6IX9INE IS OFF OF HOUSE ARREST‼️

On March 24, 2025, Daniel Hernandez, better known as Tekashi 6ix9ine, marked a significant milestone in his tumultuous career: he is officially off house arrest. The controversial Brooklyn rapper celebrated by cutting off his ankle monitor, a moment captured in a video snippet shared across social media platforms like X, where fans and detractors alike buzzed with anticipation. This development follows a rollercoaster of legal battles that have defined much of his public life since his 2018 arrest on federal racketeering and firearms charges tied to the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. After testifying against gang members in 2019, earning a reduced two-year sentence and the infamous “snitch” label, 6ix9ine was released early in April 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns, serving the remainder under home confinement. His latest stint on house arrest stemmed from probation violations in 2024—failed drug tests and unauthorized travel—resulting in a 45-day jail term, followed by 30 days of house incarceration, 30 days of home detention, and 30 days of home curfew, all completed by early 2025.Now free from the ankle monitor's constraints, 6ix9ine wasted no time signaling his return to music. Posts on X, including one from @JayyjaeOnHots23, show him previewing a new track, its bass-heavy beat and signature aggressive delivery hinting at a continuation of the sound that propelled hits like “Gummo” and “Fefe” to chart-topping status. The snippet, paired with visuals of him severing the monitor, underscores his flair for provocation—a trait that's kept him relevant despite years of legal and personal chaos. His last major release, “Blackballed” in 2024, featured collaborations with Kodak Black and others, but this upcoming drop promises a fresh chapter, unburdened by physical restrictions.6ix9ine's career has been a paradox: a meteoric rise fueled by rainbow hair, viral antics, and raw energy, juxtaposed against a backdrop of violence, betrayal, and incarceration. His 2018 debut album, “Dummy Boy,” hit number two on the Billboard 200 despite dropping days after his arrest, while 2020's “TattleTales,” recorded post-release, leaned into his polarizing persona. Critics often pan his substance-light lyrics, but his commercial pull—evidenced by “Trollz” with Nicki Minaj hitting number one—remains undeniable. This latest freedom comes after a March 13, 2025, raid on his Florida home, where feds seized guns and drugs, though he avoided new charges. Posts on X from outlets like @FulLCircLAfrica hailed the end of his house arrest as a “major celebration,” reflecting a fanbase eager for his next move.Musically, 6ix9ine's return could reignite his trap-punk hybrid, a style that's influenced a wave of SoundCloud-era rappers. The snippet suggests he's doubling down on bombast—think pounding 808s and shouted hooks—potentially targeting the rage-rap audience he helped shape. Yet, his offstage life looms large: feuds with peers like Lil Durk, legal woes in the Dominican Republic for battery and domestic violence, and a persona that thrives on controversy. As he teased on Instagram in 2020, “Picture the noise I'm gonna make when I'm outside,” this moment feels like that prophecy fulfilled. Whether this new music, expected soon, reclaims his throne as the “King of New York” or merely stokes more chaos, 6ix9ine's knack for staying in the spotlight—ankle monitor or not—ensures all eyes are on him.

“The Marx Brothers Miscellany” is not only the name of a new book by our guest, Trav SD, it also aptly describes this episode. We engage in a free-wheeling discussion of numerous Marx topics, including their Vaudeville roots, how Gummo's role in the act and family differed from Zeppo's, and whether the Marxes are really the greatest comedy team. We also discuss the Algonquin Round Table's place in Marx lore, and Trav details how he helped Noah bring “I'll Say She Is” back to life in 2014.

A piece of post-cinema and experimental insanity by Harmony Korine (Gummo, Spring Breakers), Trash Humpers is a practice in hedonistic voyeurism, found-footage VHS, elder depravity, and plenty of garbage. A movie that questions what even is a movie, it's another great example of Korine's exploration into erratic places in film.Other topics include praise for Andor and defending the Star Wars prequels, Lord of the Rings as Christmas movies, streaming woes, The Holdovers and Alexander Payne, visiting the Music Box Theatre, Plain White T's and TLB in Chicago, and Darren on the To the Bottom podcast.Songs of the WeekSomebody That I Used To Know by Elliot SmithSmoke & Mirrors by The HivesRemainders Jukebox PlaylistWebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTubeTwitter

Hey Listener, gas up your Delorean, because this week we're going back in time with Chris Pearce to talk about WKRP in Cincinnati. He is an avid fan of television series from a bygone era and an educator that works pop culture into his classroom. Topics this week include: It wouldn't be WYI? Without a botched intro by your host. Documenting your career through comics. The joy of being a teacher in the Summer. Twitter sucks, a recurring theme of the show. Alien the High School Play and Aliens on Ice! I just want to chill on my couch and game. The jump from radios to HD televisions. Scouring the dollar bins with a wide net collector. Hey, slow down when you're reading. A dude that knows multiple people who are trying to complete the entire run of Conan the Barbarian. Trying to know as much as you can about a TV series. NBC rules Thursday night. WKRP characters in one word. The MayTag repair man. Burnout and people that can wear sunglasses inside. Redneck Terminator. Dunkin' on Dayton. Ohio talk. NYC talk. Loni Anderson. Marrying the Bandit and a good run. Herb meets HR in 2023. The Other Gal. Sharing WKRP with high school students. The Who and Cincinnati. That time your host forgets what Gummo is called. Rollerball font. Yeah, this is the show. Full on bored. The heavy lifting of MASH. The Cosby Show now. Regionalism. Chris still has cable and wouldn't mind sitting through it. How do you take in a new show? We love Oz. Night of the Living Dead. American Zombie. The Golden Retriever of TV shows. Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers.

The Life of Riley is an American radio situation comedy series of the 1940s that was adapted into a 1949 feature film, a 1950s television series, and a 1958 comic book. Radio: The radio program initially aired on the Blue Network (later known as ABC) from January 16, 1944, to July 8, 1945, it then moved to NBC, where it was broadcast from September 8, 1945, to June 29, 1951. Irving Brecher pitched the radio series for friend Groucho Marx under the title The Flotsam Family, but the sponsor balked at what would have been essentially a straight head-of-household role for Marx. (Marx would get his own series Blue Ribbon Town instead.) Brecher then saw William Bendix as taxicab company owner Tim McGuerin in Hal Roach's The McGuerins from Brooklyn (1942). Radio historian Gerald Nachman quotes Brecher as stating, "He was a Brooklyn guy and there was something about him. I thought this guy could play it. He'd made a few films, like Lifeboat, but he was not a name. So, I took The Flotsam Family script, revised it, made it a Brooklyn Family, took out the flip-flippancies and made more meat-and-potatoes, and thought of a new title, The Life of Riley. Bendix's delivery and the spin he put on his lines made it work." The reworked script cast Bendix as blundering Chester A. Riley, a wing riveter at the fictional Cunningham Aircraft plant in California. His frequent exclamation of indignation—"What a revoltin' development this is!"—became one of the most famous catchphrases of the 1940s. It was later reused by Benjamin J. Grimm of the Fantastic Four. The radio series also benefited from the immense popularity of a supporting character, Digby "Digger" O'Dell (John Brown), "the friendly undertaker." Brecher told Brown, "I want a very sepulchral voice, quavering, morbid," and he got it right away. The supporting cast featured Paula Winslowe as Riley's wife, Peg, and as Riley's mother-in law; Brown as O'Dell and as Riley's co-worker Jim Gillis; Francis "Dink" Trout as Waldo Binny; Tommy Cook, Bobby Ellis and Scotty Beckett as Junior at various times during the show's run; Barbara Eiler as Riley's daughter, Babs; Shirley Mitchell as Honeybee Gillis; Hans Conried as Uncle Baxter; and, Alan Reed as multiple characters, including Riley's boss (Mr. Stevenson) and Peg's father. Henry Morgan voiced Riley's father in one episode. Mel Blanc provided some voices as well, including that of Junior's dog Tiger as well as that of a dog catcher who claimed to have a special bond with dogs. Mitchell's Gillis often gave Riley bad information that got him into trouble, whereas Brown's Digger gave him good information that "helped him out of a hole," as he might have put it. Brown's lines as the undertaker were often repetitive, including puns based on his profession; but thanks to Brown's delivery, the audience loved him. The program was broadcast live with a studio audience, most of whom were not aware Brown played both characters. As a result, when Digger delivered his first line, it was usually greeted with howls of laughter and applause from surprised audience members. The series was co-developed by the non performing Marx Brother turned agent Gummo. The American Meat Institute (1944–45), Procter & Gamble (Teel dentifrice and Prell shampoo) (1945–49), and Pabst Blue Ribbon beer (1949–51) took turns as the radio program's sponsor. An unrelated radio show with the title Life of Riley was a summer replacement show heard on CBS from April 12, 1941, to September 6, 1941. The CBS program starred Lionel Stander as J. Riley Farnsworth and had no real connection with the more famous series that followed a few years later. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dwight-allen0/support
