The Reluctant Messenger Podcast

Send us Fan MailWhen you stop chasing your dreams, something unexpected happens. Listen to this 2-minute episode to learn more. Watch the original video: https://youtu.be/cE3HecLufGQOne of the most powerful spiritual lessons I have learned is not to chase what you think is meant for you. Instead, align with it. I used to exhaust myself trying to make things happen. Convince. Prove. Perform. Fix. Repeat. But my messengers showed me something deeper. When I forced something, I felt anxiety. Yet each time I surrendered, I felt peace. I realized that Peace is the compass. Look at your choices and decisions: If they bring anxiety, it is not alignment. One messenger showed me that misalignment feels like walking on eggshells, while alignment offers a firm path of acceptance and authenticity. Trust that what leaves you was never yours. When you stop chasing, you pause. And within that sacred space of stillness, what is divinely guided can and will find you. Align with the Divine and see how your life will change.Check out Candice's website at https://candicesanderson.com

Welcome back for another Damn We Grown Wednesday! This week, Mike and Tiff are keeping it all the way real about the pure exhaustion of adulting, from Maddi dragging a tired Tiff to the beach to trying to solve a Dinner Detective murder mystery with Ari and the crew. We are also sending some major birthday shoutouts to Rod, Jody, Sean, and a heavenly birthday to Ma Pearl. Here is what we are getting into this episode:Episode Highlights:Surviving the Weekend & Murder Mysteries: Tiff is running on fumes after being dragged to the beach by Maddi, proving that a mother's rest always takes a backseat to kids' activities. Plus, we recap a hilariously awkward Dinner Detective outing with Ari and Rod where we confidently—and incorrectly—accused an innocent pregnant woman of the crime. The Lost Art of Face-to-Face Conversation: Are we raising a generation that is terrified to talk?. We hilariously break down how the Web2 era and social media have killed real-life communication skills. Remember the days of The Clapper and actually calling someone on a telephone?.The Ultimate AI Music Prank: Tapping into his producer ear, Mike plays a soulful, 80s-style funk track that has Tiff grooving—until he reveals the whole thing was generated by AI. Her reaction is pure comedy, sparking a deep dive into AI technology, copyright laws, and the future of creative artistry. The Meat & Potatoes – Chasing Dreams Later in Life: Is it too late to go back to school or pivot your career when you are in your 30s or 40s?. We tackle the heavy hurdles like existing student loans, the fear of failure, and the financial responsibilities of adulting. It is time to transition from being a "thinker" to a "doer" because the time is going to pass anyway!Keep choosing joy!

Tim Rowland is someone I've wanted to get on the podcast for a while. Carp fishing's biggest asset is time, if used wisely but that isn't a currency Tim deals in. To help put Tim's carp fishing into context, it's usually one trip a month, after work on a Friday, once all the family demands and other life duties are in order. Over the last few years his angling adventures have been solely focussed around the Linch Hill complex, mainly Stoneacres. Many would think it just isn't worth even attempting to tame such a water without the luxury of time but Tim did it in style, fishing his own way and catching some of the best carp on the complex. In addition I caught up with Mark while he was fishing to discuss the joys of spring, the rise of Ai catch reports and some spring tips based on the carps body clock. Enjoy and as always we appreciate all your support, reviews and comments. You can find us on Spotify, I-tunes and all other podcast apps.

I see people openly chasing dreams, building businesses, having public profiles, naming what they want without guilt. Meanwhile, I question myself, am I allowed to want this, to be visible, to go after something simply because I want it? My soul feels like it's pushing me to be seen, heard and trust my desires without shame.'In this episode Gerry and Georgie have a deep conversation about self worth and how to go after the life we dream about. In this episode of our podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Carlos Hernandez, a talented bilingual comedian and musician, who has been making waves in the South Florida entertainment scene. We kicked off the conversation with some light banter about my music duo, Oro Fresco, which recently earned the title of Miami New Times Best Latin Act for 2024. I shared insights about his unique sound, blending genres like Dembow, Reggaeton, and jungle music, and even teased us with a snippet of his song "Nubes." As we transitioned into deeper topics, we discussed the realities of aging and the physical challenges that come with it. Carlos, at 31, reflected on how he started feeling the effects of aging, while I shared my own experiences of turning 40 and the unexpected aches and pains that come with it. We both agreed on the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and staying active, even as we joked about the struggles of getting older. The conversation then shifted to our journeys in comedy. Carlos recounted his early days in improv, inspired by iconic shows like "The Office" and comedians such as Steve Carell and Louis CK. He explained how he transitioned from a stable job in cybersecurity to pursuing comedy full-time, emphasizing the importance of believing in oneself and taking risks. We discussed the challenges of performing outside of Miami, where audiences may not be as familiar with his material, and the necessity of adapting to different crowds. Throughout the episode, we touched on the behind-the-scenes work that goes into comedy—how comedians constantly refine their material, deal with self-criticism, and navigate the pressures of performing. Carlos shared his experiences of performing alongside comedy legends in New York, highlighting moments that made him pinch himself in disbelief. This episode is a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the vibrant comedy scene in South Florida. Carlos's journey is a testament to the power of passion and hard work, and I hope our listeners find inspiration in his story as much as I did. Tune in for an engaging conversation filled with laughter, insights, and a glimpse into the life of a rising star in the comedy world.

Imagine a small town where neighbors gather for every celebration, and people stay remarkably healthy simply because they're deeply connected. Research shows that meaningful relationships—not achievement, diet, or even exercise—are the strongest predictor of long-term health and happiness, while loneliness can be as harmful as smoking two packs a day. Our social bonds influence gene expression, lowering stress and inflammation and activating the body's natural healing pathways. By prioritizing kindness, investing in uplifting relationships, and creating simple moments of togetherness, we tap into one of the most powerful longevity tools we have. And the hopeful truth is that building just a few authentic connections can change your life in profound, measurable ways. In this episode, I discuss, along with Radha Agrawal and Jeff Rosenthal, why deep, authentic connection is one of the most powerful determinants of our physical health, happiness, and longevity. Radha Agrawal is the co-founder, CEO, and Chief Community Architect of Daybreaker, the early-morning dance and wellness movement. Daybreaker currently holds events in 25 cities and more than a dozen college campuses around the world and has a community of almost half a million people. She is also the author of a new book called Belong: Find Your People, Create Community, and Live a More Connected Life. Jeff is the Co-Founder of Summit, a cutting-edge organization best known for hosting global ideas, festivals and events, and is the co-owner, principal designer, and developer of Summit Powder Mountain and Powder Mountain ski resort in Eden, Utah. He's the co-author of Make No Small Plans: Lessons on Thinking Big, Chasing Dreams, and Building Community.  This episode is brought to you by BIOptimizers. Most adults stop playing long before they stop dreaming. Somewhere between deadlines and responsibilities, hobbies quietly disappear and with them, a big part of what makes life exciting. In this episode, I sit down with James Buckley — speaker, creator, and unapologetic Lord of the Rings super-fan — to talk about how geeking out can actually make you better at your job, happier at home, and more energized in life.We explore how Tolkien's world of courage, creativity, and curiosity fuels James's professional drive and why chasing passions outside of work might be the most productive thing you can do for your career. You'll hear us break down:Why hobbies aren't a distraction but oxygen for your purpose. How fandoms and passions create connection, creativity, and energy that spill into your work. Why adults stop doing what they love — and how to reignite it.What Lord of the Rings can teach us about leadership, purpose, and perseverance. If you've ever felt like you've lost that spark — the one that used to make you excited to wake up and chase something — this conversation will remind you what it means to live fully.Because when you give yourself permission to chase dreams and geek out again… work gets better, life gets lighter, and purpose becomes a lot clearer.Love This? Sometimes the most meaningful parts of our creative journey are the detours — the moments when we think we've failed or lost our way, only to realize we've discovered something new. Like a labyrinth, life guides us toward the next best thing, often better than we could have imagined. In this episode, host Ekaterina (Kat) Popova sits down with Nishant Jain, also known as The Sneaky Artist, to talk about curiosity, permission, and finding beauty in the everyday. Nishant shares how writer's block led him to a thriving art practice, how he built a loyal global community through Substack, and why keeping secrets and creating privately can reignite your passion. If you've ever questioned your creative direction or struggled to share your art meaningfully in the digital age, this conversation will remind you that detours are destiny — and that creativity doesn't have to be loud to be powerful.

A mother's love for her child is unmatched, but what about the other things she loves?.. including HERSELF!!In this episode, Janni & Rach discuss balancing your own desires and dreams that are outside of motherhood and STILL BE A GREAT MOM! While many moms have this need for more, it's often frowned upon in society. Why is that?We take a dive into the judgement of others while also reminding ourselves and all moms that it is okay to have wants & needs that aren't centered around being a mom.Odds are you, a mother, have things in your life that you want for yourself. Whether that is to go back to school, start a business, take on a new hobby, change your career, etc. you still want them and IT'S POSSIBLE!! It won't be as easy as it is for the next person who doesn't have mouths to feed and butts to wipe, but nothing worthwhile comes easy. Even now, in your own mothering it's not always rainbows and butterflies but you still persevere. Now apply that to everything else.We truly believe that mothers are the strongest, hardworking people in the world who really can do it all. We hope in this episode you start to see that too, and choose you.We are cheering you on and so are your kids.xoxo, janni & rach
