We were honored to have on Tristan Truescott and Peter Ragnar the creators of Good Morning Good Evening Qigong. I was amazed that Peter has been practicing Qigong for over 60 years and Tristan has been heavily into it for many many years as well. Qigong is a form of "energy" (Qi) "work" (Gong) that people can do to decrease stress, increase their energy as well as their vitality. To be honest I've only been doing it for about 6 months now (nothing compared to Tristan and Peter) but I really enjoy it and feel a noticeable difference. There's a reason that Qigong has been around for thousands and thousands of years. Just because we don't know much about the practice here in the West doesn't mean it's not valid, it just means that we're ignorant of its benefits. The idea behind Qigong is that every cell in essence is simply vibrating forms of energy. If you look into quantum mechanics and string theory this idea that we're all energy is what these scientific disciplines are all about. They study photons, quarks and the most elemental particles in existence. They all vibrate and they all act as energy. The idea is that energy in the body comes from somewhere and it's actually possible to cultivate that energy. We can store it and build it for use throughout the day. Have you ever been around somebody and notice how you feel like they suck the energy out of you? Perhaps it's their petty little dramas that they suck you into or maybe it's some emotional situation where you feel drained afterwards. When you get involved in that downward spiral vortex of negative energy, you start to notice an emotional and energetic drainage going on. You feel tired and without any vitality. This energy has been described by some as a one time battery pack of energy that we get when we're born and when we use it all up, then our soul says it's time to check off the planet and move onto bigger and better things. What if there were a way (similar to sleep) where we could actually restore this energy that's lost that would help us add years to our life and life to our years? Well, Qigong is the best way to do that. In the West we participate in many "Yang" or is it "Yin" exercises that deplete our bodies of energy like lifting weights, going for a run, bike riding or playing sports. These are all exercises that steel our one time battery pack of life force away from us. There's nothing wrong with that and they're actually really amazing for getting rid of pent up aggression, anger or stress. But still that energy is being lost. On top of that, the rest of your day is most likely very stressful which also depletes our core energy. Then to add insult to injury most of us aren't getting enough sleep (which is similar to Qigong in that it helps the body to restore energy). Even worse most people are eating foods that further rob them of essential energy. No wonder chronic fatigue is rampant, everybody is tires and few people live inspired lives full of vitality and passion! We have all of these "things" each day that are constantly robbing our body of energy. So what's the answer? Qigong is the best way to restore this energy back into the body. Having this energy allows you to sleep better (which further helps all biological processes), to heal faster and have more inspiration to actually accomplish those dreams you had many years ago. It's an amazing art that's been practiced in the East for over 4,000 years and it's my contention that we would all be much better off if we opened our minds up to be able to accept some of these practices into our stress filled lives. It must be the Aussie in me. ;) We had been going back and forth with Kit for a few months trying to work out a good date and time to coordinate a show. The time change from Tasmania to California gave us some challenges so it was finally a lot of fun to connect with Kit. She had been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 40 years ago and has an incredible story of healing from all manner of digestive diseases. As we all know the name of the game is digestion. If you are able to digest, absorb and assimilate your food properly there's a very high chance you'll be disease free most of your life. It has been said that all disease begins in the colon. [include file=get-in-itunes.html]Today we had a really fun talk with Tristan Truscott about the ancient practice of Qigong and how he used Qigong to heal from a devastating back injury and completely transform his life. We talked about how Qigong is really just "energy work". We talked about what Qi (pronounced "chi") is and how the ancients worked with it to heal their bodies, gain more energy and live for very very long without the chronic degenerative diseases we see in our culture today. Qi is life force. It's just energy. As we've been learning lately we are all vibratory energy systems housed in a corporeal form in order to live here on earth. When you get down to the quantum level, everything is vibrating at certain energetic frequencies and there's a way to cultivate the energy it takes for your atoms to vibrate the way they do. It's called working with your Qi. Think of Qi as a battery of energy that we get at birth. Every single day we're depleting our batteries. This energy or battery is what allows us to heal from disease. It's what allows us to have enough energy to live the life we want. Without energy we can't accomplish much in this world. Every time we get stressed out, don't sleep enough, eat the wrong foods, don't move the body enough, get involved in other people's drama we're depleting our Qi or life force energy. Getting a good sleep is one way to help prevent the Qi from being depleted. But Qigong goes one step further and actually allows us to rebuild the Qi we have squandered throughout our lives to this point. It's almost like a time machine in the sense that you can rebuild lost energy from days gone by. It's similar to Tai Chi, yoga, meditation and other yin arts. As a young man Tristan became involved in the Martial Arts where he began his study of the mind-body-spirit connection. After many years of dedicated training Tristan was granted the coveted level of Black Belt and went on to build a thriving Martial Arts academy with over 300 students. In the year 2000 Tristan was forced to end his career, due to a crippling back injury. Even after 5 years of intense pain, $10,000 worth of alternative healing treatments, and an unsuccessful $90,000 surgery, Tristan was still unable to walk properly, let alone teach again. In spite of the pain and disappointment, Tristan pushed onward, reading and studying everything he could about the power of the subconscious mind, visualization, affirmation, meditation, qigong healing and the law of attraction. One day, after years of research, trial and error and wonderful Ah-Ha moments, Tristan finally had his breakthrough. He discovered how to allow the flow of life force energy, combined with the power of his own mental focus, to reverse his condition and expedite his healing. This exciting discovery, of how the mind-body-spirit connection worked, gave Tristan the ability to fully recover from the injury that had crippled him for so many years. In a desire to share this information with others, Tristan went on to create programs with his wife Sabrina for healing the mind and strengthening the body, using ancient and contemporary mind-body-spirit exercises — these programs have evolved into the Satori Method. Today Tristan loves helping people grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually; it is a joy for him to give back and share what he has learned though his life challenges.
