Amy Gannett of Tiny Theologians has inspired me with her incredible knowledge of Scriptures and her heart to bring up children who know and love God's Word. Many people have ideas about who God is – based on their feelings or wishes, or what the culture has to say (scary!) But our kids need to know who God says He is, and what He says about them! Amy creates resources to share Truths from Scripture, and practical ways we can teach our children to be…tiny theologians. This week Amy and Mike talked with author Amy Gannett about her Tiny Theologians series. Kids ask questions like this about God all the time. We want our answers to show them the God who IS, the God of the Bible. Amy Gannett's Tiny Theologians® series teaches young readers about God's all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-present nature. Did God Learn His ABCs? A Book About God's Knowledge Did God ever go to school? Does God need someone to teach him? Is there anything God doesn't know? The engaging, rhyming text and bold, delightful illustrations make God's omniscience (His all-knowing nature) understandable, relatable, and applicable for kids. Young readers will close the book knowing there's no need to hide their sins, questions, or dreams from God—for He already knows everything about them. Does God Sleep? A Book About God's Power Does God ever get tired? Does He sometimes get sick? Does He ever stop working? The engaging, rhyming text and bold, delightful illustrations make God's omnipotence (His all-powerful nature) understandable, relatable, and applicable for kids. Young readers will close the book knowing there's no need to fear when falling asleep—for God is always awake, watching over us and working in the world. Does God Go on Vacation? A Book About God's Presence Does God ever leave Heaven? Does He take vacations? Will He ever go somewhere where He can't hear our prayers? The engaging, rhyming text and bold, delightful illustrations make God's omnipresence (His all-present nature) understandable, relatable, and applicable for kids. Young readers will close the book knowing there's no need to worry about today or tomorrow—for God never takes a vacation! He is always with us. Amy Gannett (M.Div, Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary) is a speaker, writer, and Bible teacher. She is the author of several exegetical Bible studies.

Amy Gannett joins us on the podcast to discuss theology and the delight it is to grow in our love and knowledge of the Lord. She is being refreshed by the weather cooling off, and she's getting back to baking bread. Noteworthy quotes: “As we look to God's Word to learn about God– He is infinitely interesting.” - 15:30 “He throws his arms wide open in scripture and invites us to know him and to plumb the depths of who He is even though He is limitless and we are limited.” - 16:06 Questions for consideration: Do you feel a disconnect between your head knowing the Lord and your heart experiencing the Lord? If so, aside from prayer, what strategies can you implement into your daily routine to try to bridge the gap?
Your theology matters. Jesus has called you to be a doer of His Word, not just a hearer. This requires us to have a “head knowledge” in order to know what Jesus has called us to do, but it doesn't stop there. We need this knowledge to sink into our hearts in order to change us and impact how we live. This is how our theology fuels our doxology, or our worship of God in our everyday lives! If we're parents or around children, this impacts how we talk and teach and relate to them, too! We are joined by Amy Gannett. Amy is a Bible teacher, a writer, a speaker, a church planter's wife, the owner and creator of Tiny Theologians, and the author of “Fix Your Eyes: How Theology Shapes Our Worship”. In this conversation, she helps us dig deeper into this idea of how our theology impacts our everyday lives. She talks to us about how to safeguard against this tendency to just learn things about God and His Word (head knowledge) without it changing our lives (and our hearts). She talks to us about how we can explain theology in a way that kids can grasp, too. It's a rich conversation you don't want to miss! Be sure to follow Amy on IG at @amycategannett and @tinytheologians and check out her website: https://amygannett.com Here are some questions that Amy answers in this interview: Does theology matter for the average Christian? Why? (7:13) Jesus talks about being doers of the word and not just hearers. Why do we have such a tendency to be hearers only? (15:57) How do we safeguard against a joyless head knowledge when we learn things about God and His Word? How do we allow theology to shape our lives? (19:35) Can you give us an example of a theological doctrine we might learn about and how it can impact our daily lives and lead us to worship? (25:42) For those of us who have kids or teach children, how much are they ready for? Are there certain concepts/doctrines we should focus on? (36:48) What are some practical ways we can help our kids understand the purpose behind theology and go actually apply it to their lives? We live in a polarized time. Christians are quick to conceive of themselves either as theologically-minded or worship-minded; either thinking Christians or feeling Christians. The results are damaging: theology without worship is muted, stifled, and cold, and worship without theology is ungrounded, unrooted, and uninformed. This is not the way it was meant to be. Amy Gannett is the author of “Fix Your Eyes” (B&H books) and she is in the show sharing how our theology (our study and knowledge of God) should always lead to doxology (our worship of Him). Worship should always be rooted in theology. When we study the nature and character of God as revealed in his Word, we are invited to respond in the affectionate, obedient discipleship of worship. How can we keep our theology from being mere head knowledge? How do we give our worship roots that will last? By fixing our eyes on God Himself—the object of our study and the object of our worship. Join us to understand core doctrines of the Christian faith, apply them in our daily worship of God, and live them out in daily life. This week's love offering is to “make your whole self available to God. So often we withhold a part of ourselves. There is a reason that God asks us to love Him with our whole mind, body, heart, and strength.” About Amy: Amy Gannett (M.Div, Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary) is a speaker, writer, and Bible teacher. Amy Gannett does a lot of things. Being a church planter with her husband is no small task, but in addition to that -- she's an entrepreneur, Bible teacher, online leader and Mom to 1-year-old Emerson. I first discovered Amy through her company, Tiny Theologians, which makes theology cards for young children. You've heard me mention it before on the podcast because I love teaching my kids this stuff early. Amy has quickly become one of my favorite people to follow, precisely because she is so focused on injecting the deep things of God into everyday life. I recently signed up for her Bible Study membership, which includes all kinds of Bible studies with fellow, amazing female Bible teachers. I love Amy's commitment to learning and teaching the Word well, through her weekly "Theology Thursdays" videos on Instagram, monthly newsletter and -- very exciting -- her NEW BOOK, which releases very soon! "Fix Your Eyes: How Our Study of God Shapes Our Worship Of Him" (I pre-ordered!). Enjoy her wisdom in this episode and be inspired to dig into God's Word as you never have. Amy Gannett is the founder and creator of Tiny Theologians, creating discipleship tools to pass on the Christian faith to the youngest members of our households. She is perhaps most well known as simply someone who loves the Word of God so much that she creates and distributes high-quality exegetical Bible studies, courses, and tools for people to learn to study and love the Word themselves. Her forthcoming book “Fix Your Eyes: How Our Study of God Shapes Our Worship of Him” is an exploration of how our study of the nature and character of God as revealed in his Word, is truly an invitation to respond in the affectionate, obedient discipleship of worship and how worship should always be rooted in theology. In this conversation, Amy and Jeremy talk about how curiosity is the best tool to bring to your Bible. They also discuss how to navigate the most difficult questions life and faith have to offer whether you're discussing it with adults, college students, or our own children.
