The Rickey Smiley Morning Show kicks things off with inspiration before diving into a mix of trending headlines, celebrity buzz, and real-life conversations that keep listeners locked in. Comedian Sheryl Underwood is celebrating a major career moment with a Netflix comedy special on the way—set for a one-night event and executive produced by Kevin Hart after her standout performance at his recent roast. Meanwhile, NFL star Dak Prescott has social media talking after being spotted with his ex-fiancée’s former bridesmaid at a Texas event, sparking dating rumors—though both insist they’re just friends despite eyewitness reports suggesting otherwise. The show also taps into sports updates, mental health awareness conversations, and plenty of comedic moments that balance the heavier news. Things heat up even more with viral celebrity headlines, including legendary actress Pam Grier opening up about her love life and aging, revealing on a podcast that intimacy has changed with time and even joking that it can last “three days” at her age. On the political and economic front, rising gas prices are becoming a major concern, driven in part by escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, which have pushed oil prices higher and added pressure to consumers already feeling financial strain. From entertainment to real-world impact, the show blends humor, culture, and commentary—keeping listeners informed while still delivering the laughs and conversation they expect. A month ago the Artemis II crew landed safely in the Pacific Ocean, completing their historic space mission to the far side of the moon. It's been several decades since the last human mission to the moon - although this time there was no landing. However, the 4 astronauts travelled further from earth than any human ever has so far. David Aaronovitch asks his guests whether space exploration is back in fashion and if so what's next? And are we any closer to a human mission to Mars and what would we hope to achieve there?Guests: Dr Julia Balm, Research Associate, Freeman Air and Space Institute in the School of Security Studies, King's College London Professor Andrew Coates, Mullard Space Science Laboratory, University College London Libby Jackson, Head of Space, Science Museum, London Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Sally Abrahams, Kirsteen Knight Production Co-Ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineer: James Beard Editor: Richard Vadon

Join the newsletter: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=YqJKtR&g=Ww3gx3 At 89 years old, Dr. Arnold Gilberg still feels 40. That is not a metaphor, it is a philosophy. I sat down with this Beverly Hills psychiatrist, ordained rabbi, and author of The Myth of Aging, trained by one of Sigmund Freud's own colleagues, to talk about the one enemy more dangerous than getting older: disengagement. What we explore: - How disengagement, not aging itself, is the true driver of physical and mental decline. - Why curiosity is the master key to staying mentally alive as you grow older. - How self-forgiveness unlocks behavioral change that willpower alone never can. - Why psychiatry's drift toward medication alone is leaving patients behind. - Why gratitude, practiced daily, is one of the most powerful tools for vitality. - How giving yourself grace, not perfection, finally allows people to act on what they know. - What happiness really looks like across a lifetime, and why expecting constant joy backfires. - Why vulnerability between doctor and patient, not clinical distance, is what heals. About Dr. Arnold Gilberg: Arnold L. Gilberg, MD, PhD, received his bachelor's degree in political science and Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois. He interned at the Los Angeles General Medical Center. He is the last person alive trained by Franz Alexander, MD, a distinguished colleague of Sigmund Freud. His psychiatric training took place at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was chief psychiatric resident. He also has a doctorate in psychoanalysis from the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Gilberg is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the former Clinical Chief of Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and an associate clinical professor at UCLA School of Medicine (honorary). He served for ten years under three different governors on the Medical Board of California for LA County, and has treated thousands of patients in his Los Angeles-based practice.

Trent speaks candidly about fear, resilience, and how surviving that battle strengthened him both as a man and as a leader in the locker room. The conversation dives into what it's like blocking for dynamic playmaker Christian McCaffrey, the art of creating space for one of the NFL's most versatile weapons, and how the 49ers' offensive system maximizes talent. Trent gives rare insight into the brilliance of head coach Kyle Shanahan, breaking down why Shanahan's scheme is so difficult to defend and what makes him one of the true offensive geniuses in the game today. The guys also talk about Trent's Super Bowl experience and how he went into a dark place after losing the big game to the Chiefs. From Pro Bowl dominance to personal adversity, leadership, legacy, and what the future holds, this episode is a masterclass in perseverance and greatness from one of the best to ever do it. Before AI, before social media, before the dot-com boom…there was Shawn Tully. Nearly 50 years later, there's still Shawn Tully — Fortune's Senior Editor-at-Large, still cranking out thought-provoking stories about the world's most powerful business leaders. On this episode of Press Profiles, Shawn reflects on five decades of reporting, from covering European business in Paris to flying on Donald Trump's private plane, to spending hours inside CEOs' offices chasing the perfect anecdote. He shares why storytelling matters as much as spreadsheets, how trust is built over decades, and why the best business journalism reads like narrative — not news copy. Along the way, we hear about tennis with Bobby Riggs, inventing the term "HENRYs," and what motivates him to "keep cranking" after all these years.

UNH and Health Stocks - DOWN 20% today - The administration's proposal (via the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS) for Medicare Advantage reimbursement rates to rise by only 0.09% in 2027. This was far below Wall Street expectations of 4-6% (or higher), following a more generous ~5% increase for 2026. - The near-flat rate aims to improve payment accuracy, curb overbilling practices, and protect taxpayers, according to CMS statements, but it sparked widespread concerns about squeezed insurer margins, potential benefit cuts for seniors, reduced plan offerings, or market exits. - UnitedHealth has significant exposure to Medicare Advantage (roughly 30% of national enrollment), making it particularly vulnerable. The proposal, announced late Monday (January 26), led to a broader sell-off in health insurers: - - Humana (HUM) plunged over 20-21%. - - CVS Health (CVS) and Elevance Health (ELV) each dropped around 13-14%. Tech Earnings Microsoft (MSFT) Reports: Wednesday, January 28 (After Market Close) - Wall Street Expectations: Earnings per share (EPS): about $3.86 and Revenue: about $80 billion - Growth: high teens year over year revenue growth - Investors are focused on Azure and broader cloud growth, particularly how much of that growth is coming from AI related demand. Microsoft has built a reputation for consistent execution, which also means expectations are high. The critical issues will be cloud growth sustainability, margin stability, and how aggressively management plans to keep spending on AI infrastructure. Meta Platforms (META) Reports: Wednesday, January 28 (After Market Close) - Wall Street Expectations: EPS: about $8.15–$8.20 and Revenue: about $58–$59 billion - Growth: roughly 20–21% year over year revenue growth - Advertising remains the core driver, with AI driven ad targeting continuing to improve returns for advertisers. While topline growth expectations remain strong, investors are closely watching expense growth. The biggest question is whether rising AI and infrastructure spending can be managed without eroding margins or spooking investors, as Meta works through the next phase of its AI strategy. Tesla (TSLA) Reports: Wednesday, January 28 (After Market Close) - Wall Street Expectations: EPS (non GAAP): about $0.40–$0.45 and Revenue: about $24.5–$25 billion - Trend: earnings expected to be sharply lower than a year ago - Tesla enters earnings with the weakest expectations among the major tech names this week. Vehicle deliveries declined year over year, and automotive margins remain under pressure. While the energy and services segments continue to grow, they are not yet large enough to offset slowing EV demand. - Investors will be far more focused on forward guidance than on the quarter itself—particularly updates on Full Self Driving, robotaxis, and the broader AI roadmap. Apple (AAPL) Reports: Thursday, January 29 (After Market Close) Wall Street Expectations - EPS: about $2.65–$2.67 and Revenue: about $138 billion Growth: approximately 11–12% year over year revenue growth - This is Apple's most important quarter of the year. Expectations call for record revenue driven by the iPhone 17 cycle and continued Services growth. The focus will be on margins, China demand, and forward guidance—particularly how higher costs (memory prices and tariffs) may impact profitability. Apple typically beats expectations, but the stock reaction will hinge on what management says about growth beyond this quarter. Company Ticker Report Date Est.
