The first major battle of the island hopping campaign began in the Solomon Islands on August 7, 1942. In this Debrief, Colby and Brett have a conversation with USMC infantry officer Albert Varela about his first combat deployment; where as a platoon commander he had to face the extremes of battle and lead his Marines through intense combat in Marjah, Afghanistan (Helmand Province).
