Andy is back in the states and begins this episode by telling Brendan! about his time at Oakmont for U.S. Open media day. The two share their excitement for next month's tournament and dig into some setup talk about green speeds and the membership requesting the winning score be over par. From there, it's a big week on the PGA Tour as the inaugural Truist Championship takes place at Philadelphia Cricket Club, a Golden Age design. Andy and Brendan debate whether this course will be long enough to test the pros and lament that a week of wet weather in the northeast may lead to low scores on the 7,100-yard track. One-and-done picks are made for the big purse at stake with a limited field tuning up for the PGA Championship. Elsewhere, the alternate field event in Myrtle Beach has a stronger-than-usual field, headlined by Tom Kim. There's some Creator Classic chatter ahead of the new team-style event on Wednesday, with Andy wondering where Fat Perez's game is at these days. In news, ratings are out for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and LIV Korea, and the U.S. Ryder Cup contingent (minus one big name) allegedly met for dinner in Philly on Tuesday night.
This week Geoff Shackelford and Lawrence Donegan take at explaining the apparent comeback by the PGA Tour - terrific TV ratings, and the continuing descent of LIV into golfing irrelevance - and conclude it's all down to the Rory bounce. There also a look ahead to this week's event at Philadelphia Cricket Club , the weird DPWT event just announced at Trump International in Scotland. Who is paying for that? Not Donald, we bet. Finally, Donegan has a rant about the British government's disgraceful behaviour in trying to force the R&A to stage the 2028 Open at Turnberry in order to stay in Trump's good books.
On this today's episode, Damon and Eamon break down the Truist Championship — the sixth of eight signature events on the 2025 PGA Tour — taking place at the historic Philadelphia Cricket Club while Quail Hollow gears up for next week's PGA Championship. They catch up with past champions Max Homa and Lucas Glover to reflect on their victories and current form. Plus, big news from the PGA of America: the Ryder Cup is headed to Bethpage Black this September, and in celebration, they've launched The People's Perk — a ticket giveaway exclusively for New York residents. Over the next five months, 3,000 complimentary tickets will be given out through surprise events across Long Island and NYC-area public golf courses, with 500 tickets available each day from Tuesday through Sunday during Ryder Cup week. Will Doctor brings you the sharpest golf picks and information for this weeks Zurich Classic and Chevron Championship. Will Doctor's Golf Preview Podcast, recorded from the Nicholas Course at Carlton Woods, dives deep into betting picks and performance analysis for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the Chevron Championship, and briefly, the Veritex Bank Championship. Opening with a recap of the RBC Heritage, Doctor praises Justin Thomas for winning his 16th PGA Tour title after a playoff with Andrew Novak. Thomas posted a 61 in round one and closed with a bogey-free 68. Novak, described as the American Jon Rahm, impressed with elite short game and iron play, though he missed key putts, notably a 10-footer on the 13th. Doctor criticizes himself for failing to include Novak in his bets, noting Novak's three final group appearances and five top-15 finishes in 2025. The podcast reflects on several betting losses, including missing JT's surge and Novak's rise. The card was down 6.7 units, adding to an overall deficit of 81.2 units for the season. Scottie Scheffler's T8 finish was dissected, focusing on a critical double bogey on 15 caused by a tricky lie in the waste area. Despite superb ball-striking, putting lapses limited his contention. Daniel Berger's T3 finish came with elite ball-striking but poor putting early in the week. Other near-miss bets included JT Poston (T11), Sungjae Im losing the top Asian bet to Siwoo Kim, and Ryan Gerard's bogey on 18, which destroyed a top 20 ticket. Garrick Higgo's win at Corrales Punta Cana, his second PGA Tour victory, was a notable miss for Will, who lamented overlooking Higgo despite strong form in previous starts. For the Zurich Classic, two outright bets are offered. Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin at 28/1 are highlighted for elite ball-striking and top-tier putting. Griffin's form shows recent putting struggles, but his strong Bermuda putting history is encouraging. Billy Horschel and Tom Hoge, also at 28/1, are touted for their pairing of elite putting and solid recent results. Horschel's Zurich history includes two wins and a second-place finish, while Hoge has four straight T18 finishes with resurgent driving accuracy. A top 20 bet on Nico Echavarria and Max Greyserman at +130 is based on their elite Bermuda putting and last year's T4 result. Their recent ball-striking is a concern, but their putting could carry them into the top 20 if they strike it average. Doctor explores other pairings but passes on Carl Yuan and Michael Thorbjornsen due to inconsistency and on Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo due to Velo's below-average stats. At the Chevron Championship, hosted again at the Nicholas Course, the course demands power and precision, favoring long hitters due to tight driving lanes and potentially soft greens. Nelly Korda is picked to win at 9/1. She won here in 2024 and continues to be elite across all metrics, especially improving putting. Ingrid Lindblad is the value pick, taken at 70/1 to win and 4/1 to finish top 10. She recently won in just her third LPGA start and ranks high in driving, approach, and putting stats, although her short game remains untested at this venue. Finally, Doctor previews his visit to the Veritex Bank Championship, with plans to gather insights on-site and update picks via social media. He teases future episodes from the Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch and the Truest Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club. The podcast closes with a promo code for picks at pregame.com and a strong focus on preparing for the upcoming stretch of the season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On this episode of Club + Resort Talks, Senior Editor Phil Keren interviews Rich Wade, Director of Squash and Padel at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, about the club's padel offerings. Wade gives a primer on padel, discusses why the club decided to offer the sport, and reviews the padel programs and leagues that are available. Phil and Editor-In-Chief Rob Thomas also reviewed news stories happening with clubs in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia, North Carolina, and New York. The market for golf courses is experiencing a significant upswing, as seen in the recent listings and sales of properties that are in different stages of development and ownership. Rob and Phil examined two examples that highlight this trend: the Hershey's Mill Golf Club in Chester County, Pa., listed for $9.9 million, and the Candlewood Valley Country Club in New Milford, Conn., sold for $2.5 million. Phil and Rob also highlighted the improvements to the fairways, greens and bunkers at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga. in a restoration that was led by designer Andrew Green. The reopening of the course coincided with the club hosting the TOUR Championship. Rob and Phil also looked at two new amenities being offered at Lake Toxaway Country Club, a private club in western North Carolina — a stand-alone Golf Academy (in addition to their Tom Fazio Learning Center) and The Nest, which includes a climbing wall. The all-new Golf Academy, located at the Tom Fazio Learning Center, opened in May and is a full-service, comprehensive player development program with swing analysis, custom golf club fitting services, training programs, and golf instruction with the club's PGA professionals. Phil and Rob spotlighted Glens Falls Country Club's plans to add two outdoor paddleball courts to their existing three. The club in Queensbury, N.Y. earlier this year added six pickleball courts and is renovating the tee boxes, fairways, and greens on the golf course.
From robot mowers to education and leadership, Dan Meersman is a pioneer in the golf course maintenance industry. In our latest episode, we caught up with the third-generation superintendent to discuss how his role has evolved at The Philadelphia Cricket Club and the fleet of robots he has helping him maintain three golf courses and various other turf areas around the facility. He's been very happy with his robot mowers so far and sees even more promise on the horizon.
In its June issue, Club + Resort Business released its annual rankings of the top racquet facilities. The racquet facilities at The Philadelphia Cricket Club in Philadelphia, Pa. earned the No. 1 ranking in C+RB's recognition program. In this episode of Club + Resort Talks, C+RB Senior Editor Phil Keren spoke with Boris Fetbroyt, the club's Director of Racquets, Rich Wade, the club's Director of Squash and Padel, and Lila Smith, the club's Director of Communications, to learn more about The Philadelphia Cricket Club. The trio discussed what it meant to them to receive the honor, how important the member experience is to the club, and what they do to keep members engaged and interacting with one another. In addition to an informative discussion with Fetbroyt, Wade and Smith, Phil also spoke with Club + Resort Business Editor Rob Thomas about some of the latest news stories happening in the industry. Phil and Rob discussed the story which grabbed headlines throughout the world this week: the PGA Tour, LIV Golf Tour and DP World Tour are planning to join forces in a partnership under a separate commercial entity. Phil and Rob shared their thoughts about this new deal and touched on how it might affect the club industry.
