For eighteen years (1983-2001) a fixture of radio & television's Howard Stern Show, comedian Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling was born and raised in East Norwich, a tiny hamlet on the glorious North Shore of Long Island, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Oyster Bay High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1971. In March, 1979, he created a dirty joke line, “Use Your Finger! Dial (516) 922-WINE!,” which has been in uninterrupted operation since 1979 [516-922-9463].​The jokes worked. Jackie released three self-produced comedy lp's, 1979's “What Did You Expect?,” 1980's “Goin' Ape!,” and 1981's “Normal People Are People You Don't Know That Well” on his own label, OHR Records.​In 1982, after founding “Governor's Comedy Shop” in Levittown on Long Island and touring as a national headliner, on a suggestion from a Washington DC comedy club owner, he blindly sent his three LP's to Howard Stern upon Howard's arrival at WNBC-AM in New York City. Howard called him to make a guest appearance on his radio show. In 1986, Jackie became a full-time cast member and the head writer of Stern's show, and as they say, the rest is history. Remarkable radio as well as show business history.​Jackie left the Stern show in 2001 after fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. He's released six dirty joke CD's … “The Joke Man,” “Sgt. The 1,500 square feet space was transformed from top to bottom into an urban oasis with features that include a refinished coffee and espresso bar, eclectic and comfy cafe seating, unique new interactive bubble booth, Parisian vibes and a hand-painted wall mural of Rittenhouse Square. For the beverage program, patrons will find exclusive locally roasted beans, a brand new house roast "The Botanist," an expanded bubble tea program and whimsical seasonal specialty offerings. From the kitchen, look for a selection of fresh French sweet and savory flaky pastries, unique breakfast sandwiches and the famous Croffle (South Korean treat that brings together a French Croissant and a Belgian Waffle). The Ground soft opened on Earth Day as a nod to its dedication to sustainability. It's a radically healthy take on the classic American burger joint. They've got grass-fed beef tallow in their deep fryer (just like McDonald's used to do it back in the day!) and of course their beef is 100% grass-fed; even their burger buns are gluten free. The concept is an offshoot of their first restaurant venture, Springbone Kitchen, which was an early leader in the bone broth movement. They now have 8 Springbone locations around the NYC area which are doing amazing. They used to serve a burger at their original location which was insanely popular, but they realized that to do anything well in this business you need to be a specialist. Peter Bales has appeared as a stand-up comedian at countless comedy clubs, corporate functions and colleges across the country and has appeared on a variety of television networks including FOX, A&E, Comedy Central, Lifetime, MTV, VH-1 and, most recently, "The New Rascals Comedy Hour" podcast for XM Satellite Radio. Peter has also hosted his own radio programs on NYC's WABC (770 AM) and WEVD (1050 AM). He has studied at Chicago's famous "Second City" and in the eighties directed The Laughter Company, an improvisational comedy group that helped launch the careers of Rosie O'Donnell and Bob Nelson.
