In this podcast we will dive into the nightmares of healthcare professionals who bestow their knowledge of medicine against us when we are most vulnerable and commit murder. We are not healthcare professionals, we are just fans of true crime.

Are you a fan of NCIS? Our guest this week worked in a crime lab before she became a recruiter. Not only does she share some of her experiences with us, but we also talk shop about this week's haunted asylum – Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. It eventually became known as Weston State Hospital, but a more appealing name cannot cover up what happened inside those walls. Get to know Travel Nurse Recruiter Stacy Paschoal -> https://atlasmedstaff.com/atlas-team/stacy-paschoal/
Do you believe in hauntings or do you have to see it to believe it? Do you believe in hauntings or do you have to see it to believe it? October really snuck up on us, but we have prepared a new series of haunted hospitals and asylums in honor of the Halloween season! Utica State Hospital is a massive facility still standing in Utica, New York. It was one of the first "lunatic asylums" in the state and possibly the US having opened in 1843. Utica State Hospital is known for being haunted (obviously) as well as the home of the infamous utica bed. We also chat about some local, Iowa folklore of the Black Angel. Cheers! Get to know more about Mick White: https://atlasmedstaff.com/atlas-team/mick-white/
WARNING! Bobby Joe Long's crimes may be the most triggering crimes we have had on the show. Before listening, we suggest you look up Bobby Joe Long's crimes before proceeding. We don't go super deep into the details on any of his crimes, but still, this episode may not be for you. Never do what Bobby Joe Long did. Please.
On this 50th episode of "Healthcare Horrors," we have a guest, Cassidy Pospisil, who is one of our Training and Development specialists here at Atlas. We let her pick the person we talked about. Her choice? Petr Zalenka Pronounced "PET-rrr" not "Peter." Towards the middle of the episode we also give an update on Lucy Letby and her finished trial. If you haven't heard our first episode about Lucy Letby, go listen to that episode before you listen to this one. Her story will make your bones shake. If you have been here awhile, stick around to the end of the podcast, where we discuss, after releasing 50 episodes of this podcast, which ones were our favorite stories to tell. Stay safe and stay healthy, y'all!

No. Not the president John Adams. John BODKIN Adams. The evil healthcare guy. What did he do? Listen here!
Join us as we uncover the dark and disturbing tale of John Dale Caveness, a seemingly ordinary healthcare professional whose life took a sinister turn.
One of the biggest things we have learned from the last 45 episodes of our "Healthcare Horrors" podcast, is that if you are joking about something, there is probably some truth to the joke. This is the case with many of the Healthcare Horrors we discuss. This is especially true when it comes to Efren Saldivar's case. If speculations are true, he could be one of the biggest murderers in healthcare. This is the story of Efren Saldivar's victims.
James Marion Sims A.K.A. "The Grandfather of Gynecology." But... is he really? Tune into this episode of Healthcare Horrors to hear about the horrors of James Marion Sims. Instead of "The Grandfather of Gynecology," some would rather call him "The Josef Mengele of Gynecology." WARNING - This episode touches the topics of Racism, the deaths of infants, and the extreme details of the experiments Sims would perform on the vaginal area of his victims.
WARNING! This one involves the deaths/murders of infants. If this is a touchy subject, then this episode is not for you. Let's just say this Japanese Midwife felt that there was nothing else she could do, but to leave hundreds of infants to die. Some believe she had a choice, some feel bad for the things she claims she "HAD" to do.
We aren't foolin' around when it comes to the horrors of Nurse Mildred Ratched. On this episode, the spooky gang has once again invited recruiter Eric Stapp on as a guest. Meet Eric Here: https://atlasmedstaff.com/atlas-team/eric-stapp/
Have you ever dreamed of being a hero? If so, we suggest you learn from Richard Angelo and don't bring your patients to a near death situation and then "save their lives" right at the last minute. Richard Angelo did this and the worst part is, he wasn't successful on most of his attempts. Luckily, one of the survivors was well aware of what happened, and turned him in. Tun into this episode of Healthcare Horrors to hear all about it.
You aren't fond of the elderly, so you decide to become an RN and work in a retirement home? Yeah... It doesn't make sense to us either. For Arnfinn, it was just bad decision after bad decision, that ultimately landed him 21 years in prison. ONLY 21 YEARS! Listen to this episode of Healthcare Horrors episode, and let us know if it was well deserved or too short of a sentence. He's convicted of 22 murders; We think the latter.
Jack the Ripper will forever be one of the world's greatest mysteries. There is a lot of speculation that he (or she) was a doctor or medical professional in some degree. There were the brutal murders of the Canonical Five and possibly many more, unless there were copycat killers. We dive into the history of White Chapel, the murders, the theories, movies, and even some snowboarding tips with travel nurse recruiter, Eric Stapp.
Gambling and filing for life insurance is a pretty quick way to get money. PROBLEM! The only way to file for life insurance is... well... Considering this is a podcast about Healthcare's darkest moments, I think we can all take a wild guess on what was going on here and how so many life insurance policies were taken out by 1 person. Listen to find out why William Palmer is this week's "Healthcare Horror."
This Healthcare Horror? Baby Farming. The perpetrator? Amelia Dyer. If you can't stomach the murders and crimes against infants, then this episode is definitely not for you. We agree, Amelia Dyer is pure evil, and should have never been cleared to work in healthcare.
Shiro Ishii, a Japanese microbiologist and army medical officer, served as a director of a biological warfare unit for the Imperial Japanese Army and is responsible for over an estimated 10,000 deaths from 1937-1945. How? Biological Warfare.

Who's watched "The Good Nurse" on Netflix? Did you know that it's based on a true story? On this episode of Healthcare Horrors, we talk all about Charles Cullen. Who, most definitely, is NOT a good nurse.
This one is recent! As the case unfolds we will follow the alleged murders of Lucy Letby. Letby is a neonatal nurse in the UK who is currently on trial for the murder of 7 babies and attempted murder of 10 more. This day and age you think there would be more screenings for mental health in this kind of industry, but you just never know who is capable of such tragic things.
Alicia keeps us on track today as we chat about Danvers State Hospital. This is the last installment of our haunted hospitals/asylums for October and travel nurse recruiter, Erica Bradford is our guest! This facility was started with all of the best intentions and implementations for patient success. After being denied state funding, the facility quickly became overcrowded and macabre treatments such as insulin induced coma therapy and straight jackets plummeted its success. Part of this "lunatic asylum" still stands as apartments and the residents respect the ghostly history.
Not all ghosts are bad. In 1827 the "inmates" were taken to the Genesee County Poor House against their will and created their own community. Over 1,700 people died on the property, but it sounds like they don't hate their forever home. Would you visit?
This week on Healthcare Horrors, Recruiter Jasmin Trueba joins us as we talk about the haunted Waverly Hills Sanatorium. Jasmin also tells us about her own haunting story. Stay tuned for all the spooky stories this month! There will be one every week this month. :)

Pennhurst is no longer open (thank goodness) and is one of the most haunted destinations in the US. Would you visit?
Episode 25 Achievement Unlocked! Today, we are doing the things with Aaron Biddle, Atlas MedStaff's Director of Training, who is remoting in to talk about Dr. Jack Kevorkian. At the beginning of his career, Jack was not afraid to question things taboo, grim, or "icky" in the medical field. His caring, yet outlandish way of thinking led to his interest in physician assisted suicide and the creation of his death machines. Was his way of thinking that far off? Was he a murderer? If your quality of life is declining, is seeking a doctor's help to end your life terrible?
Operation Flytox is in full effect! In today's episode of Healthcare Horrors we welcome one of Atlas MedStaff's star recruiters, Elyse Woods. At a very young age he was a trouble maker that under went psychic evaluation and was diagnosed mentally unstable. After serving in WWI he was able to get his medical degree through an accelerated medical program which opened the door to more schemes and murder. Then during WWII he started Operation Flytox. Was he a member of the French Resistance and killing the German enemies or was he just taking advantage of France's turmoil to commit murder?
Welcome to Healthcare Horrors! On special today: a cheeseburger with a side of arsenic. Mmmm! Donald Harvey never felt like he was in control of his life. Harvey was a hospital orderly/nursing assistant who eventually adopted a Neo-Nazi, German alias and was into the occult.

Take a listen and hear it for yourself.
