For Episode 501 of the Next Best Picture Podcast, I am joined by Sara Clements and Will Mavity. For this week's main topic, we're going over the recent announcements from Venice, TIFF, and NYFF for the upcoming fall film festivals, and we're going into more detail about which films we think will be announced for the Venice Film Festival later this week on July 23rd. For this week's NBP poll question, we're asking everyone for the release of "The Odyssey," "Which Is Your Favorite Matt Damon Performance?," and we reveal the winner of last week's NBP poll, also tied to "The Odyssey," where we asked everyone, "Which Is Your Favorite Christopher Nolan Film?" We also share our reactions to the trailers for "Digger," "Behemoth!" "The Uprising," "I Play Rocky," and "The Incomer." We are still answering your fan-submitted questions, but our answers will now be released separately the day after, in a new show called Mailbag Monday! So stay tuned for that and many other new updates from Next Best Picture as this year's awards season continues. Thank you all for listening, subscribing, and supporting us. Film critic and entertainment journalist, Mara Reinstein joins host Sandra Abrams to talk about the state of the film industry from someone who covers it for a living. The life of an entertainment journalist may look glamorous, but it is not. Between the impossible deadlines when the Emmys run late, followed by an early morning screening for a major studio film, it can be a marathon for various publications. Reinstein also explains why large studios focus on remakes or franchises, fewer movies are in theaters, and the impact it has on the movie-going public. But there are a few breakout categories, and she gives insight into the new Tom Cruise movie, DIGGER, a satirical black comedy from director, Alejandro G. Inarritu, set for release in October 2026. Reinstein also shares more of her recommendations for movies to see this fall, plus she tells us about who her favorite actor was to interview - in a restaurant that was cleared out for their conversation!Check out Mara's website at maramovies.com Support the show---Subscribe to learn more about filmmaking, production, media makers, creator resources, visual storytelling, and every aspect that brings film, television, and video projects from concepts to our screens.
From the Australian outback to the world's most exclusive superyachts, Justin has lived a life few could ever imagine. After spending eight years travelling Australia with nothing more than a swag, fishing rods and a passion for adventure, Justin found himself in the superyacht industry insouthern France. Starting at the bottom, he worked his way up to Chief Officer on 120-metre luxury yachts, rubbing shoulders with billionaires, celebrities and elite military operators from around the world.Today, Justin is the founder of Dead Reckoning Rum, a global Australian rum brand now sold in seven countries. But his greatest passion goes far beyond great rum. Through his business, Justin honours Australia's fallen soldiers by creating special releases dedicated to each of the 41 diggers lost in Afghanistan, with 50% of the profits donated to veterans' organisations chosen by their families. It's an incredible conversation about adventure, resilience, purpose and giving back.info@larumblaimports.com.auhttps://deadreckoningrumusa.com/Quality Spirits Distributor | La Rumbla Imports | AdelaideInstagramFacebookRecorded live from Adelaide. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week's episode of The Empire Podcast sees one of the most revered Chrises in the movie business finally sit down with the director of The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, Oppenheimer and now The Odyssey. Yes, our Chris Hewitt has a lovely chat with Christopher Nolan, as the latter's Odyssey odyssey finally comes to an end. [47:24 - 1:09:28] Either side of that, Chris (Hewitt) is joined in the podbooth by Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Alex Godfrey to pay a heartfelt tribute to the great Sam Neill, who passed away this week at the age of 78; make their selections for the Mount Rushmore of Neill films (by popular public demand); discuss the week's movie news, including the trailer for Tom Cruise's Digger; and review Heartstopper Forever, Couples Weekend and, yes, The Odyssey. With the latter review, in particular, proving so epic it might take you ten years to recover. Enjoy.
Episode 22 of the Cosy Crime Classics Podcast sees us catch up with Thomas Magnum while he helps a big security company protect a new novel, as we take a look at J. ‘Digger' Doyle, from Season 1 of Magnum, PI. In this episode, Gerry and Iain discuss the power of the written word. This […]
The biggest movie of the year is here, and we're here for all of it on Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed on our latest episode. THE ODYSSEY. You thought your commute home was brutal. Matt Damon endures an array of mythological monsters and obstacles in Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of the ancient Greek classic. Co-starring Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo and Lupita Nyong'o. In theaters everywhere. HEARTSTOPPER FOREVER. Rather than produce a fourth season, the folks behind the "Heartstopper" queer romance series opted for a two-hour feature film. Can Nick and Charlie make it last? Will Isaac run out of books to read? Watch and find out. Streaming now on Netflix. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Alonso is out of town, so Christy did this one solo. We'd never bail on you entirely during "Odyssey" week. Among the other topics we discussed were trailers for the new Tom Cruise movie "Digger" and Tony Gilroy's "Behemoth!", Alex Gibney's Elon Musk doc, Danny Boyle's Rupert Murdoch biopic, plus we remember Sam Neill, who died this week at 78. Join us every Friday at Noon Pacific. Thanks for starting your weekend with us! Subscribe to Christy's Saturday Matinee newsletter: https://christylemire.beehiiv.com/
Enjoy a behind-the-scenes debrief from "The Deep End" podcast, where host Eric Triplet and his crew discuss their experience at the LA Pet Fair. The team explores the preparation and logistics required for the event, highlighting the transition from napkin sketches to handcrafted wooden plant displays. They credit the booth's success to a high-energy atmosphere, tropical soundscapes, and the centerpiece attraction: a massive Victoria lily. Each member offers a unique perspective on the fair, ranging from the challenges of security and humidity to the joy of educating new hobbyists. The conversation emphasizes the camaraderie and teamwork necessary to build a successful brand rooted in a passion for aquatic ecosystems. Key Takeaways: Approach every interaction with genuine kindness and a smile, as being authentically nice can help you navigate difficult logistical hurdles and solve problems more quickly. Use high-visibility branding and consistent attire to make your team stand out and ensure potential customers can easily identify who is there to help them. Focus on the presentation and elevation of your work to show its true value, as demonstrating how a product fits into a lifestyle is more impactful than just displaying the item itself. Remain flexible and willing to pivot your strategy when time or resources are tight, allowing your team's creativity to take over when original plans become unfeasible. Incorporate sensory elements like sound and lighting into your environment to create an immersive atmosphere that naturally attracts interest and keeps people engaged.
I took the Panda Express...elevator to hell. Ive had it with "Wes Anderson Robert Eggers" already. (There's a new Wolfman movie coming; start yacht-shopping NOW, Hollywood execs! Prepare for a financial windfall!) I give my thoughts on two new trailers, "Digger" and "I Play Rocky." I talk about how "nothing works like it's supposed to, ever" anymore. I watched the Dark Wizard doc on HBO and had thoughts about it, and I cried like Jon Bernthal playing the Punisher. I went to see Blow Out at the Academ Myuze-zayam, and I also went to see Hudson Hawk with all of my favorite writers in the same room hosting a Q&A. Of course I tried to talk to them afterwards, and generally failed miserably.

For episode 299, I'm joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. This episode has me reporting to Myles about The Odyssey (rave review here) after seeing it on Monday and an earlier viewing of Tony (review to come) now that embargo on reactions has lifted. I also briefly mention Her Private Hell and Super Troopers 3, though The Odyssey and Tony are a much bigger focus. We also get into some of the bigger trailers that hit during the week, including Behemoth!, Digger, and I Play Rocky. Throw in some questions and we get to plenty, as next week brings episode 300, and an announcement you won't want to miss...As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 299th one to date (here's to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. More to come each and every single week, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for listening!

Timestamps: 0:00:00 Emmy-Nominierungen0:015:00 “The Beauty”: Der Cast zieht weiter…0:18:00 “Digger”, “Dune 3”, “Mobland” S2 und “Crystal Lake” im Trailerwatch0:26:30 Sam Neill verstorben0:29:00 “Unsere kleine Farm” by Netflix0:34:00 “The Westies” by MgM+0:38:00 “Sheep” in der ZDF-Mediathek0:40:45 “Surface” in der ARD-Mediathek0:43:00 “Lucky” by AppleTV0:46:00 NeustartsHanna Twitter/ X: https://twitter.com/HannaHuge Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/mediawhore.bsky.social Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mediawhore BjarneBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/bjarnebock.bsky.socialSankt Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/0ztNeRqXyxw8Z5QpelTjnCAdam: Twitter/ X: https://twitter.com/AwesomeArndt Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/awesomearndt/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@AwesomeArndt Hosted on Acast. Buckle up! This week, we are diving deep into the most talked-about news in Hollywood.First, we break down the explosive new trailer for Alejandro G. Iñárritu's "Digger," starring Tom Cruise as a man fighting to stop a global catastrophe—could this be the role that finally nets Cruise his competitive Oscar win? Then, we head to the woods. We're discussing the chilling new teaser for the "Crystal Lake" series. Does A24's take on the Friday the 13th origin story deliver the goods, or should this franchise have stayed buried? The stakes are higher than ever for the MCU, as we unpack the massive news that "Avengers: Doomsday" is dropping ticket sales five months early. We discuss the strategic move behind "Infinity Vision" theaters, the confirmed 165-minute runtime, and the looming December box office war against Dune: Part Three.
Mostly Film – Take 238: What's NewJonathan and JP are back for List It or Nix It — Digger, Buddy, Soulm8te, and The Wrong Girls go through the gauntlet. And about that Digger trailer: Tom Cruise, a Southern accent, a pot belly, a combover, and Iñárritu calling it the culmination of Cruise's 40-year career. The Dr. Strangelove comparisons are already flying. Is this the one that gets him the Oscar, or is it too strange for its own good?In What We've Been Watching, Jonathan went deep on the Despicable Me universe (all of it, essentially), plus The Furious, Death of Robin Hood, Kiki's Delivery Service, A Goofy Movie, and Inside Out 2. JP brings Oceans 11, Send Help, The Drama, and The Furious, with House of the Dragon and Silo on the TV side.In the news: Moana opened to $43 million and it's a disaster on a $250 million budget — potentially the worst live-action Disney remake debut ever. Is that era finally over? Toy Story 5 keeps rolling toward a billion. And The Odyssey opens this Friday in IMAX — tracking for $100-120 million, which would make it Nolan's biggest opening ever. Does it have a shot at being his best film?

Mostly Film – Take 236: What's NewIt's a big one this week. Jonathan and JP are back with a mountain of trailers, an absolutely unhinged watch list, and a news cycle that genuinely did not slow down.First, List It or Nix It — fifteen trailers go through the gauntlet this week. Werwulf, Angry Birds 3, Not Alone, The Dink, The Debut, Digger, Her Private Hell, Late Fame, The Weight, Jimmy, Union County, The Devil's Mouth, Mum I'm Alien Pregnant, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, and Charlie Harper. Yes, all of them. Yes, Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant is real. Then it's What We've Been Watching, and Jonathan went absolutely feral this week — Toy Story 5, Backrooms, Obsession, Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, The Sheep Detectives, Carolina Caroline, David, and somehow also Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Minions, The Borrowers, Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, and Honey We Shrunk Ourselves. JP brings Obsession, Backrooms, and Tuner to the table. Between the two of them, a lot of ground gets covered. In the news: The Odyssey had its world premiere in London tonight — Nolan, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Hathaway, and Pattinson all on the red carpet — and the conversation around the film is complicated. 450,000 trailer dislikes, replies turned off on premiere posts, and it opens in 11 days. Does tonight change anything? Minions & Monsters had a rough July 4th opening, becoming a franchise low domestically while Toy Story 5 just kept eating. The Michael Jackson biopic quietly became the highest-grossing biopic in history. The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is reportedly dropping at SDCC on July 25. And Emmy nominations land tomorrow morning — Harrison Ford might finally be getting his flowers.
