How many times has the Green Party been described as "far left"? Never. How many sexes does Carol Sanders think exist? She should tell us. 52.10- A column by Tom Brodbeck continued the Free Press scare narrative about Covid. He's obsessed with the fact almost 85% of Manitobans don't line up for more boosters. The province's health mandarins are letting him down. The Point Douglas Residents Association has voiced not only concerns about the possible consequences of a magnet for drug users in their neighborhood, but say that this situation reveals a weakness in the representation available by their MLA and on City Council. 31.00- Hear how the rest of the Winnipeg media scrambled to cover the story, with none of them crediting that the Sun broke the news; then you'll hear the lie told by the Health Minister that resulted in our follow-up report today, proving there was serious pushback against her PR campaign. ‘Homelessness is a business': Pushing back on NDP's proposed drug user hub From a reader: "As much I hate to say it, Audrey Gordon was a lot better health minister then Ozuma Asagwara" 37.35- Part 3— More about the relentless siege of 500 Waterfront, with details about the way CentreVenture misled the owner about how the street was going to be "the Tuxedo of downtown"; instead he's had to spend $40,000 to keep his tenants and employees safe. Stolen water, stolen electricity, and meth users staggering into the building and parking lot causing damage and disorder, all of which he's told Gillingham, Kinew and dozens of city offiicals and non-profit managers about. He says it started with Brian Bowman putting his career goals ahead of the public, lest he be accused of "racism" for having law and order imposed on the homeless criminals. He says that the "shooting gallery will turn Winnipeg into Vancouver." 45.50- A Free Press columnist smeared the residents and property owners being concerned about more crime being caused near the planned drug site as spreading "misinformation." What is misinformation, is Tom Brodbeck ignoring the lived experience of people in Vancouver and Edmonton and of folks in Toronto, where a woman was shot and killed in a gun battle between drug dealers outside a user site. What Brodbeck got wrong, is denying that "Harm Reduction" causes harm to the neighbourhoods; what he got right was, Kinew tried to skirt proper and transparent consultation, and may pay a political price for it. Episode 13 looks at antisemitism in Winnipeg media, concealed under the guise of far-left "intersectionality" and claims that it's only anti-Zionism, not antisemitism. Even with Justin Trudeau shoveling millions of dollars annually into the newspaper, the Winnipeg Free Press needs every reader and advertiser they can get. But when the pages are filled with slanted reporting and mean-spirited opinions that insult the public, it's a losing battle. 3.00 - To stem the tide, WFP editor Paul Samyn emailed a mea culpa to readers on Jan. 24. This was after blatant failures to flag a sexist column by Tom Brodbeck about former Premier Heather Stefanson ("for that we apologize"); an unhinged attack on unvaccinated Manitobans that "provided us with no immunity against the criticism that came our way"; and ongoing complaints about coverage of the Gaza War. You'll hear how his "adjusting the mix on our letters page" instead opened the door last Saturday to Hamas-supporting leftists- who laugh about the paper being their useful idiots. Samyn assured readers their feedback was "helping the Free Press be stronger, a trusted place you can turn to for defining the news of the day and debating the issues of our time." In less than 48 hours, he was forced to eat his words. 11:00 Part 2- Three columns in the Winnipeg Jewish Review provided a scathing rebuke to a review by Jen Zoratti of an event hosted by Gail Asper exposing the sexual violence of Hamas on Oct. 7. First, Marty Gold reads some of the unbelievably rancid comments from Zoratti. Then, he recaps the op-ed of Jessica Cogan, herself a feminist, who was at the program on January 24 at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. "I am left wondering how Ms. Zoratti could have left that program with the viewpoint that she did, without even a shred of compassion for the victims discussed that evening... she goes on to scold us for the way we are being forced to "bear witness". Does Ms. Zoratti live under a rock?"  "Ms. Zoratti then accuses the Jewish Community, including Jewish women, of exploiting "women's bodies to drive a political agenda and justify violence." This is victim-blaming of the highest order. In what gender studies classes did Ms. Zoratti learn this approach?" Cogan asked, "Would Ms. Zoratti go to an event hosted by the Muslim, Black, or Indigenous communities and have the audacity to "what about" them? Tellingly, Ms. Zoratti had no hesitation in doing so to the Jewish Community. Again, it speaks for itself." Samyn may have to issue another mea culpa, since "The one glaring omission from Ms. Zoratti's opinion was any hint of compassion or empathy towards the Israeli victims or the members of Winnipeg's Jewish community who assembled that evening." 22:54 Part 3- We tell you how Larry Pinsky, a Winnipeg lawyer, went even further in his op-ed, Holocause Remembrance And October 7: How Do You Fix A Problem Like Zoratti? "Ms. Zoratti, who usually is held out in the paper as an entertainment columnist... denigrated the survivors and victims of the mass sexual assaults and other crimes committed by Hamas and their co-conspirators." "Ms. Zoratti paid lip service to believing that these vile crimes were committed, using the word "ostensibly" (and) takes aim at the solemn presentation of the proof of Hamas's crimes... She said that the solemn evening veered into "agitprop". " "While Ms. Zoratti might have a political agenda, and while she might want to gas light in the tradition of her Marxist forbearers, the facts are the facts... To top off this tripe, Ms. Zoratti abused her presence at this earnest evening to accuse Israel of apartheid." 31:32 Part 4- WJR editor Rhonda Spivak piled on another problem for Samyn, after Faith reporter John Longhurst tweeted "great column" to Zoratti. Provincial budget coverage ain't what it used to be: Tom Brodbeck's column in the Free Press was full of funny backtracks compared to his pre-budget burial of the 'Hail Mary' playbook of the PC government. Is he a comedian? "It's unlikely she'll find a receptive audience" for "a decent budget" that increases key spending -and puts money back in Manitoban's wallets? What about the 'buffoonery' he predicted in his Feb. 27 column? 10:15 With leader Dougald Lamont trying to horn in on NDP turf, the Manitoba LIberal Party budget response also earns a laugh or two. Reports are that international students from a religious college leasing space inside CDI were the 4 mugged we described last week. Hear of the threats and racist abuse the students endure, the pattern of violence south of Portage and Main, and how this can undermine an iconic nearby burger stand and other area enterprises. People petrified to take the bus, daily machete attacks; 13 year olds pepper-spraying folks for shits and giggles put back on the streets. Welcome to Winnipeg. This unchecked wave of violence, within blocks of the cop shop, is destroying downtown and is Brian Bowman's legacy. It's so bad, the cops can't keep their story straight whether more people downtown post-pandemic makes it safer, or make it worse by increasing the supply of victims. To set up discussing the Leger poll findings, Marty reviews the startling mass turfing of incumbents in Vancouver and throughout major BC cities, the Ken Sim ABC sweep across the ballot, and the common denominator to Winnipeg - Crime! BC is fed up with criminals and crime is the top voter issue in Winnipeg. Leger polling showed issues the MSM harps on - climate change, bike lanes, reconciliation - are solid bottom dwellers. We look at voter intentions, and where the priorities of the Klein, Loney, Gillingham and Murray camps landed. Loney voters only show 2% have lower taxes as a concern. Is the influence of limited polling on Winnipeg election coverage and choices made by major organizations holding mayoral forums and town halls a problem? If CBC and the Chamber of Commerce didn't choose a month early (barely two weeks after 'voters start paying attention') - wouldn't Robbie Ouellette be out and Jenny Motkaluk be in? We knew Murray, as an Ontario cabinet minister, was the second guy to try to corner Mayor Marolyn Morrison to lean on her for a housing developer. What we didn't know was Murray had regular meetings with the first guy who tried it, and they had at least one meeting together with a rep of the development company... Morrison told the Globe and Mail she didn't know why “any politician would get involved with Spiros Papathanasakis or have any affiliation with him.” 1:03:25 - That brings us back to Glen Murray's Green Party donors list. It's been 2 more months. Is his proximity to 'colourful characters' who are adjacent to influence peddling campaigns the reason why it's still a secret?

Listen to Bowman's hint why Murray won't dare speak truth to power at City Hall. 25:40 Glen Murray tried to guilt Winnipeggers into picking up the tab to restore Thunderbird House. we tell the truth about why it failed - a $40k air conditioner it didn't need and irresponsible governance. Meanwhile Robbie Ouellette says he'd move the Mayor's office there. 37:00 - The media loves to tell about how *certain* politicians endured childhood poverty and family struggles, but the Free Press proves that it isn't only the kind of 'disadvantaged' folks usually promoted. Hear of 2 unexpected tales of mayoral hopefuls who overcame the odds to build successful careers, Kevin Klein (who spent time in a Sally Ann shelter) in corporate media, and Jenny Motkaluk - who went to University at age 16 and earned advanced science degrees before her successful careers in sales and business consulting. 47:25 - CBC has a list of Mayoral campaign planks and a discussion about how complete/accurate it is. For instance the Motkaluk housing plan had a 'help the homeless' component CBC missed, but she is way ahead in Arts and Culture proposals; meanwhile the Scott Gillingham camp was satisfied overall but added a few notes we pass along. 52:00 - RFO's transit ideas - like a buck a ride and allowing tap payment - get a good/sceptical look, as does Klein's 'trailers for the homeless' concept. We go over the CBC investigative report on Glen Murray's departure from the Pembina Institute which Marty also discussed here. Was this Murray's "Principal Skinner" moment? Tom Brodbeck rejected his apology and Kenny remarked "It's the same old Glen no matter where he goes." After reading about him in Gene Telpner's column for years, he met Hannon Bell at the Kevin Klein HQ; scored a home-baked cookie from Gillingham's digs in Osborne Village; and then an hour later walking to Shoppers met one candidate with nice T-Shirts and no bricks-and-mortar location. After exchanging introductions, Shaun Loney was asked what message he had for our listeners- He specifically spoke about infrstructure promises made by... Klein and Gilingham! Proposals he scoffed at for costing a projected $100M. 12:40 The latest Probe poll was Loney Tunes! The newsrooms gave no serious analysis to this "poll" (Loney 14/Gillingham 15/Murray 40 = 'a 25% lead!') but we did. Listen as we break down the numbers, proported to the media and public to have any legitimacy when the undecided borders on 40% (and 8% more won't vote). Supplying the media with clickbait and headlines does not serve the electorate. MSM isn't being held to account, because when they claim Glen Murray is "frontrunner" with "solid support" in a "poll of 600 online voters", his actual committed vote is literally, all of 50 people from that original 600. Hear us do the math the media won't. 20:00 Coun. Cindy Gilory was forced to react to the videos of back lane trash-heaps in her ward by Don Woodstock. Either Gilroy didn't explain herself properly or she exposed she is clueless after 8 years in office.
