In the Sun last Wednesday, Marty Gold pinpointed that crime became "acceptable" under Mayor Brian Bowman inWinnipeg in 2018, after bicycle theft skyrocketed and nothing was done to stop it. The column evoked strong reactions and opinions about what is happening, and what should be done now. Part 1 of Episode 42 opens with a reply from the police after speculation by Police Board chair, Coun. Markus Chambers, about reviving a bait bike program that no one realized had been abandoned. The police sent along a chart of annual reported bike thefts, which we've republished with this podcast on ActionLine.ca.Our investigations, interviews and analysis prove we earn the support of listeners and readers!Help us meet the Season 6 funding goal - we are now at $2650! Go to https://actionline.ca/2024/02/donate-2/ to donate by PayPal, E-Transfer or to reach us!15.13 Part 2- Everyone knows someone who has had a bike stolen or has a story about a relative, friend or neighbour that has. Even past city councillors- including Jason Schreyer- have been victims. After the column Unchallenged crime wave in 2018 led to today's “epidemic” of bike thefts, a large number of readers came forward with their own experiences and strong opinions about how the crime wave has been mishandled. These aren't “survival crimes.” These crimes are traumatizing thousands of people, including children and people who rely on their bikes to get to work. Yetas one woman found out after spotting her bike for sale online, the WPS do nothing. Another said she files reportsonline, and never ever hears back from the cops. Listen to more of the online feedback:“I'm out thousands of dollars for bikes...was robbed last summer of my $4000 dollar bike.”“It's awful! I'm a single mom of 4 and had 2 bikes stolen in a month! I keep buying the best locks I can find, but even 3/8" chain has been sawn through to take them.”“These are the victimless crimes excused by local woke advocates. Maybe Bernadette Smith can buy this familysome new bikes.”"The police had an opportunity to get ahead of it 10+ years ago. Leadership had no desire. 'They're just bikes'”. “It's time the chop shops and homeless camps are dealt with by police. Too many riders can be seen daily witha second bike in tow.”The root cause of the problem? Weak leadership more concerned with virtue signaling that public safety:“Bowman told the public it was ok to get on the bus and not pay your fare. Look where that got us.”******The more you open the door into “our data”, the more it appears the Tories have a point about the Mobile Overdose Prevention Site (MOPS) program needing a careful evaluation before the exemption is allowed to continue.“A spring 2023 evaluation conducted by LAHRK Consultingis void of thorough post approval continued consultation, revealing that the qualitative data was primarily derived from users, staff, and politicians, without considering community perspectives that might present differing views on the site's impact. “Our areas didn't even hear about Foy's consultation process for MOPS.” Read Marty's report in the Winnipeg Sun:https://winnipegsun.com/opinion/gold-hidden-facts-challenge-government-approved-drug-van-narrative
We speak with John Kilburn, Regional Industry Leader of SAS, Silver Sponsor at the World Police Summit 2025, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre 13-15 May. As the Regional Industry Leader – Law Enforcement and Public Safety at SAS, John leads the development and strengthening of partnerships with Law Enforcement and Public Safety agencies across emerging markets in EMEA and the Asia Pacific region. The role involves driving SAS engagement with heads of investigation, agency leaders, and transformation officers, assisting to revolutionize their digital investigative and intelligence culture through the rationalisation and adoption of cutting-edge technology. With a distinguished 27-year career in Law Enforcement, John served as a Detective Senior Sergeant with the Queensland Police Service, where he specialized in criminal investigations, security intelligence, and counter-terrorism. In the late 1960s, eight Southern universities came together to develop a general purpose statistical software package to analyze agricultural data. NC State had always been a leader in developing code for analyzing agricultural data. It was a natural fit to house the project at the university's Cox Hall because the mainframe there could process enormous amounts of data. The resulting program – the Statistical Analysis System – gave SAS both the basis for its name and its corporate beginnings.Since then, SAS has grown to become one of the largest privately held software companies in the world.MySecurity Media were media partners to the WPS 2025. #Worldpolicesummit #wps2025 #mysecuritytv

With the help of artificial intelligence, Audi analyzes around 1.5 million weld points on 300 vehicles per shift at its Neckarsulm site. By way of comparison, employees in production previously monitored the quality of the processes involved in resistance spot welding (WPS) manually on a random basis using ultrasound, checking just over 5,000 weld spots per vehicle. Thanks to the use of AI, employees can now concentrate on potential anomalies and thus check quality even more efficiently and in a more targeted manner.

While the equal pay fight was driven by players on the US Women's National Team, they represented all women trying to make a living playing soccer at the highest level. The fight extended into the professional ranks where players like Joanna Lohman used their voices to advocate for, initially, just a living wage at the WPS and then NWSL levels. But, for players like Lohman and so many others, the equal pay fight represented so much more -- it was a proxy for activism and advocacy on so many levels. Women's soccer players in this country became the champions of lifting women and other underrepresented communities up to articulate and ask for their value to be seen. In this Extra Time episode, Lohman shares here journey through the soccer world. She talks about how hard it was to afford life as a professional soccer player. She shares her perspective on the broader implications of being undervalued -- from how it impacts confidence to social justice issues -- and why the USWNT and soccer community was uniquely suited to help elevate the status of women in America, overall. An overview of the first week of the federal election, and news about some Manitoba MPs facing a fight to retain their seats, is the focus of Episode 15.Part 1- Our Sunday column in the Winnipeg Sun struck a nerve after providing on-the-scene accounts of a March of crime.Crime wave in Winnipeg: Businesses and residents left to fend for themselvesBrazen thefts and organized shoplifting crews are beseiging convenience and drug stores. When the cops don't even show up to a break-in at a funeral home with corpses inside, you know the living like security guards and 7-Eleven clerks aren't a priority either- uunless their car windows have dark tint. From a reader- "I"m now wondering why we even fund the WPS any more. They do not serve us. They target us with ticketing. Thats it."12.40 Part 2- If you've been wondering how Mark Carney has been able to say he's making decisions about foreign policy without the confidence of the House of Commons, it's because on March 24th the Liberals secretly changed the Caretaker Convention Guidelines. Hear how this created " a legal and ethical gray zone." https://canada.ca/en/privy-council/services/publications/guidelines-conduct-ministers-state-exempt-staff-public-servants-election.htmlHow convenient. 19.00- You'll hear the outrageous descriptions of Pierre Poilievre by an Angus Reid Institute push poll to inflate support for Mark Carney. It's beyond outrageous.22.30- It's no wonder MSM election coverage avoids an analysis of the immigration crisis. We have a commentary from someone who knows who declared,"I've probably met a few dozen real, true refugees.... The rest are bogus. People gaming the system. People coached by consultants, lawyers, ghost agents. People using the refugee claim process to buy time. People using it to get work permits. That's how the system is built now."27.00- In his book Value(s), Mark Carney showered praise on the eco-alarmist Greta Thunberg. This of course doesn't square with his sudden support for the Canadian energy sector. The Liberal hypocrisy isn't limited to their leader. We play audio from January of one of his Ontario candidates insisting just two months ago that Canada needs even MORE carbon taxes.32.30 Part 3- Listeners and sources have provided assessments from the campaigns on the ground. After Jagmeet Singh ran the NDP out of money while propping up Justin Trudeau and accruing his pension, his MPs are facing annihilation at the ballot box. Among those in a dogfight- Leah Gazan, Niki Ashton, and the rookie MP Leila Dance. Meanwhile, in west Winnipeg, CPC incumbent Marty Morantz is facing voters with investments in the import-export markets who think his leader needs to make the fight against US tariffs the daily plank of the national campaign - "It's an epic battle."While claims fly that the Tory campaign is disorganized, crowds in the thousands continue to show up at rallies showing their support for a change in Ottawa. The 'mushy middle' - voters who swing from left to right - are targeted by media campaigns that highlight a narrative that the election is not about domestic concerns like affordability, public safety and foreign influence in our media and elections. That leaves longstanding questions unansswered- like what happened with those Chinese spies at the downtown Winnipeg lab? Maybe Mark Carney can tell us.******** The Funding campaign for Season Six is now underway - the target is $10,000 with the first contributions already in. * We provide unmatched content in the public affairs realm in Winnipeg! * You can support this work by using the PayPal link and other information on our Donate Page- or you can email us via martygoldlive@gmail.com
bound4blue and Odfjell have partnered to complete the first installation of a wind propulsion system (WPS) for the chemical tanker specialist, with four of bound4blue's eSAILs retrofitted on the 49,000 dwt Bow Olympus. The 22m tall suction sails will help the advanced vessel achieve significant fuel savings, unlocking commercial, environmental and regulatory advantage. A tailored two-step installation process was deployed to accommodate the vessel's busy schedule. Firstly, sail pedestals were fitted during a planned drydocking, before the eSAILs were lifted into place at EDR Antwerp Shipyard. Due to the outstanding coordination among the three parties, the installation was efficiently completed in just two days. Wind propulsion systems for sea going vessels Deep-dive assessment bound4blue's fully autonomous eSAILs, which generate propulsive efficiency by dragging air across an optimised aerodynamic profile, were selected by Odfjell following a deep-dive study of competing WPS solutions by research institute RISE (formerly SSPA). The combination of the eSAIL's performance, payback potential, environmental and regulatory benefits, combined with the ability to opt for non-ATEX units on a chemical tanker, were key considerations for the Norwegian owner. Easy does it "We're excited to support Odfjell in adopting wind propulsion technology within the maritime industry," comments David Ferrer, Co-founder and CTO of bound4blue. "Installing WPS on a vessel like this can be challenging due to ATEX zones and air draft limitations. However, the mechanical simplicity of eSAILs offers a smooth solution, allowing for the installation of non-ATEX units, which helps reduce CAPEX and simplifies the installation process. Indeed, this is a key attraction for the tanker marker, as shown by the increasing number of projects from this crucial segment now populating our orderbook." Ferrer continues: "Furthermore, their high performance, generating six to seven times the propulsive lift of equivalently proportioned rigid sails in most common winds, allows us to minimize their size, eliminating the need for tilting systems. Odfjell, with the assistance of a third-party evaluation, recognised the ability of eSAILs to deliver on the company's ambitious sustainability goals. We're delighted to set sail with them." Gathering momentum The units, which can be installed in a single shipyard visit, were this time fitted in two convenient stages to meet the busy vessel's operational goals. Electrical and structural preparations were made in a planned drydocking, while the sails were prepared and lifted into place in Antwerp. Odfjell now joins owners such as Amasus, Eastern Pacific Shipping and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs with operational eSAILs, with major shipping companies such as Maersk Tankers, Marflet Marine and Klaveness Combination Carriers filling up a growing orderbook. Building benefits Speaking of the decision to adopt wind power, Erik Hjortland, VP Technology at Odfjell, says: "We've made some major steps in minimizing our emissions, reducing our fleet's carbon intensity by 53% against the 2008 baseline. We've done this through many operational measures and by installing a range of different energy saving devices. "Wind power was the next step. bound4blue's suction sails have been chosen so we can determine the potential of wind propulsion in the continued work to reduce our emissions. It'll be very interesting to start gathering and analysing data on the carbon and fuel savings the Bow Olympus can achieve with the suction sails. That data will be fundamental in informing further decisions, as we continue to improve the environmental performance of our existing vessels, while preparing for future newbuilds that will be with us into- and beyond 2050." Regulatory rewards As well as driving down emissions and fuel expenditure, WPS provide powerful regulatory advantages for owners such as Odfjell. It is the only power source actively rewarded through Fue...

You should stop using unsecure wi-fi networks and websites, running unknown programs, linking your phone to your social media accounts, skipping system upgrades and avoiding the “sandbox”. How to protect your computer and personal data from cyber attacks? Follow some simple rules to save your privacy, gadgets, and money and tackle hackers. Music: Clover 3 – Vibe Mountain https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/... Triumph – Yung Logos https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/... TIMESTAMPS Unsecured Wi-Fi networks 0:46 Weak encryption and a Wi-Fi router without a PIN 1:39 Unsecured sites 2:36 Unknown programs 3:27 Giving the approval to link accounts with unknown sites 4:08 Using your cell phone number as your social media login 4:47 Skipping on system upgrades 5:39 No “sandbox” 6:28 Suspicious emails and attachments 7:24 Synchronized data 8:27 SUMMARY Unsecured Wi-Fi that doesn't require a password lets intruders monitor your activity and get your credit card numbers, emails, personal photos, and, most importantly, passwords. -Turn off the WPS method of authentication on your router's website to protect your computer from hackers' attacks. -Avoid sites without the lock symbol since they can be used to get information from your computer without your authorization. If you're dealing with sites that require a login, like bank sites, check for the green bar alongside the green lock. -Allowing programs that you're unfamiliar with or whose names you haven't heard of might seriously damage the security of your computer. -Try not to link your personal accounts to unknown sites to protect your account and your private information. -Intruders can divert the messages from your mobile device, so don't link your phone number with your social media accounts. -Using Windows XP or an older version of Windows increases your risk of getting hacked. -If you want to be more secure while visiting scrupulous sites, use a sandbox (a very strictly controlled environment where different programs can be run). -Don't open unknown attachments and don't even think about opening emails that look like spam. Instead, first scan the file using your anti-virus software and always check the header of the email. -Make it a strict rule to always back your data up offline in an external storage device like a hard drive or a flash drive. When the NWSL was founded in 2012, four of the founding teams were former members of the WPS (Women's Professional Soccer) -- including the Boston Breakers. One Breakers player that had been with the team between 2009-2011, and rejoined the team in 2013 initial to coach, was Ashley Phillips , who ultimately ended up playing as well. Phillips had starred at Clemson University, then graduated at the awkward time in the sport when the best American female players didn't have a top flight domestic professional league to play in. That realization helped Phillips, who already had an interest in coaching, realize the need for options. During her time with the Breakers when they played in the WPS, she began coaching to help pay the bills. Eventually, she walked away from the game and became the head coach of the women's soccer team at Northeastern She joined Founding Futbol to share her story -- one that reflects how hard a generation of players had to fight to stay in the game when options were limited. When the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) folded in 2003, many believed the prospect of a sustainable top-flight women's professional league in America was undermined. The resulting league fragmentation made it difficult for our top US Women's National Team players to compete at the appropriate levels after college between national team camps. When the WPS (Women's Professional Soccer) was founded in 2009, there was once again hope. But, yet again, the league folded within three years. However, coming off the enthusiasm around the women's game in the 2011 World Cup and approaching what would become a gold medal run at the 2012 Olympics for the USWNT, US Soccer regrouped and tried again. The outcome was the establishment of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Leveraging lessons learned from the past, the league focused on creating a sustainable model first, then finding a way to grow from there. The first eight teams included instant success stories in Portland where the Thorns drew unexpected crowds and also won on the field. Cat Whitehill was the captain and later player-coach of the Boston Breakers -- a carryover club from the WPS -- in the team's first NWSL season. The long-time USWNT defensive stalwart joined Founding Futbol to talk about how her journey to both the USWNT and professional soccer, and how the NWSL finally created the league women's soccer needed.
