We cry a little into our brunch beer over Buster Posey's retirement. Our World Series wrap up includes Pottymouth's dream job, Joc's Mardis Gras moment, Freddie, Eddie, and Jorge, and a better way to honor 44 than just playing with numbers. Collective bargaining takes center stage so we talk potential lock-out both practically and optically. It's officially Hot Stove time so we lay out themes to watch this week including qualifying offers, opt ins, and opt outs, Baseball is not over! Winter ball is in full swing and Pottymouth's guide is a great place to start. MLB favorites are playing in LIDOM, which you can see on MLBTV, and LBPRC just struck a deal with FOX to make it easier for you to watch Puerto Rican baseball. All this and LVBP and CPBL too! Lastly we do some crosstraining with the NFL to drive home a point that even previously favored QBs can be wingnut anti-vaxxers. We say bobblehead color problem, shiny baseball jacket, and “idioma anglosajón”Get vaxxed, fight the man, and find us on Twitter @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick host Ben Kaspick answers questions from listeners about the San Francisco Giants' offseason. Among the questions asked and answered are: Thoughts on the Giants going for one of the four Braves outfielders if they don't re-sign? Eddie Rosario and Jorge Soler are free agents; Adam Duvall and Joc Pederson have options. Why haven't the Giants extended Gabe Kapler? Isn't his contract up next year? Never want a lame duck manager. Seems the Giants would be smart to try to extend Farhan Zaidi too, while they're at it. How is a potential universal designated hitter going to change the Giants off-season plans? Do you think the idea of the Giants having to overpay hitters to lure them to the Bay are finally over with, now that they led the league in HR? More likely to come back: Brandon Belt or Kris Bryant. Our Halloween episode has Patti briefly revisiting 1995, a very scary year, in which she first built her sportsgrudge against the Atlanta Team. But now she loves “those Hammers guys” including effectively wild Ian Anderson, the magical Eddie Rosario, and the only Austin left standing. Pottymouth reminds us of the treasure that is Dusty Baker, the first manager to take five teams to the postseason, and possibly the only to prune his family vineyards *and* live through the Monterey Pop Festival at age 18 (the family station wagon made it too). Altuve makes moves on postseason homerun records, but Manny being Manny seems safe for now. Get your taco on Thursday - Thanks, Ozzie.Odd for us to give credit to Bob Nightengale but he earns it for not using Atlanta's team name in his USA Today pieces. The Hammers miss an opportunity to truly honor Henry Aaron by not announcing a team name change during the ceremony. Fox makes no effort to Chop the Chop, featuring it in crowd shots. Smuck and Boltz never mention it, or the war chant, while openly discussing the cheating chants. Rob Manfred defends it based on local markets and perceived support by the *regional* Native American community -- for a National Pastime? There's now footage of a certain former president joining in on the Chop, albeit badly, so that's really all you need to know. Please PETA, use your powers for good instead of distracting us with your push to rename the bullpen the “arm barn.” Although that did give us a gem of a tune from Grant Brisbee. We are looking forward to seeing how much the Cleveland Baseball Team will have to pay the local roller derby team for use of the name “Guardians.” It's going to be fun to watch Bob Melvin manage the Padres, a team with money, and we've got our eye on Raquel Ferreira in the Mets GM conversation. The MLBPA's Player's Choice awards feature Ryan Mountcastle among other Patti BFs. The untimely passing of NESN broadcasting great, Jerry “Rem Dawg” Remy brings all the feels for Pottymouth, including some warm and hilarious memories.Do you have the MLBTV postseason package? You could be watching Dominican winter ball! LIDOM features Tio Albert, Fernando Rodney, and Willi Castro this year -- no excuses. Pottymouth's Cardenales de Lara are undefeated in the LVBP, and finals have started in the Puerto Rican women's league. Pottymouth celebrates it all by teaching us baseball vocabulary in Spanish. We say Halle Berry, Kiss the Sky, and vegan hot dogs.Get vaxxed, fight the man, and find us on Twitter @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. The October Classic is underway! Matthew and Toby are joined by Addisu Demissie, an Atlanta fan who also managed Cory Booker's presidential campaign, and Ross Morales Rocketto, a Houston fan who also co-founded Run for Something. No one outside of those teams' two cities is particularly thrilled by this World Series match-up, so Ross and Addisu break down how their clubs got here and do their best to get Battery Mates Nation to root for (or against) them.
Introduction: Host Michael Rand dissects the Timberwolves' big 113-108 victory on Wednesday night in Milwaukee. You'll hear postgame comments from Anthony Edwards and head coach Chris Finch postgame as well as a "voicemail" from Star Tribune beat writer Chris Hine with all the key points of the game. The Wolves' Big Three came up big at various moments, and their defensive rebounding was much better with Jarred Vanderbilt in the starting lineup. 11:00: Former Twins pitcher Glen Perkins joins the show to talk about his old teammate Eddie Rosario and all the success he is having in the playoffs. It's a great perspective not only about what makes Rosario great but also about why the Twins weren't necessarily wrong to let him go. 23:00: Minnesota United lost precious ground in the MLS playoff race when it lost 2-1 in Vancouver on Wednesday, after which head coach Adrian Heath had pointed comments about the team's defense. With just two games left in the season, the Loons are on the outside looking in.

David Schoenfield joins Buster to discuss Charlie Morton going down with a broken leg, the pressure now on the Braves, the Atlanta bullpen hitting its stride and a head-scratcher from Framber Valdez. Then, Jessica Mendoza stops by after a tornado warning in Houston to talk about wanting to record the podcast after last night's game, Morton pitching on a broken leg, what's happening with Alex Bregman, the World Series as an event and tales from the pregame dugout. Later, Sarah Langs plays The Numbers game with notes on Jorge Soler's leadoff home run, Eddie Rosario's hitting streak and the Astros' home losing streak in the World Series.
Introduction: Host Michael Rand takes a spin through his list of the 25 best Timberwolves players of all-time. Was it a difficult task? Yes. Were there some snubs? Maybe. Was there a surprise with the No. 1 player? Um, no. 9:00: Columnist Chip Scoggins joins the show to provide insight into his latest Football Across Minnesota column and to share some opinions about the Gophers football team, the Wolves and the Wild. Scoggins and Rand talked about the Gophers' overpowering performance on both sides of the line of scrimmage on Saturday, Anthony Edwards' continuing evolution as a leader for the Wolves and the Wild's promising start thanks to much better team speed. 27:00: Rand takes note of two more Eddie Rosario hits in Game 1 of the World Series -- another win for Atlanta and another game that took four-plus hours. And a Gophers women's basketball recruiting nugget that should give you hope for the future.
Patti and the Pottymouth break down the evils of the World Series teams and the pros come down to I love Dusty vs. I love those guys. Yup, Pottymouth is in for the Trashtros and Patti throws down for the Hammers. In our efforts to show one team's terrible is not quite as bad as the other team's terrible, Pottymouth points out the small number of cheaters still left on the Houston team, and Patti suggests a 437 point plan to eliminate The Chop, including crosstraining with FIFA.Both LCS MVPs are NCiB boyfriends! Yordan Alvarez, who personally out-hit the entire Red Sox team for a few games, is Patti's Houston BF this year, and the Hammers' (and former Guardian) Eddie Rosario, with two 4-4 games, is Pottymouth's former Twins BF. We have some fun with Kyle from Waltham, Jose Siri's dance moves, and more details than you knew you needed on Joc's pearls. We provide a more accurate replacement for the phrase “legal troubles.”We grade team participation in Spirit Day, to take a stand against bullying of LGBTQ+ youth, on a scale of Rangers to Cardinals. Patti goes Hammers in seven, Pottymouth calls Hammers in six. We say appropriately tipsy, Texas Gay Rodeo Association, and “you're dead to me.”Get vaxxed, fight the man, and find us on Twitter @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. Columnist Patrick Reusse joins host Michael Rand for a look back at the weekend in sports as only they can provide. 3:00: Even without the Vikings playing, it was a busy weekend -- including another impressive win by P.J. Fleck's Gophers football team. Minnesota is now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten, good enough for a tie atop the West standings. With two more winnable games on the horizon before a showdown with Iowa, it's Ok to think big. 11:00: Former Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario was named MVP of the National League Championship Series with Atlanta and will now play in the World Series for the first time. Reusse weighs in on all that makes Rosario great. 20:00: Reusse watched the Gophers volleyball team over the weekend and was concerned about a certain level of slippage from that program. Then the final three sets against Ohio State assuaged those fears. 28:00: The Wolves are 2-0 and playing defense (at least so far). The Wild is 4-1 even after a clunker on Sunday. There's plenty to like from both.

Today's word of the day is ‘momentum' as in who has the momentum, who lost the momentum, where'd it go!? The Red Sox had the momentum after three games of the ALCS against the Astros… how's that going? Did the Astros steal the momentum now? Houston's bats are alive, Valdez pitched a gem, and now the Astros are one game away from the World Series. (9:48) The Atlanta Braves are one game away from the World Series. Pitcher scratched late and it doesn't matter. Eddie Rosario is making his name known. Freddie Freeman is back to hitting long balls. And the highest paid team in MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers, are on the ropes. (18:50) NPPOD. (21:35) Review: Lorelei. (25:48) The Sacramento Kings are in a big fight with former No. 2 pick Marvin Bagley. Bagley's agent just went nuclear on the Kings. Uh Oh. (31:30) Deshaun Watson trade could be happening. Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, wants to make the trade happen. The GM and coach don't want it done. We know about the allegations against Watson and him not playing for the Texans — but he has yet to be suspended. (39:55) NFL settlement is taking place on concussions and it's major news. The NFL agreed to end race-based adjustments in dementia testing. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
