You know an episode is going to be good when the guest, George Leger III, has worked on music you have definitely heard and the hosts openly admit that some nonsense will probably happen too. This week on Inside the Recording Studio, Chris and Jody bring in George Leger III, and the result sounds like exactly what you want from a studio podcast that knows how to mix useful advice with a little chaos. George is a mastering and recording engineer whose career has moved through wildly different corners of music, from Frank Zappa to Barry Manilow. That is not a tiny footnote. That is the kind of resume that makes you sit up and say, “Okay, this guy has seen some things.” The fun part is that the episode does not stop at the name drop level. Chris and Jody dig into how George got started, what gear he trusts, and what kind of curveballs he has had to handle across decades in the studio. That makes this one especially good for listeners hunting for recording setup tips, audio engineering insights, and smarter ways to think about home studio gear without getting buried under tech talk that sounds like it was written by a robot with too many cables. George's story is one of the strongest parts of the episode because it shows how a real career grows. Not in the fake motivational poster way. In the actual, messy, surprising, genre-jumping way. His path through unexpected styles and unforgettable moments gives the conversation more depth than a standard interview. For a home studio tinkerer or aspiring pro, that matters. It says that skill is not just about knowing the buttons. It is about learning how to react when the session turns sideways and still finding a way to make the work shine. Then there is the gear angle, which is where a lot of listeners will lock in. George shares the gear he swears by, and that gives the episode practical weight. It is one thing to hear broad advice. It is another thing to hear it from someone who has spent years behind the console making decisions that actually matter. If you care about studio workflow advice and want to hear what an experienced engineer values, this conversation gives you something solid to chew on. A big personality moment here is the way Chris and Jody set the whole thing up. They do not treat George like a museum piece. They bring him into the flow of the show, which includes a triple shot of Friday Finds and an extra voice in the mix. That added energy makes the episode feel alive. It is informative, sure, but it also has that Inside the Recording Studio feel where the listeners get real knowledge without the hosts acting like they are teaching from a stone tablet. So yes, there are laughs. Yes, there are legends. Yes, there are useful lessons for anyone building a better home recording environment. And yes, there is a pretty fair chance that some nonsense shows up too. Honestly, that is part of the charm. Subscribe for next week's gear deep dive. #HomeStudioGear #RecordingSetupTips #AudioEngineeringInsights #StudioWorkflowAdvice #MasteringEngineer #RecordingEngineer #FridayFinds #BehindTheMix
The Bank of Canada held its key interest rate steady on Wednesday, as Governor Tiff Macklem described an uncertain economic future caught between the potential for higher oil revenues and the threat of damage from inflation. CBC's Peter Armstrong explains why inflation risks are a 'dual crisis' with the continuing damage from U.S. trade uncertainty, and RBC senior economist Claire Fan reacts to the central bank's warning that the risk of price hikes spreading increases as the war stretches on. Plus, Abacus Data's David Coletto and Leger's Sébastien Dallaire dissect the numbers underlying the Liberals' big lead in recent polling.
Talley Leger describes the resilience of the stock market, noting that big tech is still within 5% of its all-time highs. He argues that if we can get past these latest headwinds, the market can keep climbing. He's keeping cash ready on the sidelines and is watching an “almost parabolic” rotation away from consumer discretionary into energy stocks. He shares several ETFs investors may be interested in, including the software ETF IGV and the equal-weighted consumer discretionary ETF RSPD. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. The hosts, Victor and Kim, preview upcoming podcast coverage, including the penultimate episode of Industry, the finale of A Night of the Seven Kingdoms (with HBO reporting about 13 million average viewers and 9+ million in the first three days for the latest episode), and plans to cover the first episodes of Paradise with Alan while Darren is on vacation. They confirm continued weekly coverage of The Pitt and Drops of God, note that Sona will return for a new HBO Max series starting March 1 starring Jason Bateman, David Harbor, and Linda Cardellini, and share ways to contact and support the show. They discuss Drops of God season 2 episode “Trust Me,” focused on a Georgian family's backstory and sibling rift. The hosts describe how an apparent reconciliation is a fake-out: the sister tells her long-estranged brother “we forgive you,” implying he must be forgiven for being born, which triggers conflict and exposes long-buried abuse tied to the family's wine legacy. They connect the episode's themes to the show's broader pattern of “going underground” into trauma (wine cellar imagery) and draw parallels to Camille and Issei's family history. They highlight Camille's increasingly Leger-like obsession: she uses Issei's access to the mother to take gifted wine and enter it into her competition, prioritizing preserving wine over people and potentially forcing outcomes no one else wants. They also note suggested attraction and manipulation dynamics between Camille and Davit. They then cover The Pitt episode 7 (1:00 PM hour), describing it as messier than the prior episode but revealing a major looming catastrophe: a severe, likely self-imposed hospital-wide network shutdown to counter a cyberattack, affecting phones, internet, and hospital systems. They discuss how modern medicine depends on connected electronic systems (EMR, labs, imaging, medication dispensing, and blood bank workflows) and how downtime creates dangerous delays and risks, while rejecting simplistic “go back to paper” solutions. Other episode threads include July 4 heat-related strain, a missing unhoused patient, Dr. Halimi's likely PTSD/panic symptoms tied to prior field work in the Middle East, and broader staff mental health struggles (including Santos's scars and Langdon's prior benzo use). They discuss a sexual assault exam storyline led by Dana and the victim ultimately backing out because the assailant is someone she knows. They note Abbott's return as a SWAT medic and Robbie refusing to forgive Langdon during a rooftop trauma intake, creating tense teamwork. Additional plot points include Ava's father pushing dermatology over surgery, an end-stage cancer patient choosing to die in the hospital rather than at home, and a law student's apparent psychotic break with family tensions about undisclosed mental health history. The segment ends anticipating next week's consequences of extended downtime and the hospital system strain as nearby hospitals are also attacked. mailto:needssomeintroduction@gmail.com 00:00 Show intro + what's on the podcast schedule this week 01:59 Listener updates, subscriptions, and how to support the show 03:24 Drops of God S2E: “Trust Me” — the Georgia family backstory & the fake-out reunion 05:27 Wine cellars, buried trauma, and how family legacies warp everyone 13:49 Camille's turning point: becoming Leger, stealing the wine, and the fallout 18:01 The Pitt Hour 7: messy episode, but the looming disaster is a total system outage 20:01 Medicine without the internet: EMR downtime, cyberattacks, and why “air-gapped” isn't realistic 26:30 Heat wave ER realities + dangling threads (cooling, missing unhoused patient) 28:01 Dr. Halimi's backstory and the staff mental health spiral (PTSD, self-harm, benzos) 32:22 Coping in High-Stress Medicine: Gallows Humor vs Burnout 33:11 Inside a SANE Exam: The Meticulous, Emotional Reality of Sexual Assault Care 35:10 Abbott's Return with SWAT + Robbie's Awkward Double-Take Comedy 36:44 Patients Who Walk Out: AMA Stories, Free Insulin, and Limits of Helping 38:04 Robbie vs Langdon: Personal Grudges Collide with Trauma-Team Leadership 40:43 Ava's Dad Pushes Dermatology: Family Pressure and Lifestyle Medicine 41:53 The Cancer Mom's Choice: Dying in the Hospital vs Home Hospice 43:20 Law Student Psychosis & Family Secrets: Stigma, Self-Medication, and Disclosure 45:29 When the EMR Goes Dark: Blood Bank, Med Dispensing, and Paper-Chart Chaos 48:42 Cyberattacks + AI Dependence: Hospitals vs the Coming ‘Bot Army' 51:07 Back to Basics: Generational Divide, Improvisation, and Systemwide Overflow 55:03 Final Wrap: Translator Frustrations, Pen-and-Paper Solutions, and Show Notes

Talley Leger, chief market strategist at The Wealth Consulting Group, says the market is facing seven different headwinds, but that it has 10 tailwinds, all blowing to overcome potential troubles to where he expects the Standard & Poor's 500 to reach 8,500 this year. That would make 2026 the fourth consecutive year with double-digit market gains, but Leger is confident in his pick, noting that easing financial conditions — including a few more rate cuts from the Federal Reserve — should support economic re-acceleration to let the rally roll on. Leger is not the only one who is optimistic, as the latest Business Conditions Survey, released today by the National Association for Business Conditions, showed that the nation's economists have mostly factored recession out of the picture for this year. While the economists do see potential overhangs from tariffs and other policies impacting business, they say that spending plans in their companies — but more broadly for the economy at large — should fuel continued growth. Vijay Marolia, chief investment officer at Regal Point Capital, is also optimistic for the future, coming off of the World Economic Summit at Davos — where he says the lesson was to keep watching geopolitics without over-reacting to them by overhauling your portfolio. Further, in "The Week That Is," he discusses how the market is reacting to feelings rather than fundamentals in the current earnings season, and how it's still not too late for investors to reconsider their commodities holdings, even after gold and silver popped again last week, with silver reaching fresh highs above $100. David Trainer, founder and president at New Constructs, puts five different technology stocks — including Magnificent Seven member Meta Platforms and tech giant Oracle — in "The Danger Zone," noting that they have troubling balance sheets that have created significantly misleading stock valuations, which he says will not hold up once the market recognizes the potential for trouble.
