Matt Murdock's character page on the Marvel site includes a detailed "On Screen Full Report" of the events experienced by Charlie Cox's hero. Not only does the report detail all three seasons of his Netflix adventures, but it also mentions that "Sometime later, Matt was hired as an attorney to defend Peter Parker." Here's the excerpt of the important part: Soon after, Matt attended the funeral for Father Lantom, where he made peace with Sister Maggie. Now in a better state of mind than he had been in quite a while, Matt fully reconciled with Karen and Foggy and the three of them discussed the idea of reforming their law firm with Karen now as the firm's lead investigator and third partner. Sometime later, Matt was hired as an attorney to defend Peter Parker, as Peter had been publicly outed as Spider-Man and accused of Mysterio's murder. Though Peter was legally cleared of any wrongdoing, Matt warned him he'd still have to face the court of public opinion and advised Harold “Happy” Hogan to hire a good lawyer. As if on cue, a protestor threw a brick through the window of the Parkers' apartment in support of Mysterio. Fortunately, due to his heightened senses, Matt was able to catch the brick before it hurt anyone inside. When Peter asked him how he was able to do that, Matt claimed it was because he was a really good lawyer and left it at that. Marvel's confirmation that Murdock became Peter Parker's lawyer "Sometime later" than the dramatic ending of Daredevil Season 3 appears to indicate Charlie Cox will continue playing the same version of his character, not a Multiversal Variant as many had speculated. DISNEY+ Disney+ Removes Stan Lee Tribute From Marvel Netflix Show https://thedirect.com/article/marvel-stan-lee-tribute-disney-netflix-show A tribute to Stan Lee has been removed from The Punisher's second season finale, which was released in January 2019. The "In Loving Memory of Stan Lee" tribute is now replaced with a prolonged black screen before the credits. The reasoning behind the removal is unknown, but a prevailing theory is that the scene preceding the tribute has Frank Castle gunning down a group of people. Of course, this isn't the confirmed cause of the change—after all, that's how it was when the tribute first aired with the show back in 2019. Oddly enough, the Stan Lee tribute found at the end of Jessica Jones season 3 is still present on Disney+. ‘Star Wars' vs. Marvel: Which Disney+ Shows Are Most-Viewed https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-wars-vs-marvel-which-disney-shows-are-most-viewed-1235122942/ Marvel Leak Spoils Daredevil and Kingpin's Next MCU Appearance https://www.cbr.com/marvel-daredevil-kingpin-mcu-appearance-spoiled-echo/ A new leak seems to spoil the next Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance for Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the death of rapper Tupac Shakur. Whatever you think of him, he left an indelible impact on the world of hip hop. So much so that even dudes like Ron, who aren't particularly into the scene, gravitate towards his fiery lyrics. And without a doubt, ‘Pac's diss track “Hit ‘em up” is one of the most influential and biting that ever was recorded. And it just happens to be Ron's favorite. So it's perhaps no surprise that he and good buddy JD would find this as yet another topic of “discussion.” You see, for JD, there's no diss track as hard and cold blooded Ice Cube's “No Vaseline” Note: in this version of the phrase “cold blooded,” JD does not mean “fine” or “beautiful” (you had to listen to episode 2 to get that reference.

What if you were like the Black kid from Stranger Things, and you grew up knowing everything about comic books, and Dungeons and Dragons but you had to drive half an hour out of town to get a haircut? Cheo Coker grew up in Storrs, Connecticut playing with multi-colored dice and reading J.R.R. Tolkien. But then after covering music while at Stanford University he found himself right at home in another world, one that better matched with his outsides: Hip-Hop So what would you do if you could speak the language of two cultures and felt perfectly comfortable in both? Would you pick a side and stay in one lane? Or would you become the only one in the room translating Black culture for white people? The star, who portrayed Jackie Robinson in 42 and James Brown in Get on Up before being cast as Wakandan prince-turned-King T'Challa in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, became the first Black actor to lead a solo Marvel Studios movie when reprising his role in the Ryan Coogler-directed Black Panther. This week we take on the classic vampire/superhero/martial arts (what even is it?) film, BLADE (1998). After some glowing reviews, we talk about subcultures in the 90s, before getting onto liminality, race, class, and the various oppressed groups explored in a vampire movie like this. Next Time Our next film is the — culturally undoubtedly important, but cinematically maybe questionable (we keep fairly open minds) — behemoth that is TWILIGHT (2008). Recent Media CAMP WEDDING (2019): Greg Emetaz, Kelley Gates, Sean Hankinson JACK WHITEHALL: TRAVELS WITH MY FATHER (S2-3, 2018-19): Jack Whitehall, Michael Whitehall Recommendations THE TAO OF STEVE (2000): Jenniphr Goodman, Donal Logue, Greer Goodman IRON SKY (2012): Timo Vuorensola, Julia Dietske, Christopher Kirby LUKE CAGE (2016-18): Cheo Hodari Coker, Mike Colter, Simone Missick THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN (graphic novel, 1999–2019): Alan Moore, Kevin O'Neill, Bill Oakley Footnotes Firstly, this is pretty good on various on-screen subcultures, with quite a lot on the 1990s: http://artsandculture.google.com/exhibit/HAKSqLV0xnOIKQ. On Luke Cage, the Marvel series on Netflix, music is almost everything. “I’m a hip-hop showrunner,” says showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker. “It just permeates every decision we make on the show because we’re not just making decisions about plot. The whole thing has to feel a certain way.” If the first season of Luke Cage introduced the Marvel universe to hip-hop, the second season expands the musical education across the entire spectrum of African American music, Coker says. Episodes in this season will feature jazz, reggae, R&B, and neo soul music, with a mix of old and new releases. “We’re just showing how it’s like Harlem itself,” Coker says. “When you’re walking down the street, when you’re walking down Lenox Avenue, you will hear all different types of music coming out of cars or coming out of store windows or coming out apartments. And we have that same approach, the same eclectic approach to music on the show.” Because music is so integral to Luke Cage, we asked Coker to break down exactly how music is used in a few scenes in the first episode of the brand new second season, which is available now on Netflix.
This week sees the conclusion of the ALIEN franchise. We discuss its shortcomings — clunky storyline, overzealous editing, Sigourney Weaver as an actor/producer — but then we get stuck into what makes this film really interesting: from French philosophy to cinematographic trickery. Maraiah acaba matando a Cotton e intenta culpar a Luke. This week, we conclude our focus on the Matrix franchise with the Wachowskis' 2003 conclusion to the trilogy. Covering what Sam mentions at the start of the episode, the website involving changed movie names and funny cartoons is here and the Jackie Chan video is here. The latter is well worth a watch for anyone interested in fight choreography, or even just in acting/directing more generally. Read more on ‘temet nosce' here. Finally, the reference to the blinding of Neo opening up a whole world of allusion to Greek mythology is best explained by this. (And there's the sex-changing aspect of this character, which is a whole different kettle of fish…but this episode was long enough without that particular rabbit hole! One last MATRIX reference for you, there.)

To understand the impact of Greg Tate, one need only consult the words of fellow critic Michael Gonzales, who on the occasion of Tate's 50th birthday wrote: "For better or worse, if it were not for Greg Tate, there would be no Bonz Malone, Harry Allen, Joan Morgan, Kris Ex, Scott Poulson Bryant, Toure, Danyel Smith, Michael Eric Dyson, Karen R. Goode, Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, Smokey Fontaine, Jon Caramanica, Jeff Chang, Amy Linden, Tom Terrell, Mark Anthony Neal, Tricia Rose, Sasha Jenkins, DJ Spooky (aka Paul Miller), Dream Hampton, Miles Marshall Lewis, Aliya King, SekouWrites, Kenji Jasper, Oliver Wang, Cheo Hodari Coker, Keith Murphy or myself." Gonzales offers high praise for one of the singular critical voices of the last 30 years. The author of several books including the classic Flyboy in the Buttermilk: Essays on Contemporary America (1993) and the edited volume Everything But the Burden: What White People Are Taking From Black Culture (2003), Greg Tate joins Left of Black host Mark Anthony Neal (via Skype) in a rousing discussion of Black Science Fiction, being a "gourmand" of Black Culture and the significance of the late musical conductor Butch Morris. Tate is the longtime conductor of Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber, a former Village Voice Staff Writer and currently Visiting Professor of Africana Studies at Brown University. Duke University Press will publish Flyboy 2: The Greg Tate Reader next year.
