Dalton & KJ are BACK for the Season 10 Premiere of 302BIRDS, and we're kicking things off the only way we know how — Philly sports takes, chaos, and real fan conversations.
Chase Utley isn't a Hall of Famer yet, but with the votes in for this year's class, it's clear the Phillies second baseman is on a glidepath to eventual enshrinement. On Episode 1041 of Hittin' Season, John Stolnis of The Good Phight and Baseball Prospectus' Justin Klugh talk about how all the Phillies fared on this year's ballot, which current Phils players could be Hall of Famers, and preview next year's hilariously bad Phillies class. Also, Dave Dombrowski and Rob Thomson spoke to reporters Tuesday to reassure a fanbase uninspired by this off-season, and we look at which positions on the field the Phillies might improve on from 2025.
Phils back.. We have a deep conversation about butt plugs, the dangers that come with them. The man with the world's smallest penis and what Phil wants to do for him. Also, on the agenda we get into the time Jim came home late from a rave and woke his parents up. Phil daughter is following in his footsteps. Plus so much more. Also go back and listen to the “sibling rivalry” episode released 4/19/23. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/inappropriate-with-jim-and-steve/id1596108393?i=1000609622865

The waiver wire may have been quiet, but there's no shortage of Phillies items to hit on a new Hittin' Season, hosted by The Good Phight's John Stolnis and Justin Klugh of Baseball Prospectus. What about Bryce Harper wearing a Not Elite T-shirt? Does Dave Dombrowski give the Phillies an edge over other GMs? And does the Phils outfield have a chance to be the worst in baseball? Surely not! Also, when is J.T. Realmuto going to sign?
Francisco Rojas is back for another Phillies Today. One thing the Phillies won't be running back in 2026 is the same bullpen we saw in '25. Realmuto remains unsigned and the back-up plans if they can't get a deal done, the White Sox signing a Japanese slugger and what it means for the Phillies, and a Phils-themed piece of merchandise we feel is missing from your Christmas wish lists.

The Reds won the World Series 50 years ago in a classic highlighted by the amazing game six eventually won by the Red Sox on the foul-pole hitting HR by Carlton Fisk in the 12th inning. Prior to that, legend has it that Pete Rose said to Fisk "Man, isn't this the most exciting game you've ever played in?”. Rose had a knack for being in the moment and enjoying this game called baseball more than maybe any player that ever lived. And Sports Illustrated rewarded him at the end of the year by naming him “Sportsman of the Year”. Rose was at the top of his game, beloved by not only fans of the Big Red Machine, but baseball fans everywhere. His popularity transcended the game, as he was an everyday man, who played the game the right way. His work ethic and daily grind were legendary and he resonated with a great amount of folks whose lives were built around that same dedication to whatever their profession was. He was the working mans idol. Everyone could relate to this kid who was born on the wrong side of Cincinnati and was now the king of the town. A 44-game hitting streak in 1978 captured the attention of the nation before he left Cincy for Philly the following year, helping the Phils win a World Series in 1980… the 3rd and final championship of his career. He returned to the Reds as a player manager and in 1985 became the the game's all-time leader in hits before retiring as a player a year later with a still record of 4,256 knocks. And then it all came crumbling down. Keith O'Brien is also a kid from Cincinnati who grew up watching Rose in his latter years and chronicled his entire life in his bestselling book, “Charlie Hustle: The Rise and Fall of Pete Rose, and the Last Glory Days of Baseball.” It goes into great detail about Rose's humble beginnings, how he got the nickname Charlie Hustle from two of the game's greats, Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford, and how his prowess as one of the greatest players of all-time made him one of the game's most popular players of the 20th century. But O'Brien also did countless research into Rose's gambling addiction, the people that he associated with and the eventual suspension and expulsion from baseball. He joins us on POP to discuss at length in great passion how this man of the people who was adored by legions of fans everywhere would fall from grace, and end up on the outside of the Hall of Fame looking in… literally. It's a tragic tale of the American Dream going awry. A kid who had nothing but grit and determination turns himself into one of the greatest ballplayers of all-time, only to let his addiction to betting… and betting on the game he lived for...keep him away from the thing he loved most… baseball. Join us as we look back on the year Rose was at this top his game… 1975… and the decline that would take place a decade later as we talk with Keith O'Brien to discuss his book, “Charlie Hustle: The Rise and Fall of Pete Rose and the Last Glory Days of Baseball,” on the Past Our Prime podcast. We did some UPGRADES to end the year folks. New mics for the crew, courtesy of Santa. I hope you're reading this part, because this is additional "content", which we're told people enjoy. So CONTENT AHOY as we catch up after 2 weeks...which means that it's time to go LOW and HIGH on the Birds. It's the end of a losing streak, but we've learned a lot about this team. Mike is in a bit of a wellness check zone during this episode. We righted the ship, but the next three games will tell us what kind of playoff caliber squad we are this year.We also needed to get back to - everyone's favorite winter activity - offseason baseball meetings! The Phils bring back KYLE for another 5 years. Locking in a centerpiece, you gotta love it. But what other moves are a'comin? We welcome Garcia, could be an interesting prove-it year. But maybe time for Crawford in CF? We ponder, we wonder, and we look forward to pitchers and catchers reporting.Somehow we still crammed in a bit of the Sixers and the Flyers, but next week - maybe JUST in time for Christmas, we'll go deeper on these possible playoff-level teams. HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you, Hoagie Mouth Nation.Email: hoagiemouthpod@gmail.comIG: @hoagiemouthpod
