Daniel Cormier IS BACK with his INSTANT REACTION to Dustin Poirier losing to Max Holloway in his final fight of his UFC career. DC gives his take on Poirier's historic retirement fight, and breaks down how Holloway was able to out-strike Dustin and defend his BMF title in the main event at UFC 318 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Cormier also gives his take on Paulo Costa beating Roman Kopylov in the co-main event in a huge bounce back victory for the Brazilian. And don't miss DC talk Patricio Pitbull vs. Dan Ige, Daniel Rodriguez vs. Kevin Holland, and so much more! #VolumeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
UFC 318 gave us lots of tremendous moments, starting with six finishes. That's right, folks, the first six fights were all finishes. As a matter of fact, they would be the only finishes, too, as the next eight went to decision. We had some real bangers though, leading from the top with Poirier-Holloway. What a scrap, but it would be Holloway leaving with his arm raised. The tribute to Dustin was well-done and had many in the arena crying, and even some outside the arena.Other notable bouts were Kevin Holland's battle with Daniel Rodriguez, which saw both men nearly finished, but it would be D-Rod clinching the victory. Paulo Costa looked great against Kopylov, which wasn't hard to do since Roman seemed to get his gameplan from his mom, because he looked awful and didn't come alive until late in the third. Patricio Pitbull captured his first victory inside the octagon with a solid win over Dan Ige. Wish he could've gotten to the UFC before his prime was spent, but he got the W, and that's what counts. Now, let's check out the rest of the results and bonuses while we're here.MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. UFC 318 goes down in just 24 hours, headlined by a ‘BMF' title fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, in Poirier's backyard of New Orleans. The MMA Vivisection Shows: 'Main Card Preview' & 'Prelims Card Preview'
UFC 318 might have the hallmarks of a solid PPV—four ranked fights and 10 ranked fighters—but when you get to the alternative stats, that's when the whole thing falls apart. Fifteen fighters are coming off losses! And a 16th went to a draw. Fifteen fighters hail from the Contender Series. This seems an unacceptable sendoff for the Diamond, even if it is happening in his back yard.We have a genuinely great trilogy match between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway. Max looks better than ever against recent competition (unless your name is Ilia Topuria), and Dustin has been alternating wins and losses for the last several years, but sniping the up and coming competition along the way. While Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov seems like a fun fight, it just doesn't seem like a proper co-main event, considering how Costa has looked in his last couple outings. Now, let's take a look at all the fights from the main card and the alternative stats.UFC 318 Main Card* Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier 155 lbs* Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov 185 lbs* Kevin Holland vs. Daniel Rodriguez 170 lbs* Dan Ige vs. Patricio Pitbull 145 lbs* Michael Johnson vs. Daniel Zellhuber 155 lbsUFC 318 Alternative Facts* Ranked Fights: 4* Ranked Fighters: 10* Fighters coming off losses: 15 + 1 draw* Contender Series Alumni: 15* TUF Alumni: 3* Road to UFC Alumni: 0* Debuting Fighters: 2Don't forget to check out the bonus section for a great review of the UFC Nashville card. In this episode of Bring the Pain, Dan and I are fresh out of the Fight Club of Pain, ready to talk about this weekend's UFC 315 event on Saturday. With last week getting a little out of hand, we were still able to cash due to the fight theory we found while doing that episode. Two of those bets were upsets as we saw Reinier De Ridder plus Daniel Rodriguez help us cash on odds of +2300 and +2600. That not only made the weekend but also went perfectly with my two MLB betting articles at Dr. Roto, as well. So let us get back to work as we get ready to slay the competition and the sportbooks once again. Have a great day, everyone, and may the fights be with you. Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week. Y'all the real #Painbringers! Cory Sandhagen did everything in his power Saturday to prove he deserves bantamweight title consideration. In the UFC Des Moines main event, Sandhagen dominated two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and looked to be cruising to a decision or a clean finish when the bout was stopped just before the end of Round 2 due to a Figueiredo injury. Even with that unfortunate ending, there should be no question Sandhagen is worthy of a championship shot. But does the UFC see him as the No. 1 contender? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, Alexander K. Lee goes solo to discuss what's next for Sandhagen with bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili set to defend in a rematch against Sean O'Malley at UFC 316 on June 7. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Reinier de Ridder after he humbled Bo Nickal, what to do with Nickal following his first loss in MMA, veteran welterweight Daniel Rodriguez, main card bantamweight winners Montel Jackson and Serhey Sidey, and the returning Mason Jones. Plus, some great listener picks to round out an otherwise dreary combat sports weekend. Follow Mike Heck: @m_heckjr Follow Alexander K. UFC Des Moines looked like a glue factory convention on paper and it delivered that same energy in practice. Were there a few good fights? Sure, and we got a few finishes, but by and large, this was an Apex level event that the poor folks in Iowa paid prime rates for. Shameful promoting by UFC. There was a moment that brought almost all MMA fans together, though. That was when Reinier de Ridder stopped Bo Nickal with a vicious knee after softening him up for the entirety of the fight to that point. Rejoice! Now, let's check out the results and bonuses while we're here.MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. When you frame a case around negligence, you'll likely get a modest verdict or none at all. But when you reframe it as a story of betrayal, the jury's desire for retribution can dramatically increase your award—a strategy that helped Daniel Rodriguez secure a $35 million Iowa verdict, the state's largest motor vehicle crash verdict in history. In conversation with host Dan Ambrose, Daniel shares his approach to long-form opening statements using chapter-based storytelling, his techniques for building rapport with witnesses, and his powerful case-framing methods learned from David Clark. Countering conventional wisdom that openings should be brief, Daniel reveals why his openings run 75 to 120 minutes and how this structure transforms outcomes.
