This week, we are joined by documentary filmmaker SCOTT CRAWFORD to discuss the director's cut of his D.C. hardcore punk documentary, SALAD DAYS!!! We discussed Scott's punk fanzine that he published in 7th grade, unlocking the mystery of VOID, the sadness of MINOR THREAT's final EP Salad Days, Trouser Press Magazine, devouring punk rock scene reports, seeing FUGAZI play in a hippie cafeteria, witnessing RITES OF SPRING's legendary live shows, being able to name all members of BEEFEATER, the divisiveness within its own scene, MARGINAL MAN, Rock against Reagan, do our first punk shows really count as punk shows, renting out VFA halls to put on punk shows, self-policing all ages show in D.C., 9:30 Club, what made Scott revisit the film to make a director's cut (the answer might surprise you!), growing up in a band, the violence that came into the scene, Revolution Summer, Brian Baker's interview style, Faith Vs. Void, punk shifting towards metal, getting hit in the face by a guitar headstock, how Scott got access to footage of SOA & BAD BRAINS, Positive Force, and learning never to have your band follow Fugazi live!!!So we'll see you in the pit (and pick your friend if they fall down) in this week's episode of Revolutions Per Movie!!!SCOTT CRAWFORD:https://www.saladdaysdc.com REVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss. This week on The KOKO Show we come to your eyes and ears by way of the Central Tablelands in NSW as the fellas finish off our inaugural season of KOKO in Orange. Despite the boys being of weary body and mind, they bound their Northern Hemisphere inflicted wounds, popped a couple Nurofen plus and got back on this bucking bronco of a show to finish the year off in grassroots style. When we started this show, all we wanted to do is help the average Aussie footy fan fall back in love with rugby again, whilst giving back to the OG footy fans in our rural and regional communities. Oh Boy! Let us bloody tell you rugby union is alive and well if northwest NSW is anything to go by and we can't thank The Saltbush Hotel, Orange and the surrounding areas enough for their support of the show in our final episode of season one.In this week's episode we put a pretty little Chrissy bow on what was a whirlwind debut season for Kick Offs and Kick Ons, discussing the year that was 2024 in both the contexts of our show as well as the World Rugby landscape as a whole. The lads breakdown their highs and lows of the year, who and what caught their eye on the field and what 2025 has in store for all of us. We would like to give a big thank you to our headline sponsor MYER for all of their support this year and allowing us to create a show that accurately conveys the light and shade of Australian Rugby. Plus, we would also like to show some love to all of our sponsors throughout 2024 for being vital cogs in the wheel of success that was KOKO 1.0. In a year that has seen us laugh, cry, sit on milk crates and then travel to all corners of the globe, it is you our fans that deserve the final thanks. Without your support week in and week out, we wouldn't be able to put this poor excuse of a podcast together and for that we are eternally grateful. So, for the final time in 2024 lather yourself in baby oil, put on your comfiest lounging around g-banger and let the buttery tones of KOKO take you on a journey. It is time for Kick Offs and Kick Ons.TIMECODES 00:00 - Start of the show 01:36 - Introducing the show03:51 - Introducing the boys07:05 - Thanks to the Saltbush Hotel for having us10:56 - Highlights and lowlights of the year17:41 - Favourite guest 21:20 - Budgy Smuggler23:40 - THE WALLABIES YEAR AND AWARDS29:16 - Joe Schmidt's future in Australian Rugby 33:39 - Wallabies five year plan 37:03 - The Lions tour39:12 - SIX NATIONS PREVIEW42:25 - THE ALL BLACKS' YEAR IN 202446:23 - THE SPRINGBOKS' YEAR IN 202448:52 - ARGENTINA'S YEAR IN 2024 54:44 - Match Fit brought to you by MYER 01:03:01 - Drew thanks the fans of the show 01:04:17 - What does KOKO look like in 2025?01:07:53 - Close of the show and season 1 of KOKOBig thanks to MYER for their support and remember you can buy everything you saw on the show from you local MYER or online - https://www.myer.com.auCheers also to BeefEater for coming back on board with KOKO, please check out their websites to see their great selection of BBQ's, rangehoods and fridges.AUSTRALIA - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/brand/beefeaterEUROPE - https://beefeaterbbqeurope.co.uk/pages/contact-usA massive thanks to our new beer sponsor, Easy Times Brewing Co. This week on The KOKO Show the lads leave their luggage-less European odyssey behind to take on the delicious yet dangerous deserts of Dubai. As we all know December signals the end of the International Test season down under, with the resurgent Wallabies going down in a tight tussle against the intoxicating Irish in Dublin. With that being said the KOKO Crew breaks down all the ins and outs of that encounter and how Aussie fans should be buoyed by what we saw in Joe Schmidt's heartbreaking homecoming. However, as we close the book on 2024's Test Match madness, the lads open up the sensational sevens scrapbook as we look at all the action from the Emirates Dubai Sevens. We trade in the slush and sleet of soggy Europe for the sun and sand of the UAE, to bring you a cracking show from the comfort of the Emirates Dubai Sevens Sunroom, as we celebrate the Aussie women and the Fiji men for claiming their respective titles over the weekend. Plus, the gang are joined by two of the all time greats who are now part of the HSBC red polo stable raking in that global dollar, so please get ready to enjoy the stories and world class banter from Bryan Habana and Michael Hooper. To cap off a cracking episode we express our love and support for all the people and entities involved in putting together this KOKO Tour and of course we show our appreciation for the beautiful people at MYER with an all time mixed bag Match Fit all they from the Dubai desert. As we near the end of our inaugural season as The KOKO Show we encourage you not to worry and be happy because we promise to be back bigger and better next year. This week on the KOKO Show the lads are coming to you from the billionaire's backyard, Monaco. In a nation known for its tangy tax breaks, OTT opulence and a general intolerance for Aussie ‘riff raff', there are four bog standard blokes with no voices, peaking anxiety levels and rented tuxedos leaving their mark on this really tidy town. We are in Prince Albert's country for the World Rugby Awards and after dragging Holiday Swoop away from the open bar, Drew away from stalking Dupont and putting Goit's shirt back on for the red carpet, we found ourselves just a little sliver of time to bring you a truly luxe podcasting presentation of perfection. As the Autumn Internationals come to close with only one match remaining next weekend, with the Aussies taking on the Irish, we give you a full breakdown of all the action from week three of the November Test Match madness. Moreover, despite the panel being down in the dumps after watching the Wallabies' Grand Slam hopes get murdered at Murrayfield, we run through all the ins and outs of Scotland's sublime sinking of HMAS ‘Schmidt Hot' and how the Aussies will bounce back against the Irish. Plus, we will give you a little taste of all the matches from across the weekend, as well as all the winners and grinners from World Rugby's night of nights. I mean it aint the Logies or the RSL's mega meat tray raffle, but Monaco is pretty cool I guess. So, get yourself squared away as we bring you MYER's first Monaco mixed bag Match Fit and some seriously sensational ‘Super Sizzlers' brought to you by BeefEater and Appliances Online. This show will certainly bring you vacay vibes, as boys go full ‘maxo relaxo' in the middle of the Med. Despite our show standing out like dogs balls in such a serene setting, we promise to deliver you a demure dictation of the most distinguished debauchery in all of rugby. It is time now for Kick Offs and Kick Ons the Monaco edition. This week on The KOKO Show we come to your eyes and ears from foggy old London, where people come to complain and sun tans come to die. The Special guest this week on KOKO does not have a long neck nor feathers, but boy he is a bit of a goose. He is England's most capped player of all time and from all accounts one of the best blokes to ever grace a footy field. We apologize you have to listen to this pint-sized pain in the ass for a whole episode, but we are truly grateful that Mr. Ben Youngs dropped by for a chat. The boys run through the whole slate of Test Match footy from week 2 of the November Internationals, starting with the Wallabies record-breaking win over the woeful Welsh, England falling short once again to their Southern Hemisphere counterparts, Les Bleus bouncing the big boy All Blacks and plenty more from around the grounds. Thanks to our dear friends at MYER we bring you some silky summer threads from the dullest place on earth in a confusingly beautiful mixed bag ‘Match Fit' and we fire up the grills to deliver our ‘Super Sizzlers' from the weekend's action, brought to you by BeefEater and Appliances Online. So lock up families, chain up your pets, and clear out your safety deposit boxes. The KOKO Contiki Tour is in full swing and Holiday Swoop has been let out of his cage. As we have always said on this show, when the Wallabies ‘Schmidt It In', KOKO ‘Schmidts' alongside them but one thing is for sure our boys turn that ‘Schmidt' up to a ten. So, sit back and enjoy as we lock in on those kilt-wearing caber tossers, that's right Scotland you're next! This week on The KOKO Show we take a minute as a nation to bask in the radiant light of victory and the glorious healing properties of ‘Schmidting it in' over the old foe. The lads whisk you away on an all expenses paid trip in and around how the Wallabies managed to win their first match against England at Twickenham since 2015, keeping the hopes of breaking the 40 year Grand Slam drought well and truly alive. To help us navigate this titanus tussle at ‘Twicks' we tried to think of a former English great that would willingly allow us to rub his nose in the fact that Australia is simply just better as a country, so we landed on Gits' big burly and often baked bear of a best mate, Mr Alex Corbisiero who gives the show some much needed direction pointing out the areas of the game that caught his eye and the importance of professional identity. Furthermore, to put a bow on this vital victory for the mighty men in gold we dish up our ‘Super Sizzlers' brought to you by BeefEater and Corbs generously graces us with a ‘phat rap' dedicated to our show.Plus, we also cover all the other big dog bouts including the All Black's upset of Ireland, the Boks silencing the Scots and of course Fiji whaling on Wales. We know what you are thinking, what are you guys wearing whilst you piece together this rugby roundtable of awesomeness? Well thanks to MYER the fellas are fashionably on point and they show you just what to buy for summer in the newest instalment of the always wonderful mixed bag ‘Match Fit'. So lie back and get comfy as we tell you a raunchy tale from the weekend entitled ‘The Grand Slam', where the Northern Hemisphere wined and dined the South, then we rolled around in their fields a little, used their shower, sullied their tooth brush and never called them again, leaving the North's ego bruised, used and confused heading into week 2 of the tour. It's time for an all new Kick Offs and Kick Ons.TIMECODES:00:00 - Start 02:29 - Introductions 06:56 - ‘How Was Your Weekend Swoop?' segment10:13 - Swoop's return to the ‘KOKO Match Review'14:31 - Movember16:00 - London City Sevens16:35 - Introduce Alex Corbisiero 21:28 - San Diego Legion doco25:00 - ENGLAND V WALLABIES MATCH REVIEW44:06 - Super Sizzler brought to you by BeefEater 51:09 - Corb's special rap for The KOKO Show55:16 - KOKO European Tour56:00 - Dubai Sevens56:42 - IRELAND V ALL BLACKS MATCH REVIEW01:03:30 - SCOTLAND V SOUTH AFRICA MATCH REVIEW 01:06:26 - WALES V FIJI MATCH REVIEW 01:08:51 - Match Fit brought to you by MYER 01:16:58 - KOKO Final Show in Orange 01:18:24 - Easy Times Brewing Co KOKO Christmas collection01:21:26 - Dear Drew01:25:19 - Close of the show Big thanks to MYER for their support and remember you can buy everything you saw on the show from you local MYER or online - https://www.myer.com.auCheers also to BeefEater for coming back on board with KOKO, please check out their websites to see their great selection of BBQ's, rangehoods and fridges.AUSTRALIA - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/brand/beefeaterEUROPE - https://beefeaterbbqeurope.co.uk/pages/contact-usFinally a massive thanks to our new beer sponsor, Easy Times Brewing Co. This week in the ‘KOKO Match Review' the boys celebrate an amazing Wallabies win against the old foe England in the dying moments at Twickenham. The ‘Gladiators of Gold' showed a new identity of grit and determination to claim only their second Test Match win over the motherland in their last twelve matchups. The gang analyzed Aussie debutant Joseph Sua'ali'i's performance as he became only the second Wallaby behind our very own Matt Giteau to play their first professional rugby union match on the international stage. Although Joseph's bank balance might have a few less commas than Goits, he did however manage a feat that our little legend couldn't by claiming player man of the match honours in his very first outing. In a game where both sides landed punches and weathered storms, the lads highlight that for the Wallabies Len Ikitau had a formidable performance in every facet of the game and for the English it is fair to say Marcus Smith has put a stake in the ground as a premier fly half in world rugby. However, it was Joe Schmidt's men who dug deep for the full eighty minutes and ensured that the always elusive Grand Slam title was still alive and kicking for the Wallabies in 2024. The lads will cover every square inch of this cracking Test Match documenting the emotional ebbs and flows of International rugby and how the mighty Wallabies took a Schmidt on England's parade. So wake the fuck up and smell the roses that we just stole from those pesky primadonna Poms. Australia it is time to stop checking your blood pressure, pop a ‘xanny', pour yourself a spritz and just bathe in the warm and fuzzies that a win over England provides. Please enjoy another dose of the ‘KOKO Match Review'.Big thanks to MYER for their support and remember you can buy everything you saw on the show from you local MYER or online - https://www.myer.com.auCheers also to BeefEater for coming back on board with KOKO, please check out their websites to see their great selection of BBQ's, rangehoods and fridges.AUSTRALIA - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/brand/beefeaterEUROPE - https://beefeaterbbqeurope.co.uk/pages/contact-usFinally a massive thanks to our new beer sponsor, Easy Times Brewing Co. This week on The KOKO Show the boys are joined by a Wallabies Test Centurion, pint sized powerhouse and just all around great bloke. This fella was known for his delicious service from the base of the ruck and the amazing ability to live on a steady diet of self confidence and Pepsi Max. That is right, Will Genia drops by to impart his wisdom, footy insights and humour on our delightful panel of dullards. In this episode the boys break down the All Black's nail biting victory over England, as well as Scotland's schooling of a feeble Fiji at Murrayfield. Fret not ye KOKO cool cats, this is not where the ‘ra ra' ramble ends, as the fellas fine tooth comb their way through week 1 of the November Internationals giving you personalised previews of all the hot tips and count flips when it comes to deciding who is better between the North and South. However, we spend a little more time on how Joe's ‘Gladiators of Gold' are shaping up to dismantle the motherland and priming themselves to sufficiently ‘Schmidt' on England's parade. Plus, thanks to our beautiful friends at MYER for keeping this show on its toes, we slide out another silky yet sensual ‘Match Fit' that promises to hit you in all the right places. Furthermore, with the mercury rising and the ocean glittering our hankering for a grilling session is coming to the surface, so thanks to BeefEater and Appliances Online the time for a BBQ is now. So sit back, plug in your iPod shuffle, flip a couple of snags and bask in the glow of KOKO, as we prepare the nation to watch our mighty Wallabies turn Twickenham into a temple of torture, whilst joyfully downing our foes that wear that silly rose. This week on The KOKO Show the lads are back after a much needed hiatus, filled with meditation retreats, prostate exams and day trips to their local VIP gaming facilities. All in all it is fair to say that they are back with a renewed energy for life and the sole mindset of delivering to you our beautiful fans a just above average entertainment experience. With this being our first episode back on the horse after a break we thought let's not burden our beautiful minds with the pressures of a special guest, but rather let's see this wild beast of a ‘no guest nonsense' show organically grow to thoroughly encompass both the joys of rugby union and the unrivalled shenanigans deep within us all. Thanks to MYER this show is able to remain on the air and this week they kept the lights on so we can give you a full preview of the upcoming spring/autumn tours where us the salty Southerners will once again pull the pants down of some Northern nobodys in dramatic Test Match fashion. In this episode we give you a full run sheet of how each team plans to ‘Schmidt it in' north of the invisible line whilst also preparing the residence of the UK and Ireland for their impending arrival to the ‘Motherland' for our highly anticipated KOKO Spring Tour brought to you by MIXR and the WRU. Plus, our sun kissed studs show off their exquisite summer ready loot from MYER in another masterful mixed bag Match Fit. We also sing our praises for the gorgeous humans at Easy Times Brewing Co for their delightfully delicious and drinkable drops and of course you can't have beer without a BBQ, so we give a massive thanks to BeefEater and AppliancesOnline for their continual support. So please raise your hands if you have missed us! Well we are back whether you like it or not and we are after only one thing and that is to be ‘Kings of the Noth'. This week on The KOKO Show we say farewell to The Rugby Championship and we congratulate the Springboks on their first win in 5 years, as well as acknowledging their charmingly chunky trophy case. Soon it is our belief Rassie will need a rental space to stash all their hard earned and metabolically manifested hardware from across the globe. In order to put a neat little bow on this Southern Hemisphere slugfest of Test Match rugby we get the boys to grade all the nations in the TRC on how they performed in the past six games and where they stack up as they head north for their respective spring tours. Whilst we talk about our little friends north of the Equator, the KOKO Crew drop the dates and details for their hotly anticipated spring time tour, as the lads get ready to ruthlessly rumble with live shows in Cardiff, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. So please head to our website for all the necessary information, so you the punter can be part of this debaucherous descent on the UK and Ireland. As we take a little step back from the Test Match arena this week, we decided that there is no greater distraction from the ebbs and flows of footy than our next very special guest. If you ever need to fill a pod from whistle to whistle then this bloke is your answer, because when he gets tired talking about himself he has every expectation that you will pick up the baton and continue this self-centered lovefest. This larger than life loveable larrikin stopped by KOKO HQ for an unforgettable session and turned this once quaint and humble rugby show into the throbbing hog it has always wanted to be. So please put your hands together for this full time fucking legend and part time grumpy bastard. He is a big, bald, beautiful Brisbane boy and he is The KOKO Show's Mt Everest, it is the one and only Mr Wendell Sailor. However, in between all these delightfully Dell infused discussions we find some time to show our major sponsor MYER some love with a masterfully manicured mixed bag ‘Match Fit'. Plus, we sucked back on a couple of lagers from Easy Times Beer Co and discussed our ‘Super Sizzlers' for the week thanks to our dear friends at BeefEater and Appliances Online. So if you are in need for a little trip down ‘Degenerate Drive' to really loosen the shackles and get amped for summer then this show is the one for you. This week on ‘The KOKO Match Review' the boys are up bright and early nursing sore heads and weary eyes to give you ‘ra ra' roundup like no other. We will fine-tooth comb our way through Bledisloe two, where the All Blacks were pushed to the edge early by a brave and willing Wallabies team in windy Wellington. After getting off to a fast start this week the Wallabies mounted significant pressure, but when push came to shove, the points came a lot easier for the big brutal boys from the land of the long white cloud. The papers and social clips will read that the Wallabies went down two to nil in the Bledisloe Cup, but it is clear to the naked eye that our ‘Gangsters of Gold' are putting in a ‘Schmidt' tonne effort and are progressing nicely. With the TRC on the line it would be reckless of The KOKO Crew not to address the neat little treat in Nelspruit between the Springboks and Pumas. Although the Pumas had a snowflake's chance in hell to hold the TRC title in their sassy South American hands, it was the banging Boks in the end that got up really big for Eben Etzebeth in his record breaking match. The ‘Green Goblins' of gritty rugby proved way too strong at home for the pedestrian Pumas, claiming their much deserved place at the tippy top of The Rugby Championship. So if you are rising slowly this fine morning muttering the words “Sundays are for Swoop” then throw on your coziest crotchless pants and listen to our dulcet tones to get you really hot and heavy. It is time for ‘The KOKO Match Review'. 00:00 - Intros02:18 - Springboks v Los Pumas12:07 - Wallabies v All Blacks20:49 - KOKO Beers for Sale - go to www.kickoffsandkickons.comBig thanks to MYER for their support and remember you can buy everything you saw on the show from you local MYER or online - https://www.myer.com.auCheers also to BeefEater for coming back on board with KOKO, please check out their websites to see their great selection of BBQ's, rangehoods and fridges.AUSTRALIA - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/brand/beefeaterEUROPE - https://beefeaterbbqeurope.co.uk/pages/contact-usFinally a massive thanks to our new beer sponsor, Easy Times Beer Co. This week on The KOKO Show we take a long hard look at round five of The Rugby Championship, a weekend that saw the giddy guys of gold push the All Blacks to the edge in Bledisloe one, as well as the World Champion blazing Boks getting pantsed by the prideful Pumas in a one point thriller. These games are broken down and picked apart by the KOKO Crew as if they were vultures on a sun baked Kudu carcass lying in the middle of the Serengeti. To help us through this delectable feast of footy filled fabulousness, we have called in the big guns. This fella is one of New Zealand's favourite and somewhat forgotten sons, In 2011 he was the first-five that went from whitebait fishing to World Cup winning. So, please put your hands together for the wholesome hairy Beaver, the Waikato Wizard and the only man to ooze sexy with the middle name Rexy, Mr Stephen Donald. In this week's episode Beaver takes across the ditch to see what the classy Kiwis are saying about their side's sub-par performance over the weekend, whilst also lifting the lid on what appears to be the start of a footy fuelled national crisis in New Zealand. With all this sporting sensationalism hooked straight to our veins, the boys felt it was pertinent to spend a little time to show MYER our major sponsor some love with a perfectly fierce, flashy and spectacularly ‘sigma' mixed bag ‘Match Fit. Plus, we go around again with our meaty mates from BeefEater, serving up some serious ‘Super Sizzlers' and the lads issue a big thanks to our purveyor of mothers milk Easy Times Beer Co for quenching the needs of four thirsty men.On top of all this we roll out a couple of fan fables on the ‘Dear Drew' hotline and we bring back a juicy ‘Northern Hemisphere Legends' as the top-halfers go ham for footy once again. So get out your paints, don your smocks and dust off the old easel, we want you to paint us like one of your French girls, as this porous pod sinks to brand new lows. This week in the ‘KOKO Match Review' the boys peel back the layers on the All Blacks Bledisloe Cup victory in Sydney and they also have a little gander at top of the TRC tussle between Argentina and the Springboks. In James Slipper's record breaking 140th cap for his country, it was the men from the land of the long white cloud that started fast against the wasteful Wallabies, stacking on the 21 unanswered in the first 15 minutes. Despite a brave and gutsy comeback from our ‘Gladiators in Gold' in the second half, the early All Black rampage had us Aussies pushing ‘Schmidt' uphill. It might be another ‘L' in the results column for the Wallabies, but the KOKO Crew discuss at length the strengths and pitfalls of this young Aussie side heading into game two in Wellington. The fellas also find a morsel time to touch on the ‘Big Boy' bout between Argentina and South Africa. In a match where the stakes were sky high for both sides in relation to their TRC title hopes, but it was the punishing Pumas that went full alpha and said “hold my Malbec”, as they tightened up the TRC race heading into the final round in Nelspruit. With the Bled locked up at Razor's ranch and the TRC crown still up for grabs, it is time for the men of KOKO to bathe in the delicacies and nuances of our beautiful game, please enjoy another dose of the ‘KOKO Match Review'. On this dive into the archives of Cocktail College, we're joined by Jeffrey Morgenthaler of Portland, Ore.'s Pacific Standard to discuss one of the world's most iconic cocktails: the Negroni. Morgenthaler schools us on how to perfect this classic and explains how his barrel-aged-Negroni became a national — and international — phenomenon. Listen on to learn Morgenthaler's spec — and don't forget to leave a rating, review, and subscribe! Jeffrey Morgenthalers' Negroni Recipe Ingredients - 1 ounce Beefeater gin - 1 ounce Cinzano Rosso vermouth - 1 ounce Campari - Garnish: orange twist or wedge Directions 1. Add all ingredients to a chilled rocks glass with ice. 2. Stir until chilled. 3. Garnish with an orange twist or wedge.
This week on The KOKO Show we set the scene for round five of the TRC, bigging up all things Bledisloe Cup and how the Wallabies can leave a hypothetical bag of flaming Schmidt on the All Black's doorstep. Despite the Trans-Tasman tussle being the centerpiece this weekend, we also give the Argentina v South Africa title race match a little love, debating whether the prancing Pumas have what it takes at home to pull down some silky Springbok slacks. In order to enhance all this glorious rugby chat we have enlisted the help of one of the greatest Kiwis to ever do it. He might be small in stature but boy was he big in the ‘pain in the arse' department, he is the puny punisher from Palmerston North and the Herculean halfback who broke Aussie hearts for fun. Please welcome our favourite little deep fried delicacy Mr Aaron ‘Nuggy' Smith. On the show, Nuggy breaks down what it's like watching the All Blacks from afar, how he sees the Bledisloe Cup panning out and lifts the lid on the terrifying fact that his International playing days might not be over. With all this manic footy preparation surrounding the KOKO Crew we spare a little time to show MYER our major sponsor some love with a perfectly curated, elegantly electric and decadently drenched mixed bag ‘Match Fit. Plus, we welcome back our meaty mates from BeefEater and the lads issue a big thanks to our new beer/mothers milk provider Easy Times Beer Co out of Brisbane. On top of all this fiscal fanfare we fill this fallow week with three new spectacular segments which include, ‘Sundays are for Swoop', ‘Get fit with Gits' and ‘Dear Drew: The KOKO Hotline'. So sit back, lather yourself in coconut oil, sit in the sun and sizzle in the serenity of our podcasting putridness. They say there is nothing healthy about our show, but fuck me it is always a wild ride. This week on the KOKO Show we give you a double guest charcuterie board filled to the brim with Olympic sized treats. We are joined by the one woman wrecking crew who prefers flattening opponents than crossing the whitewash, she is known as the Narrabeen Knuckle Duster, but we just like to call her Miss Sariah Paki. On top of having one of the star players, we thought let's also get the gentleman that puts these gold medal gurus through their paces. He is the Russel Crowe of the Women's Sevens set up and boy does he have a beautiful mind, it is the mercurial messenger, Mr Tim Walsh. With the KOKO torch lit and the ceremony over, Sariah and Tim dove deep into their Olympic preparations, discussed the sacrifices for success and illuminated the best path for their gold medal domination in Paris. Plus, the boys most certainly jumped through all the Olympic rings to bring you your favourite KOKO segments including a full ‘Rugby Roundup' where we breakdown the Blues v Chiefs final, we had a quick visit to Dr ‘What's Drewing?' to discuss Joe Schmidt's first Wallaby Squad, as well as a little squizz at the winners and losers out of the All Blacks selection session. The boys then took a little jaunt North of the Equator to unpack all the footy action over the weekend which included England pounding Japan, the Springboks emasculating the Welsh, the Top 14 Semis and finally the URC Final.Just kick back in your comfy, stylish and durable threads from our headline sponsor Polo Ralph Lauren and let's bloody manifest about living out our Olympic dream of being higher, faster and stronger together. So, all that is left to do is take your favourite Matt Giteau gummy, run to the fridge for snacks and hammer-curl a glass of crisp Savvy B, it's time for another session of Kick Offs and Kick Ons.00:00 - Start of the show 00:33 - Polo Ralph Lauren Plug 01:07 - Show intro02:24 - The boys intros04:00 - Recap of the boy's weekends 07:42 - ‘Match Fit' segment brought to you by Polo Ralph Lauren13:16 - Socials and website plug 14:22 - Daniel Ricciardo loves the KOKO merch15:21 - Social Snitches segment17:39 - Introducing Tim Walsh and Sariah Paki37:09 - Who are the Aussie Women's Sevens biggest rivals40:01 - Tim Walsh almost got Gits to play sevens41:51 - Bringing fifteens players into the sevens last minute45:09 - The KOKO Quiz 59:08 - Rugby Roundup Segment 59:18 - Super Rugby Final01:04:18 - What's Drewing? - Discussing the Wallabies and All Blacks squads01:10:43 - Northern Hemisphere Legends01:29:02 - Top 14 Semi-Finals 01:33:53 - Super Sizzler brought to you by BeefEater and special KOKO ‘Beef10' discount code01:38:49 - Thanks to Polo Ralph Lauren our headline sponsor01:39:33 - Signing off the showBig thanks to Polo Ralph Lauren for their support and remember you can buy everything you saw on the show from you local MYER or online - https://www.myer.com.au/b/Polo%20Ralph%20LaurenGet yourself 10% off with the code 'Beef10' and also support the show!AUSTRALIA - https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/brand/beefeaterEUROPE - https://beefeaterbbqeurope.co.uk/pages/contact-usBUY YOUR KOKO MERCHANDISE RIGHT NOW - www.kickoffsandkickons.comMake sure you follow us on all socials:INSTA: @kickoffskickonsTWITTER/X: @kickoffskickonsYOUTUBE: @kickoffsandkickonsTIKTOK: @kickoffskickonsIf you do want to talk about sponsorship or anything business related then please do get in touch with us info@shtn.com.au. This week on The KOKO Show, the lads go free solo on another ‘No Guest Nonsense' episode. We felt it was time to once again serve up a raw and glam-free helping of footy, fun and complete fuck-wittery. With Mr Muscles Matt Giteau joining us from the Midwestern utopia that is Chicago we had to get straight to business, whilst still treating you to a full KOKO buffet and still ensuring that the ‘Imposing Imp' was early to bed and well rested for his big game. Thanks to our headline sponsor Polo Ralph Lauren, in partnership with MYER, the fellas are looking on fleek and are dripping with sumptuous style, for another installment of the always fashionable ‘Match Fit'. Plus, we give you a wall to wall ‘Rugby Roundup' segment, breaking down what happened in the Super(b) Rugby Semi Finals, previewing the final between the Blues and the Chiefs, as well as a healthy dose of medicinal madness from Dr ‘What's Drewing?'.However, the fun doesn't stop there as we keep chillin' and grillin' with our dear friends at BeefEater and Appliances Online, throwing a couple of grassfed ‘Super Sizzlers' on the barbie for you all to enjoy. As you all know the boys threw together a ‘Halfway Wallabies XV' mid-way through the season and now that all the Aussie teams are out and Schmidty has his silky hands all over his cattle, we thought it was pertinent to make it official with The KOKO Show's ‘Full-Way Wallabies Starting XV'.So throw in your earpods and crank up that sound cancellation, drown out life and just bask in the beauty that is ‘No Guest Nonsense', then get on the Internet and buy some Polo Ralph Lauren garb and a bloody BeefEater, so we can keep making your Tuesday's tangy. Quady Winery co-founder Andy Quady is our guest today on California Wine Country with Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger. The Quady Winery is located in Madera in the San Joaquin Valley. Their website shows an exotic version of a Margarita and also an idea for Sangria made with Moscato. Most of what they make is Muscat grapes, or Moscato. Orange Muscat is also called Moscato Fior d'arancio (Italian for Orange Flower Muscat). They also use Muscat Hamburg, also called Black Muscat. Muscat Canelli (so-called in California) is Moscato Bianco, used in all the Italian Moscato wines. The first Quady Winery vintage was 1975. They made their first Vermouth in 1999. He graduated from UC Davis and spent a lot of time in southern France. He saw that in Marseille they have a habit of drinking a vermouth as an aperitif. Its combination of bitterness and sweetness works well at that moment of the day, before a meal. Dan Berger explains how quality vermouth should be treated, which is not the way it is treated here in the US. People open a vermouth and use some, then put it away. The wine oxidizes and loses flavor. In Europe people don't have that problem because they drink more of it and it doesn't hang around. Quady makes three vermouths, dry, extra dry and sweet. Vya is the name of their line of Vermouth and Andy has a good story of its origin. Click the logo to visit Davis Bynum Wines. In the US we use vermouth as a cocktail ingredient but in Europe people drink it straight, mostly on the rocks, as an aperitif. In Italy, people drink white or red vermouth over ice, before dinner. Andy started making vermouth because he had a customer who ran a restaurant where the customers didn't want old stale crummy vermouth in their drinks. The extra dry vermouth would go with a gin martini, and the Whisper would go with vodka. Click the logo to visit our sponsor Rodney Strong for info on the 2024 Summer Concert series. The label includes the plants (or "botanicals" if you prefer) that go into flavoring the vermouth. People drink vodka martinis because they don't like gin, so the vermouth shouldn't suggest a gin martini either, which is a result that Andy can achieve with his highly perfumed and delicately flavored vermouth. Other vermouth brands treat their recipe like a family secret or a state secret. Dan pronounces the aromatics, "captivating but delicate." Beefeater gin is made only with juniper flavor. This makes a classic martini when mixed with a vermouth that matches and compliments the juniper flavor.

Our guest today is Ross, who is a Warden at The Tower of London. This episode is nothing short of a fascinating (and absolutely bonkers) history lesson that involves elephants drinking wine, Anne Boleyn's ghost, William the Bastard aka Conqueror, and a bloke called Colonel Blood who tried to steal the Crown Jewels and ended up being the King's best mate. Plus, we learn what is the actual point of a Beefeater. The genre of split-base classic cocktails is a lot thinner than you might imagine. And, honestly, it's questionable whether today's drink, The Warday's, can even be considered a classic, such is its relative anonymity. But it is past time you get to know this 1930s gin and apple brandy mashup. Here to explore it with us is Eryn Reece, a New York-based bartender, qualified spirits expert and judge, Speed Rack National Champion, and Tales of the Cocktail Dame Hall of Fame Inductee. Listen on (or read below) to discover Eryn's Warday's recipe — and don't forget to like, review, and subscribe! Eryn Reece's Warday's Recipe Ingredients - 1 ounce Calvados, such as Lemorton - 1 ounce London Dry gin, such as Beefeater - ¾ ounce sweet vermouth, such as Carpano Antica - ¼ ounce yellow Chartreuse - Garnish: lemon twist Directions 1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. 2. Stir until cold and strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass. 3. Garnish with a lemon twist. Hosted on Acast. You are invited back into the Talking Hitchcock screening room! Join creator and host, Hitchcock enthusiast, Rebecca McCallum with special guest film scholar, artist and educator Beth Bullock as they take some bad advice from a friend whilst saunering at the Beefeater Club and travel from New York to Lake Placid to discuss the screwball comedy MR AND MRS SMITH (1941). I was delighted to be joined by such a special guest who is the absolute expert and go-to voice when it comes to this film. In what might be the biggest deep dive ever on the film to date, we cover Hitchcock's relationship with the incredible Carole Lombard and theorise on what this film tells us about the art of playing, gender roles in marriage and did I mention, the Freudian slit? So, let the games begin as we bend the rules, take some bad advice from a friend whilst saunering at the Beefeater club and travel from Manhattan to Lake Placid as we press the doorbell of Mr and Mrs Smith! It's really fun having Alex Delany back on the show and getting to know the food and drink writer (and rare book collector) a little bit better. You may know Alex from his time working at Bon Appétit as a writer covering home cooking, wine, cocktails, and naturally processed coffee (respect), as well as a series of memorable YouTube videos. But since leaving BA in early 2021, Alex has been busy working as a consultant, podcaster, wine educator, and most recently as the author of a really cool city guide called “Everything Good.” On this episode we talk about the summer of NA beer, the summer of Superiority Burger, love for Richmond, Karma vs. Mast, Andy Warhol's lost cookbook, love for Beefeater, and what's next. Have you ever stood in a liquor store just looking at the labels? How about watching your favorite show and knowing what bottles are what based on shape alone? Have you ever bought a bottle based on the aesthetics alone? How about decanters and the like? We usually talk about what's inside the bottle on this podcast, but today we're flipping the script. Companies like Stranger & Stranger are responsible for bottle design, labels, and the overall packaging that make products stand out on shelves of hundreds of competitors. Kevin Shaw, Stranger & Stranger founder, talks through brand formation, creating a look that's iconic and representative, and the briefings from Snoop Dogg. Need a list of companies they've worked with? Try this: Compass Box, Jack Daniels, El Tesoro, Dewars, Howling Head, Powers, Ferrand, Hirsch, Bakers, Castle & Key, Beefeater, Don Papa Rum, Aberfeldy, and 19 Crimes, just to name a few of the 7,000 products they've worked on. _________________ Before we jump into the interview just a few quick notes: If you haven't joined the Patreon community yet, please consider doing so! On the road again Welcome to What's The Matter With Me? Podcast S6, Ep. 45 “San Diego Trip” In this episode, I'm on the road again for the first time in what feels like a long time. My wife and I flew to San Diego to attend her company's year-end holiday party. For the first time, I flew with my wheelchair. I got frisked and swabbed lot, but I didn't miss my flights, so it evened out and I made it home in one piece. It was not without hiccups, but we managed to have a pretty good trip overall, and I'm looking forward to traveling again in tyhe future. Booze Only Yankee Swap IV It's Swap Time We came back to town and had the Booze Only Yankee Swap. The next day, we took the kids to see the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra's holiday concert. There's some sound effects in this episode, like a plane taking off and some other stuff, but I tried to keep it to an absolute minimum, I swear. Shout-outs Shout-outs to Empress Nami who wrote in to say, "I listened to WTMWM on my commute in. The ending....so many sound effects! I was laughing so much." Sometimes I'm just communing with Roy, who taught me how to do audio production. Roy always encouraged me to use more sound effects. Hey MOMA, do you have the what's the matter with me? Podcast? Forking Hell They think I only ordered one fork Descended From Royalty I took the kids to eat at Taco Bell and we met a stranger San Diego Trip We flew to San Diego I made a recording just outside the airport terminal At The Company Holiday Party I sat down at the table for the holiday party and it turned out to be the adult table because the CSO sat across the table and the CEO sat down next to me. Which was kind of *gulp*-inducing but they were nice people and they listened to me when I told them how great my wife was. The people at the company have an impressive track record of creating medicines. I saw the lab and it was a big glassed in structure at the core of a long rectangular one story building in San Diego I flew back, and they swabbed and frisked me again. The TSA guy said to clean my brace with rubbing alcohol next time. Our Holiday Party ABV 30%+ Booze Only Yankee Swap 1980s STYLE Someone brought Peach Brandy to the Booze Only Yankee Swap and that created a minor kerfuffle. It was the fourth time we've had this party. GARBLED FLYER The graphic design program spat out this garbled flyer and we can post it here because it doesn't list our address, or anything at all, really- it just says, "in" over and over. Trading Up I put in a bottle of Beefeater gin and I ended up with a bottle of Don Julio tequila. My wife traded a bottle of Cazadores for a bottle of Glenfiddich so it was a pretty good exchange for both of us and we very nearly felt bad about it. Someone brought peach Brandy to the booze only Yankee swap and that created a minor kerfluffle Lebovitz spiced nuts & pretzels were a hit. Next time, spicier The hot dogs San Francisco SymphonyYouth Orchestra Holiday Concert We took the kids to see the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra at Davies Symphony Hall. I used my chair and it was totally lucky that we got a handicap space just two blocks away. But, we hadn't charged the chair. We were there to see Kaito play the violin and we had pretty good seats in the first balcony at stage right. We had a good view looking down over the orchestra, and from our seats you look the conductor in the face as they played.

Over a decade ago, two friends from Essex decided to break off from work and drive down to the Alps. Neither knew much about cycling but the plan was to watch the Tour de France dressed in peaked caps and cravats. Probably best not to ask why. By 2014 when the race came to Yorkshire, they'd moved on to full Beefeater outfits - red jackets, black hats, white gloves, matching shades. They love dancing to europop at the side of the road, and in 2019 they were voted the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) fans of the year. Miles Warde joins the Beefeaters as they load up their shopping trolleys at the bottom of Alpe d'Huez for one of the toughest and hottest stages of this year's race. They are pushing up to Bend 20 where they'll reclaim a little space from a German called Herbert who has been looking after their beer, then set up their generators and loudspeakers and dance for six hours. Unlike other bends on the Alpe - Dutch Corner, Norwegian Corner, Cymru Corner - Beefeater Bend is completely non-national. Everyone is welcome, and everyone comes because everyone loves europop in the blistering sun. "The nicest programme I've made." Miles Warde

Famous for steaks, maroon banquettes, schooners of sherry and sexist advertising, family restaurant chain and ‘70s date night favourite Berni Inn first opened its doors at the historic Bristol pub The Rummer on 27th July, 1956. Founded by Frank and Aldo Berni, the American-inspired concept had a staggeringly simple menu, so that customers wouldn't be intimidated and, more importantly, so that the kitchen could be operated by virtually anyone who could use a grill and a deep-fat fryer. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain how the Berni brothers whipped up excitement for each new restaurant opening; reveal how their much-mocked menu actually introduced millions of patrons to some international staples; and highlight how the modern-day Beefeater pub chain still pays tribute to its Berni beginnings… Further Reading: • ‘Berni Inn Menu, 1973' (RetroWow, 2022): https://www.retrowow.co.uk/food_and_drink/eating_out/berni_inn_menu.html • ‘Obituary: Frank Berni' (The Guardian, 2000): https://www.theguardian.com/news/2000/aug/01/guardianobituaries1 • ‘You're Better Off At A Berni Inn' (Advert, 1982): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVAGsOryJJA For bonus material and to support the show, visit Patreon.com/Retrospectors We'll be back tomorrow! Barker had planned to continue with his education in medicine, however his mother got him on The Clothes Show, for a model search campaign, in which he won and with this he began his career in modeling. For approximately 10 years Barker modeled in New York, Milan, Paris and London. Observing the fashion industry, Barker became engrossed in photography. Barker opened StudioNB, his photo studio in Meat Packing District, Manhattan in 1996. For a decade in front of the camera, Barker decided to be the one holding it. So, he pursued photography and quit modeling. He did photography ad campaigns and other projects for Interview, Town & Country, Ted Baker, Lexus, Nine West, Jordache, Ford, Sony, Pamella Roland, Beefeater, GQ, Cover, Tatler, Seventeen, and Leviev. Gradually, Barker was becoming popular and buyers for his work were increasing in number. A call from Tyra Banks in 2004, opened an opportunity for Nigel Barker to photograph America's Next Top Model. He also became the judge of the show. Following this, he became the judge for Miss America Pageant, 2007 and in 2012 for Miss Universe Pageant.
