Talley Leger believes the current bull market has room to run, despite recent pullbacks and concerns about rich valuations. Leger cites catalysts supporting the market, including better-than-expected economic data, easing trade policy uncertainty, and accommodative monetary policy. He also likes the tech sector, specifically Nvidia (NVDA) and Intel (INTC), citing their strong fundamentals and recent momentum. Other names on his list include Amazon (AMZN), Caterpillar (CAT), and JPMorgan Chase (JPM). Leger acknowledges potential near-term risks, such as government funding anxiety, but advises investors to buy into any weakness.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. A recent online poll by Leger found that 85 per cent of people asked said that the government should regulate artificial intelligence. But 57 per cent of people asked said they'd used some kind of AI tool. That's one online poll, but it points to where many Canadians are with AI right now: they are using this technology, but have questions. Are you using AI to transform your daily life? Has it helped you overcome barriers? Or maybe you have questions about how it all works. Our question: How is AI changing your life? What questions do you have?

Elias Makos ends the week with Justine McIntyre, Strategic consultant and former city councillor, and Meeker Guerrier, Commentator at Noovo and RDS According to a new Leger poll: The Parti Quebecois victory in the Arthabaska is reflective of the changing political landscape in the province Mark Carney is meeting with Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and Quebec Premier François Legault today Five members of the Canadian armed forces have been suspended over the Nazi salute… Kids are heading back to school, with a new provincial rule: cellphones are banned in classrooms throughout Quebec.
On today's episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, guest host Kris Sims takes on two of the most pressing issues facing Canadians: the Carney Liberals' unrealistic electric vehicle mandate and Ottawa's stranglehold on Canada's media. A new Leger poll shows Canadians are rejecting the 2035 EV ban. Nearly 70% say it's unrealistic, while 71% say the mandate should be rolled back. Even among Liberal voters, most oppose it. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has warned the mandate would cost at least $300 billion in grid upgrades and charging stations, while destroying rural communities and wiping out Canada's auto sector. Kris is joined by Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy and a former Liberal MP, to break down exactly why this policy is unaffordable, unworkable, and damaging to the auto industry. McTeague explains that quotas begin in January 2026 — just four months away — and will hammer car dealers with penalties while driving up prices for consumers. Kris also exposes to the government's media agenda, recently criticized by no less than the US State Department. The Online News Act was supposed to “save journalism,” but instead gutted independent outlets as Meta blocked Canadian news. Google cut a $100-million deal, yet most of the money flows to legacy outlets like the CBC, already swimming in $1.4 billion in taxpayer funding despite rock-bottom ratings. The result: Canadians get less access to news and more government-funded propaganda, while everyday families brace for higher costs under a $300B EV fantasy. Learn more about your ad choices. Queensland has long been regarded as a nursery for budding champion jockeys. Prime examples are George Moore and Neville Sellwood who both rode English Derby winners in addition to their stellar Australian careers. Dalby born Garnet Bougoure also left his mark in England with victories in a 1000 Guineas, St. Leger and Epsom Oaks. Graham Cook's only overseas experience was a successful stint in Singapore where he notched a Gr 1 win. At home in Queensland he compiled a stellar record. We're delighted to have his company on this week's podcast, and I'm pleased to say the 82 year old has forgotten nothing. Graham takes us back to the day in 1993 when he realised it was game over. He rekindles memories of his father Frank, a capable jockey whose career embraced two separate phases. Although only five years old at the time, Graham has vivid memories of Frank Cook's Doomben Cup win on Forge in 1948. He watched the race from an unlikely vantage point. The former star jockey talks of his father's premature passing. He remembers his hard working mother Margaret who died in 1993. Graham reflects on his apprenticeship to his uncle Bert Cook. He's never forgotten the August day in 1959 when he made his race riding debut and earned the ire of his master. Graham remembers his first win on Countwood, a horse destined to play a pivotal role in his early career. He looks back on the three horse race he won on Countwood beating a couple of star jockeys. Graham acknowledges a handful of jockeys he greatly admired in his formative years. He remembers two important wins on the talented Maybe Lad. The veteran looks back on his second Queensland Guineas win on Lord Kearsey from the Jim Atkins stable. He pays tribute to the legendary Toowoomba trainer. He acknowledges another four wins in the Guineas making it a total of six- his best result in Queensland feature races. Graham remembers a Gr 1 win on Zephyr Zip for another Brisbane training legend. Fittingly he pays tribute to the gallant Mode, the pony sized mare who gave him victory in two famous Queensland races. “Cookie” hasn't forgotten his Gr 1 rampage during the 1974/75 Brisbane winter carnival- three elite level wins for champion trainer Jim Griffiths. He looks back on the Doomben $10,000/Stradbroke double with Spedito. The champion jockey relates the circumstances under which he was persuaded to fly to Sydney to ride Leonotis in the 1978 Epsom. His confidence was dimmed by a bad barrier but Leonotis was awesome on the day. He looks back on another Stradbroke success on Dancing Poet for Bill Calder who later gained prominence as the trainer of Chief de Beers. Graham takes us through his winning record in some of Brisbane's most historic races. He fondly remembers winning several races on the consistent galloper Ima Shadow for trainer Tom Dawson. Ima Shadow won an amazing total of 31 races. Graham looks back on his four Brisbane jockey's premierships, and some special days when he dominated the programme. He remembers a lightning trip to Singapore to ride a top fancy in the Gold Cup. He won the feature and later returned for a three year stint. “Cookie” talks of the inevitable accidents during his thirty four year career. He pays tribute to Janelle, his wife and best friend. It was an absolute delight to catch up with one of the best riders of his generation. Many memories here for those who were around in “Cookie's time.
This week, we journey to 18th-century Ireland, a time of grand estates and closely guarded secrets, to unravel a truly unique tale: the story of the Lady Freemason. Joining us to shed light on this fascinating historical anomaly is Katheleen Aldworth Foster, author of "Doneraile Court: The Story of the Lady Freemason." Katheleen shares the story of Elizabeth St. Leger, a 17-year woman who was caught eavesdropping in a Lodge, and the enduring mystery surrounding her alleged initiation into Freemasonry.Show notes: Join us on Patreon. Of zelfs: oorlog.

Talley Leger, chief market strategist at The Wealth Consulting Group, says the stock market over-reacted to the downside over tariff announcements and that investor sentiment was so sour that it flashed big buying signals to him. Now that there has been some easing of tariff tensions with the United States and China announcing a deal on Monday, Leger says he thinks the market can push through the trouble, sustain a 2 percent growth rate and work through volatility to end the year with the Standard & Poor's 500 in the 6,500 range, about 15 percent up from where it started the day. David Trainer, founder and president at New Constructs, puts FreshPet back in the Danger Zone, noting that the stock has a franchise that might attract potential buyers, but it has a business that can't see a clear path to profitability as it exists now. David Brady, president, Brady Investment Counsel talks stocks in the Money Life Market Call.
After a series of military defeats over the winter of 1776–1777, British military leaders developed a bold plan to gain control of the Hudson River and divide New England from the rest of the colonies. Three armies would converge on Albany: one under Lieutenant General John Burgoyne moving south from Quebec, one under General William Howe moving north from New York City, and a third under Lieutenant Colonel Barrimore St. Leger cutting east from Lake Ontario along the Mohawk River Fort Stanwix lay directly on the path of St. Leger's force, making it a key defensive position for the Continental Army. By delaying St. Leger's troops and forcing a retreat, the garrison's stand at Fort Stanwix contributed to Burgoyne's surrender at the Battles of Saratoga a month later, a major turning point in the course of the war. To look at this battle, we are joined by today’s guest William Kidder, author of Defending Fort Stanwix: A Story of the New York Frontier in the American Revolution. He offers an account of life in and around the fort in the months leading up to the siege, detailing the lives of soldiers and their families, civilians, and the Haudenosaunee peoples with a focus on both the mundane aspects of military life and the courageous actions that earned distinction. We discuss the stories of local men and women, both white and Indian, who helped with the fort's defense before, during, and after the siege and showcases an overlooked story of bravery and cooperation on New York's frontier during the American Revolution.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
