Send us Fan MailKen Rusk was 15 years old when he walked through a hole in the fence behind his high school, into an industrial park, and asked a construction company what they did. Their answer: we dig ditches and fix wet, smelly basements. Ken said, “I thought I was qualified for that,” and took the job. He never went to college. In 1986, he founded Rusk Industries in Toledo, OH with six ditch diggers. Today it's a portfolio of construction companies with over 200 employees and nine figures in revenue. Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Blue-Collar Cash. Fox News contributor. Publicly endorsed by Tony Robbins. In this conversation, Ken and Josh dismantle the college lie (only 1 in 3 degrees ever get used), walk through Ken's 5-step Path, and unpack why Ken funds Trump Accounts for his employees' kids, launched a bourbon company for Gold Star families, and taught his framework to female inmates. For Episode 501 of the Next Best Picture Podcast, I am joined by Sara Clements and Will Mavity. For this week's main topic, we're going over the recent announcements from Venice, TIFF, and NYFF for the upcoming fall film festivals, and we're going into more detail about which films we think will be announced for the Venice Film Festival later this week on July 23rd. For this week's NBP poll question, we're asking everyone for the release of "The Odyssey," "Which Is Your Favorite Matt Damon Performance?," and we reveal the winner of last week's NBP poll, also tied to "The Odyssey," where we asked everyone, "Which Is Your Favorite Christopher Nolan Film?" We also share our reactions to the trailers for "Digger," "Behemoth!" "The Uprising," "I Play Rocky," and "The Incomer." We are still answering your fan-submitted questions, but our answers will now be released separately the day after, in a new show called Mailbag Monday! So stay tuned for that and many other new updates from Next Best Picture as this year's awards season continues. Thank you all for listening, subscribing, and supporting us. This week's episode of The Empire Podcast sees one of the most revered Chrises in the movie business finally sit down with the director of The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, Oppenheimer and now The Odyssey. Yes, our Chris Hewitt has a lovely chat with Christopher Nolan, as the latter's Odyssey odyssey finally comes to an end. [47:24 - 1:09:28] Either side of that, Chris (Hewitt) is joined in the podbooth by Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Alex Godfrey to pay a heartfelt tribute to the great Sam Neill, who passed away this week at the age of 78; make their selections for the Mount Rushmore of Neill films (by popular public demand); discuss the week's movie news, including the trailer for Tom Cruise's Digger; and review Heartstopper Forever, Couples Weekend and, yes, The Odyssey. With the latter review, in particular, proving so epic it might take you ten years to recover. Enjoy.

The biggest movie of the year is here, and we're here for all of it on Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed on our latest episode. THE ODYSSEY. You thought your commute home was brutal. Matt Damon endures an array of mythological monsters and obstacles in Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of the ancient Greek classic. Co-starring Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo and Lupita Nyong'o. In theaters everywhere. HEARTSTOPPER FOREVER. Rather than produce a fourth season, the folks behind the "Heartstopper" queer romance series opted for a two-hour feature film. Can Nick and Charlie make it last? Will Isaac run out of books to read? Watch and find out. Streaming now on Netflix. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Alonso is out of town, so Christy did this one solo. We'd never bail on you entirely during "Odyssey" week. Among the other topics we discussed were trailers for the new Tom Cruise movie "Digger" and Tony Gilroy's "Behemoth!", Alex Gibney's Elon Musk doc, Danny Boyle's Rupert Murdoch biopic, plus we remember Sam Neill, who died this week at 78. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes debrief from "The Deep End" podcast, where host Eric Triplet and his crew discuss their experience at the LA Pet Fair. The team explores the preparation and logistics required for the event, highlighting the transition from napkin sketches to handcrafted wooden plant displays. They credit the booth's success to a high-energy atmosphere, tropical soundscapes, and the centerpiece attraction: a massive Victoria lily. Each member offers a unique perspective on the fair, ranging from the challenges of security and humidity to the joy of educating new hobbyists. The conversation emphasizes the camaraderie and teamwork necessary to build a successful brand rooted in a passion for aquatic ecosystems. Key Takeaways: Approach every interaction with genuine kindness and a smile, as being authentically nice can help you navigate difficult logistical hurdles and solve problems more quickly. Use high-visibility branding and consistent attire to make your team stand out and ensure potential customers can easily identify who is there to help them. Focus on the presentation and elevation of your work to show its true value, as demonstrating how a product fits into a lifestyle is more impactful than just displaying the item itself. Remain flexible and willing to pivot your strategy when time or resources are tight, allowing your team's creativity to take over when original plans become unfeasible. Incorporate sensory elements like sound and lighting into your environment to create an immersive atmosphere that naturally attracts interest and keeps people engaged.

According to Deadline's sources, Michael Waldron, who has written a number of MCU projects including Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as well as the first treatment of the never-to-be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, is developing the script for a Nova feature film. Waldron is currently on the Avengers: Doomsday writing team with Steven McFeely and a Nova focused TV or film project has long been rumored to be in the works for Marvel; Last week Warner Bros and Legendary released the official trailer for Dune: Part Three, the seemingly epic conclusion to Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Frank Herbet's fundamental sci-fi source material. The trailer, like the teasers before it, depicts the conflict situated around the rise and fall of Timothee Chalamet's warmongering, would-be messiah, Paul Atriedes, while showcasing the star-studded cast of newcomers, and returning characters in more ways than one. Dune: Part Three has yet to waiver from its December debut coinciding with Avengers: Doomsday; The post-Supergirl DCU has been the subject of much consternation and the latest pieces of news coming from the studio and franchise do little to change the tunes on either side of the chorusline. First, Jimmy Tatro is reportedly in talks to voice Gorilla Grodd in the Jimmy Olsen TV spinoff series that is supposedly titled DC Crime. Elsewhere, Deadline sources claim Xolo Marideuna is set to suit up as the Blue Beetle once more in Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to 2025's Superman.Avengers: Doomsday tickets go on sale July 20, and the early sale announcement comes with a confirmed runtime of 165 minutes. Julianne Nicholson joins Season 2 of HBO's Task, reprising her Emmy-winning Mare of Easttown role as Lori Ross and officially placing the two shows in the same universe. Prime Video released first look images at Carrie, Mike Flanagan's series adaptation of the Stephen King novel, coming this fall. Paramount has closed a deal for U.S. rights to Wes Craven's original A Nightmare on Elm Street screenplay, with plans to adapt it into a new feature. Sam Neill, star of Jurassic Park, The Piano, and In the Mouth of Madness, has died at 78. The live-action Moana opened to $95 million worldwide, well under projections, with Deadline reporting the film stands to lose $100-125 million. Warner Bros. dropped the first trailer for Digger, Alejandro G. Iñárritu's film starring Tom Cruise as oil baron Digger Rockwell, in theaters October 2. The M3GAN spinoff Soulm8te is skipping theaters after being pulled from Universal's calendar and heads straight to digital on August 1. The 2026 Emmy nominations were announced last week and are led by HBO Max's The Pitt with 25 nominations, narrowly ahead of the final season of Hacks with 24, making them the clear frontrunners heading into September's ceremony. The first trailer arrived for Buddy, Casper Kelly's horror comedy starring Cristin Milioti and Keegan-Michael Key, hitting theaters August 28.New Line's The Conuring prequel The Conjuring: First Communion has cast Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix in lead roles. The pair will play young versions of franchise characters Ed and Lorraine Warren.A coalition of a dozen states on Monday sued to block Paramount Skydance's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, posing a new challenge to the $110 billion deal that would unite two of the nation's largest media companies.
