The Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th thanks to an Andrew Knapp walk off! The Phils were up 4-1 and Brandon Kintzler allowed a three-run bomb to Darin Ruf on an 0-2 count and mistakes continued to happen as the Phils lost the lead. The Philadelphia Phillies had an explosive 8th inning comeback thanks to the New York Mets pulling Jacob deGrom at 77 pitches who was dealing all night long. The four seam fastball was unbelievable! Matt Moore started for the Phils and he struggled after the first couple strikeouts. Brandon Kintzler, Samuel Coonrod, Connor Brogdon, and Jose Alvarado all stepped up in the bullpen. The Mets had a 2-0 lead in that 8th before Brad Miller produced. Andrew McCutchen and Rhys Hoskins followed. Bryce Harper was HBP by Aaron Loup. In the second hour, Bruce Levine and Mike Esposito were joined by White Sox catcher James McCann to discuss the White Sox's progress, their developing pitching staff and more. Later, Cubs reliever Brandon Kintzler joined the show to discuss the team's recent play, the state of its bullpen and the addition of star closer Craig Kimbrel.

The Cubs had a short layover in Atlanta on their way to Philadelphia, and they picked up a win against the Braves. Mike Montgomery was excellent for the first few innings but ran out of gas in the fifth, giving up four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. The Cubs' bullpen -- even Brandon Kintzler! -- combined to shut the Braves down the rest of the way, and Chicago pulled off a 5-4 victory. Sean Sears and I talked about that in the first segment, then looked ahead at tonight's game against the Phillies.In the second segment, we talked about a variety of little topics: The Bobby Wilson trade, Kris Bryant, Terrence Gore, and Jason Heyward's hamstring injury. The Cubs finished out a win in their suspended game from Tuesday, but lost the highly anticipated Jason Vargas and Alec Mills matchup. The Mets jumped on Mills early with a first inning grand slam and won the game, 10-3. Sean Sears and I talked about that, plus whether or not Mills might get another start. That took the potential tying run off the bases in the ninth inning, and the Cubs lost 5-4 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cole Hamels makes his Cubs debut tonight, but the even worse news is that the Cubs and Brewers are now tied in first place. Sean Sears and I play the wet blanket in our outlook on how the rest of the season could play out.In the second segment, we talked about the good news of the day: The Brandon Kintzler trade and a positive injury update on Yu Darvish. In the final segment, we updated the standings and chatted about the upgrades the Brewers made to their roster.
