SHOW NOTES: On this show… we are going beyond comfort as we step outside of our comfort zones and embrace growth. We've all been there—nestled comfortably in our routines, sipping the same coffee, walking the same paths, and binge-watching that favorite series for the umpteenth time. It's cozy, predictable, and safe. But have you ever wondered what lies beyond that snug bubble? What adventures, opportunities, and personal growth await when you dare to venture into the unknown? Stepping outside your comfort zone isn't just a catchy phrase; it's a transformative journey that challenges your fears, bolsters your confidence, and shatters those pesky limiting beliefs. In this episode, we'll explore the exhilarating (and sometimes nerve-wracking) world beyond our comfort zones. From understanding the psychology behind our fears to uncovering the hidden costs of staying stagnant, we'll navigate this path together to discover how embracing discomfort can lead to unparalleled personal growth. Let's start at the beginning—what exactly is a “comfort zone”? Sounds cozy, right? Like fuzzy socks, predictable routines, and your favorite Netflix binge. But in psychological terms, your comfort zone is more than just what feels familiar. It's a behavioral space where your activities and decisions fit a routine and pattern that minimizes stress and risk. Inside it, you're cruising—things feel manageable, safe, and under control. But spoiler alert: not much growth happens there. Now, stepping outside of that bubble? That's where things get interesting. Psychologists have mapped this out into zones: beyond the comfort zone lies the learning zone, where you face new challenges, gain skills, and build resilience. Keep going and you'll hit the growth zone—this is where purpose, confidence, and real transformation happen. It's the place where you say yes to the things that scare you a little but excite you a lot. The catch? It's also where the uncertainty lives. The fear. The doubt. That tiny inner voice that says, “Yeah but… what if I fail?” And hey, that voice has a point—there is risk involved. But there's also risk in staying stuck. The longer we stay in our bubble, the more we reinforce limiting beliefs—like “I'm not good at that,” or “That's just not who I am.” These beliefs become like padded walls, keeping us “safe,” but also keeping us small. And here's the wild part: you might not even realize you're stuck. You might just feel low-grade frustration, boredom, or restlessness—like something's missing but you can't quite name it. That's often your potential, knocking on the door, wondering when you're going to invite it in. Is It Time to Leave Your Comfort Zone? How Leaving Can Spark Positive Change Michael Hyatt asks and answers; Are Your Beliefs Keeping You Stuck? Found on Full Focus Joey Schweitzer on How the comfort zone is ruining your life Here are five powerful ways to challenge limiting beliefs Talk Back to the Voice in Your Head You know the one. That inner critic that says, “You're not good at this,” or “Who do you think you are?” Call it out! Literally question it like a nosy neighbor: Says who?” “Is that actually true or just something I picked up along the way?” When you start treating those beliefs like suggestions instead of facts, you regain control of the narrative. Look for the Evidence (and the Holes) Take your limiting belief and pretend you're a lawyer trying to prove or disprove it. Belief: “I'm not creative.” Evidence: Have you ever solved a problem in a new way? Cooked without a recipe? Decorated a space? Boom—creative. Most limiting beliefs fall apart under even the gentlest cross-examination. Reframe the Story Instead of saying “I always mess this up,” try “I'm still learning, and each attempt gets me closer.” Reframing isn't lying to yourself—it's choosing a perspective that empowers instead of paralyzes you. Think of it like adjusting the lens on your camera: same scene, better focus. Take Micro-Actions That Prove It Wrong One of the fastest ways to challenge a belief is to act in spite of it. If you believe, “I'm not confident speaking up,” try asking a question in a meeting. Tiny actions stack up. And each time you do the thing you thought you couldn't, that belief loses its power. Borrow Someone Else's Belief When your self-belief is shaky, lean on someone who sees you clearly. A coach, friend, mentor—someone who's rooting for you. Ask, “What do you see in me that I'm missing?” Sometimes we need to borrow confidence until we build our own. CHALLENGE: Identify one area in your life where fear or complacency has kept you confined. Take a deliberate step this week to push beyond that boundary, no matter how small, and embrace the growth that awaits on the other side. Remember, life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I Know YOU Can Do It!

Audie Leon Murphy (20 June 1925 – 28 May 1971)[1] was an American soldier, actor, and songwriter. He was widely celebrated as the most decorated American combat soldier of World War II,[4] and has been described as the most highly decorated enlisted soldier in U.S. history.[5][6] He received every military combat award for valor available from the United States Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. Murphy received the Medal of Honor for valor that he demonstrated at age 19 for single-handedly holding off a company of German soldiers for an hour at the Colmar Pocket in France in January 1945, before leading a successful counterattack while wounded.
You might think all this talk of the United States taking over Canada is unique to the era of Trump. However, the fact is, someone wrote about this very scenario more than half a century ago in two bestselling books. The first was called Ultimatum and the second Exxoneration, and they told the story of a voracious America trying to take over resource-rich Canada. The author followed that up with a third installment in the series in 2007 and he is with us tonight. He is Richard Rohmer, World War II veteran, Canada's most decorated soldier, and author of more than 30 books.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It was 1956. Jim was eight years old. Elvis Presley had recently been featured on Ed Sullivan's and Steve Allen's television shows. The impression cast was indelible. An unrelenting campaign against his parents finally resulted in a Christmas present. A rough but playable ¾ size guitar. Decorated with a picture of Roy Rogers atop trigger. Jim remembers playing Red River Valley, She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain. They were in the book that came with the guitar, not exactly the rock and roll he envisioned, but it was his start. Today, 2025, 69 years later Jim has created an elaborate music career, which has been his sole income for his professional life. Exodus 28: The Priestly Garments Exodus 28 details God's instructions to Moses for the making of the priestly garments. These garments were designed for Aaron and his sons, who were chosen to serve as priests in the tabernacle. The chapter underscores the sacred role of the priesthood and emphasizes the importance of holiness, beauty, and divine order in worship. Below is a breakdown of the chapter: 1. Appointment of Aaron and His Sons (Verses 1-5) God commands Moses to consecrate Aaron and his sons (Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar) as priests to serve Him. Skilled craftsmen, filled with wisdom and understanding, are to make sacred garments for them. These garments were meant to: •Set the priests apart for their holy duties. •Reflect the glory and beauty of God. The materials used included gold, blue, purple, scarlet yarns, and fine linen, signifying wealth, royalty, and purity. 2. The Ephod (Verses 6-14) The ephod, a ceremonial vest, was one of the key garments: •Made of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet yarns and fine twisted linen. •Designed with two shoulder pieces to fasten it. •Two onyx stones engraved with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were placed on the shoulders as a memorial before the Lord. •Gold chains attached the ephod to other parts of the attire. The ephod symbolized the priest carrying the tribes of Israel before God. 3. The Breastpiece of Judgment (Verses 15-30) The breastpiece, worn over the ephod, served a dual purpose of beauty and function: •Crafted with the same materials as the ephod. •A square pouch containing twelve stones arranged in four rows, each engraved with the name of one of the tribes of Israel. •Attached to the ephod with gold rings and blue cords. The breastpiece also housed the Urim and Thummim, tools used for divine guidance in judgment. 4. The Robe of the Ephod (Verses 31-35) The robe was made entirely of blue fabric: •Decorated with pomegranates made of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, alternating with gold bells along the hem. •The bells were meant to sound as the priest entered and exited the Holy Place, ensuring his life was preserved in God's presence. 5. The Turban and Gold Plate (Verses 36-39) The priest's turban included a gold plate inscribed with “Holy to the Lord.” •Fastened with a blue cord to the turban. •Served as a reminder of the holiness required in approaching God. 6. The Tunics, Sashes, and Underwear (Verses 40-43) •Tunics and sashes were made for Aaron's sons, signifying their priestly role. •Linen undergarments were provided for modesty, preventing sin in the holy place. •These garments were to be worn perpetually whenever the priests served, under penalty of death for disobedience. Themes and Significance 1.Holiness and Set-Apartness: The priestly garments emphasized the holiness of God and the need for those serving Him to reflect that holiness. 2.Representation of the People: The names of the twelve tribes on the ephod and breastpiece illustrated the priest's role as a mediator, carrying the people before God. 3.Divine Order and Beauty: Every detail in the garments reflected God's perfection and the importance of worship being done according to His design. 4.Christ as the Ultimate High Priest: These garments point forward to Jesus Christ, our ultimate High Priest, who perfectly mediates between God and humanity (Hebrews 4:14-16). Exodus 28 teaches us the importance of reverence, preparation, and order in worship, emphasizing God's desire for His people to approach Him in purity and humility.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.

(26:26) • [During air refueling] You're doing 110-120mph over the water. (27:00) • I've done air refueling as low as 100' off the coast of Iraq. (27:08) • I get a missile fired at me so now I drop down between buildings. I'm down on the rooftops and you know what's in front of me? Kites. Hundreds and hundreds of kites. (34:10) • The older [Chinook helicopter] Delta models just had handheld maps. (43:34) • [During Operation Red Wings] I sat down with the A10's and the AC130's with my map and the imagery and said “I need you to either suppress or creative a diversion that's so big no one could help but look. (50:15) • Crew Chiefs sometimes see things that aren't there (and I hate to say it that way) but sometimes they'll see lights of a car and think they're seeing signal light signals. (53:28) • Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. (55:00) • My youngest son was a Night Stalker Flight Engineer, and my oldest son is a Navy F18 wizzo (back seater) He's a Goose. (58:05) • I did 17 years with the Night Stalkers, plus about 10 years of deployment. (59:03) • Every aircraft munition has a probable kill ratio. A surface to air missile has a “PK” of 75%, meaning that if they fired at you, you have a 75% chance of killing you. The ground has a 100% PK. (64:23) • I've got about 3,500, maybe 4,000 hours of night vision time, which is a lot. (67:51) • Anaconda was a conventional operation, such as Red Wings. There's no soft component to it. (68:57) • We had 4 or 5 people on the aircraft tail, and we are diving at about 150, [one of our men that fell out but is tethered] while they're shooting at us and his toes are tickling the trees. The crew chief is returning fire with an M60 machine gun. He looks over and pulls our guy up, and I learned we had lost Neil [another guy] and decided we've gotta go back. So I turned inbound and climbed back up and the controls stopped moving. Imagine you pulled the keys out of your car. That's what it's like with no hydraulics. So I'm like “Guys… we're done,” as in “We're going to die.” (79:03) • In the spirit of never quit, there's a saying: ”Never quit flying the aircraft.” (83:22) • Everything I do in life, I associate with movies I've seen.
