The government is scrapping a troubled advisory group led by businessman Sunny Kaushal. The Ministerial Advisory Group for victims of retail crime has been dogged by controversy since it was established by Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith in October 2024. Most recently, three of its five members resigned within a month of each other, with one saying it had become a very unpleasant environment under Kaushal. Discovery Health clawback demands scrapped after urgent intervention by Radio Islam

Last year ended with a promise of the largest economic reform in a generation. It's when the Government unveiled its radical overhaul of resource management laws, which aims to cut the number of consents currently required by 40 to 50%. Led by RMA Reform Minister Chris Bishop, the move will see the decades-old RMA replaced with two laws – one focused on planning, and the other on environment protection. They’re due to be passed by the end of this year, and operational by 2029. But what does it all mean? And why has it taken so long to detangle this convoluted law if so many people agreed it needed to be done? The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is investigating whether Colorado providers helped nearly 3,000 people swindle taxpayer money from Uncle Sam, The Post has learned. The investigation comes after an internal HUD audit found that benefits were granted to 221 dead people, while another 87 were otherwise ineligible. The department also said that another 2,519 beneficiaries will need to undergo additional verification. Here’s the question: Were these just mistakes, the results of bad record-keeping, or deliberate fraud? Kiwibank has scrapped it's plans for partial privatisation after the Reserve Bank announced it's reduction of the amount of capital it requires banks to hold to protect their depositors in the event of a crisis. Thousands of Police issued 'formal warnings' have been scrapped after findings that 63% were issued unlawfully. 'Formal warnings' are used as alternatives to prosecutions where the offence is deemed unworthy of going through the courts. Last week, Police told all staff that compulsory training will be rolled out and an updated policy for formal warnings would be issued by the end of the year. Auckland University's completely ruled out refunds for its now-scrapped compulsory Treaty and Māori culture courses. The university's making the courses optional from next year but won't refund students who were required to complete it in the first semester of this year. The courses cost almost six thousand dollars for international students, and one thousand for domestic students. Act Leader David Seymour told Mike Hosking his party's continuing to call on the university to give the money back. Mia Goth is the latest actor shedding a bit of light on the long-shelved Blade movie from Marvel Studios. In an interview with Elle, promoting her upcoming appearance in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, Goth shared only that she is still attached to the film and commented that “It's for the best that it's taken the time it has.
