In hour two, the KD to Miami dream continues to grow following a report from Shams that Durant has zero interest in a Warriors reunion. During Cat Talk, Solana claims Alexander Ovechkin's goal count is phony. Our Super Bowl correspondent - Josh Appel - joins the show completely pixelated from either Radio Row or the moon. After, Dave Mason of Bet Online joins the show to run through prop bets for Sunday's Super Bowl.
Some snow possible tonight…maybe more on Saturday. Got most of my Super Bowl food yesterday in a trip to the grocery store. Still need a few more items to complete the smorgasbord! Kicked things off this morning with an update on the Amber Alert in Wisconsin for a missing 16 year-old girl, all of the 67 bodies from last week's plane/helicopter collision in DC have now been recovered, President Trump paused the tariffs on Canada & Mexico, Waffle House is adding an egg surplus charge to all it's locations, and the USPS is temporarily suspending accepting packages from China & Hong Kong. In sports, the Badgers cruised to a win over Indiana last night, and the Bucks look to break a 4-game losing streak tonight in Charlotte. We discussed the who/what/when/where details of this Sunday's Super Bowl, including a very special guest who is expected to attend the game. Elsewhere in the world of sports, Mason Crosby officially announced his retirement yesterday, Alexander Ovechkin got another goal last night to get within 17 of Gretzky's record, and NASCAR implemented an interesting new rule recently. A few feel-good stories this morning including a school's first ever deaf homecoming king, a guy who made a video game for his girlfriend, and a new heart pump designed specifically for children! Today is "National Fart Day", so we talked about some interesting facts about farts! According to a recent survey, Americans say that their "perfect day" would include a 42 minute nap, and over 3 hours of watching TV. So we discussed what our "perfect days" would look like. As the big game gets closer, we've got more info on some of the commercials you can expect to see, and we also took a look at some of the more well-known prop bets you can make. And in today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a drunk guy driving around on just a rim, a #FloridaMan who ran from the cops while wearing a dalmation onesie, a guy who got tased after he bit a police officer outside of a strip club, & a man who lived with his wife's corpse for several days before reporting it to police. Hope everyone made the most of the nice weather yesterday! It's gonna get chilly this week. Speaking of the weather, we started the morning talking about yesterday's prediction by Punxsutawney Phil of six more weeks of winter! We also gave an update on the deadly plane crash in Philly this weekend, a Wisconsin woman who falsely reported her child missing, and a look at people trying to move to Canada. In sports, the Bucks have been struggling as of late, the Badgers got a nice win over Northwestern on Saturday, Alexander Ovechkin scored another goal this weekend to get within 18 of Gretzky's record, and a couple of massive trades happened in the NBA as the deadline looms. Elsewhere in sports, people in Canada are booing during the playing of the United States National Anthem, and three more accusations have been made against Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. We let you know what's on TV tonight and recapped last night's Grammy awards. Also, Brian thought his wife was dead this weekend after going to the Wisconsin Dells to see Pat McCurdy. 2nd Floor Sara stopped by the studio to let us know what's going on in the area this week, and we had a story about a heroic jump-roper who saved a teenager in a frozen pond! Also, check out this young shooting survivor who's trying to spread joy with fart noises. Hell of a kid! As we get closer to the big game on Sunday, we took a look at the costs of some of your Super Bowl party food, and also took a glance at how much money some of the players might make if they win the game. In regards to the food you might be serving up this Sunday…you may want to check the expiration dates on the condiments in your fridge. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a priest in Detroit that allegedly used a girl's hair to floss his teeth, a stripper in #Florida who used a banana to assault a convenience store clerk, a guy who broke into a mall in Atlanta to steal some Cinnabon, and a bear that was hiding out under a guy's house in California to survive the recent wildfires. Ugh. I drank too much yesterday. I gotta stop drinking on weekdays. Needless to say, I'm here…but barely. We started things off this morning with an update on the plane/helicopter collision from the other day, a blood pressure medicine recall, a new specialty license plate in Wisconsin, and the star of "Emilia Perez" issued an apology for some old social media posts. In sports, the Bucks wrap up a 4-game road trip tonight in San Antonio, the Badgers are at Northwestern tomorrow afternoon, there's been some serious allegations made about Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, and Alexander Ovechkin got a little closer to Gretzky's record last night. Elsewhere in sports, Terry Rozier is being investigated for some unusual bets made on his games, and Dana White issued a strong statement about Bryce Mitchell's recent comments on a podcast. Have you heard about the recent "Stick Tok" phenomenon? It's a scene, man. Doc joined us for the first Racing Report of the NASCAR season thanks to County Materials in Holmen, and we let you know what's on TV this weekend, what's going to be in theaters, and told you about some new music releases. Cool story about an Ohio State fan that's celebrating their national championship by handing out some scholarships, and a dog that's been missing for EIGHT YEARS was recently reunited with it's owner. We ran a few clips from our interview with Eva from "Eva Under Fire" this morning! You can check out the entire interview here. Tomorrow is February first, so we took a look ahead at some of the things to look forward to in the upcoming month. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a 94 year-old woman who was caught doing 106mph on an interstate, a #FloridaWoman who got busted for throwing a brick through her ex-husband's window, another woman who is divorcing her husband after she found out that he was hunting for Bigfoot with his ex-girlfriend, and a woman who's facing jail time after bombarding another woman with farting videos. It's finally here! Friday…AND…the Riverfront Revolt at the La Crosse Center! See you there later today for Asking Alexandria, Starset, & Eva Under Fire. On the show this morning, we started things off with the latest on Wednesday's school shooting in Nashville, President Trump's executive order to declassify documents related to the assassinations of JFK & MLK, a recall on a couple of Ford models, the Packer tailgate tour making it's way around the state in April, and a weather reporter who got fired after criticizing Elon Musk's gesture. In sports, the Bucks beat up on the Heat last night, the Badgers play on Sunday, the AFC & NFC Championship games are also on Sunday, and Alexander Ovechkin inched closer to Wayne Gretzky's record again last night. Elsewhere in sports, Novak Djokovic retired after his first set yesterday after an injury, and a Nebraska fan hit a putt that won him a brand new Porsche! We told you what's on TV this weekend and what's in theaters, and we also discussed some unusual facts about the human body. The "blizzard" in the south this week has led to an opportunity to help the homeless community there, and a contractor in North Carolina has been doing a lot of free work to help people there rebuild after the devastation left after Hurricane Helene. Would you try a pizza-flavored cereal? Well, now you can! And in other food-related news, Costco is looking to hire someone to try all of their Super Bowl snacks. ICYMI, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to sell some of the snow from the field at the Linc during their win over the Rams, and yes…it sold out. During today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about an adult diaper "influencer", a former #FloridaCop who shot a man with his own gun, a woman who unplugged her child's monitor in the NICU so she could ask the nurse for a turkey sammich, and a guy shot an Instacart delivery driver. Between college football, NFL Championship weekend and Alexander Ovechkin coming to town, there's a lot to dive into today. Ian has a dysfunctional relationship with college football and he want to know how others feel about the sport right now. He is addicted to a sport that he knows must change. Of all the things that are wrong right now, he can't stop watching. Is there Chiefs fatigue? What do you want to see this championship weekend? Corbin Smith, Locked on Seahawks tells us the latest with the Seahawks' offensive coordinator search and what might be dragging it out a bit. Corbin also details who might be a salary cap casualty for Seattle this year. Chuck Powell is fired up about the Mariners lack of moves and we ride his fury. Can we count the 'moves' they made as moves at all? We still can't believe the Mariners couldn't even get a meeting with Roki Sasaki. The Daily Power Play! Gary Parrish, CBS Sports sets the scene for where college basketball is right now in the world of the NIL. Duke is such an outlier winning with freshman, as everyone else is loading up with paid players. Gary previews the biggest games of the weekend, especially with Auburn taking on Tennessee on Saturday.

In this week's edition of Hockey (and Sports) Talk, the guys continue to be blown away by the exploits of Alexander Ovechkin, who continued to creep closer to Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record. Along the way, the Great 8 made more history with yet another 20-goal season. At 39 years young, Ovechkin is doing things we did not think possible, and the guys contemplate his place as one of the greatest ever in NHL history. Brutally cold temps to start the week, but back towards the 40's by Thursday. We started the morning off with an update on the devastating wildfires in California, news on a planned expansion at the Kalahari resorts in the Dells, and a fire over the weekend in Onalaska. In sports, we recapped this weekend's Wild Card action, talked about the Bucks brutal loss to the Knicks yesterday, the Badgers big win over Minnesota on Friday, and a new head coach announced in New England. Also in sports, Alexander Ovechkin scored another goal over the weekend, and the two Yankees fans that interfered with Mookie Betts during the World Series have now been banned by MLB. Let you know what's on TV tonight and talked about a list of sequels & franchise films that are coming out in 2025. Amidst the horror and loss of the wildfires in LA, there's also some stories of hope and compassion…including a missing dog that got returned to it's owner, and a restaurant that's helping to feed families that have lost their homes in the wildfires. Winter is here in the Midwest and it's important to have an emergency kit in your car in case of emergencies. We took a look at the key items you should have in your kit. 2nd Floor Sarah was out sick today, but we still hooked you up with a couple of things happening in our area this week. You might have seen AJ Brown reading a book on the sidelines of yesterday's Packers/Eagles game…and afterwards, in the locker room, he was asked about it. And during today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who stole some Hot Pockets, a #FloridaWoman who's accused of assaulting her elderly employer after she was denied a bonus, a guy in Tennessee who shot his gun at a family that was sledding, a deputy who crashed his patrol car because he was watching porn on his phone, and a woman who says she had six ribs removed and is going to make them into a crown. One day from the glorious weekend! Definitely ready to spend some time on the couch, watching football. In the news this morning, we had updates on the wildfires raging in California, what's going to be open/closed today in honor of Jimmy Carter's funeral, an update on the suspect in the shooting deaths of three people in New Lisbon, and the Mexican President responding to Trump renaming the Gulf of Mexico. In sports, the Bucks got a big win over the Spurs last night, the Badger men's basketball team looks to stay hot tomorrow night against the Gophers, former WI QB Tyler Van Dyke is headed to SMU, a rundown of the upcoming CFP Bowl Games and this weekend's NFL action…plus, an update on Jordan Love. We let you know what's on TV tonight and we talked to Office Cora about what's happening in the 715 this weekend. According to a scary new report, 41% of employers plan on downsizing by 2030 as more jobs become victims of A.I. On the flipside of that disturbing news, check out this story about a guy who found his birth mother in a bakery that he frequented! There's a college in England that is offering a class on how to make phone calls because of Telophobia. Yeah, it's a thing. Checked in on Alexander Ovechkin's goal total as he chases Wayne Gretzky's record, and the NHL announced it's outdoor games for 2026. Had a new "Karen of the Day" at an airport, and a sports reporter got busted looking at some lingerie while on the job. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a Wisconsin man who was caught masturbating outside of a grocery store, a woman in Cleveland who was killed by her neighbor's pigs, and a racist who got a big-ass shiner after getting punched in the face. We recap the past week on and off the ice in the NHL. In the first period we recap the past 7 days including Alexander Ovechkin continuing his quest to catch Wayne Gretzky. In the second period we give out our midseason awards. I the third period we read your e-mails.

The New Year is in full swing. It's time to get to work as a big 2025 lies ahead for yours truly, delivering what I do best. Serving up unedited, unapologetic and entertaining sports talk as the latest podcast is here. On deck: (6:31) The NFL mercifully ended yesterday as it was a regular season to forget. I'll explain the reasons why in detail on how underwhelming the past 18 weeks have been. I'll recap the lack of drama over the past two days as there weren't any interesting developments or teams that snuck into the playoffs. Now, wild card weekend is forthcoming. I'll share the schedule for the upcoming six games, but will spare the storylines and previews until Thursday's podcast. Tyreek Hill expressed his frustration after not making the playoffs for the first time in his career, mentioning how he's "out" of Miami. Is a move away from South Beach forthcoming? You've already seen a couple of coaches fired (Jarod Mayo in New England, Doug Pederson in Jacksonville.) Are there more to come? What about the state of the Giants? (30:30) Notre Dame flexed their muscles and beat Georgia to punch their ticket to the semifinals in the college football playoffs. I'll have a preview and uncover the storylines of the two games on the next podcast as they'll resume on Thursday night between Notre Dame-Penn State and Friday where Ohio State-Texas will square off. There were a couple of noted injuries that took place, including the Indiana QB Kurtis Roarke, playing the whole year on a torn ACL? And sad news as the father of Georgia coach Kirby Smart, dies from complications of hip surgery after taking a fall on New Year's Eve at the age of 76. (37:49) The Jimmy Butler saga unfurled over the weekend as the disgruntled player gets his wish, wanting to be traded and away from the Miami Heat. A deal will be in the works at some point, but it's not as easy as it seems. Plus, how much does Butler have left? As for on the court, you have a clash of the titans on Wednesday, when the top two teams in each conference will square off in Cleveland as OKC will come to town. Which team do I trust more in the long run? I'll see what else is happening throughout the Association (WAIT! The return of Kawhi Leonard?) in this first week of the new year. (58:36) It's been a quiet week on the ice, but Alexander Ovechkin has been making noise as he scored two goals since we last met. He is now 23 goals away from being the all time goal scoring leader in NHL history. Will he ever slow down? I'll check on what else is going on as there've been a handful of teams that have reached or surpassed the halfway point of the season. (1:02:56) Don't look now, MLB fans. Pitchers and catchers report in six weeks. There's still a couple of name free agents out there (Pete Alonso & Alex Bregman, among others) but there were only minor transactions that took place. Veteran starting pitcher, Charlie Morton signs with the Orioles. INF Cavan Biggio signs a minor league deal with the Royals. That's been the extent of it as of this moment. Also, area Culver's restaurants are doing what they can to help the victims of the shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School. In sports, the Packers lost to the Bears for the first time in forever. The Bucks lost over the weekend, but the Badgers returned from the holiday break with a big win over Iowa. We also took a look at this week's NFL Playoff schedule. Recapped last night's Golden Globes awards and let you know what's on TV tonight. Plus, a great story about a guy who taught his girlfriend how to ice skate so he could propose to her in NYC at Rockefeller Center. 2nd Floor Sarah joined us to talk about what's going on in our area this week, and we discussed the top five diets for 2025. We talked about the remaining College Football Playoffs bowl games and checked in on Alexander Ovechkin's chase of Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record. And ICYMI, the US won it's second straight hockey World Juniors championship over the weekend! What's the proper etiquette if you win big money on a lottery ticket you got as a Christmas gift? Did you see the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader who got beaned by a football on a kickoff yesterday? And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a self-driving car that had a glitch and kept driving in circles, an officer in Zambia who got drunk & released a bunch of prisoners so they could celebrate New Year's Eve, a #FloridaMan who stabbed his sister in the face after an argument about spilled milk, and a guy who was "The DUI" on NYE. Welcome back from the holidays with us as we discuss single season records which branches off into a discussion about Alexander Ovechkin potentially breaking Wayne Gretzky's goal record, LeBron James and Michael Jordan (Of Course), the former young lions that are now the grizzled veterans and more in the first half. In the second half we chose violence and decided to talk about the college football playoff format and if this works or not. Jason who normally will take a controversial stance did not want to touch this topic. All hate mail can be posted in our NASPOD MVP's facebook group. Tune in as we open by discussing Todd McLellan's squads two wins to finish the year, starting with the victory over Alexander Ovechkin's Washington Capitals including goals from Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, and Lucas Raymond (4:25), as well as their New Year's Eve win over sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins, including massive defensive plays from Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson, goals from Kane, Compher, as well as Dylan Larkin and Jonatan Berggren breaking their goal droughts (thanks to Raymond and Tarasenko), Alex Lyon's back to back wins, 1st line Joe Veleno, McLellan's 600th win as head coach, & more (11:15). Next, we discuss whether Hockeytown's hot streak is just a new coach bump or if this is sustainable, and whether Steve Yzerman should have fired Derek Lalonde sooner (18:50) before updates on Detroit's previous free agent ventures in Steven Stamkos & others, as well as Ondrej Becher signing his ELC (27:10). In this week's edition of Hockey Talk, the guys again take a more holistic approach to the discussion as they cover a wide variety of sports topics including the Quarterfinal matchups of the CFP, what Patrick expects from the Illinois v. South Carolina battle in the Citrus Bowl, and why he is less than enthused about the idea of Pete Caroll being the next coach of the Chicago Bears. For once, things are not nearly as dire for Dave's teams and this was hammered home by the return of Alexander Ovechkin to the Washington Capitals' lineup. With Ovi resuming his chase for Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record, the guys discuss how far the Caps might be able to go. We hope you had a solid Christmas and that you got some time off work to chill with your fam and whatnot. The Caps had a decent week going .500 but had to battle 2 back-to-backs this week which was not ideal. They still hold down the second spot in the Metro Division and we also saw the return of the Great 8 himself, Alexander Ovechkin. We'll be talking in-depth about the Capitals week and of course NHL league news. Plus some mentions about World Juniors and NCAA hockey. Let's close out this year in grand style as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck: (6:48) With 2024 winding down, I open with the latest headlines heading into the final week of the NFL season. I'll uncover the Vikings shocking season behind QB Sam Darnold as they're in control of their own destiny for the top seed in the NFC, battling the Lions for supremacy in the conference. Who'll come out with the #7 seed in the AFC between Denver, Miami and Cincinnati? What about the NFC South with Tampa Bay currently ahead of Atlanta, but the Falcons have the tiebreaker if they end up with the same record? Does Saquon Barkley break Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record? What about his former team, the Giants, winning their first home game this year but lose the chance for the #1 pick in next years' draft? The NFL is gloating about having 65 million people watch at least one minute of the two Christmas Day games on Netflix. You know I have to dump cold water on that. I'll also send my condolences to the Gumbel family as Greg passed away on Friday at the age of 78 due to cancer. (33:00) The second round of the college football playoff commences tomorrow night. I'll get into the top storylines of what to expect, from Boise and Arizona State's chances to move on after gaining first round byes. Will Ohio State exact revenge from an early season loss to Oregon? Can Penn State continue their magical run? How about the Fighting vs. Georgia? I'll have every bit of what the quarterfinals will look like and play out over the next couple of days. (50:03) Is the NBA becoming the WWE? There were a couple of brawls over the weekend with suspension handed down, which begs the question, is physical play in the Association a necessity? A trade was made between the Lakers and Nets as D'Angelo Russell heads back to Brooklyn where Dorian Finney-Smith moves west. The Sacramento Kings canned coach Mike Brown. Was it warranted? Jimmy Butler will stay put in Miami as per president Pat Riley, but what's with this competitive reconditioning phrase because of Butler's absence from the lineup. Is this the new load management? I'll check around the league for the latest as both OKC and Cleveland continue their torrid streaks in the West & East. (1:07:26) Anyone psyched for the NHL Winter Classic? It's on January 1st, correct? It is not and who is playing in the game? The league has dropped the puck on not truly showcasing its signature game as it'll be played on New Year's Eve in Chicago (Wrigley Field) where the Blackhawks will play against the Blues. How about Alexander Ovechkin? He returns from a fractured leg where he scores two goals in two games, is 25 goals away from Wayne Gretzky's all time scoring record. Is this man bionic at the age of 39? I'll see what else is happening around the ice as the New Year is on the horizon. (1:17:38) Another big MLB free agent is off the books as pitcher Corbin Burnes signs with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Did his former team, the Orioles, put up an offer? Actually what is going on in Baltimore as they haven't added anyone of note this offseason to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox in their division. Also, what's the latest with Pete Alonso? Is that Met offer of 3 years for $90 million legit? Gleyber Torres signs with the Tigers for one year. And Teoscar Hernandez re-ups with the Dodgers on a three year deal. (1:25:28) I want to shout out YOU, the followers, subscribers and fans of the podcast. Thank YOU for all of your support. Thank you of banging with me for another year, even if it's your first time, keep coming back as I have LOTS on the board for 2025 that I can't wait to share. “Hardly Best On Best” 12/16/24On the way to stealing a point from their loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins lost Marcus Pettersson to what has proven to be a week-to-week lower body injury. That's not good, especially for a team who've just recently begun banking points en route to a possible wildcard berth.Jeff's gears have been ground. The culprit? The NHL's decision not to include Russian players in a so-called ‘best-on-best' tournament. Promoting an event as featuring the world's most elite talent is far from genuine, when the odds-on favorite for Hart Trophy winner, Kirill Kaprizov is at home or on vacation. Alexander Ovechkin. Artemi Panarin. Igor Shesterkin. The list goes on, and none of them will be participating in what could otherwise have been a truly killer shindig.Subscribe to Jeff's new Penguins-related Substack feed:https://substack.com/@penspodThank you for listening!! On deck: (6:38) December has arrived. Which means we're getting close to the homestretch of the NFL regular season. The NFC has become a barnburner due to the developments of yesterday. Not just at the top of the conference as the Lions, Eagles and Vikings are fighting for a #1 seed (who comes out on top?), but the Buccaneers have drawn even with the Falcons for first place in the South. What about the Seahawks? They currently own sole possession of first place in the West as they've put themselves in good position to win the division. How will this all play out? I can't forget the AFC as the Chiefs continue to squeak by winning these games like a Houdini act. Is this sustainable? The Bills aren't letting up anytime soon. Even the Steelers keep pace with a huge win in Cincinnati. I'll get into Matt Eberflus being shown the door in Chicago, as well as, all that's transpired throughout the Thanksgiving weekend in the league. (36:12) Just when you thought college football couldn't get more interesting, you had two major upsets and a comeback for the ages by Georgia to save themselves from postseason extinction. Ohio State loses an opportunity to play in the Big 10 Championship game after Michigan beats them for a fourth straight year. Then the Miami Hurricanes inexplicably blow a 21-0 lead at Syracuse to find themselves on the losing end, and in all likelihood, will be out of the college football playoff altogether. To top it off, Georgia was down 17-0 at the half and 14 points halfway through the fourth quarter before coming from behind and winning in eight overtimes vs. Georgia Tech. Is this the win that could propel them to a deep playoff run? (50:06) The Association had a couple of key players come back from injury. Mavericks Luka Doncic doesn't skip a beat with a 36 point/13 assist performance from a wrist injury. While Celtics Kristaps Porzingis makes a triumphant return last week against the Clippers. You've also had two situations regarding players calling out their teammates with pathetic efforts in recent games, such as Anthony Edwards and Dejounte Murray which I have to expound on. I'll look at the teams that have made some hay (ex. Rockets, Bucks) as of late and anything else that's going on in the NBA. I'll add on some college basketball as the two time champion UConn Huskies come off of losing three straight early this season. On a sad note, I'll discuss the passing of former legendary St. John's coach, Lou Carnesecca who died at the age of 99 on Saturday. (1:04:03) What has gotten into the Washington Capitals? They're missing their franchise player (Alexander Ovechkin) who's out for at least three weeks with a fractured leg, have risen to the top of the Eastern Conference (despite an embarrassing moment by their goalie last week). I'll take a look at what else is happening in the NHL, including the Winnipeg Jets who have cooled off considerably after a record breaking start to the season. (1:11:27) MLB's hot stove will heat up this coming Sunday as the Winter Meetings will begin. Some activity has taken place as the Dodgers have signed pitcher Blake Snell and re-signed Tommy Edman. Is Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki not too far behind? Is this good for baseball as the rich get richer? The Mets try to get into the action by signing Frankie Montas to a two year deal in their own right. Am I a fan of this deal? Plus, the Rays will play a ton of their home games (47 of them) during the first part of the year and have 69 of final 103 on the road. Why is this the case? And a farewell to former Giants SS Brandon Crawford who retires after 14 years in the big leagues. Thanks for tuning in Washington Capitals fans! The Official Caps Chirp Podcast on The Hockey Podcast Network is back with another incredible Monday Episode. We're breaking down NHL news last week and of course your very own Washington Capitals. Last week was a rough one. Alexander Ovechkin got injured and the Caps lost more than they won. On deck: (6:30) There's no secret as college football has had a tremendous season to date, therefore needing to apologize for my prediction set a month ago. You had FIVE teams in the top 16 lose which turned the landscape of the playoff upside down. Some of the big themes that I'll unpack. Indiana wasn't ready to swim in the deep end of the pool as they lost to Ohio State. Do they have what it takes to qualify or make some noise in the playoff? The SEC was a huge part of how topsy turvy Saturday was. Alabama gets whacked at Oklahoma. Are they done? Texas A&M is defeated in four OT's vs. Auburn. Do they still have a shot to get in the tournament? Ole Miss suffers a crushing loss with two late interceptions at Florida which jeopardizes their chances of a playoff. Also, BYU & Colorado lost tough games on the road where they may not make the top 12 when it's all said and done. I'll even preview the schedule over the holiday weekend and tell you which teams are in and out at the moment. (28:34) NFL Week 12 had its moments, but overall wasn't a great Sunday. Kansas City had to sweat out a win in regulation vs. the lowly Carolina Panthers on the road. Is there cause for concern regarding the two time defending champs? The Eagles are in flight behind the heroics of Saquon Barkley and his 300 yard plus performance from scrimmage. Has Barkley thrusted himself to the top of the MVP mix? Are the Washington Commanders starting to fade in the NFC East? They lost a brutal game to Dallas after a miraculous TD with seconds to go was spoiled by a missed extra point that would've tied the game. And what about the NFC West? Seattle is now tied with the Arizona Cardinals, but have the head to head advantage to control their own destiny at the moment. I'll review all that's taken place (including a not so shocking letdown in Cleveland by the Steelers) and peek at the Week 13 schedule to set you up for Thanksgiving through Monday night. (57:38) The NBA is off in the clouds just a month into their season. I have a thought on how the Spurs have played recently and how important will it be for them to clinch a playoff spot down the road. I'll recap who's done well and who's been scuffling and the upcoming schedule over the next seven days. (1:03:16) Alexander Ovechkin will be out of the lineup for 4-6 weeks with a fractured fibula that he sustained vs. Utah last week. How does this hamper him in his quest to top Wayne Gretzky for the all time goal scoring lead in NHL history? Sidney Crosby achieves another milestone by becoming the 21st player in history with 600 goals. And there's a new coach in St. Louis. To a sports fans surprise, the replacement is one who was just released from his position last week, in a one Jim Montgomery of the Boston Bruins. The forthcoming week has a lot of great matchups that I'll uncover for your edification. (1:12:07) MLB's hot stove has been rather chilly. There were a couple of transactions that hasn't moved the needle (Reds-Royals trade and Yusei Kikuchi signs with LAA) as the Winter Meetings are two weeks away. Thanks for tuning in Washington Capitals fans. The Official Caps Chirp Podcast on The Hockey Podcast Network is back with another incredible Thursday episode! Unfortunately, things are not great in DC. The Washington Capitals have been steamrolling the competition and battling it out for control of the Metropolitan Division but in the last game against Utah, Ovechkin sustained a lower body injury that has him on IR and on a week-to-week status. This is obviously terrible news as the Caps are cooking and Ovi looked poised to break the Gretzky goal record this year. The answer to that is yes, precisely a week away from Thanksgiving, but it's never too early to carve up and share what sports entrees I've got prepped and ready to go as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck: (6:43) It's been a wild week on the New York football scene as there was a GM fired by the Jets and a surprise pick at QB by the Giants. I'll dissect both scenarios as Joe Douglas was let go by Gang Green. Where do they stand now and moving forward? While Tommy DeVito has been thrusted the starter over QB2 Drew Lock, meaning the end of the Daniel Jones era for the G-Men. What does this mean for an organization that's hit on hard times since winning a Super Bowl 13 years ago. I'll peek at the Week 12 schedule which is underwhelming, to say the least. Will the Pittsburgh Steelers follow up their huge win over Baltimore with a stinker in Cleveland? The first time nominees for the Hall of Fame were announced as Eli Manning is the headliner. Is he a first ballot HOF'er? (32:25) The latest college football playoff selections were released on Tuesday night. This week I have a different observation. Will the committee revamp the playoff system by not awarding the conference champions a bye and go back to not just seedings, but strength of schedule, conference, etc.? (41:33) The last undefeated team in the NBA finally suffered a loss as the Cleveland Cavaliers were defeated in Boston by the defending champions two nights ago. The big story of the past few days is Sixers center Joel Embiid was called out by his All-Star teammate, Tyrese Maxey, for all intents and purposes, not being the leader as the face of the franchise. Is he right? Was he wrong to say that? Can Embiid be the leader that the Sixers need? I'll unpack that and everything else that's going on in the Association. (53:37) On the ice, Alexander Ovechkin continues his assault on the all time goal scoring record held by Wayne Gretzky, netting two goals in Utah. Now it has to be put on pause when he sustained a leg injury after colliding with a Utah player. How long will he be out of the lineup? The Boston Bruins fired their coach Jim Montgomery after a quarter of a season played. Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews has been out since Nov. 3 with an upper body injury.
