Today we take a trip to old New York, which I'm told was once New Amsterdam. It's full of Daleks, Pig-Men, and authentic American accents!
Wow a human Dalek and Doctor Who in 1930s America. What's not to love? Also, amazing social commentary in these episodes. Okay they're not great, but they're a bit of fun with some complex ideas that could have been developed a little better. 2007 - This David Tennant 2 parter has the Daleks in New York City and they are up to no good. Why are Daleks taking people from the city? What are they doing with the Empire State Building construction? What are those pig things? Why do we have to watch this story again? Well, we needed to discuss this for our listeners so we could tell them if the episodes were any good. They aren't. Our favourite shouty dustbins are back, and this time they're stateside. Does a Human/Dalek hybrid ruin the potential of a great story? Do pig slaves just make the whole thing weird? Wait, is that guy Spider-Man? Send us your questions for our next episode over on Twitter: @kasterpod.

I remember very clearly the first time that I watched as the ninth Doctor looked on to a chained and diminished Dalek and recoiled back in fear. I realized after that episode and the coinciding podcast that Daleks were a severe threat. Some weeks after the episode, I had a nightmare where I woke up after hearing the Dalek battle cry, “Exterminate!” I’ve seen much more from the Daleks, including an impressive fight between Dalek and Cybermen. Somehow, try as the Doctor might, the Dalek continue to escape annihilation. So now, the Doctor has to battle with them in the depression-era New York, and the whole thing starts in a theater. Ok, I am ALL in on this.Series 3 - Episode 4 - Daleks in ManhattanTo help me make sure that I don’t miss anything, I bring back my Dalek expert, Jon Soble. To support the show, visit my Patreon site at:www.patreon.com/daniellevainYou can also support the show by checking out our merchandise at:https://www.cgbeast.com/first-time-lord-merchSubscribe to First Time Lord using your favorite podcasting software or use the links below:Apple PodcastSpotifyGoogle Podcast

Pigs in Space: Well actually in the Empire State Building and infused with human scum from Hooverville. We Daleks want to travel high in the sky in our elevators of doom while we transform Dalek Sec into Human/Dalek hybrid and we experiment on ways to improve our race. We have word that Colin may not like us, but Jase is the perfect example of a potential final experiment. Word is still out on Shelby as she is still waiting for processing. We watch out for the Doctor who seems to have yet another human by his side.

Hey everyone! Jaime and I are trying to make up for some lost time by doubling up on episodes this time around, plus Jaime really kind of wanted to get past this couple episodes because they're not her favorite. She's not wrong about how drawn-out this story feels. There are lots of weird side-quests going on that just sort of confuse everything, and serve no purpose other than to give Martha something to do because apparently she's no us in the plot between Dalek-Sec and the Doctor. Overall, though, nothing in this episode is quite as great a sin as the design of Dalek-Sec, who shall haunt my dreams forever. Thanks for listening, and we will see you soon with a new episode!
Jill, Alex, Sam, Cody and Jake discuss Daleks In Manhattan and Evolution of The Daleks. Cody might be the biggest fan in the world of the Dalek/Human hybrid, while Sam tries to break the record for most times yawning in a podcast!

We take a long, sometimes faltering look at one of the most powerful Doctor Who episodes we’ve seen in a long time. “Rosa” is a stunningly accurate, always respectful telling of the civil rights pioneer’s story. Does it also work as an episode of Doctor Who? Does that even matter? Two extremely white people try their best to capture the nuances of an episode that entirely deserves nuanced discussion. Plus we go on some odd tangents about one-shot villains and big American guest stars. Oh, and we don’t forget to roast “The Shakespeare Code” and Andrew Garfield’s incredible American accent in “Daleks In Manhattan”, so fear not.

So many hoovers, so little time. And now, Martha Jones in her first two parter. Featuring the Daleks, because bloody hell do the Daleks ever not appear? First up, are you in the Chicago area and interested in going to a potential live episode on Saturday, October 14? Let us know if you are! Now, to business: We look at a pair of maligned historical Dalek stories, and we mostly conclude that, yeah, these stories deserve some maligning. "Daleks In Manhattan"/"Evolution Of The Daleks" so obviously wants to be a dumb sci-fi B-movie, but it can't quite find the right way to combine its theoretically weighty subject matter with that sense of fun. Also, it's time to roast Andrew Garfield's Tennessee accent, because my goodness. "Victory Of The Daleks," on the other hand, does at least have some really lovely work from Karen Gillan, and Alasdair has a theory to help you find something interesting in this one. Look, neither of these is good, but we had a lot of fun discussing them regardless, so this is well worth the listen. And join us next week for a big three-story River Songstravaganza with "Silence In The Library"/"The Forest Of The Dead," "The Wedding Of River Song," and "The Husbands Of River Song"!

Jason and Paul continue right along with their Dalek episode reviews, with "Daleks in Manhattan" and "Evolution of the Daleks" featuring David Tennant as the 10th Doctor! Jason has one very glaring issue with this story and it won't take you long to figure out what that is. So watch out for pig slaves, stay away from the Empire State Building, and run when you hear the words "Final Experiment!"
A sequence of “final" experiments, pig chaps, and what is ostensibly a Monoid with a Dalek for a hat.
"This is an ambulance!!" This month: three Doctor Who adventures set in America but (for the most part) filmed elsewhere in the world. We look at the First Doctor's rootin' tootin' adventure at the OK Corral with The Gunfighters, the Tenth Doctor's porcine encounter with Daleks In Manhattan, and the Eighth Doctor's attempts to stave off the millennium bug in, er, Doctor Who (aka The TV Movie). Along the way, Jim reveals all about his one visit to a Doctor Who convention, Matt turns out to be a terrible house guest, and John charms us with a song. Contains strong language from the start!
Chelsea and Zen are on top of the woild with todays two-parter featuring their take a 'perfect' Manhattan, the return of the Daleks, crazy terrible American accents, strange pig men and some serious Spider-Man nerding out.

After what seems like a lifetime, Phil and Paul finally return to their series 3 retrospective with Daleks In Manhattan. Has time been kind to this story or is it still the big mess that they remembered? Rest assured, both Paul and Phil give a reasoned critique but during the course of their dissection, Phil puts on a showgirl voice, Paul manages to insult Wales and quickly backtracks and the whole conversation degenerates into hardcore pornography. And in the news this week, the saga of the recovered (or not recovered) missing episodes is discussed, Roath Lock will get Royal patronage, Matt Smiths thank you to cast, crew and fans and last and by no means least, Omega's Tat Corner makes it's triumphant return wherein you will hear the phrase "ring hanger".
