It was only a year into the Doctor Who revival of 2005 that David Tennant took over as the titular Time Lord. Would the show survive changing its lead so soon when it had barely found its feet? Four years later, we scarcely had to wonder, as arguably the most popular incarnation of the new era (and possibly all time) said goodbye. (Well, technically he said "I don't want to go", but still...) With David Tennant set to return, albeit briefly, as the 14th Doctor in 2023's three-part 60th anniversary special, Vinnk and Sean look back at his original, trail-blazing run that began 18 years ago on Christmas Day, and preview what's to come as he dons his trademark Converse once more. Starring: * David Tennant - The Doctor * Billie Piper - Rose Tyler * John Barrowman - Captain Jack Harkness * Freema Agyeman - Dr. Martha Jones * Derek Jacobi - Professor Yana * John Simm - The Master * Catherine Tate - Donna Noble Available on Max. After a turbulent year of sacrifice and hardship, Medical Director Max Goodwin and the team at New Amsterdam begin a well-deserved new chapter in their lives. The opening episode, titled "More Joy," reflects both the drive of characters and the tone of season four. More joy: How can we find it, and how can we hold on to it? For Max that means acknowledging and surrendering to his long simmering feelings towards Dr. Helen Sharpe. While this new relationship brings its own set of challenges, Max continues his optimistic - and quixotic - quest to improve our nation's healthcare system. Continuing to navigate their own personal journeys - including Dr. Frome's new career, Dr. Bloom's relationship with Dr. Leyla Shinwari, who is now her resident, and Dr. Reynolds' personal entanglements - the doctors will strive to embrace the joy and successes in their lives. But there is a surprise in store for our heroes. Dr. Veronica Fuentes is joining the New Amsterdam team to help turn around the overburdened and underfunded hospital. Her first order of business will be to tear down every progressive program Max has erected. Max will have his work cut out for him if he is going to outwit this calm, poised and fearless fixer. "New Amsterdam" is inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer's memoir "Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital" and his 15 years as medical director at the hospital. The cast includes Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman and Jocko Sims, with Tyler Labine. Michelle Forbes guest stars as Dr. Fuentes. David Schulner and Peter Horton executive produce along with Michael Slovis, David Foster, Aaron Ginsburg, Erika Green Swafford and Shaun Cassidy. She shares what is was like being on set with fellow British cast mates (Freema Agyeman, of BBC's Doctor Who fame, who portrays oncologist “Dr. Helene Sharpe” and Janet Montgomery, who plays “Dr. Lauren Bloom”– how both she and Montgomery were pregnant in real life while Lisa's character was also pregnant in the show. And how she returned to film the final episode of Season just 2 two-weeks after giving birth. Adjusting to life back in the UK where her and her family have now been residing for nearly a year, Lisa recently completed filming another Netflix series (again in an American accent) and has been teaching young actors hoping to enter the acting profession. A trained ballet dancer and singer, Lisa knew early on that she wanted to perform and couldn't imagine doing anything else. She has consistently performed in dance-oriented shows such as Alice and the Others at Sadler's Wells and Defile at the Royal Opera House. She also played Sally Bowles in Cabaret for the Reprise Theatre Company at the Freud Playhouse where she won the LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Lead Performance. After an introduction which is sure to anger the large anti-vax population, Samantha suggests New Amsterdam, a show destined to fill the Grey’s Anatomy shaped hole in your heart, Indy is deep in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and then we preview next week’s movie; the 2010 Romantic Comedy Leap year. New Amsterdam is an American medical drama television series, based on the book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer, that premiered on September 25, 2018 on NBC. The series was created by David Schulner and stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. Avatar: The Last Airbender, known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang in some regions, is an American animated television series produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios. It was co-created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, with Aaron Ehasz as head writer. It aired on Nickelodeon for three seasons, from February 2005 to July 2008.[2] Avatar is set in an Asiatic-like world in which some people can manipulate one of the four elements—water, earth, fire, or air—with telekinetic variants of the Chinese martial arts known as "bending". The only individual who can bend all four elements, the "Avatar", is responsible for maintaining harmony between the world's four nations, and serves as the bridge between the spirit world and the physical world. The show is presented in a style that combines anime with American cartoons, and relies on the imagery of mainly East Asian culture, with some South Asian, New World, and Inuit and Sireniki influences.   New Amsterdam Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvMCbzrToAo&ab_channel=JoBloStreaming%26TVTrailers Avatar: The Last Airbender Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz7EsOua-D4&ab_channel=FramePlay-MediaConservatory Leap Year Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrlQBsd8LsE&ab_channel=MovieclipsClassicTrailers   An article on HIV Vaccines: https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/features/will-there-ever-be-an-hiv-vaccine/   Watch recent & upcoming ILTYS2 movies here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mvRuuLuwjP26n_138AYxnsW0Zj-iGkqc?usp=sharing

Lead Actors' Prior "Who" AppearancesIt's no surprise that, with so many actors appearing in "Doctor Who," some get "re-cast" in other Whovian roles throughout the years. However, a few of the main actors in the franchise previously appeared in other episodes. Jessica and Phillip look at Eve Myles appearing as a guest star before moving on to "Torchwood," and Freema Agyeman appearing in a Tenth Doctor story before being cast as the new Tenth Doctor companion. They then do an in-depth discussion of "The Fires of Pompeii," with guest actors Karen Gillan and Peter Capaldi before they became, respectively, a companion and a Doctor.Peter Capaldi was not the first Doctor to appear previously in the franchise as a guest role - in their look into the TARDIS library, the couple examine the Fifth Doctor story "Arc of Infinity," with a Gallifreyan security chief played by soon-to-be-Doctor Colin Baker.Do you think all actors' prior appearances in "Doctor Who" should be tied together in their characters' stories?

In this episode, Daniel and Shana discuss all of the New Who Companions, starting with the six "main companions" and moving on to a discussion of the more minor characters. We should have split this into two parts, but figured what the hell? Consider it a bonus-sized episode of Oi! Spaceman. Daniel: Twitter Tumblr Shana: Twitter Tumblr Show Notes: Main Topic: New Who Companions. Introducing ourselves with Twitter and Tumblr. A multilingual podcast. Shana ruins the surprise. Does Shana think there should be a female Doctor? Ignoring Moffat's writing. A thank-you to the couple of dozen listeners we've accumulated. Moffat shouldn't write a female Doctor. Blindsiding Shana. Female representation behind-the-scenes in Doctor Who. "Enlightenment" and the Black Guardian Trilogy. The Six Major New Who Companions. Wilf is in surprisingly many episodes. Rose and kissing in Doctor Who. Daniel makes an overly-gendered assumption. Comparing the Doctor to James Bond. Family TV and representations of sexuality. Kissing as a fundamental difference between Clasic and New Who. Shana wishes some of the New Who Companions were more developed. Shana loves how Rose changes over her time in the series. All of the New Who companions are able to rise to the challenges set before them. Martha takes a lot of flack for replacing Rose. Shana wants to pretend she's friends with Freema Agyeman. The Doctor as a character who is by his nature sexually attractive. Shana identifies with Martha's relationship with the Doctor. Martha's romantic feelings for the Doctor being a very small part of the character. Shana wishes for a bit more action-oriented screentime for Martha. Martha should have been the spin-off show. Donna is our favorite, but Daniel has a very healthy heterosexual attraction to Martha. Donna works as a character because of Catherine Tate and David Tennant's great chemistry. Shana is a huge Ood fangirl, and calls "Planet of the Ood" her favorite New Who episode. Donna not being a "hot piece of ass," but just a really good friend of the Doctor. Talking about Catherine Tate's fame in Britain versus her presence in Doctor Who. David Tennant and Peter Capaldi as fanboys versus someone less familiar with the content. Amy and Rory as a unit. Daniel proves his inability to read. Drawing direct parallels between Rose and Amy. Shana is confused about what happens with Amy. Unmotivated changes in Amy's profession. Policewoman Amy. Amy and male gaze. No emotional change at the fact of losing a daughter. Rory as "Amy's companion." Imagining switching the genders of Amy and Rory. Rory and Amy's relationship as a unhealthy one. Comparing the number of Clara's episodes with other (much more minor) Doctor Who characters. Clara as a very classic-looking companion. Basic questions about Clara's experience being left unanswered in the last couple of episodes. Hating on the Mystery Girl storyline. Moving on to the "minor companions." Mickey the Idiot eventually gets to be a badass who marries Martha. Drawing a line between Mickey and Rory. We like to see companions grow and discover greatness because of their time with the Doctor. Daniel and Shana fucking love Jack Harkness. Jack Harkness as portrayed as a sort of ideally open-minded human. Jack as a foil for the Ninth Doctor. Daniel has no idea which episode Shana is talking about around 1:03. Jack Harkness as a straight line to River Song. Daniel and Shana really WANT to love River Song. Loving Chantho. Talking about the bottom-most tier of companions. Shana doesn't count Adam as a companion; he's a puppy on the TARDIS. A love letter to Wilfred Mott. Covering the one-off companions from the specials. Astrid Peth as Rose 2.0. Astrid and Lady Christina as models for one-off companions. We've basically forgotten the whole of "Planet of the Dead" and "The Waters of Mars." Shana loves Craig and Daniel hates sitcom-Who. Daniel can't pronounce "apotheosis." Then Daniel makes a joke that falls completely flat. Wishing we could see a Vastra/Jenny spinoff. Sarah Jane is a New Who companion thanks to "School Reunion," dammit! The companions as possible models for what a female Doctor might be like. Telling versus showing in RTF versus Moffat.

Steven Moffat to be Doctor Who Lead Writer and Executive Producer Category: Wales; TV Drama; BBC One Date: 20.05.2008 Printable version BBC Wales and BBC Drama has announced that BAFTA and Hugo Award-winning writer Steven Moffat will succeed Russell T Davies as Lead Writer and Executive Producer of the fifth series of Doctor Who, which will broadcast on BBC One in 2010. Moffat has penned some of the series' most unforgettable and acclaimed episodes, including Blink, with its terrifying weeping angels, for which he was awarded the BAFTA Writer Award 2008 on Sunday 11 May. His previous work on Doctor Who includes The Girl In The Fireplace for series two, which earned him his second Hugo Award. His first was for the series one two-parter The Empty Child, which became famous for its terrifying refrain "Are you my mummy?" For the current series, Moffat has written Silence In The Library, a two-parter starring Alex Kingston which transmits on 31 May and 7 June 2008 on BBC One. Steven's career began with the landmark ITV children's drama Press Gang in 1989, for which he won his first Bafta. Coupling, the hugely popular and award-winning sitcom he created and wrote for BBC Two, began in 2000 and ran for four seasons. Jekyll, his six-part thriller starring James Nesbitt and Michelle Ryan, transmitted on BBC One last year. Steven will continue as one of the directors on the board of Hartswood Films which produced Coupling and Jekyll, where he is also working on his new comedy Adam & Eve with wife Sue Vertue. He has just delivered the screenplay for Tintin – the first instalment of the trilogy of films featuring the iconic Belgian comic-strip hero – to Steven Spielberg who will direct it for DreamWorks. Thomas Sangster and Andy Serkis will star. Steven Moffat says: "My entire career has been a Secret Plan to get this job. I applied before but I got knocked back 'cos the BBC wanted someone else. Also I was seven. "Anyway, I'm glad the BBC has finally seen the light, and it's a huge honour to be following Russell into the best - and the toughest - job in television. I say toughest 'cos Russell's at my window right now, pointing and laughing." Lead Writer and Executive Producer Russell T Davies says: "It's been a delight and an honour working with Steven, and I can't wait to see where his extraordinary imagination takes the Doctor. Best of all, I get to be a viewer again, watching on a Saturday night!" Jane Tranter, Controller, BBC Fiction, says: "Scripts and writers are at the heart of what BBC Drama is all about, and especially at the heart of Doctor Who. The past four series have been brilliantly helmed by the spectacularly talented Russell T Davies. "As Lead Writer and Executive Producer, he has overseen the creative direction and detail of the 21st century relaunch of Doctor Who and we are delighted to have his continued presence on the specials over the next 18 months. "But the challenge and excitement of the fifth series is now being handed to Steven Moffat. The Tardis couldn't be in safer hands. Steven's talents on both Doctor Who and beyond are well known. He is a writer of glittering brilliance, comedy and depth, with an extraordinary imagination and a unique voice. "Steven has a wonderful mix of being a committed Doctor Who fan and a true artist, and his plans for the next series are totally thrilling." The announcement follows the news that Piers Wenger will take over the role of Executive Producer from Julie Gardner on series five of Doctor Who. Piers Wenger says: "The challenge of taking Doctor Who to a new future is a huge and thrilling one and BBC Wales is blessed to have someone with Steven's extraordinary talent in charge. "His imagination and creativity have already given birth to some of the series' most unforgettable monsters though in this instance no-one need fear; time, space and the future of The Doctor are safe with him." Wenger and Moffat are already working closely together on the planning of the series. Menna Richards, Controller, BBC Wales, says: "BBC Wales is very proud of Doctor Who's phenomenal success. Steven Moffat is an extraordinary talent and we are very much looking forward to him joining the Doctor Who team." Series four has achieved some of the show's highest audience figures to date and forthcoming episodes feature a stellar line-up of guests including Lesley Sharp, Lindsey Coulson, Alex Kingston, Colin Salmon and Michael Brandon. Freema Agyeman and Billie Piper – The Doctor's two former companions – have also returned to assist The Doctor in series four. Doctor Who will return in 2009 with four specials, and the full-length fifth series is currently scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One in Spring 2010. SH

Contents [] // [] Synopsis The and set off on an adventure through space to find the datachips to unlock The Infinite, a huge spaceship that can grant people their heart's desire. However, the evil is also searching for the ship. [] Plot The and , animated. An alien named has set his sights on Earth, planning to compress its population into diamonds. The and arrive on his ship to stop him. The Doctor threatens him with a spoon, which Baltazar cuts in half with his metal claw hand. The spoon happens to be made of a special fungus, which when introduced to the metal ship quickly begins to rust it. As the ship falls apart, the Doctor frees Baltazar's huge metallic bird, Caw, who carries Baltazar away. The Doctor muses that Baltazar will end up on the ice prison planet Volag-Noc at some point. Some time later, Caw takes the Doctor and Martha to his home planet, where he gives Martha a brooch as a gift. He also spits up a datachip, explaining that it and three others like it hold the location of The Infinite, an ancient spaceship that can grant people their heart's desire. Each datachip leads to the next one. At first unwilling to search for it, the Doctor is forced to when Caw notes that Baltazar has a copy of the datachip. As the two set off on their quest, Caw is revealed to be working for Baltazar. The first chip leads to the planet Boukan, where the pirate captain Kaliko is raiding the living oil rigs they find there. She is wearing the next datachip as an earring. Assuming the Doctor and Martha to be spies for the oil companies, Kaliko tells her crew of skeletons to throw them overboard, unaware that her first mate, Mr. Swabb Mate, is in fact the spy. Swabb stages a mutiny and has the oil rigs shoot down the ship, but their poor aim causes them to scatter the crew in doing so. After Swabb is knocked out, the Doctor reveals the reason for their visit to Kaliko. She tries to escape in a pod, but is found murdered after landing near the TARDIS. With nothing left to do, the Doctor and Martha take her datachip and follow it to the next one. The next chip is on the planet Myarr, being used as a necklace by a lizard alien named Mergrass. Mergrass has been hired to advise the Mantasphids, alien bugs, on military strategy against the humans attacking them, but in reality is little more than a gun-runner. During an attack by the humans, a pilot is captured. He reveals that the Mantasphids invaded the planet for its fertile dung, and that the humans were there first. To rid themselves of the bugs, the humans have decided to bomb the entire area. The Mantasphid Queen turns to Mergrass for help, but is unwilling to pay him for it, and as such he refuses to arm the weapons he provided her with. As Mergrass leaves, the Doctor is forced to defuse the situation by impersonating the supposed pirate-master of the Mantasphid, which proves successful. Quickly telling the pilot to work with the Mantasphid for the benefit of both species, he follows after Mergrass. By this point, Mergrass has also been killed, so again the Doctor and Martha take the left-behind datachip and head for the next plant. The final datachip is on the ice prison planet Volag-Noc. Upon arriving, the Doctor is quickly identified as a wanted criminal and dumped in a cell with a damaged robot. Martha is taken to the Governor of the facility, a human named Gurney. He has the final datachip locked in a safe. As they discuss things, both Martha and the Doctor discover that Gurney isn't the Governor, but one of the prisoners. The robot Locke who is sharing the Doctor's cell is in fact the Governor, and the Doctor shouldn't have been put in the cell in the first place. Locke decides that all the prisoners are irredeemable and orders their execution, giving Gurney a chance to shoot Locke and escape with the datachip. The Doctor manages to prevent the prisoners' execution. On the surface, Martha catches up to Gurney, but can do little to stop him without a weapon. At the same time, however, Baltazar arrives riding Caw. Gurney shoots down Caw, but is apparently dispatched by Baltazar off-screen. Caw dies from the damage caused by Gurney's shot while the Doctor and Martha comfort him. Baltazar then takes the two hostage, forcing the Doctor to show the way to The Infinite. He also reveals that Martha's "brooch" is actually Squawk, Caw's child, which flies to the body of his parent. Once the Doctor locks in The Infinite's location, Baltazar takes control of the TARDIS — as flying the TARDIS involves little more than a button-press, he no longer needs the Doctor. He leaves the Doctor to perish in the snow. On The Infinite, Baltazar orders Martha to find the hold, which she does by accidentally falling through the deck. In the hold, Martha finds the Doctor waiting for her, but quickly realises that it is a creation of the ship: the ship is doing as promised. The real Doctor is close by, however, riding a matured Squawk. He quickly knocks Baltazar out and comes to Martha's aid. The Doctor informs her she just has to reject the vision, which she does, causing it to fade away. The Infinite tries to find the Doctor's heart's desire but he wards it off. He explains that for him it has been nearly three years, in which time he weened Squawk and helped re-establish Volag-Noc, making sure to tone down the somewhat homicidal Governor. He further explains that the heart's desires granted by The Infinite are little more than illusions, the last spark of whatever powerful being died within its walls. Baltazar has not yet realised this; he is standing in a treasure, oblivious to Martha's warnings about the illusion. The Doctor uses his sonic screwdriver to vibrate the wreckage, causing the ship to fall apart.
