On this week's episode, we are joined by our friend Zach for our second annual season-long team draft, where whoever's ten teams win the most games this season is declared the winner. From there, we recap the highlights of early pool play at the WBC, and discuss Andrew McCutchen heading to the Rangers, Zack Littell heading to the Nationals, Jurickson Profar being banned for 162 games after his second PED suspension, injuries to Hunter Greene and Jeremy Pena, and the ESPN list of top 100 MLB players.
Become a Diehard today! https://alldlls.com/join/ Opening Day is drawing closer for the Texas Rangers, who continue to monitor several players for only a handful of roster spots. The addition of Andrew McCutchen threw a new wrinkle into the competition for the right-handed hitting extra outfielder. On the pitching side, Jacob Latz appears to have edged ahead of Kumar Rocker in the race to be the fifth starter. In the bullpen, Alexis Diaz's struggles might have opened the door for veteran Josh Sborz and prospect Gavin Collyer. The Rangers' bats are heating up in Arizona with only 12 days left until camp breaks. 00:00 - INTRO 01:20 - Camp Roundup 17:37 - Roster Predictions 32:30 - Jeff's Spring Trip #2 Recap 46:38 - Batting Cleanup #mlb #springtraining #texasrangers #texas An ALLCITY Network Production SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/@DLLS_Sports ALL THINGS DLLS: WEBSITE: https://store.allcitynetwork.com/collections/dlls-locker BUY MERCH: http://DLLSLocker.com FOLLOW ON SOCIAL: Twitter: @DLLS_Sports Instagram: @DLLS_Sports Become a DLLS Diehard and get access to premium content, our Discord channel, discounts on merch, and a free shirt! Did GM Ben Cherington and manager Don Kelly make the right move in trading reliever Kyle Nicolas to the Reds for prospect Tyler Callihan? The guys also ponder Andrew McCutchen's departure for a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, what it means for the season and how fans might react to a franchise icon leaving town once again. The Pirates face the Cardinals at LECOM Park today as Ryan and Nate break it down for you. Mitch Keller makes his 3rd start of Grapefruit League action and carries a 0.00 ERA into it. Will we see anything different from him in this start or is this just a continuation of Mitch getting in work to be mid-season form? The lineup continues to boast a plethora of regulars with Brandon Lowe, Jake Mangum, Bryan Reynolds, Ryan O'Hearn, Joey Bart, Henry Davis, and Jared Triolo facing the Cardinals. It does seem like there is a bit different of an offensi e approach this spring as Nate points out that can be very helpful for the Buccos. Check out Fran Duffy's 2026 Diehard Draft Guide! https://alldlls.com/draftguide26/ The Texas Rangers aren't done with their roster construction. Early Thursday, word broke that they had reached a minor-league deal with Andrew McCutchen, the 2013 National League MVP and longtime Pirates fan favorite. The five-time All-Star must perform the rest of camp to earn a roster spot as a part-time outfielder and DH who would serve as the right-handed-hitting complement to Evan Carter and Joc Pederson. He also brings 17 seasons of experience to a team whose bench candidates lean young. Which player is worthier of the HOF – Dave Parker or Andrew McCutchen? Parker is already in, but Chris thinks neither guy should be in there. He labeled both as ‘Hall of Very Good' players. Chris said Juan Soto is already in if Parker is in.
Oneil Cruz was a disappointing player in 2025, but was it one of false hope? Early on, it looked like Cruz had figured things out, showing off a .902 OPS across March and April. May was OK, but things really tailed off as we got into the summer months. He only hit 8 home runs in the final 4 months of the season. Is he the forgotten man in the Pirates lineup? The front office went out and signed 69 home runs worth of power this offseason and the organization touts the #1 prospect in all of baseball, Konnor Griffin. Does that ease the pressure for Cruz? Everything also orbits around Paul Skenes, the reigning NL Cy Young. The existence of the new bats, Griffin and Skenes takes some off Cruz's shoulders. What will the Pirates lineup look like? Is it getting late early for Cruz or is he entering his hypothetical prime? Cruz was flailing and failing in the back half of 2025, so it feels like things can only go up. Chris is afraid to say Cruz will finally blossom, but he can be the biggest pivot point for the 2026 Pirates. Do fans have different expectations for Oneil Cruz in 2026? Which player is worthier of the HOF – Dave Parker or Andrew McCutchen? Parker is already in, but Chris thinks neither guy should be in there. He labeled both as ‘Hall of Very Good' players. RMU has one guy from its team a year ago that almost beat Alabama. Toole addressed how frustrating it was that one of their players was point shaving and the lack of respect for the game. Joey Porter Sr. said that Ben Roethlisberger wasn't a good teammate or person. Pitt basketball lost to Duke but there was some energy in the building.
The Pirates have made significant upgrades to their lineup, but it has come at Andrew McCutchen's expense. The Pirates should sign Konnor Griffin for eight-years, $140 million with a club option. The Super Bowl was a boring game, but Bob thinks it was a brilliant performance by Seattle. Neal Shipley in his first opportunity in the TGL indoor golf event hit a hole and one and game winning putt!
Hour 1 with Bob Pompeani: The Pirates have made significant upgrades to their lineup, but it has come at Andrew McCutchen's expense. The Pirates should sign Konnor Griffin RIGHT NOW. This show is presented by FanDuel. What was Jason and Colin's reaction to the Ozuna signing? Does he fill an obvious need in the Pirates' lineup? Did GM Ben Cherington get a good deal on the 35-year-old designated hitter? What will this mean for other pieces of the Pirates defense like Ryan O'Hearn? And what does this mean for team legend Andrew McCutchen? Does this mark the end of his contributions as a Pirate? Our duo tackles those topics and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. This is a sad way for the Andrew McCutchen era to end. It was a good three years with him. McCutchen changed his profile picture from him in a Pirates jersey to a picture of a player swinging a bat. Jeff would like to see Malik Willis be the quarterback over Aaron Rodgers. When and where are the Steelers going to get a quarterback??
Hour 2 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: How concerned are you that Marcell Ozuna's struggles last season could continue? Should Konnor Griffin be on the big league team to start? Griffin, Lowe, O'Hearn, Reynolds, Ozuna, and others would be a legitimate Pirates lineup. Signing Marcell Ozuna likely marks the end of the Andrew McCutchen era. This definitely could have been handled differently.
