Let's take a step back for a few moments and soak in some summertime.Links from a few of the things talked about in this podcast - Eddie Cochran "Summertime Blues"Will Smith "Summertime"Def Leppard "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad""The Office" TPS ReportsSchwan's Food DeliveryGrape Faygo SodaFile-A-Fax Data PlannerSpike Lee Joint - "Do The Right Thing"watch "Gymkata"watch Greasewatch Major LeagueA few of the issues I address in this episode - Do you recall Summertime?Taking a break and looking backFond memories of days gone bySummertime ChallengeOn...Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Tik-TokListen - Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Deezer
Been "B.U.S.Y." lately? Too "busy" to take a break? Take a load off? I am guessing like myself and many others you probably are a high achieving list-crossing get-it-done type of beast, and sometimes, like EVERYONE...we should take a break - set down our To-Do lists and realize that if we don't get everything done...life seems to continue. Perhaps if we took a much-needed break, we could then finish our lists in fine style with fewer mistakes, and thus requiring less of our time and we could actually enjoy the day. In this episode I discuss a few key tips in setting go, and prioritizing rest along with the many physical health benefits, you will find some mental health benefits as well when you not just begin...but finish the week with some good self-health care.Links from a few of the things talked about in this podcast - A few of the issues I address in this episode - Being too busythe acronym: "B.U.S.Y."Working through the mental blocks which prohibit us from giving ourselves permission to take a breakOn...Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Tik-TokListen - Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Deezer
Over the past year and a half, or so...or perhaps even more, it has become increasingly difficult to put the right things into perspective and, speaking for myself and many others whom testimonies I have heard first hand as they describe the problems in their life, which sometimes appear to be more of molehills than mountains...our focus could use a little more elevation - like for example - a September 12th type elevation when we assembled together as a nation with singular focus and many other insignificant problems seemed to fall by the wayside in light of an ever present enemy and we bonded together, our neighbors became friends, our differences were overshadowed by our concern for our fellow countrymen and I remember it felling like we were together in concert, in song, almost like a United States. That was many years ago and it is ever so evident that division has crept its way into the fabric of our society as we fall prey to or invent new ways to divide us as family, as neighbors, and as a country. May I offer some encouragement into a different direction?Links from a few of the things talked about in this podcast - Lone SurvivorThe SandlotAmerican SniperA few of the issues I address in this episode - Division4th of JulyUniteShifting our FocusOn...Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Tik-TokListen - Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Deezer
We have had plenty about which we could mourn and weep over the past year and a half, and it can sometimes be rather challenging to celebrate something, anything...after what we have all just been through - like...the year 2020. I simply wanted to encourage you for a couple of minutes to find something to celebrate, and do so in spectacular fashion. Hopefully, i do just that in this episode of Prioritize! Enjoy. And if you do like it, can I also ask you to Rate this podcast and review it on Apple or whatever platform you enjoy listening to podcasts? That very simple act will help others just like you be able to find this podcast. Thanks for helping them! And thanks for helping me! It is never easy to balance work, home, and personal life. In this episode I discuss bringing your kids along with you in part of your life - inviting them into your world to make something together, build something together, and being intentional about investing into them the life lessons that you have learned along your journey. Perhaps you could teach them a thing or two about your work, or your job/task/to do list, and speak life into them about what they may be able to expect along their life. Father's Day is right around the corner. A time reserved to recognize Dad for all the hard work and sacrifice he has done to protect his kingdom and provide for his family. Not everyone gets to be called "Dad" as that is a title reserved for those special men who step up to the plate investing into their children and loving their wife as Christ loved the church which shows a fantastic picture for their sons just how a man is to treat his bride. Dads certainly aren't perfect, but we do what we can do, when we can do it. Here in this episode I share a few thoughts on Father's Day, serving my family, and what it means to be a Dad. I also share one of my favorite stories of our eldest growing up.Links from a few of the things talked about in this podcast - Gift ideas for Dad's BeardGift ideas for Dad's BourbonA few of the issues I address in this episode - DadSpending time with DadInvesting into your childrenOne of my favorite stories of our eldest sonOn...Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Tik-TokListen - Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Deezer
You guys got some graduates out there? Gotta pickup some grad cards and some cash form the ATM in celebration of a culmination of years of parenting and hard work. Parents, grandparents, extended family will be coming in from all over to help celebrate a very joyous occasion, that of your child crossing the stage and collecting a degree/diploma/MBA for which they have worked and strived so hardcore years on end. Today we discuss a few feelings about such things and an upcoming party for one of our own kids, our last in fact, is about to cross the stage and it's never an easy thing to hug your grad goodbye, but this was our youngest and last son, so perhaps a little more difficult. We talk a little about the many things it took to get there, the expectations from Dad during the process, and what may come out of the whole thing. Join us in lamenting over the void, but cheering on our son in this episode.Links from a few of the things talked about in this podcast - EspressoA few of the issues I address in this episode - Life after High School45 years old people who don't yet know exactly what they want to do when they grow upWhat happens if our kids don't want to go to college? Is it ok to do something instead of college? The Greatest ShowmanChristmas StoryAlice in WonderlandOn...Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Tik-TokListen - Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Deezer
Graduation season is upon us. This caused a time of pause and reflection for me as I looked back on several fond memories with just him and I as well as things we all did together as a family. It hurts to let go, and it is ever so important to do so. I lament just a little bitten this episode about the angst as a Dad recalling the many cool things we did together with my now-graduate and the ending of this chapter with the beginning of the next. If you are going through the same thing...know that you are not alone. Mother's Day is here, or nearly here...are you ready? Prepared? Got your things together? How do you celebrate Mom on her special day? (as if she only has one) I have 2 special ladies in my life, firstly is my Wife, and then Mom. I discuss a few of the many qualities (probably too many to mention in one episode) concerning both ladies in my life. There must be many things going on in your life from your work/business, house/home work, lawn work, side hustle, kids, maybe college...and one day out of the year is wholly or supposedly wholly devoted to Mom. My hope is that you are fully prepared, and if not...you are welcome to steal a few ideas from this episode, or steal the words and apply them to your own essay if you wish. That thing which we gentlemen look forward to and yet freak out, cringe, and break out into convulsions, panic attacks and a cold sweat at the thought of being rejected once we stick our necks out and "pop the question". There seems to be a great deal of pressure surrounding the vary act of the proposal, where it takes place, at what time of the day, and how expensive was the rock? These are all items I discuss and to a greater benefit debunk in today's episode of Prioritize. The world places all this emphasis on the wrong things, the superficial things, rather than the eternal. Just thinking about it...ooohhhh-yesss, paleeze! Just the word itself'f elicits an exotic array of emotions in Italian fashion not unlike that of visions of coffee houses dancing in my head. In this episode, we might as well call this story time as I share a little bit about how I came to the knowledge of the magic of Nespresso and all its witchcraft of one-button hits of that dark, rich gold we have all come to know and like as the go-to for our morning, afternoon, and evening fix. Have you ever heard of this word? Phrase? Zig Ziglar-ism? Life throws some pretty tough stuff our way on a daily basis..dare I say hourly basis, and sometimes I just feel like quitting. Quitting the job, the diet, the podcast, the vision, the debt-free journey, quitting trying to quit smoking, quitting this "thing" that we're trying to do because it gets really challenging. Ever feel like you just want to pack up your bags and call it a day? The goals you wrote down, committed to, told everyone about back in January? Still got 'em? Or like many including myself...have you given up on some or all by now? What do you recall doing with your Dad when you were little? Little league? Basketball? Soccer? Throwing the frisbee in the backyard for an hour or so? I have some fond memories of time spent with my Dad when he closed down his work and purposefully spent time with me. It's one thing for us to say we're gonna spend more time with our son, or take our daughter out for a date...it's a whole other thing for us to actually prioritize the action over the words and intentionally spend time with our family members. No one ever said it would be easy, but everyone says it is totally worth it.
