In this episode I break down the the filter I use to "trust my gut". It's basically the last piece of advice we get from anyone while we're in the middle of making a decision. So i give the practical steps that I use that help me know how to trust my gut. Also I gave out some really cool news. Everyday people, go on to accomplish their dreams! I talked with JC Rodriguez who has carved out a fun money niche on social media. We talked about the process that led to him growing his platform, how he manages it all today, and what he hopes the future holds.
There's been a lot of leadership focus over the last decade. I'm obviously super for it. I want people to be better leaders. However, I want our focus not to be on being impressive leaders, but impactful ones! In this episode I talking about shifting your perspective around leadership.
To accomplish something you haven't before, you have to do what you've never done! Here are 3 keys to making sure you can do that!
Often when we see successful people we think they got lucky, or that the success they have is what lead to their discipline. But the opposite is true. Most of the time successful people are where they are because of the disciplines they put into place. In this episode I talk about how I exchanged the word disciplines for practices, and why! That small change has made a big difference. The key is to realize the practices that keep successful people where they are, are the same practices that got them there in the first place. There is no secret to success, it's just depends on what price you want to pay.
The amount of conversations I have with people where they ultimately just say they feel stuck, happens more than I'd like. It's a common issue in our culture. I believe it's fueled by not having a vision for our life...and when we don't have a vision, we ultimately are driven by comparison and our insecurities. But in this episode I present a solution!
Most of the trivial problems and stresses and life can just melt away when we remind ourselves that our life is but a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow...What are you going to do with your life in the meantime?
All the components are important but component number 3 definitely fights to be at the top! IF you body isn't healthy, it will be tough for you to find health in the other components. I share about the importance of moving your body in the direction it needs to go, and 3 simple tips for getting healthier. Also here is the links to the two resources I shared: HOPE IS ALIVE: get healthy and beat your addictions Colin Pasque of Flolyfe
When it comes to whatever in the meantime season you find yourself in, it should be our highest priority to make sure we our renewing our thoughts on a daily basis!
Our life is made up of 6 components. Each one connected to the other. I'm starting a series covering all six components and in this episode I talk about spiritual health and how vital it is to all areas of our life. Also, I do my best to try to help us understand is far less weird than it often gets made out to be.
I'm a dreamer! Always have been. The downside to being a big time dreamer is sometimes you can get so caught up in the dreams that you miss the beauty and fulfillment of where you are! Or get frustrated that your current reality doesn't look like your dream! In this episode I touch on two fundamentals that help us dream well, and stay grounded in the midst of our dreams.
Sometimes we can find ourselves in a season where it feels like maybe all the Good God had for us has run out. But thats not the case. There is more good that God wants to do in our lives! The secret comes in not chasing it, but embracing it!
Often our idea of success is centered around the finished product! We definitely want to see goals attained, but we also want to see the success in the progress. Heres my two step formula for realizing progress.
Often we think we arrive at our purpose, when really, each step we take is part of our purpose.
Often we think we should chase our passion, but what if we just brought our passion with us. A life of passion happens best when we live it out in the meantime.
When it comes to living a fulfilled life in the meantime, then we have to approach the three P's: Potential, Passion, and Purpose. This is part one of three, where I discuss how we live out our potential. Also below are the four questions I ask in the episode: 1. What do you love to do or know you should do? 2. What have others told you that you're good at, that lines up with what you know you should do? 3. What are ways each day you could take small steps towards doing it more intentionally? 4. WHATS THE WHY? Why do you love doing it? 'Hows' and 'Whats' are good, but the WHY makes it sustainable.
So often in christianity we try to draw the line between happiness and holiness...but what if we are talking about it wrong?
In this episodeI sat down with my brother, Nate Riggs, and we talked about many of the things we face in the meantime.
We have limited time here on earth. The finitude of life should not be a cause for sadness, but a motivator that should excite us to do the things we know we should do and be who we know we should be.
In the episode I sit down with Pastor Dan Rodriguez and we discuss the components of spirituality, relationships, and vocation. I hope this encourages you where needed.
I believe so much of our environment is forcing us to become less and less human. Technology is a great thing, until it causes us to lose touch with we are. You don't have to drift, or be on autopilot. You can make the decisions that get you moving in the direction you want to go.
Eating healthy can be tough, but its a big part of cultivating a healthy-whole life. In this episode I touch on two small tips we could implement today that will help us going forward with our diet.
Gratitude is just like complaining; the more you do it, the better you become.
Talking about money is always tough. But not thinking about it correctly is even harder. In this episode I talk about my philosophy when it comes to money, and I hope it can serve you well!
Far too often we can find ourselves just floating and coasting through life. But I believe, in the meantime, there is an alternative! That we can choose how to use the energy we have been given. I also believe we can improve our energy. But in this episode I discuss the best places where to put it. I first and foremost I believe we should bring our best energy to the people we interact with!
In this episode I sure mostly about the transition I am making in my career. Moving from a full time employee to full time entrepreneur! I'm excited about this new season and I wanted to share a little bit about my journey, but also share a few pieces of advice on how I navigated through my decision. If this encourages you I would love for you to give me some feedback and share with your friends.
There is no need to wait for someone else, or for something else, to improve your life. You have the opportunity to do that today! How? First by taking control of your emotions/attitude. Its the number one way to begin to change your life today!
In this episode I talk with my good friend Colin Pasque about the many aspects of healthy living! It is hands down one of the most important things we can do in the meantime, yet so many times it falls to the back burner! Colin provides wonderful types on training and how it can be a part of your daily routine!
In this episode I talk briefly about one of my favorite stories from scripture. A blind beggar hears of Jesus coming to town, and instead of thinking that he doesn't deserve to be better, he does what he can to get to Jesus. He chooses to live a life where his weakness doesn't define him. So often we're paralyzed by our limitations. It's time for you to have the courage to be bad at something while you're on your way to be good at it.
I think it's fair to say that it's both. But ultimately I feel like more than anything social media is only revealing who we truly are on the inside!
Sat down with my buddy again to talk about the main things that we're growing through!
The common denominator in getting better or not getting better is often connected to the people you are closest with!
I believe in this one big time! Throughout our days we often have moments where we can either be quick to criticize or quick to coach. Our ability to be coachable is fully reliant on the ability of the coach. Lets choose in the meantime to throw out a critical spirit, and choose the life of a coach.
I love this phrase for its double meaning. We can get better as a human each day over time, it doesn't have to be all at once...and we can get better with how we use our time. Listen to some of the crazy stats about how the average person uses their time! My goal in this episode is to help you become more aware of how you invest your time!
Time to not just do more, but to do MORE of what really matters. I have a couple of thoughts on here about what I'm aiming to do with excellence for the next 30 days. If you listen, I'd encourage you to challenge yourself with the same thing!
This message is for graduates and anyone still fighting their student debt!! The best thing to do is ATTACK it. There is a huge difference between deferment and forbearance and I share that information briefly. No matter the size of your student debt, make a plan, stick to it, and make war on it. So many of us our in this boat. Let's pay it off sooner than later.
Doing hard things always reaps a big reward. The deal is, however, is that usually the hard things we want to do that offer big rewards, also come with major fear factors attached. But we shouldn't let that stop us, it could change our lives!
As much as it sucks sometimes, its only out of tension and struggle that strength is produced. Think about it, if you wanted to run a couple miles a day and you haven't in forever, that first run is going to be miserable. But then everyone after that is going to get easier! Life is the someway. We are in a corporate struggle. But if we manage the right way we can come out stronger.
Its definitely a time to be cautious and prepared...but I also believe its a time to move forward, innovate, and create!
Bryton is my business partner for Streakers Window Cleaning! He's a great friend and someone who is moving through the meantime the right way. Tune in to hear about the birth of our business and the birth of Bryton's pastoral career!
Case and I sat down and talked about our friendship, our callings, and everything in between. We briefly discussed the challenges included in pastoring the younger generation. Hopefully this can be encouraging to you.
Living a life where you are constantly thinking "I can't wait till..." often keeps us living a life full of purpose. I believe that if we begin to see each day as an opportunity to grow and impact others, then even during struggles and when we have to do hard things, we can live a purposeful life.
Here was a sermon that I preached last summer where the focus is around leadership and the risk it takes to lead like Jesus.
I believe this episode could be really impactful for a lot of people. Kate is a great friend of mine, and phenomenal pastor, and someone that is going after a God given dream that would impact people in a major way. Also, we start off our conversation about a conflict her and I had that we had to work through.
I preached recently at our Church and I went through a passage of scripture that helps us understand that the success of a believer is often correlated to the fact that God has given us the ability to see that His world is breaking into ours. That is to say, there is far more to life than meets the eye. Hopefully one of my old fishing stories will help make the connection for you!
I believe that Leadership is an invitation to everyone because everyone has someone that they can influence for the better. In this episode I talk about how we grow our influence by growing our production and relational awareness. Both are pivotal.
In this episode I sat down with Sam Obannon and we talked about his transition from college slacker (I can relate) to who he is today, a great leader, worker, and friend. Hope that it encourages you.
