Disney, Trivia Contests, Escape Rooms, Stephen Sondheim, Crosswords, and Puzzles Eagerly awaiting the next season of Reality Escape Pod? Great news! Season 11 is just around the corner. While you wait, enjoy a special compilation from Season 10. Our editor Steve Ewing, has chosen a memorable clip from every episode. It's the ideal way for new listeners to get acquainted with the podcast, and the perfect trip down memory lane for our devoted fans. This season featured a variety of talented creators, escape room owners, designers, game makers, and even a live audio escape room that first debuted at RECON Remote in 2025. One of our dream guests launched the season: Puzzlemaster Will Shortz. This episode was filled with fascinating stories about his time working at Games Magazine and his early years editing the puzzle section for the New York Times. Other veteran creatives this season included Jim “The Oz” Olivia, who helps run the World's Largest Trivia Contest, and Doris Hardoon whose years as an Imagineer at Disney yielded many insights for us into what it took to create “the happiest place on earth” at EPCOT and later at Shanghai Disney Resort. We uncovered the parlor game and puzzle obsessions of Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim with author Barry Joseph, who has published an in-depth look at a little-examined facet of Sondheim's genius. Adam Bellow detailed the process of developing escape room-inspired educational kits for classrooms all over the world through the work of his company, Breakout EDU. Of course, we had many standout escape room owners share their trials, tribulations, and moments of triumph. Will & Kim Rutherford, owners of Escape Artist Greenville, Stephen & Stevie Kristof of 60 to Escape in the Chicago area, and Jonathan Driscoll & Sacha St. Dennis of Escaparium in Montreal, where RECON will be held in August of 2026. Zach Sherwin will be at RECON Montreal, running his hilarious act The Crossword Show. He joined David & Peih-Gee to chat about its development, and what it's like to be a comedy rap star on YouTube! And we caught up with Rita Orlov & Lauren Bello of PostCurious to learn about their latest collaboration in the world of boxed puzzle games. As always, we featured a couple episodes that were pure fun. Yannick Trapman-O'Brien & Lyra Levin played Mark Larson's audio escape room: BLOT. On our Holiday Special, REA team members Theresa Piazza and Andrew Reynolds tested their mettle against Peih-Gee's Playhouse word puzzles. Finally, we received the yearly industry report from RoomEscapeArtist.com Editor-In-Chief Lisa Spira. She walked us through her data analysis concerning escape rooms in 2025, including trends in booking times, revenue, and the growth of challenge arcades.

Jerry and the Sasquatch Recon crew return as Jerry shares how a childhood viewing of The Legend of Boggy Creek and a 1977 book fair purchase sparked his fascination with Bigfoot—an interest that intensified after moving near the South Mountains, where he began finding tree breaks pointing toward water. By 2015 he was hearing wood knocks and eerie vocalizations, and in 2017 he and his wife watched a large figure glide effortlessly through a cornfield beside their home.A 2019 sighting by family members near his pasture led to escalating activity around his property, including moved objects, opened feed barrels, dragged water containers, and late-night pounding on the house. After appearing in a 2021 Fox documentary, others began sharing their encounters, inspiring him to interview dozens of witnesses and launch a show focused on credible reports. He recounts chilling experiences while tending animals—piercing whistles, bassy vocal blasts, and two overwhelming howls that stirred deep fear and inspired his poem “The Haunted.” Rock-throwing incidents, damaged property, and reports of severely injured or killed animals in the region reinforce his belief that something powerful is operating in the area.Research into a late-1970s wave of sightings, along with local lore and unusual tracks, leaves him open to multiple phenomena, including the possibility of “dog men.”He discusses regional names like “Knobby,” “boogers,” and “wampus,” seasonal movement patterns along Wards Creek, and the way his animals react to disturbances. The episode closes with what he considers his strongest evidence: video footage of an exceptionally tall white or gray figure standing in a neighboring pasture, appearing taller than nearby six-and-a-half-foot fence posts.Sasquatch Recon YouTube ChannelWatch My Bigfoot Life on Amazon Prime Video Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

This week on the podcast, Chris and Jamal talk about the current state of Wayfarer, including eMiLy still being down, the lack of updates around the Ambassador program, and growing frustration with Recon especially among the “I want to do both” crowd who feel stuck waiting for meaningful changes. They also dive into a great community discussion around trail markers, breaking down what actually makes them eligible. The key takeaway: it's not the marker itself it's the trail. Chris and Jamal explain how to position trail markers as anchors for a larger point of interest, and why details like trail names, locations, and official maps can make or break your nomination. Finally, with bad weather keeping everyone inside, they share productive ways to stay engaged with Wayfarer reviewing nominations, exploring the new Wayfarer map, digging into forum discussions, and revisiting past rejections for better resubmissions. The Joint Readiness Training Center is pleased to present the one-hundredth-and-thirty-third episode to air on ‘The Crucible - The JRTC Experience.' Hosted by MAJ Marc Howle, the Brigade Senior Engineer / Protection Observer-Coach-Trainer, and MAJ Michael Stewart, BDE S-3 Operations OCT, from Brigade Command & Control (BDE HQ) on behalf of the Commander of Ops Group (COG). Today's guests are subject matter experts from the Brigade Command & Control task force: CPT Lowell Gothard is the Air Defense Support Element / Air-Ground Integration Element OCT (formerly the Air Defense Airspace Management / Brigade Aviation Element OCT), MAJ Edward Pecoraro the BDE S-2 Intelligence Officer OCT, CW2 Luis Alicea the Senior BDE Electronic Warfare Targeting Officer OCT, and CSM Bryan Jaragoske acting Command Sergeant Major of Operations Group (formerly BC2 CSM). This episode examines how infantry brigade combat teams must reclaim reconnaissance and security as core competencies following the loss of cavalry squadrons. A central theme is that while the structure has changed, the requirement has not—brigades still must answer PIRs, develop NAIs, and shape the fight before committing combat power. Without a dedicated squadron headquarters to plan and synchronize reconnaissance, those responsibilities now sit squarely with the brigade staff. The discussion highlights friction points in intelligence architecture, reporting pathways, and the synchronization of collection assets, stressing that reconnaissance is no longer “someone else's problem.” Infantry battalions, multi-purpose companies (MPCs), and multi-functional reconnaissance companies (MFRCs) must all contribute to the reconnaissance fight, requiring commanders and staffs to deliberately task, synchronize, and integrate ground patrols, UAS, and other sensing capabilities. The conversation also underscores the need to return to fundamentals—patrolling, reporting discipline, and combined arms integration across warfighting functions. Leaders emphasize that reconnaissance is not limited to scout formations; any element with the capability and proximity can be tasked to collect and report, provided it understands the task and purpose. Effective reconnaissance now demands tighter integration between S2, S3, aviation planners, and electronic warfare sections to sequence sensors, manage airspace, and fuse reporting into actionable intelligence. The key takeaway is clear: brigades must deliberately plan reconnaissance during MDMP, publish detailed reconnaissance guidance, and train these skills at home station. Without that discipline, formations risk fighting blind in LSCO. Part of S13 “Hip Pocket Training” series. The guys from Sasquatch Recon are back. And this time, they're taking us deep into the shadowy lowlands of South Carolina and the mysterious foothills of North Carolina—where the line between wildlife and the unexplained gets very blurry. In this episode, the team recounts a tense and unsettling expedition through South Carolina's swamp country, where a single discovery snowballed into something far more disturbing. A strange footprint. Eerie, unidentifiable vocalizations echoing through the darkness.Moments that made it clear they weren't alone—and whatever was out there didn't want to be seen. The story then shifts to Rutherford County, North Carolina, a well-known hotspot for high strangeness. From repeated wood knocks and fresh footprints to unexplained sightings in the field, the encounters raise serious questions about what's really moving through these forests.Beyond the investigations themselves, the hosts open up about their personal paths into Bigfoot research, the methods they use in the field, and how their experiences increasingly intersect with paranormal phenomena. What starts as cryptid research quickly becomes something deeper—and far more unsettling.Sasquatch Recon YouTube ChannelEmail BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

Hank Wong, veteran law enforcement K9 handler turned DHS contractor, reveals shocking findings from government READY events that test bomb dog teams nationwide: NO team passes odor recognition tests 100% correctly on first attempt. The culprit? Over-reliance on single training kits and lack of exposure to varied manufacturers, packaging, and storage methods.Cameron and Hank break down the critical difference between discrimination (target vs. non-target) and generalization (recognizing target across variations), exposing how most handlers excel at one while failing the other. They discuss why dogs alert to "their version" of explosives but miss real-world threats, how training culture creates false confidence, and what event security teams must do differently.Key Topics:Why training on one kit creates operational gapsThe "chaos factor" science can't measureAction-on-find procedures for security vs. law enforcementHow to read your dog in low-odor scenariosWhy double-blind testing is essentialDiscrimination vs. generalization trainingEssential listening for event security K9 teams, handlers, and anyone responsible for explosive detection programs.Hank Wong Background: 20+ year LE K9 handler (Orlando area), worked dogs Recon, Gunner, Smash, and Keno. Shoot us a Text.Episode #1243: We're talking about a viral moment at Ford's Dearborn plant, a smart strategy for turning old trade-ins into profit, and surprising insights into the real buying power of Gen Alpha.Show Notes with links: President Donald Trump made a high-profile visit to Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant, touring the F-150 line with company leadership, previewing a patriotic new pickup, and filming a CBS interview on the factory floor.Trump was guided by CEO Jim Farley and Executive Chair Bill Ford and saw an F-350 wrapped in an American flag; Ford plans to release it midyear for America's 250th anniversary. The plant was described by Farley as “the most important automotive plant in the United States.”Trump praised Ford's workforce and the sound of the assembly line. The visit ended on a viral note when Trump flipped off a heckling worker during his exit.A GoFundMe has been started for the employee which has raised over 25k from almost 1000 donors.Faced with affordability challenges and aging trade-ins, more dealers are implementing targeted reconditioning strategies to retail vehicles that would've gone to auction just a few years ago.The approach includes dedicated checklists that focus on safety and mechanical soundness while allowing minor cosmetic flaws.Holman adopted this method in June, leading to faster turnaround times and stronger profit margins.Dealers like Premier Automotive and Ganley Automotive are also leaning into older, higher-mileage units to meet demand. The goal is to invest intelligently—fix what matters, disclose the rest, and keep prices approachable.“You have to intelligently dial in the reinvestment,” said Chris Morgan of Holman. “It's not easy—but it works.”A new study shows that kids born after 2010 are already shaping nearly half of family spending decisions—despite most of them not even being old enough to drive.Gen Alpha influences $255B in U.S. spending across food, fashion, and leisure.Their buying influence is powered by peer and family input—not influencers or ads.Visual appeal and style are top decision factors; sustainability ranks low at just 16%.Many Gen Alpha kids are already earning money through informal or part-time jobs.“Our findings show a generation skeptical of media messages and steadfast in their opinions,” said Teneo's Gee Lefevre.Join Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

BLOT was the official game for RECON Remote 25, available to play for all Community, Pro, and Champion ticket holders who opted in. It was created and run by Mark Larson, who was a guest on REPOD S5E11. On this episode, Yannick Trapman-O'Brien and Lyra Levin join us to play BLOT. Lyra was a featured speaker for RECON Remote 25 with her talk, Make Stuff Fast: Rapid Prototyping for Interactive Experiences, now available on YouTube. Yannick originally appeared on REPOD S8E7 to talk about his incredible show for one, Undersigned. They joined us on REPOD for an actual play of BLOT. Lyra and Yannick are both experienced improvisers, and I'd never laughed so hard watching a play-through. Scroll down to the timestamps to follow along with game images. If you missed playing this game during RECON Remote 25, or if you want to relive your glory moments, join us for this final play-through of BLOT.
