Having Juan Soto makes the Josh Donaldson trade a distant memory. Russell Wilson is an interesting option for some teams but not the Giants.
Introduction: Host Michael Rand dissects the Timberwolves' 4-3 home stand, which included a ton of back-to-back games plus wins over the teams they were supposed to beat and losses to all the true contenders. It leaves Minnesota 43-19 with 20 games left -- and still in search of a little more consistency before the playoffs arrive. 8:00: D. Orlando Ledbetter, longtime Falcons beat writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution joins Rand for a breakdown of Atlanta's quarterback pursuit. With Kirk Cousins approaching free agency next week, Ledbetter says the current Vikings QB will be Atlanta's No. 1 target if he becomes available. Will the Falcons offer more stability than Minnesota? 25:00: Rand connects the dots between the Falcons, Vikings and Broncos QB situations. Could Russell Wilson wind up in Minnesota? 31:00: The end of the road for Josh Donaldson.
The boys are back at it tonight to talk about the 3 big departures coming up of Russel Wilson, Jason Kelce and Josh Donaldson. The New York Yankees are rumored to be interested in a reunion with infielder Gio Urshela, who was traded away in 2022, along with Gary Sanchez for Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Josh Donaldson. Stacey and Steve discuss the rumor and wonder where on earth Urshela would fit with the Yankees, but as they've chronicled all offseason, the Yankees need pitching and have enough infielders. They also go through the roster to see if there is a possible spot for Urshela that makes any sense. And when they say roster, they mean the first draft of the 2024 roster. It's obviously in flux and nowhere near finalized. Then, an ESPN article discussed the pitching market and the Yankees' place in it. The author of the article below thinks the Yankees are out on Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery, but as Stacey and Steve have discussed many times this offseason, the market is crazy, it's thin, and the Yankees have to do something. And finally, a comment on a video from a month ago got Steve thinking about MLB expansion, how thin starting pitching is already, and how much worse it could potentially be with two more teams being added to the league. Take 10 with Tim – September 1st1.What are your strategies for the last month of the season?2.I think the Yankees are doing the right thing by waiving Josh Donaldson and Harrison Bader. I know about the report that Bader found out about the move on TV, but that's hard to believe. I know they are the hated Yankees, but they've always had a reputation for doing right by their players.a.Your thoughts on the move and anything else you want to discuss3.The September call-ups are underway. This is who we have so far.a.I just saw Jasson Dominguez last week in Double-A, and he's reportedly being called up. I'll preview him as I've seen about 100 at-bats of him.b.Austin Wells (C, NYY)c.Ceddanne Rafaela (OF, Bos)d.Ronny Mauricio (IF/OF, NYM)e.Kyren Paris (SS, LAA)f.Nick Loftin (SS, KC)4.The Angels waved the white flag on Tuesday, putting a quarter of their roster on waiver, including Lucas Giolito (Cleveland), Reynaldo Lopez (Cleveland), Matt Moore (Cleveland), Dominic Leone, Hunter Renfroe (Reds), and Randal Grichuk. Harrison Bader (Reds)a.Do any of these players interest you from a fantasy standpoint? If so, who?b.Any thoughts on who gets their playing time?c.I know we've talked to this way too much, but what the heck are the Angels doing?5.Someone from Barstool put out a clickbait tweet saying the following: Is it crazy to think that Mookie Betts will retire a better player than Mike Trout?a.What say you?6.I really liked the Royals' acquisition of Cole Ragans, as I didn't like the way the Rangers were handling him. He's doing oka.Let's talk about the pitcher he can become?7.Michael Brantley has finally returned. Any interest?8.Just when you thought Alex Lange had some things figured out, he crushes your soul. He and Aroldis Chapman are reminding all of us what the Closer Report is suppose to look like – Chaotic. a.Thoughts?9.What hitter will you be targeting this weekend?10.What pitcher will you be targeting this weekend? This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3306394/advertisement
Three of the six Angels players that were put on waivers earlier this week (Giolito, Moore and Lopez) were claimed by the Cleveland Guardians, a team that is currently only five games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. Jake and Jordan break down this move, and discuss other notable waiver claims such as Hunter Renfroe and Harrison Bader to the Reds, and Dominic Leone to Seattle. Then, the guys run through the latest September call-ups, headlined by the Yankees' 20-year-old phenom Jasson Dominguez. Finally, the guys touch on Ronald Acuna Jr, Terrance Gore, Nebraska Women's Volleyball, and sparkling white wine from 2015 in this weeks edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Uggla.Merch Link: podswag.com/baseball
