EPISODE 50: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: At his Sunday night rally in Mesa, Trump boasted he had boxes of documents at Mar-a-Lago, their contents were all "his." He is all but daring Merrick Garland to arrest him (2:30) Mr. Attorney General: saying "I had a small number of boxes at Mar-a-Lago...guarded by Secret Service...they should give me immediately back everything they took from me, because it's mine" is a CONFESSION (4:06) We now learn he also offered to TRADE the documents for FBI Russia records (6:00) And Friday's conclusion that the FBI was at least ready to search Trump Tower and/or Bedminster was confirmed by Rolling Stone's report that DOJ is asking witnesses if he had documents in those locales (8:30) And while Merrick Garland stalls and hesitates, Trump's minions have dropped the pretense and are joining him on stage to admit they are there to end fair elections (11:00) And his cult's candidate for Governor of Arizona did something last night that was just this side of posing with a ball-gag in her mouth with the word "TRUMP" written on it. B-Block (13:54) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Boomer, in Los Angeles (15:01) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Small problem in the Kremlin case against the "terrorist" who blew up the Kerch bridge, as Michael Flynn calls US Ally Zelenskyy a "fool," the lead Democrats on the L.A. City Council are going to have to resign, and the bad reviews for Yankee Scented Candles may actually augur a new Covid wave, so get your Bivalent! (20:29) IN SPORTS: Ear today, gone tomorrow: Mets get waxed as Showalter's Musgrove Ritual falls on deaf ears (23:55) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Kanye West (and the Republican Attorney General who defended his antisemitism) try to stave off Tommy Tuberville's racism and Mehmet Oz's Hitler Symbolism for the honors. C-Block (30:21) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: My friendship with the legendary actress Elizabeth Montgomery (32:00) How it happened because of the founding of ESPN Radio and the unexpected scoop we got on the first weekend (34:25) Leading me to do my impression of my high school classmate Chris Berman as he greeted me on my first day at ESPN (38:44) And the extraordinary life lesson about fans and memory that she taught me and has stayed with me for 30 years.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

September has already come and gone signaling the quarter-way point in the football season (we cry). We bring back resident football analyst Dave Cardillo to for a second straight week. The CFB slate is finally a good one with 5 ranked matchups between Power-5 schools. On the picks front, Chad has decided to test Vegas and challenge their traps while John, Dave, and Conor elect to steer clear. Underdogs galore for this week's CFB locks. In the NFL, the Dolphins and Eagles have emerged as legitimate Super Bowl contenders (for now), the Jaguars might actually be good, and the Falcons have officially secured their first win. The fellas look to stay hot with their locks and break down this week's I.G.O.W. S3, E26: The Brewers finally are starting to play good baseball, winning 7 of their last 10 including a 2-game split with the Cardinals and series win over the mighty Yankees. Heading into the home stretch with 2.5 weeks left, do they have enough life in them to overtake the underperforming Padres or floundering (phloundering) Phillies? Does Craig Counsell leave pitchers in too long? It seems the bullpen blows the games when he should've left the starter in, but that may just be human bias. Is he making the right call? And it's time to stop playing Andrew McCutchen, we can all agree on that. Well, maybe. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bleedingblueandyellow/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bleedingblueandyellow/support

The Brewers needed Thursday's win to earn a split with the best team in baseball and they had their ace Corbin Burnes on the mound with some run support! Andrew McCutchen connected on a pair of homers for his first multi-homer game as a Brewer. Hunter Renfroe added three hits including a homer to help build a 5-0 lead at one point over the Dodgers. Burnes was rolling until he hit a speed bump in the sixth inning, but as Dom (@Dom_Cotroneo) explains, three guys not named Devin Williams in that bullpen were just as important as the man who got the final out in this one. We prepare for three straight day games at Wrigley before heading west to take on the Dodgers again. Brandon Woodruff returned from the injured list on Tuesday after just over a month away dealing with an ankle issue and newly discovered Raynaud's Syndrome. His start was a welcomed sight for the Brew Crew: five dominant innings with ten strikeouts and no walks en route to the win as the Brewers won 5-3 over the Rays. The start was the fifth time in Woodruff's career he reached double-digit strikeouts without yielding a walk. Kolten Wong also returned for the Brewers and added a key double in the big sixth inning for the Crew that put them in front for good. A pair of two-run homers from Andrew McCutchen and Luis Urías led the way for Milwaukee in the opener of the road trip. Tuesday also marked Willy Adames's return to Tropicana Field along with Mike Brosseau, Hunter Renfroe, and hitting coach Ozzie Timmons. Dom (@Dom_Cotroneo) breaks down Woodruff's start with the numbers and also tries to explain the manager decisions in the 6th and 8th innings while the game hung in the balance. Al was mildly incredulous at Juan Soto's 1st inning bat attempt. What did Davey Martinez have so to about it? (16:01) The Nationals used a tandem start on Sunday as Paolo Espino lasted until the 4th and then Evan Lee bridged the game into the late innings. Paolo took a hard luck loss as he only allowed 1 run in 3.2 IP. At one point in his start, his ERA dipped as low as 1.84! Will these pitchers be used again in Friday's doubleheader? The Brewers were down to their final three outs on Thursday returning home from a grueling road trip and preparing to face one of the NL's best closers. Jace Peterson and Andrew McCutchen said "hold my beer." The Crew did not record an out in the final frame of the game with an epic four-run comeback to shock the Padres in game one of the series 5-4. Peterson delivered the three-run, game-tying triple that was just a yard or two away from ending the game with an ultimate grand slam. He settled for a triple and set the stage for McCutchen to break out of his 0-for-32 slump with a clean single through a drawn-in infield to claim the second walk-off victory of the season. Now we prepare for another ace-off: Corbin Burnes vs Joe Musgrove on Friday night. The two current front-runners as National League Cy Young will square off in a battle of two of the best young righties in the game today. Dom (@Dom_Cotroneo) takes you through the big moments in the ninth, a few plays and notes you may have missed and plenty more in today's episdoe. New podcast name and new logo! The Brewers offense found its groove -- at least, in three of the week's seven games -- to bounce out of a sluggish start to 2022. But is that enough to say it's turned a corner? Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss a productive 5-2 week of baseball, including a six-homer game against the Cubs. Eric Lauer has been pretty great for a long period of time ... at this point we just have to say it's for real, right? Plus: Aaron Ashby showing major promise, Corbin Burnes still dealing (albeit in two losses), Andrew McCutchen and Willy Adames breaking out and asking the question: Is baseball still fun with this year's muted offense? Remembrew When looks back at the guy Josh Hader is chasing for the franchise's all-time saves mark, and Curt Blanche goes after a stupid baseball rule in Curt's take of the week.  Music intro: https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music.

From the first pitch of the game, to the final hit for the Brewers, it was clear that Thursday was Andrew McCutchen's day. He homered on the first pitch and drove home the go-ahead run as he provided all three RBIs for the Brewers in their 3-2 win over the Pirates. The win completes the sweep for the second straight week over Pittsburgh as the Brewers improve to 13-7 and first place in the NL Central. Not lost in the offense, Freddy Peralta turned in his first quality start of the season despite a no decision. He worked six spotless innings without a walk - only the fifth QS in his career without a free pass. Next the Brew Crew welcomes the Cubs north for the first of three games from American Family Field this weekend. The Brewers had to improve their offense this past offseason. And while it hasn't been off to the immediate start that many fans had hoped for, the two newest Brewers had clutch hits in a 5-4 victory over the Orioles. Andrew McCutchen led the team with three RBIs and Hunter Renfroe also added an RBI double in a fun contest to level the series at a game apiece. Meanwhile, the bullpen had to spring into action early once again with Brewers's starter Eric Lauer failing to complete five innings. The relievers did not allow a run for the final four and two-thirds innings, despite it getting a little shaky at the end. But hey, a win is a win and the Brewers improved to 2-3 with the victory and will go for the series today at 6:05 PM CT.
