you've built. And yet, somewhere underneath all of that, there's a quiet sense that something no longer fits. For many midlife women, that realization comes as a surprise and can be quite unsettling. We spent decades learning how to achieve, how to care for others, how to keep moving forward even when things are difficult, but very few of us were taught what to do when the path we worked so hard to create no longer feels aligned. And even fewer of us know how to navigate that uncertainty without immediately rushing toward the next certification, the next goal, or the next plan.In today's episode, I'm joined by Dr. Julie Granger, physical therapist, coach, and founder of Illuminate Freedom Coaching, to talk about life and career transitions, identity shifts, and learning to trust yourself through periods of uncertainty. Julie and I discuss her journey through cancer, entrepreneurship, multiple career pivots, and ultimately building work that feels more aligned with who she has become, the nervous system's relationship with change, why women often stay attached to identities that no longer serve them, the role of community and co-regulation during transitions, financial safety and decision-making, how perimenopause can amplify the inner signals we've spent years ignoring, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!---Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/what-to-do-when-youre-stuck-in-your-life-and-career-with-julie-granger/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/).Find and follow us @integrativewomenshealth on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@integrativewomenshealth) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/integrativewomenshealth/).
What is true revival, and can it be manufactured by people? In this episode of the 9941 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, and Parker tackle a sensitive but important conversation about revival, baptism, and the difference between a genuine move of God and man-made revivalism. Drawing from church history, the teachings of Jonathan Edwards, Charles Finney, and Scripture, the guys explore how God brings spiritual awakening, why language matters, and how Christians can lovingly encourage zeal while remaining grounded in biblical truth. If you’ve ever wondered what revival really means, how God works through His people, and how to discern spiritual movements in today’s culture, this episode offers a thoughtful and Christ-centered discussion. #9941Podcast #Revival #ChristianPodcast #GrangerSmith #FaithInChrist #BiblicalTruth #ChurchHistory #ChristianLiving #Gospel #RevivalismFollow the show: Instagram - https://www.Instagram.com/9941thepodcast Facebook - https://www.Facebook.com/9941thepodcast YouTube - https://www.YouTube.com/@9941ThePodcast Online - https://www.9941ThePodcast.com Shop - https://yeeyee.com/collections/faithSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this message, Pastor James explores the relationship between faith and works in James 2:14-26, addressing a question that has sparked debate for centuries. Using the story of Abraham and Isaac, he explains that good works do not earn salvation but reveal the reality of a genuine faith. Pastor James distinguishes between being declared righteous by God and growing in righteousness through a life of obedience, showing how faith becomes visible through action. He challenges listeners to move beyond a passive belief and live in a way that makes the character of Jesus tangible to the people around them.Subscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Visit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.com—About Riverview ChurchRiverview Church is a multi-venue church based in Lansing, Michigan, where we invite everyone to know and enjoy Jesus as we stumble together in our pursuit to love like Him. There is a lot in this show. Arthur discusses some of Dad's health problems in his corner leading to discussions about movies he's been watching with Dad, including most recently Big Fish. (It's arguably Tim Burton's best movie) then we get into talking about the celebration that is Jineteenth which leads us to discussing how Abraham Lincoln wound up in the Wrestling Hall of Fame as the inventor of the choke slam and how a guy with a variety store sold souvenir fake confederate bills that helped crash the southern economy. After that we talk about Juneteenth, how it was the celebration of the moment that General George Granger and the Union troops arrived in Galveston on June 19th, 1865; the most remote part of America at that point and announced among other things General Order number 3 which told the people of color in Galveston that they were free. That they had been free since the Emancipation Proclamation. It became a celebrated holiday in Texas and from there grew out to the rest of the country where it was made a national holiday in 2021. . And we cover it all in this episode.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/family-plot--4670465/support.
What do you do when the worst thing imaginable happens — and you're left questioning everything you thought you believed? This week we're bringing back one of our most powerful conversations ever, and it hits even harder now. Nine-time Emmy winner David Sams sat down with Granger Smith — award-winning, platinum-selling country music artist turned New York Times bestselling author and minister — five years after the tragic drowning death of his three-year-old son, River. In this raw, honest conversation, Granger opens up about the 10 minutes he performed CPR on his little boy, the guilt, the grief, and the moment he realized fame and music had quietly become more about him than about God. So he walked away from it all. He also shares the beautiful story behind his youngest son Maverick's name — and why without losing River, Maverick wouldn't be the miracle he is today. This encore comes at the perfect time: Granger's new book Poison in the Well: 11 Toxic Beliefs That Kept Me from the Living Water of Jesus drops September 8, 2026 — and it's already generating serious buzz. It digs into the doubts that hit after loss, asking the question: "What if everything I believe about my faith was actually built on shifting sand?" If Like a River wrecked you in the best way, this one goes even deeper. Whether you're in a dark season, questioning your faith, or just hungry for something real — this episode is for you.
Could aliens exist? Why are so many people fascinated by the idea of higher intelligence beyond our world? And what does the Bible have to say about it? This week on the 99.41 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, Parker, and AntMan dive into the buzz surrounding the upcoming film Disclosure Day and explore why stories about extraterrestrial life continue to capture the imagination of millions. As they unpack the movie’s themes, the conversation quickly shifts to a deeper question: What if humanity’s search for something greater is actually pointing us toward the truth already revealed in Jesus Christ? Drawing from passages like John 1, Colossians 1, and Hebrews 1, the team discusses God’s design, eternity written on the human heart, the claims of Christ, and why the gospel remains the most extraordinary event in human history. They also examine how believers can engage with popular culture, movies, and media while maintaining a biblical lens. Whether you’re curious about aliens, fascinated by end-times discussions, or simply looking for a deeper understanding of who Jesus is, this episode challenges listeners to focus less on what the world may be hiding and more on what God has already revealed in His Word. Topics include: Disclosure Day, aliens and Christianity, Steven Spielberg, biblical worldview, truth and culture, Colossians 1, John 1, Hebrews 1, the divinity of Christ, eternity in our hearts, and why Jesus changes everything. The investigation into Ted Bundy's second year of killing began with a traffic stop nobody planned. Sergeant Bob Hayward, a twenty-two-year veteran of the Utah Highway Patrol, was sitting in his cruiser outside his own home in Granger, Utah, at 2:30 in the morning when a tan VW Beetle passed with its headlights off. He chased it. He searched it. What he found inside — a ski mask, a pantyhose mask with eyeholes cut by hand, a crowbar, an ice pick, rope, and handcuffs — was a kit assembled by someone who had thought about what he was going to use it for.The driver was Ted Bundy. He had no record. He was released on his own recognizance. Two days later, Salt Lake County Detective Jerry Thompson read the arrest report and connected the name to Carol DaRonch — the eighteen-year-old who had fought her way out of a Volkswagen nine months earlier after a man posing as Officer Roseland tried to handcuff her at a mall. Thompson called Mike Fisher in Colorado, who had the Caryn Campbell case. He called Bob Keppel in King County, who had eight names and a stack of tip cards. For the first time, three states realized they had been working the same case for nineteen months without knowing it.The women between those states — Nancy Wilcox, Melissa Smith, Laura Aime, Debby Kent, Caryn Campbell, Julie Cunningham, Denise Oliverson, Lynette Culver, Susan Curtis — crossed jurisdictions nobody had connected. Five states. Five agencies. No shared file. This is the second of five conversations in Ted Bundy: History's Hidden Killers. The investigative thread that finally tied the cases together — and the survivor and the accident that made it possible.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Traditional medicine is transitioning from pharmaceuticals to advanced cellular signaling. Caleb Granger discovered that most stem cell treatments fail because the cells die almost immediately after being introduced. The Signal Driven Secret to Healing The real power lies in the messengers those cells release before they disappear. These tiny particles, known as exosomes, carry thousands of signals that instruct local cells to begin repair. Solving the Math Problem of Aging Aging is essentially a math problem involving healing capacity versus the rate of decline. When we are young, our bodies are flooded with millions of regenerative signals that fix injuries rapidly. As years pass, the number and potency of these signals drop while inflammation increases. When you raise regenerative capacity past the rate of degeneration, the body begins to heal regardless of age. Recharging Your Cellular Energy Source Cells require a specific energy molecule called NAD plus to function properly. These levels plummet as we get older, leaving our bodies with less power to execute healing instructions. Most traditional treatments fail because they cannot deliver this molecule directly into the cells. New protocols can restore these energy levels to their youthful peak in just a couple of months. Real World Results and Tissue Regeneration This signal-based approach has produced remarkable results for thousands of individuals across the country. One striking case involved a patient who regained speech after being nonverbal for four years. Another patient saw a significant restoration of kidney function that had been failing for seven years. These improvements demonstrate that cellular instructions can essentially reset the body to a higher baseline of health. In this podcast, you will discover... Why most stem cells die quickly The secret to reversing decline How exosomes deliver healing signals The truth about cellular energy Why current treatments often fail How to regrow actual tissue EPISODE RESOURCES: Website Instagram TikTok
In this Memorial Day episode of the 99 for 1 Podcast, Granger Smith, AntMan, Tyler, and Parker tackle the recent Fox News headline claiming "fame can become poison" and explain why that framing misses the gospel entirely. This week on the 9941 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, and Parker unpack a powerful listener email that perfectly captures the heart behind the podcast: reaching “the one.” After hearing a message about cultural Christianity and realizing his faith was only surface deep, one listener shares how God radically changed his life through repentance, prayer, and the truth of the Gospel. The guys dive deep into what real salvation looks like, the struggle between flesh and spirit, why Christians still battle sin after being saved, and how repentance is more than just feeling guilty. Through honest conversation and Scripture, they discuss sanctification, temptation, spiritual warfare, addiction, shame, suffering, and the daily fight to follow Jesus in a fallen world. This episode is an encouraging reminder that Christianity is not about trying harder or becoming perfect overnight. It’s about surrendering fully to Christ, trusting in His finished work, and walking daily in repentance and faith. If you’ve ever wrestled with guilt, failure, temptation, or wondered if true transformation is possible, this conversation will hit home. Humans spending 50 minutes admitting they can’t save themselves. As a seasoned financial advisor with over two decades of experience, Dustin Granger has built his career helping Louisiana families navigate the turbulent waters of the Great Recession, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recurring hurricanes that shape life on the Gulf Coast. A lifelong resident and LSU alumnus, Granger now serves as the Treasurer of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Granger is a leading voice for economic reform and climate resilience. He advocates for a "New Louisiana" that breaks away from traditional corporate-heavy investments to embrace renewable energy, fair taxation, and sustainable infrastructure. Every year an increasing number of white outlaws, hidden in the caves along the river, harried and robbed the boatmen who floated down from the upper settlements. There were lurking bands of hostile Indians. And there was the river itself with its treacheries; its snags; its mud bars and its floods. It was no unusual thing for an ark to set out as this one was about to do, provided against all foreseeable disasters, and never be heard from afterward. Some were wrecked, some were robbed and their crews obscurely murdered. But no tidings of their fate came back to the solitary homes on the upper Ohio. In this episode of the 9941 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, Parker and AntMan dive into one of the most common and misunderstood questions in the Christian life: How do I know if I’m called to ministry? What starts as a conversation about calling quickly turns into a powerful discussion on faith, obedience, and what it actually means to desire God. Through real-life stories, biblical teaching, and honest reflection, the guys unpack the difference between duty and genuine love for the Lord. You’ll hear: A raw story of spiritual growth and choosing church over comfort Why obedience to God flows from love, not obligation What to do if you don’t feel a desire for God Practical steps to grow your faith and rekindle spiritual hunger Biblical qualifications for ministry from 1 Timothy 3 The truth about “calling” vs. simply living as a faithful Christian This episode challenges the modern idea of ministry and reminds us that every believer is called to live out their faith daily. Whether you’re questioning your purpose, struggling with spiritual apathy, or considering leadership in the church, this conversation brings clarity straight from Scripture. When life falls apart, what do you actually do? In this week's episode, Granger, Tyler, and Parker and The AntMan tackle one of the most common questions Granger gets asked on the road: "How do you stay strong in the storms of life?"The guys break down why the answer is more practical — and more biblical — than most people expect. Just like a real storm, the worst thing you can do is try to fix everything in the middle of it. Instead, they discuss the power of seeking shelter in Christ, leaning on the ordinary means of grace (Scripture, prayer, and local church community), and why true strength is found in weakness, not willpower. The conversation goes deep into some of the Bible's most raw and honest moments — Job's response to devastating loss, the Psalms' cries of "How long, O Lord?", Paul's thorn in the flesh in 2 Corinthians 12, and Jacob wrestling with God in Genesis. Along the way, they explore the difference between shaking your fist at God (which Scripture calls sin) and honestly crying out to Him in grief and fellowship. They also share a heartbreaking real-life story of a Williamson County deputy who lost his pregnant wife — and connect it to Rachel's death in Genesis — as a powerful reminder that God is never caught off guard by our suffering. In this week’s episode of the 9941 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, Parker, and AntMan dive into some of the most common and challenging questions people ask about faith, God, and suffering. Fresh off a speaking event, Granger shares real questions from a live Q&A session, including: Why does God seem harsh in the Bible? and How can someone move past anger toward God after deep loss? The conversation explores the difference between God’s discipline and judgment, the role of suffering in a believer’s life, and why misunderstanding God’s nature often leads to frustration and doubt. The guys also unpack the importance of biblical context (not just cherry-picking verses), the necessity of accountability within a local church, and how a deeper understanding of God’s character can bring peace even in life’s hardest moments. Personal stories, including grief, loss, and spiritual growth, make this episode both honest and deeply impactful. We also dig into one of the wildest stories in fly tying, the massive Granger collection, and what it says about craftsmanship, patience, and going deep into the details. In this powerful episode of the 9941 Podcast, Granger, Tyler, Parker, and AntMan dive into a gripping real-world story that perfectly reflects the heart behind the podcast’s mission: leaving the 99 to find the one. The conversation centers around a dramatic rescue mission involving a downed U.S. Air Force colonel deep in enemy territory. Facing overwhelming odds, injury, and isolation, the pilot relied on his training—and more importantly, the unwavering belief that he would not be left behind. That belief ultimately drove his survival. From there, the episode transitions into a deeper biblical discussion, connecting this real-life rescue to the words of Jesus in Luke 15 and the promise found throughout Scripture: God does not abandon His people. The crew explores themes of: Faith in the middle of fear and uncertainty Spiritual “training” through Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-17) The reality of persecution in the Christian life The hope believers have in God’s promise to rescue and redeem This episode challenges the idea of comfort-driven faith and instead points to a deeper, more resilient trust in God—even when life gets harder, not easier. If you’ve ever wondered how to hold onto faith in difficult seasons, this conversation will hit home.
