This week Brian and Harrison kick things off with some of the usual chit-chat, they discuss; 'Chocco' (survey comp. winner) coming to pick up sticks in Lorne, the AFLs sale of Waverley Park, AFL State of Origin (again), the NBA Finals, Tour de France predictions, 'CHAT-BT' and plenty more. Joining them on the mic this week is Australia's greatest and most decorated cyclist of all-time, Cadel Evans. Simply put, Cadel epitomises the unrelenting Aussie grit and grind character that so many world class Australian athletes are known for. His path to success was met with countless obstacles and setbacks, but through extreme determination, attention to the details and immense self-belief, he 'climbed the mountain', so to speak on countless occasions. His 20 year career on the bike (both Mountain and Road) is something to behold, from the youngest winner of a MTB World Cup race to the oldest post-war winner of the Tour de France (1 of 3 non-Europeans), he's filled his trophy cabinet: UCI World Race Champion, 4x Olympian, 2x World MTB Champ., 2x Tour de France Runner-Up and I can go on, but above all else, Cadel has an immense level of respect and admiration from his peers and is a true Australian treasure. He was counted out and overlooked on numerous occasions and competed in one of cycling's darkest periods, but he always stayed his course and remained a man of extreme integrity and commendable willpower. We loved this chat with Cadel and we hope you do as well! Populism has taken the reins of the Republican Party and that is a good thing. Decorated military veteran and content machine, Troy Carico, joins the podcast this week to discuss the forthcoming Pax Americana under Emperor Donald John Trump. Drawing from his 22 years of military service and intelligence expertise, Carico champions Trump's unapologetic embrace of realpolitik—a pragmatic, power-driven approach to international relations rooted in the strategies of Machiavelli, Bismarck, and Kissinger. He argues that Trump's America-first bravado has reshaped the global stage, prioritizing national interests through bold diplomacy and military might, rejecting globalist ideals, and emphasizing strength over appeasement in a world of competing powers. While acknowledging criticisms of Trump's approach as isolationist, Carico defends it as a necessary retrenchment, leveraging America's economic and military dominance to secure prosperity and cultural ascendancy. He envisions a “nouveau Pax Americana,” where the U.S. stands as a fearless colossus, balancing fear and respect as Machiavelli advised. Carico's fervent call to action urges patriots to embrace this era of American supremacy, celebrating a leader who wields realpolitik with conviction. His insights offer a provocative perspective on Trump's legacy and America's role in a turbulent world, making this episode a must-listen for those intrigued by geopolitics and national pride.

Kyle recounts the fateful morning of the 2015 Radisson Blu hotel siege in Bamako, Mali, explaining how an impromptu team cleared seven floors under sustained fire to free hostages and prevent further bloodshed. "I'd hate to take a bite of you... you're a cookie full of arsenic."Alexander McKendrick's compelling noir is full of lines like this, courtesy of screenwriter Clifford Odets - quite fitting for intrigue set in the back-stabby world of showbiz journalism. Burt Lancaster may appear more dinky here than normal but don't be fooled by his glasses: JJ Hunsecker is a powerful and fiendish columnist who employs an ambitious press agent, Sidney Faclo, played by Tony Curtis to break up his sister's romance. Conflict and betrayals emerge from the darkness here, masterfully rendered through sharp angles and lighting contrasts by Oscar-winning DP, James Wong Howe. Decorated with subtle touches and engaging performances, "Sweet Smell of Success" was a critic's favourite when released in 1957 and Josh lays the whole story out in this episode of LTP Noir.Pre-Production @ 01:55; Summary @ 23:00; Production @36:00; Review @47:00 Get your Magic Mind here!

Our guest is John Foreman, naval officer and former UK Defence Attaché in Moscow and Kyiv. He provides amazing insights into what it was like dealing with the regime of Vladimir Putin as Russia invaded Ukraine and reflects on other dealings with the Russians, at sea and ashore. Topics discussed include the halcyon days of the old Cold War ending at sea between the Royal Navy and Russian Navy - amid a fair bit of amity - when the anti-submarine and intelligence-gathering frigate HMS London sailed to Murmansk and Archangel on a defence diplomacy mission. John shares his memories of that summer 1991 voyage, in the wake of the farcical ‘hardliners coup' in Moscow, with several memorable aspects discussed. Podcast host Iain Ballantyne asks John to outline his subsequent exploits as Defence Attaché in Kyiv (2008-2011) and in Moscow (2019-2022). In addition to explaining how he came to be honoured by Ukraine and banned by Russia, John relates what it was like as the relations between the UK and Vladimir Putin's gangster state with nukes deteriorated. Events for which John provides a Moscow embassy insider's perspective include: the HMS Defender ‘Black Sea incident' of 2021; the run in to Russia launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine; what it was like to under constant surveillance - including harassment - from Russia's security services as Putin's military tried to conquer Ukraine. In looking at relations between the UK and Russia as the new period of confrontation beds in, John suggests that - despite the hostility - efforts must be made to stay engaged diplomatically. He also explains how the Royal Navy is a key tool in keeping pressure on Russia, by refusing to cede ownership of international waters and deterring it from further aggression. The Greek talks baseball, war, and friendships
SHOW NOTES: On this show… we are going beyond comfort as we step outside of our comfort zones and embrace growth. We've all been there—nestled comfortably in our routines, sipping the same coffee, walking the same paths, and binge-watching that favorite series for the umpteenth time. It's cozy, predictable, and safe. But have you ever wondered what lies beyond that snug bubble? What adventures, opportunities, and personal growth await when you dare to venture into the unknown? Stepping outside your comfort zone isn't just a catchy phrase; it's a transformative journey that challenges your fears, bolsters your confidence, and shatters those pesky limiting beliefs. In this episode, we'll explore the exhilarating (and sometimes nerve-wracking) world beyond our comfort zones. From understanding the psychology behind our fears to uncovering the hidden costs of staying stagnant, we'll navigate this path together to discover how embracing discomfort can lead to unparalleled personal growth. Let's start at the beginning—what exactly is a “comfort zone”? Sounds cozy, right? Like fuzzy socks, predictable routines, and your favorite Netflix binge. But in psychological terms, your comfort zone is more than just what feels familiar. It's a behavioral space where your activities and decisions fit a routine and pattern that minimizes stress and risk. Inside it, you're cruising—things feel manageable, safe, and under control. But spoiler alert: not much growth happens there. Now, stepping outside of that bubble? That's where things get interesting. Psychologists have mapped this out into zones: beyond the comfort zone lies the learning zone, where you face new challenges, gain skills, and build resilience. Keep going and you'll hit the growth zone—this is where purpose, confidence, and real transformation happen. It's the place where you say yes to the things that scare you a little but excite you a lot. The catch? It's also where the uncertainty lives. The fear. The doubt. That tiny inner voice that says, “Yeah but… what if I fail?” And hey, that voice has a point—there is risk involved. But there's also risk in staying stuck. The longer we stay in our bubble, the more we reinforce limiting beliefs—like “I'm not good at that,” or “That's just not who I am.” These beliefs become like padded walls, keeping us “safe,” but also keeping us small. And here's the wild part: you might not even realize you're stuck. You might just feel low-grade frustration, boredom, or restlessness—like something's missing but you can't quite name it. That's often your potential, knocking on the door, wondering when you're going to invite it in. Is It Time to Leave Your Comfort Zone? How Leaving Can Spark Positive Change Michael Hyatt asks and answers; Are Your Beliefs Keeping You Stuck? Found on Full Focus Joey Schweitzer on How the comfort zone is ruining your life Here are five powerful ways to challenge limiting beliefs Talk Back to the Voice in Your Head You know the one. That inner critic that says, “You're not good at this,” or “Who do you think you are?” Call it out! Literally question it like a nosy neighbor: Says who?” “Is that actually true or just something I picked up along the way?” When you start treating those beliefs like suggestions instead of facts, you regain control of the narrative. Look for the Evidence (and the Holes) Take your limiting belief and pretend you're a lawyer trying to prove or disprove it. Belief: “I'm not creative.” Evidence: Have you ever solved a problem in a new way? Cooked without a recipe? Decorated a space? Boom—creative. Most limiting beliefs fall apart under even the gentlest cross-examination. Reframe the Story Instead of saying “I always mess this up,” try “I'm still learning, and each attempt gets me closer.” Reframing isn't lying to yourself—it's choosing a perspective that empowers instead of paralyzes you. Think of it like adjusting the lens on your camera: same scene, better focus. Take Micro-Actions That Prove It Wrong One of the fastest ways to challenge a belief is to act in spite of it. If you believe, “I'm not confident speaking up,” try asking a question in a meeting. Tiny actions stack up. And each time you do the thing you thought you couldn't, that belief loses its power. Borrow Someone Else's Belief When your self-belief is shaky, lean on someone who sees you clearly. A coach, friend, mentor—someone who's rooting for you. Ask, “What do you see in me that I'm missing?” Sometimes we need to borrow confidence until we build our own. CHALLENGE: Identify one area in your life where fear or complacency has kept you confined. Take a deliberate step this week to push beyond that boundary, no matter how small, and embrace the growth that awaits on the other side. Remember, life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I Know YOU Can Do It!

Audie Leon Murphy (20 June 1925 – 28 May 1971)[1] was an American soldier, actor, and songwriter. He was widely celebrated as the most decorated American combat soldier of World War II,[4] and has been described as the most highly decorated enlisted soldier in U.S. history.[5][6] He received every military combat award for valor available from the United States Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. Murphy received the Medal of Honor for valor that he demonstrated at age 19 for single-handedly holding off a company of German soldiers for an hour at the Colmar Pocket in France in January 1945, before leading a successful counterattack while wounded.
You might think all this talk of the United States taking over Canada is unique to the era of Trump. However, the fact is, someone wrote about this very scenario more than half a century ago in two bestselling books. The first was called Ultimatum and the second Exxoneration, and they told the story of a voracious America trying to take over resource-rich Canada. The author followed that up with a third installment in the series in 2007 and he is with us tonight. He is Richard Rohmer, World War II veteran, Canada's most decorated soldier, and author of more than 30 books.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It was 1956. Jim was eight years old. Elvis Presley had recently been featured on Ed Sullivan's and Steve Allen's television shows. The impression cast was indelible. An unrelenting campaign against his parents finally resulted in a Christmas present. A rough but playable ¾ size guitar. Decorated with a picture of Roy Rogers atop trigger. Jim remembers playing Red River Valley, She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain. They were in the book that came with the guitar, not exactly the rock and roll he envisioned, but it was his start.
