Portugal-based producer Fran Garay is quietly becoming one of the underground's most compelling voices. With releases on tastemaker labels like Balance Series, Mango Alley, and Univack, his sound balances deep emotion with sleek, club-focused production. Once a dubstep-obsessed kid recording radio hits on his mom's phone, Garay has evolved into an artist with a clear sonic identity—shaped by mentors like Eze Arias and driven by a hunger to create music that sticks. “When I fall in love with an artist, I dive into their story,” he says—something clearly reflected in his own ever-evolving journey. On this Balance Selections podcast, Fran delivers a dense 60 minutes of progressive sounds squarely aimed at the dancefloor. Featuring tracks from Simón Vuarambon, Ric Niels, and a host of Fran's own productions, this is the sound of an artist with a truly singular sonic identity. @frangaraymusic
With a trailblazing career spanning decades, Quivver has carved out a presence that's unmistakably his own. Last year's Balance Series compilation (alongside Dave Seaman) showcased an artist that is only getting more refined and compelling with each passing release. Quivver will perfom at Balance Croatia this coming August. @quivver_john_graham __________________________________________________ Balance Croatia 2025 Thu 7th Aug - Mon 11th Aug 2025 The Garden Resort, Tisno Head to www.balancecroatia.com for more info. It's hard to believe that Balance Music has been around for 25 years. When we first started, there was no grand plan—just a love for electronic music and a desire to share it. We never imagined that what began as a small project in Australia would grow into something that reaches people all over the world. Later this year, we'll mark this milestone with a huge venture as we travel to Croatia to host Balance Croatia Festival, the first-ever music festival dedicated to progressive and melodic house. This is going to be a moment 25 years in the making, and we couldn't be more excited! Last year, to commemorate the 25 years, close friend of the label and an artist we deeply admire, Joe Miller, curated a countdown of his favourite Balance Series mix and track entries—an effort that showcased his deep connection to the label's history. Now, as he prepares to release his new solo EP, Planet is Far Away, through Anjunadeep later this month, Joe has once again taken the time to celebrate 25 years of Balance Music with a mix that is hard to put into words. This incredible retrospective reimagines key moments from past Balance Series compilations, weaving them together in a way that feels both fresh and deeply familiar. We hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as we do. @joe-miller
Henry Saiz is an artist whose trend-defying sound is complex yet accessible. As an integral part of the Balance Music family, the Spanish artist has delivered timeless compilations. Here, he journeys through his personal favourite series entries with a mix that serves as a trip down Balance Series memory lane. Henry Saiz will perform at Balance Croatia. @henry-saiz __________________________________________________ Balance Croatia 2025 Thu 7th Aug - Mon 11th Aug 2025 The Garden Resort, Tisno Head to www.balancecroatia.com for more info. At the core of it all, a desire to connect people – be it through rhythm, events, or materializing projects. Whether DJ, radio host, event organizer, label collaborator, curator and producer, Niki moves along with spontaneity, and a get things done ethos. As a DJ, she's gradually amplified a signature sound fluidly grounded in deep, progressive, up and downtempo ranges. What carries her sets has less to do with genre and more to do with isolating a mood, and building up different currents around it. Her love for selecting and spreading these moods has seen her found Deep House Vancouver, join the Quetame label ranks, host the Allure show on Frisky Radio, and produce sets for channels around the world, sprinkling the pages of United We Stream, trndmsk, Deep House London and Balance Series. Niki also curates Souq Record's glistening annual compilation, Mirror for the Sun. From her days expressing herself on the guitar, raiding her parents' records, and exploring the worlds of grunge, jazz or psychedelic rock, and traditional Persian music, she's carried over the knack for complementing dark and light frequencies, gliding in between without shying away from diving in. Niki travels with a spring in her steps, leaving her mark at spaces like Fusion Festival, Kater Blau, Village Underground Londong, Shelter Amsterdam, Woomoon Ibiza and Storytellers Tulum, The Cityfox Experience, Do Not Sit on the Furniture, and regularly at Gorg-O-Mish in her native Vancouver, where mountains, ocean and city converge. Her down to earth and steady love for sound has shaped a willingness to always adapt to the situation at hand, making the best out of it on a musical and a human level.
An original inductee into the Balance Series with his seminal Balance 002, Kasey Taylor stands as a cornerstone of Australia's dance music scene. On the global stage, he's shaped the evolution of progressive through his label Vapour Recordings, a label which is preparing for its 30th anniversary celebrations in 2026 - a true testament to an artist whose remained steadfast in his creative vision. At the root of all the over-giving and over-self-reliance and much of the burnout and imbalance we experience is a big old old root ball called "OVER RESPONSIBILITY." We've been imprinted and conditioned by our society and family systems to take OVER Responsibility for the needs of people, projects, and the planet - and we have willingly put way too much on our shoulders and backs, often as an unconscious way to deal with our fear, feelings of being undervalued, and not enough (no matter how outwardly successful things may look). Consider this: What might have been in alignment to take responsibility for or embrace ownership of as your part, may not be in balance now or going forward. Wisdom: The systems (both those you create, and those you work and live within) will take everything you give them, and there will still be more to give. So... until we take a stand of self-advocacy + stop filling the gaps and taking more and more of the burden and responsibility, there is no incentive for anything to change ... in your work, team, family, friends, marriage, projects, even the things you care deeply about on the planet. Which is why we will dive deeper in Ep 235: Releasing OVER-Responsibility. Embracing Enough. (#3 of 3 in Burnout to Balance Series). Where are you taking OVER responsibility for: The people in your life - personally or professionally - individually or community? The projects you created or ones that were given to you? The needs of the planet - as important as they are and as passionate as you feel, you know you are holding way too much of the burden or responsibility? And then go deeper to reveal... What is your part? What is not your part? What may be your part but you are not sure? What are you afraid will happen (or not happen) if you step back or release? Then we end with a two ways to make it practical in your life now ... see wisdom inquires below. Tune in! With heart Christine p.s. TWO REQUESTS to help share the wisdom and connect with others. -- Share this episode with a friend and share the ways you've stepped into OVER Responsibility. Then support each other to get into balance. -- Leave a review with words that share why you listen or what others could expect. Stop? Shift? Practice: Self-Sustainability Stands I consider what is needed and what I have to/desire to give before I proceed. If the support and space is not there, I am not moving forward at full-speed. I stay in co-creation to reveal and proceed on the wise, harmonious path. I stay present to the real needs and stay focused on my part. I remember Grace is at the center of all challenges. I glide from Grace. I move from strength.
Many of us operate like banks that give more withdrawls than deposits, resulting in imbalances in our relationships, wellbeing, money, jobs, businesses and projects that lead to undue suffering, struggle, and sacrifice. We OVERgive - time, energy, resources, care, and mindshare -- to projects, people, our passion and our purpose. We UNDERReceive the time, energy, resources, care and mindshare we need and desire. As a result, eventually we burnout, become resentful, get sick and discouraged, or quit. We don't SEE the imbalance or the ways we OVEReffort, work, extend, etc. until we get to the drama, distress or dis-ease. One of the breakthroughs I discovered in all my research around burnout and sustainable success and wellbeing is that we don't have to wait until the extreme imbalance hits our bodies, beings, bank accounts, relationships or brains. We can use the power of Cyclical Living to pause (usually around March Equinox) and take a look around our life, work, relational, & wellbeing design, illuminate the imbalances, and then take simple but significant steps to make shift happen. Wisdom: If you can reveal the specific ways you overgive, you become empowered to shift the imbalances. Which is what we will do together in this Ep 234: Where Are You OVERGiving & UNDERReceiving? (#2 of 3 in Burnout to Balance Series). Where are you: Giving more than is needed? Giving more than is in harmony? Giving more than you can afford to give? Over extending? Over compensating? Over efforting? And then go deeper to reveal... Which OVERgiving imprints are running you, and where are the roots? Then you can make shifts that liberate you from patterns that don't serve anymore. Practices to re-wire the giving/receiving equations & expectations so the exchanges stay in balance vs become imbalanced. I do this survey of the landscape of my life, projects, relationships, purpose and work every year, because every year there is a new insight and something new to work with that supports me to do and see things differently. Tune in! With heart Christine p.s. TWO REQUESTS to help share the wisdom and connect with others. -- Share this with a friend and share your OVERgiving Imprints. Self esteem, self confidence, ability to take care of oneself, sovereignty, self sufficient ... these are all good things to possess and embody. Monikers of internal strength. However, when one thing become over-used or valued, or the other side of the spectrum isn't present, things get out of whack, our lives and bodies become imbalanced, and we get stuck in situations and chronic challenges that keep us in survival or stress mode. Consider this: "We have become so self-sufficient as self-empowered humans that we have become overly self-reliant." Most people I encounter suffer from this invisible dis-ease of Over Self Reliance, we feel it but don't have the words to see it, and therefore transform it. We become so used to doing whatever needs doing, we don't pause to consider what help we need to do it. We don't consider if we don't have the resources we need, maybe we shouldn't take it on. We've grown so accoustomed to fight for what we need or just barely scrape by that we've gotten used to making do and doing more ourselves. And honestly, there have been many times you and I have needed support or help, and it just wasn't there. That has been our shared reality. Yet, we are each being invited to shake off the over-self-reliance to find a more balanced exchange ... even if we cannot see how that is possible, yet. Ask yourself: Where may I be operating from over self-reliance? One I may have needed before, but that now, at this phase in my reality, is not serving me? WISDOM: Where you are OVER self-reliant, you are also UNDER supported, UNDER cared for and UNDER connected. Today we kick off a series I've named From Burnout to Balance ... to illuminate the invisible ways we are operating like banks giving more withdrawls than receiving deposits, resulting in imbalances that lead to undue suffering, struggle, and sacrifice. We start with Ep 233: Goodbye OVER Self-Reliance where we dive into: How Over-Self Reliance manifests - once you name it you gain the power to shift i Acknoweldging the truth of the over self-reliance and why it's been real for you Opening up to doing things differently going forward - and rebalance. I will also walk you through inquiries to get clear on where over self-reliance is impacting you. Together we can all release this generational pattern and find the new ways to create relationships and realities that by nature create harmony and balance. So your radiance, briliance and light is supported for many years to come. See you there, Christine P.S.->> Request - Share this podcast with one person and then connect and share where the OVER Self Reliance is, what the cost has been, and what it's time to do differently. ____ *** WAYS TO GO DEEPER From Burnout to Balance 40 Day Practice - starts in March Align to Your Design - Career & Life Design Mentoring & Consulting with Christine - https://christinearylo.com/align-to-your-design-career-leadership-mentorship/ *** PRACTICES + RESOURCES FROM SHOW Receiving Mantra : I am held. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS OVERNIGHT SUCCESS! You have to work smart and work hard to earn it, even on the weekend. The keys to building sustainable success are Patience, Consistency, Creativity and Collaboration. Why is it so important to build success instead of becoming instantly successful, famous, rich, etc... in today's social influencer obsessed world of instant gratification? Because you need to build your successful business, brand, or career from the ground up to have the skills and experience to manage, adjust, sustain, and even rebuild it if necessary. In addition, you need to know the steps and create reliable relationships on the way up to keep yourself at (or near) the top. Did you know this Saturday is the 6th Anniversary + 1 week (313 weeks) of my first social media post using the #SaturdayMorningHustle hashtag? Also, today is the 264th podcast episode (248 Saturday episodes + 16 bonus Balance Series episodes). So let me tell you the lessons I have learned from 313 weeks of developing the #SaturdayMorningHustle brand using the four keys mentioned earlier. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/satmorninghustle/message
How can you leverage time blocking and better organize your calendar to “aggressively” defend your personal life? Co-hosts Hannah Robinson and Melissa Honan share their top tips and resources you can rely on and make sure that you get the most out of your time for both your personal and professional life. [1:02] Melissa believes that a great way to “aggressively” defend your personal life is to follow five tips for creating a work-life balance calendar and to let technology assist you in that. [1:53] For Melissa, the first step is to create your ideal, so you need to think about your availability for work, then set it in your calendar app (in Melissa's case, that's AcuityScheduling). [3:48] When it comes to setting your availability for meetings and running meetings, Melissa suggests having padding on both ends so that your work days start and end at the times you would want them to. [4:40] Creating your schedule is something you need to figure out and take different aspects into consideration. Melissa, for instance, doesn't like Mondays, so she takes that into account when planning her work week. [5:26] Melissa gives a breakdown of what a typical week looks like for her. [6:48] Hannah asks Melissa how she deals with something unexpected popping up. [9:27] Hannah asks Melissa whether she likes to combine all of her different calendars in one space. Melissa has 3 Google Calendars and a personal calendar, all of which are integrated together and map over to Acuity. [11:19] Both Melissa and Hannah praise the power of writing things down to avoid forgetting them. [12:25] Hannah asks Melissa about ways she relies on to create a work-life balance within her scheduling. [13:47] For Melissa, it's crucial that you resist the temptation of manually overriding your calendar when, for example, a client asks to have a call during a time slot that you've marked as booked because you wanted to have some downtime. [14:52] Hannah shares one of her current struggles: scheduling time for self-care or for something she enjoys doing. [16:18] Melissa and Hannah discuss the benefits of prioritising self-care and the impact of not doing that. [20:02] Melissa touches upon the importance of having limits in the scheduling you create with Acuity, or a similar platform, as well as why using padding in your scheduler is a smart move. [22:43] For Melissa, something you can do as an introvert is to stack your sales meetings so that you minimize the time you need to think about social interactions. [23:25] Hannah talks about the fact that she prefers to start her days focusing on the biggest task of the day first. [25:52] Melissa goes over her approach of creating different availability by appointment time. Mentioned in this episode: Acuity Scheduling Calendly Google Calendar Canva success@ilovebookkeeping.com
In this episode we're diving a bit more deep than the last one. In my life, I've known and still know so many people who struggle with their Humanity AND being involved in or fully accepted by "the Church". Mostly I've seen the people either fight really hard to NOT be who they are and struggle with their identity because rather than trying to understand themselves and work with themselves, they shun and shame themselves... OR people give up on the "God path" altogether and just go live however they please, because that's easier than trying to force themselves to be something they feel like they're just not. Often that decision is also accompanied by guilt and shame. It doesn't have to be though! I offer a different solution/perspective for you to consider here. Take this journey with me. This series goes out to all my people who are struggling to find an internal Peace with what to do and what not to do, when it's ok to do, IF it's ok to do it, and what or how God really feels about it... And how to navigate spaces that are necessary for your life but seem to contradict each other. Let's Talk About It! Follow Me On Social Media: @thelenitaharris Subscribe, comment, rate! In this new episode of the Work-Life Balance Series, co-hosts Hannah Robinson and Melissa Honan touch upon different strategies business owners can leverage to actually set boundaries, protect themselves, their time, and their business. [1:09] Hannah feels as if this Work-Life Balance Series has come at a perfect time, especially since it covers something she's been struggling with herself. It has been helpful for both her and Melissa. [2:16] For Hannah, the topic at hand is a little controversial and it has shown a generational difference. On the one hand, there's the older generation who didn't believe in boundaries as much. On the other hand, there's the new generation that has the topic of finding work-life balance closer to their heart. [3:24] Melissa sees a connection between setting boundaries and delegating. One of the reasons people don't delegate is the assumption that they will be seen as lazy if they essentially put their work off on other people. Younger generations see the difference between delegating to set boundaries and being lazy, but others may feel as if someone who's delegating and isn't working a certain number of hours each week is lazy… [5:37] Hannah shares that one of the ways to set boundaries is to do more by doing less. The key is to focus on getting quality work done instead of little tasks that get you nowhere. For Hannah, the best way to do that is to delegate – and learning different ways to delegate, so that you don't feel like you're pulled in many different directions, is key. This is something Hannah is learning. [7:16] Many “naysayers” of delegating make the argument of not having someone to delegate their work to, says Melissa. She recommends delegating to your future self. [8:07] Melissa is a fan of prioritizing tasks using an ABCD approach: A stands for things that have to be done today, B refers to tasks that would be nice to take care of today but if they don't get done today, they can get done tomorrow. C is about tasks that should be completed either this week or next week, while D is for something that needs to be done but that doesn't have a due date or clear timetable attached to it. [9:38] According to Hannah, overscheduling and spreading yourself too thin are something that negatively impacts your work-life balance. By her own admission, she's guilty of this. [12:09] Hannah suggests not giving out your knowledge and energy for free because it can become taxing to just give, give, give. Melissa asks Hannah how to do that, especially at a time where most people expect to get free advice through social media content, for instance. [17:17] Hannah explains that you shouldn't necessarily reject people who are breaking your boundaries because you can redirect them to something that does work for you. [18:56] Melissa shares something she has learned from her business coach: you can't control what other people do, but you can prepare for how you'll respond to it. Mentioned in this episode: ILB episode 19 - Work-Life Balance Series: Work-Life Balance is a Good Habit with Alyssa Lang success@ilovebookkeeping.com
The Workflow Queen Alyssa Lang joins co-hosts Hannah Robinson and Melissa Honan to discuss the role of work-life balance, why it's a good habit, and the way it has shaped her company and team members. [2:21] Alyssa shares where her passion for great white sharks comes from, and discusses how she hasn't been able to go shark cage diving, yet. [3:50] Alyssa started her bookkeeping and taxes firm six years ago, before ending it in February of 2020. She started Workflow Queen on Valentine's Day of the same year when she found out that many other bookkeepers and accountants also struggled with trying to create systems and processes, hiring people, and getting support, just like Alyssa did. In January of 2022, she partnered with her Workflow Queen operations manager to start a new bookkeeping firm. [5:30] Alyssa isn't sure that she has mastered work-life balance just yet. [6:34] When starting her first business, Alyssa had no idea about the importance of systems and processes – now, though, with her new business, she really wants to document and outsource the work right from the get-go. [7:48] When it comes to communicating boundaries and expectations to clients, Alyssa feels that things are better now. [9:51] Alyssa's way of doing things may not always sit well with prospects, but she talks about how that has actually been an important thing, despite it being a little bit of a constant struggle. [13:50] For Hannah, the way you communicate your boundaries or expectations is similar to how you wrap up a package and deliver it to people. [16:09] Massages, getting her nails and hair done, as well as cooking, and off-roading are Alyssa's main acts of self-care related to her work-life balance (though, now, it's harder for her to get them done because of the remote location she's currently living in). [18:55] While she initially struggled with work-life balance, as of late, Alyssa has made an effort to put herself first – like during a recent mastermind in Key West where, instead of working and networking like other participants, she decided to take a break because she needed a vacation. [21:59] Melissa shares how, for her, work-life balance is a habit and that's very easy to fall out of good habits. She stresses that it's important to identify that, and then get back on with those good habits. [22:35] According to Alyssa, ‘slow down to speed up' and pre-projecting things to do – in her free time – after having completed a work task are two good things to follow and do in order to get into the good habit of work-life balance. [25:49] Melissa opens up about going through a burnout, and how, now, she realizes that she did fall out of the good work-life balance habit. Alyssa shares a story about a recent time when she informed her team that she needed to take some time off. [27:31] Melissa talks about the importance of choosing to rest and some challenges she has faced in recent times – and the role Hannah has played. [29:12] Alyssa is a big advocate for work-life balance for her team as well. She has had team members letting her and others know that they would be taking some time off, and Alyssa is a fan of that. One of her main goals is to protect her team's personal time. [31:02] Daily check-ins – with today's concerns and intentions – and check-outs for her team members have been a key resource that has helped Alyssa identify whenever a member of her team seemed to have been in need of some time off. [33:18] Alyssa discloses that they're currently hiring at both Workflow Queen and her firm Magnetic Bookkeeping and Consulting. "The Wisdom is in the Pause.. I am here to remind you not to fear the pause... Some of the most courageous people I know are scared of it, as I have been myself." - Alice Walker, nobel prize winning writer of the Color Purple. You and I both know that we NEED to pause on a consistent basis - daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. The scientests have finally proven what yogis and mystics have known for centuries - not only does taking a pause - be it sleep, meditation or a walk in nature - clear our minds and restore our bodies - it literally is what Wisdom requires if you want to run your life from Wisdom vs the collective overculture, status quo and conventional wisdom. Yet left to our habits and patterns we will choose to fill the space, or run the outdated "i don't have time program" and then as a result focus on the wrong things, or too many things and our power gets fragmented and our lifeforce drained. This is where using what I call the Feminine Super Power of Pause + the practice of power pausing can help in big ways. Join Christine Arylo, women's leadership advisor and wisdom teacher, and her special guest Rachael O'Meara, author of the book Pause, for this Feminine Power Time: "Power Pauses: The Feminine Super Power Practice of Pausing": Why we need the pause and why we fear the pause - this is deep! How to tap into the power of the pause to make it part of your days, weeks, months and years - to increase your vitality, keep your sanity, stay focused on what matters How to use the power pause in your career when you know you need a change or things aren't working, but you don't know how A special pause meditation to get connected to what Wisdom is trying to communicate to you now. We lead crazy paced lives in part because we have made the unconscious choice to allow the rhythm of our life to be dictated by the pace the patriarchy and over culture has set - keeping us frenzied, fragmented and not focused on what truly matters. And there is another choice... Feminine wisdom shows us how to be in the world without being of the world, by taking the powerful act to consciously set the patterns and rhythms of days, weeks, months and years in a way that creates harmony, not havoc. Join me, Christine Arylo, feminine leadership advisor, for this Feminine Power Time, the 3rd in the Breaking Through the Myth of Balance Series, as we illuminate a different way to live - so we can focus on what matters, be the most powerful presences of change, without exhausting ourselves and our resources including: Indigenous, feminine and yogic wisdom for tapping in to the natural order of the cosmos and the earth to create a more natural order and flow to your life How to structure your days, weeks, months and year differently and with intention to create more space for what matters and more space for you Fuel your work and create the space to bring the projects you desire to bring into form using the 4 Feminine Super Power turns of the Year What bio-dynamic farming, business theory and ancient wisdom all agree on regarding the rhythm we need to lead our lives with success The Feminine Super Power of FLOW + Using the Power of Moonifesting - and how you can use it to get what matters done To join Christine for a Super Power Pause at one of the 4 key power turns of the year, go to www.SuperPowerPause.com
I'm so busy. I have so much to do! Happy to get sick just so I can rest. I have to work this hard all the time. Moving so fast you lose things, forget things, or your body revolts. Feeling overwhelmed by the craziness of the world. Sucked into the internet, news or social media for more than 15 minutes. Your energy getting sucked up by other people's or the world's drama. These are all signs you have fallen in to the "Intensity Trap" where the pace you are working and managing life at is not sustainable, but it's become 'normal.' Where you let your valuable energy and time get derailed by the happenings in this world in ways that don't empower you or change a thing, but just rile you up to meet the intensity and craziness. There is no question we live in intense times. No question that 'busy' and stretched beyond capacity is what we all feel. But it's all a trap - created by systems that were designed to exploit human capacity, distract feminine power and burn you out - physically and emotionally. But like many traps, you often don't know you are in it. Life this way just seems normal. Or you don't realize you have fallen into the trap until you've wasted hours of your precious life force and time. In this episode of Feminine Power Time "The Intensity Trap"Are, #2 in the Breaking Through The Myth of Balance Series, feminine leadership advisor and transformational wisdom teacher Christine Arylo, illuminates: The signs you are caught in the Intensity Trap - and living your life at an unsustainable pace that you've made the new normal. You'll never feel balanced if you are always so busy. Why even the smartest people get caught in the Intensity Trap and make themselves sick in order to rest and lead those around them to do the same Ancient Wisdom for how our lives are meant to flow if we are in harmony with the natural order vs. setting our rhythm to the man made pace of burnout - like the ocean our lives are meant to have moment of intensity, moments of stillness, and moments of consistent flow. Not always intense and busy. The power of setting the rhythm of your life to a more natural order and harmony - your days, your weeks, your months and your years. If you aren't consciously setting this for yourself, you are vulnerable to the Intensity Trap. Signs that you are about to get sucked into the world's or a person's intensity in a way that doesn't serve you. And end up wasting your time and life force. Wisdom and super power tools for staying connected and informed in the world without getting overwhelmed by the intensity of it.
