This week we’ve got a special mix from one of the LAMP family’s very own rising stars, Keyspan, who laced us with not one but two unreleased cuts! Over the past year with LAMP Keyspan has been making waves in the LA underground, buoyed by the release of his debut single "As Within” (https://fanlink.to/As-Within) which garnered support from the likes of Dancing Astronaut and Deep House Amsterdam. Just weeks ago, Keyspan contributed a cranking remix to our latest SPECTRUMS compilation which was premiered by heavyweight tastemakers @gouranga . He’s also been heating up LA dancefloors in 2019 including two standout sets at The Echo (providing support for local heroes Masha and Rambo), as well as at Pattern Bar for our own SPECTRUMS album release party. With today’s LAMP mix, Keyspan serves up an expertly paced tour de force through his soulful, diverse, and genre-defying sonic palette - weaving elements of disco, deep house, afro house, and techno before bringing the whole thing full-circle with a sense of graceful bittersweetness throughout. The mix features an absolute dinger of an unreleased Keyspan original mid-way through which we are eager to get onto our USBs when it drops later in 2019, and closes with Keyspan’s unreleased edit of Two Another’s soulful R&B jam Waiting On You. Enjoy today’s guest mix and stay tuned for Keyspan’s upcoming releases, as well as a host of summertime sets from the man himself in Los Angeles and San Diego. As always, thanks for listening! The Palomaesque is a Mezcal-based cocktail. Mezcal is not simply an alcoholic beverage among many others, Mezcal is Mexico’s spirit and endowed with nearly magical powers. As consuming Meczal is a social act, so is listening to Tara Brooks’ hypnotizing sets. Whether playing at an intimate club, a packed festival or a magical sunrise deep in the Playa, Tara Brooks music envelopes the crowd. What started as a hobby in Houston’s rave scene of the 90s developed to an impressive career. Tara’s bookings have taken her all over. She is a resident at Desert Hearts, a festival in Southern California. Tara also graced the decks of Citifox LA, the BPM Festival, the famous Robot Heart bus at Burning Man. In her Hometown Los Angeles, she is a resident at Subtract Music and every so often, Tara heads to international festival such as the Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia most recently. The latest studio work includes releases and mixes on the likes of Akbal Music, Kindisch, Einmusika Recordings, Exotic Refreshment, Balance Series, John Digweed's Transitions as well as Deep House Amsterdam and Electronic Groove. It was one of her early Robot Heart sets when Tara worked her magic on us. In her Palomaesque interpretation she went groovier and more soulful than usual, always featuring that unique Tara touch: deep driving grooves, hypnotic rhythms and haunting melodies. What a treat! Fewture and Freddie Glitch met in class in Amsterdam in 2011 and realized that apart from their shared obsession with music and nightlife, they both loved finding and exchanging new music, and really digged each others sounds. Fewture joined Freddie’s booking agency, Mother Music, and they started doing gigs together. They also started working on tunes soon after, when they stepped into Fewture’s studio in Amsterdam in 2012 for what proved to become a solid collaboration. Up until that point Fewture had been making more dub, old school and techno influenced tunes, while Freddie’s focus was more on nudisco and Chicago & San Francisco deep house. They found a common middle ground and started creating a new sound together. The creative match showed in the studio, where a smooth collaboration and a mix of influences led to a series of tunes that were received well and got support from the likes of Pete Tong, Kry Wolf, Jamie Trench, Crazy P, Quinten 909 and Marlon Hoffstadt. Their most recent release, a classic style house remix of Jamie Trench’s “Who You Gonna Call”, came out last month on Jamie’s latest and hyped Still Need It EP, and was called out, favored and featured on blogs, german radio Fritz.de and Deep House Amsterdam’s March Top 10 releases. The mix and match of influences doesn’t stop at their own productions though, as also in sets they try to build a broader musical experience through a variety of influences. This mix tackles a broad spectrum of genres and shows their musicality and ability to set a perfect vibe with their sound. They give us mix of unreleased stuff, vinyl only and classics.
