Listeners of Renovating U that love the show mention:Hello again Renovators, thanks for joining with us again! We're back after our short break, thanks so much for checking in with us! A fusebox is one of the integral parts of our home but if it gets out of control or is improperly installed, it can quickly become a nuisance and even a danger. Our anger is a lot like that and in today's podcast, we do do our best to unpack this often high voltage emotion.
Hello again renovators! We are back with another episode in our emotional house series. So far we've talked about the front of the house, which is probably the most visible part of us. However what about the stuff hidden beneath the house, even below the basement levels? In today's podcast, we'll be discussing foundations and everything found within them. This part of ourselves might have gone unexplored for many years, but it is more than worth surveying.
Hey there Renovators, welcome back to the chapter of our emotional houses series. In today's podcast, we'll be discussing the front of house. The front of the house is the very first thing that we and many of us if we are make our judgments of people and what they'll be like based on that front of the house. For that reason, many of us have done our best to use that as a method of changing or altering peoples' perceptions of who or what we'll be like based on the front of the house.. Join us today as we unpack and get real with whom we are underneath the false realities that we often create.
Hello again Renovators! We're excited to announce that we will be starting a new series: The Emotional House. In the same way that we renovate a house, we can also renovate our minds and emotions. However just like anyone who has ever embarked on a house project knows, it's always as easy as we first think. Many of us also often unsure of where to start and end and the entire processes can often seem overwhelming. In today's podcast, we'll be introducing this new series and talking all about the emotionally house. We've been dreading of doing this topic since the beginning, so stick around and help us to start touting and renovating, our emotional house.
Hello again Renovators! We had so much fun in our last podcast with Mark DeJesus that we lost track of time and ended up with an extra long podcast! Thankfully we'd only managed to talk about the first part of his book so we decided to dive even further into the topic of the rejection mindset.
Hello again Renovators, it's great to be back once again! We talked many times about the honestly affects of rejection and how it can warm itself into every corner of our lives even though we know that we have experienced it it can still be a struggle to properly identify rejection's role in our story and to properly appreciate just how strong it's influence can be. Today's special guest Mark DeJesus is here to take us through his book "Exposing the Rejection Mindset." In his book, Mark explains not only what rejection is but how it manifesting itself in our lives and how it can become a self fulfilling cycle if left unchecked,
Hello again Renovators! Today we are wrapping up our three part season over transitioning. In our last two podcasts, we examined the joys and difficulties of exiting a season and discussed the period of examination that comes afterwards. While not always pleasant, they're subjects that people generally feel at least somewhat competent in tackling. However, what happens when we go into the new? It can be overwhelming to say the least! In today's podcast we'll be discussing this new realm of possibility and the four D's that you'll encounter along the way. We pray that this entire journey has been helpful!
Hello again Renovators! Today we continue our series over transitions. In a perfect world, the moment that we end something, we'd be able to immediately start a new activity without any hiccups or upsets. Unfortunately, life rarely has us in situations where this is the case and many of us find ourselves scrambling in the "in between season." In today's episode we discuss what this season can be like and we give some tips over how to best navigate through it so that we are prepared for our next stage in life.
Hey Renovators, we are so excited to be back! Things are going to be looking a bit different but we are happily embracing the change as we enter a new season. The next few podcasts are going to be all about transition. Transitioning into new areas of life isn't always a clean and easy process and today's episode explores the first step, ending a season. Many of us can get stuck in the process of doing this and hopefully you find today's discussion to be helpful as you make decisions in your own life.

In Todays episode we give you all the details about All exciting things that are about to take place this summer.
How many of us want to get to the victory lap of our healing so we can joyfully say, “yes I beat it!” I think if we’re honest.. it would be everyone! However, in order to heal, we must confront the lies of the enemy! In this episode, Denise shares with us that the victory comes in realizing you are not your past. It doesn’t define us but it has certainly influenced our choices and behaviors that we face! So how do we go from the confronting phase of healing to the conquering phase of the victory lap..take a listen!
Do you find yourself rehearsing these thoughts over and over, I can't seem to get it right? Why do others seem like they're together and I'm not? Why doesn't someone love me? Why don't I feel safe with my parents or caregivers? Why were the people who were there to protect me the ones I ended up needing to protect myself from? These are some of the questions Denise found herself asking. She always kept going and trying her best to keep moving forward. Perhaps you relate to her. You find yourself moving and circling back to the same place. So how do you take the steps to begin to walk out of this repetitive cycle and into the life God has destined you to live? In Today’s episode we finish the conversation with Beth about a lie that she believed about herself. She discusses the steps that she took to conquer the belief that people will love you only if you please them. She learned over time to become a performer to gain approval. The toxic thread of performance has woven itself into almost every fabric of people’s lives. Getting free is possible and life changing, but it takes intentional recognition and desire to change. Did you know if you Base your self-worth on how well you are performing for the day it is a recipe for disaster. That foundation will crumble underneath you! Performance based living will condition you to be a constant doer. You will only do, without knowing how to just be.The healing and freedom process begins with establishing a new source for affirmation and worth. How do you gain a sense of validation? What gives you your sense of worth? In Today’s episode we talk to Beth about a lie that she believed about herself which is “I am only as good as I perform” This false identity left her always striving to do more and be more which left her empty and exhausted! Fortunately the story doesn’t end there. Beth learned how to identify, confront and conquer this lie. Part 2 of our conversation with Bethany. In Today’s episode we finish the conversation with Bethany about a lie that she believed about herself. She discusses the steps that she took to conquer those lies that were in direct opposition to her identity as a believer in Christ. Listen in and hear how God restored her identity as she partnered with Him in her healing. She shares how we don’t have to live insecure lives because it’s God’s will for us to be very secure in Him. We were created to feel safe, secure, confident and bold; it’s part of our spiritual DNA as born-again believers in Christ. But the key to living a secure is knowing who you are in Christ.Be apart of Renovating U's exclusive community where you can connect and be guided by like-minded people. Hopelessness results from the consequence of an inaccurate belief system. Have you ever believed the lie that tells you “there is no hope!” If you have, you’ve been deceived! Truth is transformational. It has the power to make you free! Lies have an opposite detrimental effect. How do you know that your perception of reality is inaccurate? How do you know that what you believe is not true....because you are not free! It can be just that simple.Accurate believing produces joy and peace and an abundance of hope. Acknowledging the truth is not sufficient to bring freedom; the truth you believe is the only truth that liberates you. In some cases you may have your facts straight but still be bound. Jesus warned, take heed how you hear (Luke 8:18). If you have drawn inaccurate conclusions, you “heard wrong.” Allow the Holy Spirit to interpret reality for you. What has to happen in order for us to begin to be hopeful? We have to step out of the victim mentality that has us held in bondage and begin to get curious about what we are really thinking about and begin to believe the truth about who God says He is in our life!Be a part of Renovating U's exclusive community where you can connect and be guided by like-minded people. Have you ever felt powerless because you can’t CONTROL THE OUTCOME OR THE RESULTS of a situation or an event? Have you ever felt stuck in bad circumstances? Perhaps it’s a bad job, financial problems, addictions, unhealthy relationships, or maybe even something as minor as a bad attitude we can't seem to shake! When we’re in the midst of these problems, it can often seem like there’s nothing we can do to pull ourselves out of them. And is there something we could be doing differently to change our lives, even when our circumstances seem unchangeable?Today’s show continues our discussion on overcoming powerlessness as we lean into the truth of God’s love and plans for us! We are doing a 3 part conversation in the upcoming episodes addressing helplessness, powerlessness and hopelessness. This week’s episode is on HELPLESSNESS and it’s impact on our lives and how we can use this emotion as an ally when we turn to Christ. We address these questions: How did I get to the place where I have given up? Was it a process? Was it a choice? Was it really out of my control? What has caused me to feel helpless and what experiences are attached to the emotions that have left me feeling this way. And most importantly, how did I get out of this state? If you feel helpless today, we pray that you will feel understood and loved right where you are.Be a part of Renovating U's exclusive community where you can connect and be guided by like-minded people. In Todays episode we continue our final episode on Love Languages. Todays focus is all about physical touch. For those of us who believe that they don't need touch may really not be an accurate perception. God created all of us with the same nervous system receptors..Could it be that perhaps you were used to seeing this in your home between your mom and dad? Each of us must daily decide to love our people in their language. It takes getting our eyes off of ourselves and more on others while still keeping healthy boundaries! In today’s episode we continue our series on love languages. Today’s focus is Gift giving and Acts of Service. A gift is something that you can hold in your hand that says, I was thinking of you. Dr. Chapman talks about how is is not the thought implanted only in the mind that counts, but the thought expressed in actually securing the gift and giving it as the expression of love. For some of us, we really can’t connect with gift giving because it was done infrequently if at all. So how do you learn to love someone in this language?Remember it starts with a thought, I am thinking about them. So we have to learn to share our head space with someone.Do we struggle with serving others? Do we feel like they can do it for themselves? After all I do it all for myself? Or maybe we don’t like how much time it takes out of our day to love others with Acts of Service? Each of us must daily decide to love our people in their language. Have you ever felt like you’re not worthy to receive love or perhaps you feel like the person you are trying to love has walls up around their heart preventing any sort of emotionally connection? In today’s episode we are going to dive into why we don’t feel loved. It’s as if people are trying to show us love but it doesn’t seem to make a dent in our emotional love tank. The reverse can be true as well when we try to show love to others and it doesn’t seem to make a deposit! So what’s the problem? What we see happening is that each of us has has a different love language. We discuss Dr. Gary Smalley’s book, The 5 Love Languages and learn that to be loved intentionally is a whole hearted connection. God's design, desire, and intention is to empower humans and entrust them to participate in the ongoing creativity of the universe. However, examining our own history and the world around us reveals that the story of most men is being entrusted with power and having that power brings harm to themselves and those under their care. What went wrong? When can you entrust a man with power? In today’s episode we talk to the author of Becoming a King, Morgan Snyder, who comes alongside men (and the women who love and encourage them) to rediscover this path of inner transformation. Becoming a King is your invitation into a radical reconstruction of much of what we've come to believe about God, ourselves, and the meaning of life. Morgan has a rare, honest conversation about what power and responsibility truly look like for men in our world today. Who we believe we are will direct our actions. If what we believe about ourself is not the truth about who God says we are then we will direct our actions based upon a belief system made up of lies. God has given us unique talents and giftings that are specific to each of us. It is, therefore, so important that our beliefs are rooted in the truth about our identity so that our actions and beliefs are congruent! In this way we will boldly walk out the plans and purposes God has for us! In this episode we have a special guest speaker, Pastor Joe Warner. He shares from his book, “Battle for your life: defeating the schemes of the enemy” Many times in life, we seem to battle with the same debilitating issues—from negative habits, thoughts, or emotions, to fears, triggered-reactions, and other matters that adversely affect us. We wonder if Is there any way to break free from the patterns that bind us, short-circuit us, or leave us in a place we really don’t want to be? But just as God has a plan for your life and strategies to help you, Satan has also crafted specifically-targeted schemes designed just for you. Listen in how and hear how to walk in freedom and victory in your life!

The holidays for some of us bring up so many unpleasant, fearful, lonely feelings and memories from the past that can bring up deep pain. We can be so wrapped up in the demands of our extended families and others that we often we can’t wait for them to be over. These feelings can be attached to the past that has now become the present and if we aren’t careful can become the future. We wanted to voice some possible challenges that may arise this year or perhaps have every year for as long as you can remember. In this episode we will discuss how we can begin to put some things in place that give us the freedom to express our choices and focus on the gift of Jesus, the reason behind the celebration. You can find Renovating U on instagram and facebook. How much time is it going to take to heal? When will I be fixed?Have you asked yourselves these questions before? If you have you will want to listen to this episode. In today’s episode we talk about the last ingredient of growth which is TIME!! If we don’t give grace and truth the needed TIME for us to change, then the change process cannot take place. The process of change gives God TIME to work his truth in our thoughts...this feeds into our attitudes, emotions, behaviors and finally habits. And as we know, a habit is a way of life that is lasting change. You can find Renovating U on instagram and facebook. You can also find us on our website @www.renovatingu.com. Truth is the second ingredient necessary for growing up in the image of God. Truth is what is real; it describes how things really are. Just as grace is the relational aspect of God’s character, truth is the structural aspect of his character. God’s truth leads us to what is real, to what is accurate. In relationships, grace and truth are essential nutrients for growth. One of the ways to understand the relationship between the two is that truth is like a protective framework or a skeleton. Grace is the heart of who you are, while truth is the framework that protects us.Grace without truth is a lot more fun, but grace without truth really leads to a life of chaos. You’ve got to have both. You can find Renovating U on instagram and facebook. You can also find us on our website @www.renovatingu.com. How do we grow? Where do we need to grow? What if we just can’t seem to grow? Who can help us grow?I think these questions allow us to pause and examine our lives. It all seems great when we intentionally set out to grow. It feels good that we are putting in the effort, making our lists, getting our accountability partner but MAYBE we have the wrong ingredients, the wrong seeds to grow what we want to produce, harvest and ultimately enjoy. In today’s episode We are going to unpack one of the three ingredients needed for growth and this is GRACE.You can find Renovating U on instagram and facebook.
