The end is here as we reach the Pennyworth Season 2 Finale. Episode 10 The Lion and Lamb establishes a new normal for the show along with a surprising addition to the Batverse. Pennyworth Season 2 Finale: Episode 10 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey With the recovered vial of Storm Cloud in hand, Alfie, Lucius, Daveboy and Thomas along with his father drive back to London in triumph. As Alfie returns to tell his mother of his dad's survival and Storm Cloud is taken to the English League all is not quite as triumphant as they appear. Gully Troy is looking for Alfie, his father has something to hide and the vial containing Storm Cloud is a fake! At Raven Union headquarters John Salt rejects the League's unconditional surrender after they discover his ruse and he makes his way up to his penthouse ready to unleash the real Storm Cloud safely positioned in London ready for detonation. Back in London, with all hope lost, some try and make a run for it while Thomas and Martha say yes and ask Aziz to marry them. Meanwhile, back at Alfie's home, Mrs Pennyworth is shocked to see her husband but finds it in her heart to forgive him. However, the atmosphere is uncomfortable and tense and things get worse when Alfie learns of his father's involvement in the Raven Union's deception. Upset and angry Alfie's home truths to his father and some words from his wife convince him to reveal the location of Storm Cloud in Lord Harwood's coffin. As they race against time to defuse the bomb they are helped when Salt runs into the fists and boots of Bet and Peggy Sykes back at Raven Union HQ, but Salt manages to push the trigger but is arrested by the army and Fracis Gaunt resumes leadership of the Raven Union. In London Storm Cloud activates but “quick” thinking sees Gully swallow the capsule preventing a devastating detonation, but unfortunately for Gully it detonates in his stomach. Six months later as the Raven Union launches it's final assault on London, Martha gives birth to a girl and the English League, led by Alfie and Bet Sykes, unleash a new weapon on the Raven Union forces. It's a mission to save England in Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 9 “Paradise Lost” as Alfie and the boys head to Raven Union HQ. We chat about it all in spoiler filled detail on the Pennyworth Podcast. Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 9 Synopsis Episode Written by: Hannah Boschi Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey With less than 48 hours to go until the English League surrender or face annihilation from the detonation of a Storm Cloud device over London, Alfie, Thomas and Martha concoct a plan to infiltrate Raven Union HQ with Daveboy and Lucius to steal project Stormcloud. Meanwhile Bet and Peggy Sykes also infiltrate the HQ with Vicki Du French to rescue Francis Gaunt and get to High Chancellor John Salt. As the boys enter the mouth of the dragon their plan goes wrong and they are captured, beaten and imprisoned. While Lucius, Daveboy and Thomas languish in their cells, Alfie is reintroduced to his tea-trolly father who tries to persuade him to join the Raven Union side. Failing to convince Alfie, Salt informs Mr Pennyworth that they will enact Plan B - Deception. Back in their cells, they have a fortuitous encounter with Bet, Peggy and Vicki Du French who have rescued Frances Gaunt. As Bet and the girls make their way to Salt's living quarters, Alfie and the boys attempt to escape again and fail. In front of John Salt he gives them a second chance in the ranks of the Raven Union, but is rebuffed. Left with his father, Alfie is offered a chance to escape for a third time which they seize. Alfie, Lucius, Daveboy and Thomas make their way back to London with both the only vial of Storm Cloud and “batteries not included” daddy, who knows more than he is letting on! But as both Parties sit around the negotiating table following the funeral ceremony the Raven Union deliver an ultimatum to the English League to surrender unconditionally or feel the full force of the weapon Storm Cloud. Elsewhere, Bet and Peggy Sykes seek revenge for Harwood’s death and go after John Salt’s mistress, Vicki Du French. They hope to use Vicki as a hostage, but while an attack on the conniving Salt is still on the table, Katie again persuades Bet to spare Vicki’s life and so Vicki becomes another window display at Syke’s House of Pain! Meanwhile, after staying in England to work with Thomas Wayne, Martha, Lucius and the English League Alfie has unfinished business with Gully Troy over the affair with his wife Melanie. Confronting him at his house and despite being prepared, Alfie is overpowered and forced by Gully to play a deadly game of cat and mouse in Epping forest. Injured and bleeding out Alfred manages to use all his survival skills to stop Gully and is rescued by his best friend Daveboy and his mother. Back in London, Alfred prepares for his flight to America with his mother and Daveboy. With vicious rumours swirling about their affair, Alfie and Mealanie Troy have a final fling, but the following day Alfie turns down one last job for her husband Gully Troy, who becomes increasingly suspicious and confronts his wife. After a brutal fight with his wife she flees to Alfred where he offers to take her to America as well. Meanwhile, with the knowledge of Stormcloud the US Embassy also prepares to evacuate all it’s personnel from London. At the airport both Thomas Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth decide not to leave London and continue fighting as Thomas and Lucius Fox share their information on Stormcloud with the English League. It's a bumpy road to get out of England in Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 6 as we discuss "The Rose and Thorn" in full spoiler filled detail. Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 6 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Jon East As Thomas Wayne rushes to extract Lucius Fox from the Raven Union HQ he enlists the assistance of the English League and specifically Martha who is feeling sick. In return for their help Aziz asks that the CIA warn Alister Crowley that John Ripper is out for revenge for the death of Archbishop Potter. Meanwhile, with the imprisonment of Francis Gaunt tensions fester in the top brass at the Raven Union HQ and Harwood increasingly becomes unhinged, seeing betrayal everywhere, through a cocktail of medicine, alcohol and the plotting of Captain Salt. Alfie and Daveboy are roped in to the rescue of Lucius Fox, who is returned safely to the CIA where he warns of the threat from Project Stormcloud. Back at Delaney’s Alfies and Daveboy’s friendship becomes strained as Alfred’s lies to Sandra and his infidelity with Melanie begin to catch up on him. Out in jolly old London town Crowley is picked up by Ripper but some well laced lip gloss allows Crowley to get the better of Ripper. Dropped off at the English League HQ drugged, hallucinating and fearful a demonic Aziz, quietly whispers that he manufactured the events to rid himself of his main competition. Back at Martha’s apartment Patricia Wayne is surreally painting the buttock of a naked man; but she has the answer to Martha’s sickness. She is pregnant! As they make their move on the local wrestling arena, the plan goes badly wrong when civilians are shot and killed by Banjo, one of the members of Gully’s crew. With news of the botched job circulating in the press, Alfred’s mum suspects his involvement and asks him to move out of the house. His father would be very disappointed in him. Alfie’s love life is just as complicated as Gully’s wife, Melanie, reconnects with him in the Delaney club and once again Alfie shuns Sandra’s affections. Elsewhere the closeness between Bet and Katie develops as they must think of creative ways to hide one of Bets former imprisoners, George the Beefeater, at the sex shop (Sykes Pain Supplies) and Katie learns more about Bet’s past. Meanwhile tensions ratchet up at Raven Union HQ between Harwood, increasingly dependent on medication and booze, and Francis Gaunt as he learns of her secret meeting with the English League and loses trust in his old friend. An attack on the Lord Mayor by Alfie, Dave-Boy, Gully and his team to steal gold bars sees tensions rise between Gully and Alfie. At Delaney's, Dave-Boy turns on one of Gullly’s men, Banjo and friendships are on a knife-edge between Gully and Alfie, but as they settle their differences Gully’s wife Mrs Troy and Alfie share a moment down at the bar. Meanwhile, after being shot at by Union forces, Bet Sykes and Katie make it to League-controlled London; but after a couple of days on the streets she finally tracks down her sister Peggy at her new sex aide establishment, Sykes Pain Relief. Elsewhere the English League holds hustings for a new leader and at Raven Union headquarters the high command of Francis Gaunt and Lord Harwood looks delicate as Captain Salt weaves his spidery web to sow dissent and ensure the deployment of his project StormCloud. Lord Harwood becomes increasingly impatient at the lack of military success to reclaim London. Salt demonstrates the potential of his chemical weapon to claim total victory as a spy by the name Doctor Lucius Fox watches on. We're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 3 "The Belt and Welt" the shocking first part of the two-part mid-season finale of Pennyworth. Episode Written by: Jimmy Dowdall Episode Directed By: Rob Bailey A bomb explodes on Micklewhite Avenue outside the Pennyworth house. While Alfie gets a visitation from his late father his mum helps a wounded girl back to health and rediscovers her purpose in life. Meanwhile Alistair Crowley’s manipulation of Prime Minister Archbishop Potter is complete as the holy man is captured in a compromising position with multiple sexual partners. Potter takes his own life leaving the way clear as planned by the CIA. Bet Sykes finally makes contact with an appreciative Lord Harwood who arranges for her retrieval but Frances Gaunt is concerned that Bet’s uncontrollable nature puts the Raven Unions' cause at risk. Following the crushing loss of their travel fund, Alfie falsely accuses Captain Gulliver Troy of betraying them. But Gully offers the boys a job to make back their lost earnings. Back at Delaney’s Dave Boy realises that his drinking has caused their problems. After bragging about their windfall to another group of drinkers at the bar the nefarious group concocted their extortion plan. When Bazza, Dave Boy and Alfie confront the thieves it all gets out of hand and costs Bazza his life in an accidental explosion. Will Dave Boy recover from his part in the death of his best friend? This week we're discussing Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 2 "The Burning Bridge". There's a bump in the road for Alfie's plans, but who is behind it? Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 2 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Danny Cannon Alfie and the boys have the money and are ready to head for a new life in the USA, but Alfie is having trouble telling Sandy at the club of his decision to leave England and he still can’t convince his mum to move with him; as she still struggles with the death of her husband and Alfie’s involvement on that fateful night. As the Raven Union make plans to press their advantage over the English League, differences between Lord Harwood and Frances Gaunt bubble to the surface over the terrifying project Stormcloud. To make things worse for the English League, the CIA has decided to undermine their leadership as they go after British PM Archbishop Potter over his moral stance against the newly developed hydrogen bomb. While Thomas is uncomfortable with this course of action he makes plans to employ his old satanic adversary - Anthony Crowley - to discredit Potter. Elsewhere Bet Sykes is still on the run from the Raven Union with her hostage, Katie Browning; and Alfie finds himself embroiled in another hostage situation. With his mum kidnapped, Alfie , Dave-Boy and Bazza attempt to rescue her, but things head south quickly as Inspector Assiz and the police interrupt the hostage negotiations. In the confusion the ransom of £20,000 is taken by the kidnappers and while his mum is safe the loss of the money puts Alfie's American plans very much on hold. Pennyworth Season 2 Episode 1 Synopsis Episode Written by: Bruno Heller Episode Directed By: Danny Cannon All has changed in England, Lord Harwood has established the Raven Union under authoritarian rule and the No Name League accompanied by the Queen and church have retreated to enclaves as the English League. Captain Sykes is heading up Raven Union interrogations in Norfolk, but hasn’t quite settled in yet and really does not appreciate her superior officers request for a cuppa. She dispatches her boss and helps a suspected Leaguer to escape the detention centre. Meanwhile Alfie, Dave-Boy and Bazza run the Delaney club in no-man's land in the London enclave of Soho keeping the peace between Raven and Leaguer. After hours the boys continue as guns for hire. As the Raven Union presses their advantage, Alfie is approached by Martha to infiltrate enemy lines and kidnap a Union Officer called John Salt, a seemingly unimportant logistics man in the Union army. Pennyworth uses a former army veteran, Captain Gulliver “Gully” Troy, to play both sides against one another for money to further his dream of moving to America; Little does he know, with Salt returned to the Ravens he can continue his work on project Storm Cloud, a plan to deal a deadly chemical attack against the English League and the enclaves of resistance. Outside the tall prison walls, the streets of England descend into anarchy with the return of Lord Harwood and the Prime Minister makes a high stakes gamble as he announces a general election. Both the Raven Society and the No Name League look to secure an electoral pact and agree to meet to seal their deal. Meanwhile Harwood and Frances Gaunt realise that they need the backing of the Queen as Duke and Duchess Windermere become an increasingly frightful nightmare for the Raven Society. Primed with new information about a couple entering the apartment from Bet Sykes, who is also looking to avenge Esme’s murder, Alfred investigates the police as he questions Detective Inspector Aziz. While promising to help, Aziz sets a trap for Alfred as Curzon’s father uses his position in high society and the influence of the Prime Minister to bury the facts, protect his son and keep Alfred permanently quiet. Armed and ready Alfred walks knowingly into the trap. With his gun pointed at Curzon’s head he is saved from the armed police ready to fire by Bet Sykes who holds a knife to Aziz’s throat. With Bet antagonising Curzon, Alfred releases his rage and shoots both Curzon and his wet nurse in the head. Meanwhile, with tensions running high across England and Her Majesty’s government on high alert the Raven Society organise a rally. Up North and still at the kinky Spicer’s, Lord Harwood remembers and he must kill those who have done him harm. Armed with Peggy and Bet Sykes he returns to London. Months later, the streets of England are in turmoil as the gang war rages between the Ravens Society and the No-Name League. As the opposing factions look set to meet and hammer out a truce, a new assignment is on the cards for Martha Kane and Alfred Pennyworth. But Alfred, still in turmoil following Esme’s funeral, turns the work down. Thomas Wayne is forced to look elsewhere, turning to Davy Boy to help murder Frances Gaunt the leader of the Raven Society. Still wallowing in guilt and grief at his parents house, Alfred appears rudderless until John Ripper presents Alfred with an offer of another job that if completed will help to expose the murderer of Esme. At a fine restaurant Frances Gaunt meets the leaders of the No-Name league Julian and Undine Thwaite. Midway through starters Davy Boy attempts his assassination but is shot by his intended target. Bleeding out on the floor another assassin comes for Frances Gaunt. As Alfred unmasks himself he rescues Davy-Boy before killing his target Julian Thwaite. The next morning the world has turned, Frances is still alive, Undine Thwaite wakes up next to John Ripper having betrayed her husband, and Alfred has had more than a pint at the Severed Arms pub. Meanwhile, still afraid of the big bad Bet Sykes, Esme shacks up with Alfred’s parents to stay safe as Alfred and his new employer, Martha Kane, take a train ride into the countryside. Up North, a restless Bet Sykes has had enough of her sister’s clientele and candlesticks and heads back to London to return from the dead and reunite with Esme. On assignment Alfred and Martha have a run-in with the unfriendly villagers and maypole dancers of Borton Wassett who try and stop them from discovering the identity of the new leader of the Raven Society, who turns out to be masquerading as a doctor at the local hospital. Having obtained their Intel, Alfred and Martha head back to London where they exchange a kiss and further tragedy strikes for Alfred at his and Esme’s new home. Later that night at The Severed Arms bar Alfred is approached by a lady called Martha Kane who offers him an assignment. Elsewhere another meeting ends badly as Lord Harwood meets the Barber who tortures and removes his nose. After breaking him he is tossed onto the street, dazed, dirty and destroyed. The next day Alfred picks up Martha and is told that the job is to assist in her rescue of a prized and persecuted scientist Ian Thurso. He has developed a highly advanced computational machine and the Raven Society want it. As they release him from the local police station they head to a disused US Air Force base to fly Ian and his boyfriend Sam to safety. But as the assignment becomes increasingly dangerous and Alfred is told Martha is working for the No Name Society, he must use his quick wits to save Ian from the Raven Society. As Martha promises more work for Alfred, he and Esme attempt to make a fresh start in their own apartment. Somewhere in Northern England laying low from the law, a fidgety Bet Sykes wants to make it back down to London to also attempt a fresh start with Esme! He offers Alfred a job for his nascent security business. However, Alfred turns down the offer from the billionaire businessman, because the company he keeps almost had him and Esme killed! At the Tower of London, the detained Lord Harwood is tortured and interrogated to find out who leads the Raven Society but with limited success. Elsewhere in the Tower, Bet Sykes has a different kind of interrogation by George one of her guards who is tricked into delivering her post. But while she hatches her plan to escape from the Tower, her infatuation with Esme continues as one of her letters makes its way to Esme’s apartment...kiss, kiss...kiss. In Whitechapel, Alfred has accepted a new job from the landlord of the Severed Arms pub whose daughter is being harassed by the creepy and possessive Jason Ripper. As Alfred, Davy-Boy and Bazza set to work on Jason this new assignment puts Alfred firmly in the sights of Jason’s Uncle, the notorious Ripper of the East-end. But the Ripper is persuaded by Alfred to give him the benefit of the doubt by showing that his nephew was a weak link in his crime organisation. With the Pennyworth family back home sat around the telly with a nice cuppa, Alfred makes sure that Bet is executed at the Tower. But all Bets are off as Peggy Sykes comes to free her younger sister from the hangman’s noose. In the wider country opposing factions are threatening the stability and authority of the British Government. On the left the No-Name Society seeking a socialist utopia and on the right the Raven Society looking to establish a facist utopia. Somewhere in the middle Alfred is keen to start his own security firm as he starts his first job as a bouncer at a Soho club. His first night is eventful. He meets an American, named Thomas Wayne, who after protecting his sister Practicia, exchanges his business details to expand his security enterprise. Alfred also meets Esme Winikus, a dancing girl and actress, who he forms a romance with. However, his brief connection with Wayne becomes perilous as it tangles Alfred and a reluctant Esme into close contact with the Raven Society and their enforcer the mysteriously violent lady Bet Sykes. Held hostage by Bet at the behest of the Raven Society’s leader Lord Harwood, Esme’s only chance is Alfred and the exchange of her for Thomas Wayne. As the exchange goes down Alfred must use all his cunning, resourcefulness and his mates to rescue Esme, protect Thomas Wayne and defeat Lord Harwood and Bet Sykes. Petal. Synopsis Directed by: Rob Bailey Written by: John Stephens As a more portly Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) prepares to leave Blackgate Prison after ten years, strange things begin to take place in Gotham on the eve of the return of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) for the opening of the new Wayne Towers. Many of Gotham's residents are waiting for Bruce to return including Selina Kyle (played by Lili Simmons), who is still disappointed she was left behind. Whispers are abound of a dark menace blighting the criminal underworld, while the G.C.P.D. are unable to trace missing US military supplies. As the day arrives and Penguin walks free more offbeat moments ensue as the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) is busted out of Arkham Asylum and a shaken Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) is framed for the murder of an Arkham guard. As Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) begins to piece together the evidence helped by an unknown figure in black, a sinister plot targeting the city of Gotham and Wayne Towers is revealed to be masterminded by Jeremiah Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), or is that Jack, Joseph, John or Mr Jay. As Jim prepares to face the disfigured Jeremiah at ACE Chemicals a new figure emerges to be the hero that Gotham needs.
