As we gear up for Memorial Day weekend, the sizzling sound of grills is about to fill the air, and boy, do we have some juicy BBQ tips to share! First off, let's chat about the often neglected task of cleaning our grills. I mean, come on, it's been sitting there all winter, probably gathering more dust than a forgotten sock under the bed. I'm here to tell you that giving your grill a solid clean is not just a chore; it's a rite of passage into grilling season! We dive into some nifty tricks, like using aluminum foil to line the catch basin of your gas grill. Who knew that a simple kitchen staple could simplify your BBQ game? Plus, I share my secret weapon: digital meat thermometers. These handy gadgets are like the GPS for your meat; they help you navigate the tricky terrain of cooking times and temperatures. Let's face it, nobody wants to serve up a piece of chicken that could double as a hockey puck! But wait, it's not just about grilling! We also tackle a serious topic regarding a recall on Generac pressure washers. Yep, you heard that right! Those seemingly harmless machines can start on their own, and if you happen to leave them in your garage, well, let's just say that it could turn into a carbon monoxide nightmare. We're talking serious danger here, folks! I urge everyone to check if you own one of these bad boys and, if so, to stop using it and get it fixed. Safety first, right? So, as we prep for an epic BBQ weekend, remember to keep safety in mind alongside those delectable ribs and burgers!Takeaways:Memorial Day weekend is the perfect time to clean up your BBQ and get it ready for some serious grilling fun, but don't go overboard—just enough to make it shine!A digital meat thermometer is an absolute game-changer for barbecuing, ensuring perfectly cooked meats without the guesswork, because nobody wants to bite into a dry chicken breast!Generac's pressure washer recall is no joke; if you own one, stop using it immediately to avoid a serious carbon monoxide hazard lurking in your garage. If you're using a pellet grill, remember to keep those pellets dry and clean out the hopper—because a gummed-up grill is a sad grill! When firing up the BBQ, whether it's gas or charcoal, make sure it's clean to prevent grease fires, and always monitor the cooking to avoid any mishaps. If you're snagging a Blackstone grill, prepare for an afternoon of seasoning before you can jump into cooking—it's not a quick fix, but totally worth it!Companies mentioned in this episode:Generac Power SystemsDollar TreeBlackstoneWalmartTraegerZwilling J A HenckelsThanks for listening to Around the house if you want to hear more please subscribe so you get notified of the latest episode as it posts at https://around-the-house-with-e.captivate.fm/listenIf you want to join the Around the House Insider for access to the back catalog, Exclusive Content and a direct email to Eric G and access to the show early https://around-the-house-with-e.captivate.fm/support We love comments and we would love reviews on how this information has helped you on your house! For the real enthusiasts... the Superhero tier gets you both pub albums mailed to you on actual physical CDs. The only way to own them. Pressed and shipped to your door. Seasons that came and went like they always had. Those songs were written by people who assumed the world would look the same forever. It won't. Not if we don't pay attention. I travel a lot. I play music in fields and forests and festivals. And I notice things. Things that weren't there ten years ago. Things that are gone that used to be. The old songs are worth saving. So is the world they were written about. Climate action isn't political to me. It's personal. It's about keeping the world worth singing about. Vote like the world depends on it. Because it does. Talk 8 of our COME and SEE Feast Series on the Gospel of John presents a macro view of John 13 to 17, where three events happen: (1) Foot-washing; (2) Betrayal; and (3) Last Speech. And all three events happen in one place—the Upper Room. In the three events, Jesus talks about the hour to come. (John 13:1a NABre) This hour is what the seven miracles of Jesus, called the signs, are pointing to. Jesus is about to do His greatest act, His ultimate expression of love, His total self-giving. Jesus will do everything to love you. And He did. He poured His 100%. Nothing was left. He gave His all to you The key message is: Jesus loves you to the very end.

7.1 In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it. 2 When the house of David was told, “Syria is in league with Ephraim,” the heart of Ahaz and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.3 And the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Washer's Field. 4 And say to him, ‘Be careful, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah. 5 Because Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying, 6 “Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” 7 thus says the Lord God:“‘It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass.8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. And within sixty-five years Ephraim will be shattered from being a people.9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.'”10 Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz: 11 “Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.” 13 And he said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 15 He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. 17 The Lord will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—the king of Assyria!”

This episode of The Lives of Writers is a recast of another podcast, Reading around the Margins. Normally, in each episode of Reading Around the Margins, host Naomi Washer talks with writers, readers, translators, publishers, and booksellers about how they interact with their books as objects; how their own marginalia consciously or unconsciously informs the books they come to write; and how the experience of reading brings a book into existence. In episode 9 of Reading around the Margins, LoW host and Autofocus Books publisher Michael Wheaton interviews Naomi Washer about her new book MARGINALIA: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY, which inspired her podcast (and is out now from Autofocus Books). You can also listen to this episode, of course, straight from the source in the Reading around the Margins feed.

On this episode of The Adam Carolla Show, Adam kicks things off with the simple joy of power washing before diving into a broader conversation about how cultures can be judged by how they treat women. He revisits the aftermath of the Southern California wildfires, highlighting the glaring lack of rebuilding progress six months later. Adam also shares his harsh review of the new Jurassic Park movie, then shifts gears to rant about George Michael's take on monogamy. He reflects on the story of Def Leppard's one-armed drummer, explores the wild persona of David Lee Roth, and reacts to a hilarious video of a man getting attacked by a squirrel—using it as yet another opportunity to pitch his idea for attack crows. In the news, the UFC will possibly have an event at the White House as part of America's 250th birthday celebration. Elon Musk announces the formation of a new political party, the America Party, following his break with Donald Trump.
