Greek producer ANNĒ builds tension through kick and tom grooves beneath a droning synth break, and FJAAK's 'Scanline' showcases the duo's unmistakable approach, combining swinging percussion, driving chord stabs and endlessly echoing synth work. Techno legends Slam then strip things back, proving once again that a handful of perfectly chosen elements can deliver maximum impact. Sol Ortega brings an urgent, tom-led groove with racing chords, before Colin Benders delivers what might be the most visceral moment on the record: a barrage of distorted analog synths and crashing percussion that channels the intensity of his live performances. J Choirboy shifts the mood with a deeper, dub-infused excursion built around expansive dub chords and rich low-end weight, DEAS raises the tension again with eerie atmospheres, rolling basslines and fast-moving synth sequences, and Ferdinger closes the release with classic techno chords looping over a rolling shaker groove pushing the record to the finish line. CROWDX001 captures the full spectrum of contemporary techno across ten tracks that showcase techno's many shades without losing sight of its roots, perfectly summing up the vision of the Berlin-based label and sharing a common pulse.

In this episode, host Robin Hassler Thompson imagines freedom with Daniela Deas, a trauma-informed professional, survivor leader and social justice advocate with over eight years of experience supporting youth and adults impacted by sex trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation and gender-based violence. Daniela currently serves as a Survivor Mentor with You Are More Than, Inc., providing group and one-on-one mentorship and supporting economic empowerment through career guidance and small business development. She also works as a Human Trafficking Collaborative Strategic Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime, where she supports federally funded anti-trafficking programs nationwide. Daniela's background includes direct service, prevention education, and systems-level collaboration with organizations such as Pace Center for Girls, Kristi House, Fair Girls, and the Jewish Community Center. In 2023, she founded Survivors HOPE, a survivor-led nonprofit dedicated to healing and empowerment for commercially sexually exploited youth involved in delinquency systems. A national speaker and panelist, Daniela is known for centering survivor voices, challenging tokenism, and advancing collaborative, equity-driven responses to trafficking. At the Imagine Freedom 2026 Symposium, she brought both lived and professional expertise to the conversation on ending sex trafficking and building survivor-centered systems of care. I heard Cheryl speak at the National Federation of Families Conference (https://www.ffcmh.org/) in November of 2024, where she very vulnerably shared her experience of losing her son, DJ, to suicide seven years ago. On this episode, Cheryl talks about what a gifted athlete and student DJ was, and how she and her husband had no idea that DJ was struggling. Cheryl candidly discusses the hours, days, and weeks following DJ's suicide and how their friends and community surrounded them and held them up during this time. Cheryl offers advice and tips to parents based on what she has learned since DJ's death, as well as how her Christian faith has sustained her and led her to the establishment of the DJ Deas Marvelous Light Foundation (https://djdeasmarvelouslightfoundation.com). Cheryl's life passion is to prevent another family from experiencing death by suicide. Cheryl wants people to know that even on the darkest days, there is still hope, and it's ok to not be ok.
