Welcome to the Mom*Bits Podcast, where Ayanda tackles the big things that makeup motherhood in small bits and pieces every week Mondays at 10am.
It's SZN 3 y'all and we are going to get right into it! Welcome to the Mom Bits Podcast. Today we are continuing our chat about anti-racism parenting and something we all could do better with….our language. What we say when we converse with our children and how that can subtly/unconsciously get ingrained in their minds. I know saying or agreeing with the statement that cops only catch bad buys comes from an innocent place but think of the people who are automatically added in, people suffering from a Mental Illness, Homeless people, Those who are stealing food for their families because that's the only way they can afford it, etc. Police intervene when people do bad things. They are not all bad people. Especially when minorities are over represented but are forced to live in food deserts, low-income areas with a low chance to make it out of tough neighborhoods. Either way, let's talk about it!!—Social Media:@dailymombitswww.dailymombits.wordpress.com—Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mombits)

Whether that's in the form of someone offering a listening ear or a meal. * Seek a counsellor or therapist. Hello there! On today's episode, join me, your host Ayanda Silk, as I discuss the second episode of this series. We started with "why saying 'you're okay' is not okay". Today, we discuss why saying "give so and so a hug" is not okay. Our kids are their own people. They have boundaries too. If they don't want to give grandma or auntie or uncle or grandpa or their cousins, that's okay. It doesn't help us to teach our kids about setting boundaries only for us to drag them past their limit to appease family members. Let's start respecting our kids' boundaries. When they say no to a hug. We NEED to respect that.
