Join the FREE Astro-Herbalism Mini-Course that's happening right now: https://www.evolutionaryherbalism.com/astro-herbalism-mini-course/ In medical astrology, the Sun represents the gravitational center of the psyche and of the body. Just as the planets orbit the Sun, so too does our physiology organize itself around a central core of vitality, expressed through the heart, the circulation of blood, and the distribution of warmth throughout our organism. When the solar principle is strong, we see resilience, clarity, steady immunity, and a sense of inner coherence. When it is weak, patterns of fatigue, coldness, poor circulation, and psychoemotional instability may emerge. In this episode, I'll explore four medicinal plants that are powerful expressions of the solar archetype. Through the lenses of heart, warmth, vitality, and spirit, we'll examine how Hawthorn, Angelica, Ashwagandha, and St. John's Wort restore the solar force within us, bridging alchemical philosophy with grounded clinical application. Here's what you'll learn: The deeper alchemical and medical astrology meaning of the Sun as the center of the psyche and the body The Sun's rulership of the heart, cardiovascular system, and core vitality How solar vitality influences immune strength and resilience Why Hawthorn is a primary cardiovascular trophorestorative and Shen stabilizer How Angelica restores warmth, circulation, and digestive fire in cold, deficient patterns How Ashwagandha builds steady, calm vitality rather than overstimulation How St. John's Wort protects and uplifts the psychoemotional "solar spirit," including its liver and nervous system connections ———————————— CONNECT WITH SAJAH AND WHITNEY ———————————— To get free in depth mini-courses and videos, visit our blog at: http://www.evolutionaryherbalism.com Get daily inspiration and plant wisdom on our Facebook and Instagram channels: http://www.facebook.com/EvolutionaryHerbalism https://www.instagram.com/evolutionary_herbalism/ Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyP63opAmcpIAQg1M9ShNSQ Get a free 5-week course when you buy a copy of the book, Evolutionary Herbalism: https://www.evolutionaryherbalism.com/evolutionary-herbalism-book/ Shop our herbal products: https://naturasophiaspagyrics.com/ ———————————— ABOUT THE PLANT PATH ———————————— The Plant Path is a window into the world of herbal medicine.

Shen Tao has always wanted to be a writer. For as long as she can remember, she's had ideas, developed characters, and written stories. It took her 9 attempts, 9 manuscripts, to finally get it done. Her debut is 'The Poet Empress'. It's a Chinese historical fantasy, blended with a love story and a murder mystery. It tells the story of a young woman, who enters the Imperial Court as a concubine, and learns poetry-magic to try and kill the heir to the tale. We talk about how she pushed on, through the failed manuscripts, and had an idea she knew would be a winner. A winner it was, eventually being bought in a 6-way auction. You can hear why she's prepared to chuck words away, why she writes a '0th draft', and how her routine has changed since going full-time.We chat about the pressure of getting it right, her unique inspiration blending both Chinese and Western myths and stories, and Shen shares her strong font opinions.Get a copy of the book - uk.bookshop.org/shop/writersroutineRead the newsletter - writersroutine.substack.comSupport the show - patreon.com/writersroutineko-fi.com/writersroutine@writerspodwritersroutine.com Hosted on Acast. You were never on trial — guilt, shame, and self-blame are learned illusions, not truth. In this episode of Tao Dialogues, we explore how to end guilt, shame, and self-blame by recognising a powerful truth: you are not on trial. Many of us replay the past, defending ourselves in an inner emotional courtroom shaped by childhood conditioning and the Inner Child's need to be “right.” But Taoist wisdom and wu wei (effortless effort) remind us that guilt and shame are not facts — they are emotions created from beliefs.Through the lens of Shen (your intrinsic spiritual essence) and the Golden Thread Process, we uncover how to release self-judgment, step out of emotional drama, and return to clarity, compassion, and alignment. This episode is for you if you:Struggle with guilt, regret, or shameReplay past mistakes and self-blameFeel trapped in perfectionism or people-pleasingWant emotional freedom rooted in Taoist wisdomRead the blog post that inspired this episode: https://davidjameslees.substack.com/p/empty-courtroom Our Tao Dialogues are powerful yet gentle teachings about authenticity, spirituality and finding emotional balance and flow in everyday life. Reading Slump? Tips to Get Out of It + Our “Slump Slayer” Cocktail (Books & Booze Podcast)In this episode of The Plot With a Twist, we chat about what a reading slump feels like, what causes it, and practical ways to get excited about books again—cocktail in hand. We talk about common triggers like overhyped reads that don't deliver, book hangovers after an epic series, reading outside your mood, genre burnout (especially heavy or emotional books), overcommitting to ARCs and beta reads, being mentally stuck in a beloved fictional world, and the way social media/content pressure can suck the joy out of reading. We also cover how life stress, exhaustion, and even falling asleep mid-read or mid-audiobook can contribute. Our slump-busting tips include rereading a comfort favorite, trying a new or rarely-read genre, changing your reading style (paperback/Kindle/audio), and not forcing it. We share specific books and series that helped us recover (including Hunger Games, Fourth Wing, Harry Potter, Bewitched & Bewildered, Lights Out, Ruinous Love trilogy, Trick by Natalia Jaster, Hockey Gods, the Beautiful series by Christina Lauren, the “Why Mummy…” books by Jill Sims, Bishop by L.J. Shen, and Succubus Blues). Meet Richard Lam-- Master TEAM CBT Teacher and Therapist! Today we chat with Richard Lam. Richard is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Mountain View, California. He is a graduate of Palo Alto University. He currently provides short-term therapy for anxiety, OCD, habits/addictions, depression, and relationship concerns using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Richard also trains other therapists in David Burn's model of CBT called TEAM-CBT Therapy. He is a certified Level 5 Master Therapist and Trainer in TEAM-CBT Therapy. And today, Richard has gifts for you! They are fantastic! See below! I began by asking Richard how he got interested in teaching. When he was first learning, he was tutored by Dr. Angela Krumm, an advanced TEAM CBT practitioner and one of the three founders of the Feeling Good Institute. He was loving the training, but one day she said, "That's all I can teach you. Now you have to start teaching!" And that started the wagon rolling down the hill. Richard is particularly interested in developing free self-help tools for patients, but also runs a special training class for TEAM CBT therapists who themselves want to become trainers. It meets in-person at the FGI office on Mondays from 12 to 2 PM. If interested, contact Richard (contact information is at bottom of show notes.) Richard is one of our most articulate TEAM CBT teachers, and is renown for some of his live demonstrations of specific techniques, like Forced Empathy. He has created a series of multi-page interactive teaching guides for a variety of techniques, so you can learn exactly how to do the Double Standard Technique, or the Externalization of Voices in a simple, clear, step-ty-step manner. Here are links to several examples. Check them out and feel free to share them with your patients if you are a TEAM therapist. These links are all kick ass! Check them out and do the exercises. You'll be glad you did! Link to Double Standard Technique Link to Externalization of Voices Link to Externalization of Resistance Link to I Feel Statements, Part 1 Link to I Feel Statements, Part 2 Link to Feared Fantasy Link to Forced Empathy Link to Forced Empathy Handout Link to Future Projection, for Habits Link to Paradoxical Ultimatum Richard tells us that mental health works a lot like physical health. When we don't regularly care for our bodies, things start to deteriorate and the same is true for our minds. These tools give you a way to keep nurturing your mental health so you can maintain a strong, healthy mind. Richard and I also discussed Acceptance--one of the most difficult concepts for patients and therapists alike to "get." I was delighted to learn he has a five-point plan to help people grasp this concept. Richard's Five Steps to Acceptance 1. The Win-Win Principle: How can I see this loss as a win? In high school, Richard had a patient whose heart was set on making the varsity basketball team, and was heartbroken when he only made the junior varsity team. But then he got to thinking that it would be fun to be the start on the JV team because his best friend is also going to be in JV. He relaxed and started to enjoy his practices with the team. And He was promptly promoted to the varsity team! 2. Remember the butterfly effect! Richard described getting angry and frustrated when he was late for an important appointment, and the car in front of him was moving slowly and caused a delay at a red light. His first impulse was to get angry and insist it SHOULDN'T have happened. But then, in reflection, he thought: "Wait a minute. This delay will change the entire trajectory of the rest of my life. And who knows, this could have save my life from some future tragedy if the trajectory of my life had been on time." 3, Growth mindset I have always thought of this important idea in simple terms. There is really no such "thing," from a Buddhist perspective, as "success" or "failure." These are just experiences. But often things do not turn out as one hoped. Instead of caving in, giving up, or feeling depressed or frustrated, although those are perfectly reasonable human experiences, you can accept your failure and view it as an opportunity for growth and learning. Our 9 month old grandson has reminded me that when we are learning to walk, we "fail" constantly, falling over, etc. But these are steps in learning that eventually culminates in the ability to walk--which is a miracle! 4. The spiritual view Acceptance can be thought of as letting go of judgement. Richard treated a woman who was angry at God because she could not have children, and she had always dreamed of having a big family. But from a medical perspective, her anger and constant agitation were actually the main reason she couldn't get pregnant. Shen she began working on reducing her anger using TEAM CBT, she was able to relax, and accept her fate with greater in peace. And then she suddenly got pregnant! I, David, have seen this on many occasions. Check out Podcast #7f9, one of our most popular podcasts ever, with Daisy: "What is the Secret of a Meaningful Life?" Or Podcasts 268 - 269, featuring live work with our beloved Dr. Carly Zankman. Or #349: "What if my family rejects me?" All of these podcasts were amazing, and resulted in rapid pregnancies! 5. Empathy vs anger Richard described getting VERY angry when someone broke into his car and stole a bunch of stuff, but then asked himself why they did it. He realized that they were probably struggling and desperate for money--for drugs, for food, for family. Understanding someone's story can help lower the anger that you feel. Leadership today requires more than skill, strategy, or resilience alone — it requires courage that is grounded, aligned, and sustainable. Eveline Shen, who prefers to be called Ev, is an award-winning leader and social change strategist with more than two decades of experience building movements and developing courageous leaders. As the former executive director of one of the largest women-of-color-led, multi-issue organizations in the country, she helped expand the national Reproductive Justice movement. Today, as the founder of Leading Courageously, Ev teaches leaders how to stay true to their values, transform adversity into strength, and sustain their impact through her Courageous Operating System. In this episode, we explore how leaders can move beyond reactive leadership and instead operate from a deeply integrated system that aligns values, strengths, purpose, and courage. What you will learn from this episode: Why leadership tools alone are insufficient without an integrated system. What the Courageous Operating System is and how it aligns nine core leadership components. Why women and marginalized leaders often need permission and support to fully claim their leadership power. Topics Covered: 02:45 – Ev's journey from intern to executive director and movement builder. 05:10 – Building leaderful organizations within the Reproductive Justice movement. 07:20 – Why Ev founded Leading Courageously and shifted to leadership development full-time. 09:15 – Coaching, team work, and leadership programs as a sustainable business model. 11:10 – Why Ev wrote Choosing to Lead Against the Current. 13:30 – The leadership gap: why new leaders are promoted without support or training. 15:40 – Tools vs. systems: what makes the Courageous Operating System different. 19:05 – Courage as staying true to values, not people-pleasing or firefighting. 20:40 – Everyday acts of courage and why women leaders underestimate them. Key Takeaways: "Leadership tools are helpful, but without a system, they can't carry you through complexity." — Eveline Shen "The Courageous Operating System interlocks leadership components so they move in the same direction." — Eveline Shen "Courage is not just about bold moments — it's about everyday decisions." — Eveline Shen "When leaders slow down, they create space to lead from purpose instead of reaction." — Eveline Shen "Staying true to your values often requires more courage than taking action." — Eveline Shen Ways to Connect with Eveline Shen: Website: https://leadingcourageously.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/eveline-shen-a600b8b/ Book: Choosing to Lead Against the Current Ways to Connect with Sarah E. In episode 246 of America Adapts, host Doug Parsons hosts Dr. Shiran Victoria Shen, assistant professor at Washington University in St. Louis, for a closer look at how climate adaptation actually emerges in China. Drawing on her research after the devastating 2021 Henan flood, Shen shows how public demand for adaptation surged—not through climate change language, but through calls for safety, infrastructure, and risk reduction, often using formal government channels. The conversation highlights adaptation as a lived governance issue rather than an ideological one, and surfaces practical lessons about public participation, the limits of top-down approaches, and what governments everywhere tend to respond to when climate risk becomes impossible to ignore. Procrastination isn't laziness — it's a signal calling you back to stillness, clarity, and aligned action. In this episode of Tao Dialogues, we explore the stillness before action — a Taoist approach to ending procrastination and perfectionism without force, pressure, or self-criticism.Rather than pushing yourself forward, this teaching invites you inward — to the sacred pause where Shen (inner wisdom and clarity) aligns and true action is born. We uncover how procrastination often arises from the Inner Child's need for safety, not a lack of discipline, and how wu wei (effortless effort) restores natural momentum. You'll learn how to:Stop fighting procrastination and listen to its messageRelease perfectionism without lowering your standardsUse stillness as preparation, not avoidanceTake aligned action that flows from truth, not fearRead the blog post that inspired this episode: https://davidjameslees.substack.com/p/shifting-the-storyOur Tao Dialogues are powerful yet gentle teachings about authenticity, spirituality and finding emotional balance and flow in everyday life. Ever wake up after eight hours and still feel like your mind is wrapped? In this episode of Migraine Heroes Podcast, host Diane Ducarme unpacks why “sleep” and “recovery” are not the same thing — and why the brain needs true rest to restore blood flow, clear waste, and lift the fog that so many migraine-prone people live with.We explore how neuroscience and Eastern medicine both point toward the same truth: deep rest is nourishment. And when your brain doesn't get it, everything — focus, memory, mood, and migraine thresholds — begins to fray. You'll discover:

China's consumer inflation accelerated to its fastest pace in nearly three years in December, official data showed on Friday, signaling a stabilizing economy as recent stimulus measures continued to bolster domestic demand.Going forward, analysts said consumer inflation is expected to remain mild through 2026, leaving ample room for policymakers to step up macroeconomic adjustment to counter mounting uncertainties. Policy options include targeted measures to boost domestic demand and support innovation, as well as further cuts to the reserve requirement ratio and interest rates. The country's consumer price index, the main gauge of inflation, rose by 0.8 percent year-on-year in December, following a 0.7 percent rise in November, marking the highest level since February 2023, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Friday."China's latest consumer inflation data points to a continued strengthening in domestic demand, mainly driven by the impact of consumption-boosting policies and the release of demand ahead of the New Year holiday," said Tang Guang hua, an analyst at Shen yin & Wan guo Futures Co. "Meanwhile, the core CPI remained above 1 percent for four consecutive months in December, highlighting a steady improvement in consumption fundamentals."The improving inflation data has reflected the growing momentum of the Chinese economy, with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank having raised their growth forecasts for China's economy. The IMF forecasts a 5 percent GDP expansion in 2025 and 4.5 percent for 2026, while Goldman Sachs said this week that it expects China's GDP to grow 4.8 percent in real terms in 2026, supported by a policy-backed investment rebound, the potential of service consumption, resilient export growth and a milder drag of the property sector. With economic momentum showing signs of improving, Chinese stocks moved higher on Friday, with the Shanghai Composite Index posting a solid gain of 0.92 percent to close at 4,120.43 points, topping the psychologically important 4,100 points to reach a decade high. Since the beginning of the year, the index has risen by 3.82 percent, indicating a continuous improvement in investor confidence.NBS data showed the core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices and is deemed a better gauge of supply-demand conditions, rose 1.2 percent year-on-year in December, unchanged from November.Meanwhile, China's producer price index — which measures factory-gate prices — fell by 1.9 percent year-on-year in December, narrowing from a 2.2 percent drop in November, the NBS said.Tang from Shenyin & Wanguo Futures Co said the narrowing decline in factory-gate prices showed strengthening recovery momentum, signaling both improving industrial fundamentals and deeper structural optimization. He expects consumer prices to rise steadily on the back of continued consumption recovery and policy support, while PPI recovery momentum is set to strengthen further given the progress in building a unified national market, industrial restructuring and rising demand from emerging industries as key drivers, particularly for high-end manufacturing. As the NBS is set to release the economic indicators for December and the fourth quarter later this month, Li Chao, chief economist at Zheshang Securities, said China's economic growth is expected to have remained resilient toward the end of 2025, fueled by relatively strong production and a gradual recovery in demand. He said that economic activity likely picked up in December, with both domestic and external demand gradually improving and companies pushing to meet year-end targets. "That will help support China to achieve its full-year growth target of around 5 percent in 2025, while laying the groundwork for a strong start in 2026."During the recently held 2026 work conference of the People's Bank of China, the country's central bank said it will continue to implement an appropriately accommodative monetary policy in 2026, underscoring its commitment to supporting high-quality economic development and promoting a reasonable rebound in prices.Li from Zheshang Securities said his team expects a 50 basis-point cut in the RRR and a 10 basis-point reduction in policy interest rates over the year.Li added that structural policy tools are expected to continue to play a key role, alongside stronger credit guidance to channel funding toward priority areas.Expanding domestic demand, advancing technological innovation and supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are likely to remain the main focus of policy support in 2026, he said.

When I was younger, I thought it improper to ask God to help me meet writing deadlines. Other people have greater needs, I told myself. Family problems. Health crises. Job letdowns. Financial needs. I’ve faced all those things, too. But meeting a writing deadline seemed too small to take to God. I changed my view, however, after finding multiple examples in the Bible of God helping people regardless of the challenge they faced. In one story, the Israelites were dismayed because they faced an attack at Mizpah by their enemies, the Philistines. “[The Israelites] said to Samuel, ‘Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines’ ” (1 Samuel 7:8). In response, Samuel sacrificed a lamb to God, crying out to Him on Israel’s behalf, “and the Lord answered him” (v. 9). “While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to attack Israel. But that day the Lord thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites” (v. 10). Later, “Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us’ ” (v. 12). Samuel placed the stone to commemorate God helping His people. Ebenezer means “stone of help.” Asking God for help is always proper. Let’s call out to Him today.
