We're at stop three on the Pennsylvania Amusement Park Roadtrip - Knoebels Amusement Park and Resort in Elysburg, PA. Pennsylvania's largest free admission amusement park is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. Knoebels features more than 50 rides, including the Phoenix---voted one of the top wooden coasters by Amusement Today; the Twister---go for the sharp vertical drop and the long ride time; and the High Speed Thrill Coaster. Built in 1955, it's believed to be the only operating Overland Coaster in the world. The Haunted Mansion has been named as one of the best dark rides anywhere. The Grand Carousel includes 63 horses, 3 chariots, two antique organs and a brass ring machine. Knoebels is currently building a classic wooden ride called Flying Turns. This rollercoaster-like ride will take riders rolling down wooden tracks, much like a bobsled run.
