    In this episode, Dr. Ilan Green sits down with Rob Schimony who is a PGA teaching professional from Lansdale, Pennsylvania and he is in his third season as an instructor at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown.We got to discuss a lot of interesting topics that I think will be really beneficial for our listeners who are golfers, or those who work with golfers. Rob shared his “ground up” approach to working with golfers, tips for posture, stance, and other pre-swing fundamentals, and we dove into performance aspects such as applications of the kinematic sequence, hip/torso separation and common faults in footwork that lead to breakdowns up the kinetic chain.I had a lot of fun chatting with him, so I hope you enjoy the episode! Jerry shares a bit about his background starting out as a mediocre athlete to becoming an NCAA All-American sprinter, including some unforeseen training approaches that helped him tie together his movement patterns, as well as the road that led him to become a personal trainer.Jerry also shares his perspective on “keeping good company”, avoiding burnout, how he maintains his positive mindset and how that approach helps to define the environment in his training studio, how to meet people where they are, how to stay grounded as a person when giving so much to others, and how his perspective has shifted on fitness from the times of being an athlete to training people of all walks of life.One thing you'll notice in this episode is the infectiousness of Jerry's laugh, which made this podcast an absolute joy to record. He started personal training in 2006 at Platoon Fitness in Bryn Mawr, PA and trained at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Bala Cynwyd for a decade in addition to working as a middle school counselor at Roberto Clemente in North Philly. He later continued his athletic pursuits by becoming a world natural powerlifting champion (with a 185lb powercurl) in 2012 and competed on American Ninja Warrior in 2015. Today, he trains his clients ranging from youth to senior athletes of all kinds including racket sports, ice hockey, and track and field.
