Hello Hot Dogs! I've waited for this day for over 14 years: mix #100 is live. When I released my first mix in 2010, I titled it [001] instead of [01]. Using three digits was aspirational, a quiet promise to myself that I might one day reach triple digits. These mixes trace the narrative of my adult life. They've been the thread connecting me with so many of you—some I'll never meet, others who've become close friends (and even roommates—hi Dan, hi James). Back when I released my first mix in 2010, we were still buying mix CDs for our cars. Soundcloud was just emerging, and I committed to monthly releases to this new platform. I may be overreaching here, but I can't remember any other DJs presenting conceptual mixes, monthly, as packaged works of art: a conceptual title, description, and artwork. That consistency and novelty helped build a following outside of my local scene, and when my 2012 Robot Heart recording came out, things really took off internationally. By 2015, the momentum led me to leave my software engineering job for full-time DJing—largely thanks to these Soundcloud mixes. I was purely a DJ then with a nascent Manjumasi label formed with Mark Slee, not releasing my first original track “Peculiar Colors” until 2017. The landscape in 2024 looks different. As Soundcloud rotted to hell and Spotify rose, the value of mixes has sharply declined. With thousands released daily, they've become ubiquitous. The career path for electronic artists now revolves around original productions and social media presence. This industry evolution pushed me toward producing my own music, opening up new creative paths I'm grateful for. The social media aspect has felt natural, as it's been an integral part of my project from the start. These last few years, the touring schedule, studio time, and home life as a husband and father slowed me down from my monthly cadence, but each mix still feels like a deep-rooted part of my message to the world, (mostly) through other people's music. Mix [100] was recorded September 7, 2024, at Public Works in San Francisco, the city that "raised me" as a club kid, where I first learned to DJ. This 5-hour set marked my last show in North America before taking an indefinite mental health break from touring. Playing this set was emotional, to the point of tears in the DJ booth, with support pouring in from both new listeners and those who've been there since the beginning. I couldn't think of a better way to reach 100. I've also created http://www.atish100.com to house all my mixes and their 1,400+ tracklists in one place, which I'll keep updating as new mixes go up on Soundcloud and YouTube. This mix marks a meaningful milestone for me. Thank you for making this journey possible. You, and the 1400+ artists and labels I referenced helped create a life I never imagined.

A prime memory from our first Burn in 2019 is dancing at DISTRIKT for a Robot Heart tie-up with a big group of friends, full of joy and awe and acting like goofballs. That year we had camped at 10&K. Flash forward four years later, we found ourselves opening up DISTRIKT's 2023 season in their new home at 10&K. So much has changed in four years, both globally and personally as we've moved into the creation part of our electronic music journey instead of just being appreciators. One thing that hasn't changed a bit is the joy and awe we feel being present in the dust with thousands of our closest friends and bringing those memories home with us each year as fuel. Thank you to DISTRIKT for giving us the opportunity to experience such a beautiful full-circle moment. These tunes are all about setting the groove as you begin a new journey. ________________________________ - SC: https://soundcloud.com/dima_sova

►Check out our fanlink.to/Y0UTUBE for your audiovisual experience◄ illich Mujica selected deep & melodic cuts for this week's exclusive episode, attracted by pensive, emotional & melancholic musical stories. Not by coincidence, as it is the result of grappling with the recent departure of a very close family member. iliich's Mezcal Dark 'n' Stormy crystalized into a musical journey that validates with deeper honesty those of us, who may currently feel the need to dance their shadows away by letting all the emotions and feelings flow. illich Mujica is a Venezuelan-born, New York City-bred DJ, producer, and musical curator who commands the dance floor, creating an emotional journey that lifts the crowd into cosmic realms of self-discovery. He understands a DJ performance as a communal experience, a delicate dance in which listener's and DJ's energy combine to create a unique experience each and every time. With over two decades of experience playing in New York City's top clubs and venues (Output, Sony Music Hall, House of Yes and X, Cielo), international hotel and resort rooftops and lounges (Public Hotel, The Standard), exclusive parties (Caravan Gitane, Woomoon closing afterparty Ibiza, Lightning Society's Burlesquerade), festivals (Robot Heart at Burning Man, Wonderfruit, Mysteryland) and private events, he can dig deep into his vast musical library to craft the perfect set for almost any setting. His fan-favorite sets are ones of transition: musical journeys that bring the crowd from a sunny day to a sensual night or driving, dark beats to a joyous sunrise. Recently illich has brought in his visual skills as a professional architect and designer to curate 3D sensory experiences that bring together dozens of DJs and performance artists in seamless and intentional storytelling, most notably for the Ephemeral Ball at Sony Music Hall in Times Square, New York City. Each DJ set by illich Mujica provides a new and unique container for connection and joy on the dance floor. This one's for your heart and your soul: Amine K's favorite sip is a glass of neat rum. For todays exclusive episode on Schirchendrink Morocco's ambassador for electronic music used the best of soulful, vocal-ish ingredients. The result is an incredibly beautiful and very special sip! Amine’s self prescribed job description is to put a smile on people’s faces by sharing his music, be that as a DJ or through his productions, happiness is at the core of everything he does. Through production and DJing, Amine discovered a life without restrictions, a distinct purpose to pursue. The majority of Amine’s productions feature ode’s to his African roots, however, his musical influences vary from Danny Tenaglia, to Deep Dish, Nick Warren, and even BB King. His selective label appearances have been poignant moments in his music career. Sol Selectas proved to be a launchpad to the world, their family a most welcoming one. More recent releases on the likes of Alex Niggeman’s Aeon and the esteemed Get Physical Music are a marker of where Amine’s sound is moving. As a touring artist, he has embraced the unknown, planting the electronic music flag in new territories around the world, helping to develop real underground communities everywhere from Myanmar to Mauritius. On more familiar terrain, in 2019 he made his Boiler Room debut at the Grid in Dubai alongside stop- offs for his Moroko Loko party at Montreal, Tokyo, Paris and Berlin. The party provides a twin benefit, often bringing international acts to Morocco for the first time while also introducing African influences to the world. Not to mention his annual presence at Burning Man, his sunrise sets at Robot Heart the perfect summation of his musical identity. Cheers! The bartenders Link up! The Big Imagination Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to incubate bold, visionary projects that inspire the world to dream big. As their 747 Project for Burning Man proves, their artistic pursuits are literally and figuratively larger-than-life and out of the box and to accomplish these groundbreaking projects, they rely on radical collaboration and community support while also providing opportunities for education and participation. On today’s show, Ken answers all the questions we have about this magnificent creation, including how he came up with the idea, how hundreds of people collaborated to make it happen, what the experience is like for Burning Man visitors and why it entails so much more than self-expression on a grand scale. We also talk more generally about the misconceptions about Burning Man and why this event is really about community and celebrating the diversity of art. We get into the details of how and where they managed to acquire the plane, how they went about taking it apart and reassembling it and what the future has in store for him personally and for The 747 Project. This is undoubtedly a spectacular episode, so be sure to join us!   Key Points from This Episode:  Ken’s first Burning Man project and how it led to him and Jon becoming friends and partners. How Ken came up with the concept of turning a 747 into a giant art car. Building the Charlie the Unicorn car with very little resources and why it was so successful. How their 747 project was a team effort for with over 1000 volunteers. Burning Man as a great art experiment that engages with the question of what art is. The significance of the size of the 747 and why it appealed to the imaginations of people. What getting into the plane looks like and the emotional experience visitors go through. A true story of how building a pink unicorn saved a guy’s life. A few interesting analogies for describing Burning Man to someone who hasn’t been. Some of the criticisms against Burning Man; lack of racial diversity and the high cost. How Black Rock City started as a joke that got massively out of control. Acquiring the plane from a bone yard and how Boeing responded to the project. How Ken’s background in airspace and his love for building things culminated in this project. The new plans in store for The 747 Project and how it is going to reach millions of people. The complicated process of taking apart and reassembling the 747 and moving it 500 miles. A hopeful projection of Ken’s next couple of months following the 747 Project. When Ken would consider being part of another project of this scope. A vision for honoring The 747 Project by making a film documentary about it. And much more!  Links Mentioned in Today’s Episode: Ken Feldman on LinkedIn — https://www.linkedin.com/in/kenfeldman Big Imagination — http://www.bigimagination.org/ Burning Man — https://burningman.org/event/ Jonathan Teo on LinkedIn — https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanteo/ Charlie the Unicorn Car at Burning Man — http://www.laburningman.com/mutant-vehicles/charlie-the-unicorn-art-car/ Opulent Temple — https://www.opulenttemple.org/ Robot Heart — https://www.robotheart.org/ Charlie the Unicorn video — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsGYh8AacgY Doug Pray — https://dougpray.com/ Salvador Dali — https://www.dalipaintings.com/ P.T. In the month of June, when living gets easy and temperatures are rising, it is the perfect time to enjoy a tropical cocktail. And it couldn’t get more tropical than with today’s special. 100% natural, refreshing and healthy: the coconut, cracked open by no one less than the Sol Selectas label head, Sabo. Sabo’s name has long been held in high esteem with the Afro-Latin House and the Moombahton scene. Today, Sabo is digging deeper into Tribal and Tech sounds. Behind the decks, his innovative approach to each DJ set makes him a consistent stand out at Festivals like Coachella, Lightening in a Bottle, Shambhala, Fusion, Symbiosis, Desert Hearts, Further Future, and Burning Man’s Robot Heart bus. As a label boss, he is known for his dynamic vision. Sol Selectas started back in 2004 as vinyl only imprint and platform for Sabo’s remixes and mashups. Today the label captures a wide array of sounds, enlisting up and coming underground producers from all over the globe, as well as prominent well-known producers in the industry, focusing the sound on deep spiritual dance music, guiding its listeners into the future realm with positive intention. Sabo once said he likes to DJ outdoors within nature, where he feels connected to the Earth when dancing. His sets always tell a story, with lots of tribal percussions, this time filled with super chilled out vibes and foot tapping downtempo beats. It’s never aggressive, but always groovy. You can literally hear the waves breaking into a magical turquoise lagoon, filled with colorful tropical fish and fringed by palms, when sipping off this delicious Coconut. By the way did you know that plastic straws make the top 10 list of litter items on beaches? One of the best way to reduce your plastic footprint is to avoid using plastic straws and use stainless steel straws instead. As we did for Sabo’s coconut We are proud to have a very special artist and person kicking-off the Schirmchendrink summer. Thanks, Sabo, for joining the Schirmchendrink family! https://www.instagram.com/r.trufanov/ After 6 years of creating sunrise soundtracks from atop the Robot Heart bus, it is a challenge to avoid submitting to a formulaic approach. One of the biggest perks of producing a Robot Heart sunrise is that you can take risks; explore soundscapes and dynamics, knowing that the mystical Deep Playa setting allows for pauses and quiet moments that don’t translate in loud clubs or multi-stage festivals. This year, the set was a journey starting with robots and ending with humans. I wanted the sun to come up to the sound of arguing AI robots. What you heard was a transcript from the actual negotiation between two AI bots at Facebook earlier that summer; thenextweb.com/artificial-intell…its-own-language/ Other than it creating a surreal environment as the sun came up, it also proved a perfect palette cleanser to transition from night into day. The sounds of flutist Claire Chase immediately afterwards set the tone for the 90 minutes to follow. I remembered Robert Miles (we lost him this year) with a beautiful guitar version of his song "Children", and then introduced spiritual emcee and rising star Elliott LaRue. He delivered a chilling live message from the top of the bus about our challenges and responsibilities as humans. And that about summed up the Scumfrog sunrise from 2017. As consuming Meczal is a social act, so is listening to Tara Brooks’ hypnotizing sets. Whether playing at an intimate club, a packed festival or a magical sunrise deep in the Playa, Tara Brooks music envelopes the crowd. What started as a hobby in Houston’s rave scene of the 90s developed to an impressive career. Tara’s bookings have taken her all over. She is a resident at Desert Hearts, a festival in Southern California. Tara also graced the decks of Citifox LA, the BPM Festival, the famous Robot Heart bus at Burning Man. In her Hometown Los Angeles, she is a resident at Subtract Music and every so often, Tara heads to international festival such as the Rainbow Serpent Festival in Australia most recently. The latest studio work includes releases and mixes on the likes of Akbal Music, Kindisch, Einmusika Recordings, Exotic Refreshment, Balance Series, John Digweed's Transitions as well as Deep House Amsterdam and Electronic Groove. It was one of her early Robot Heart sets when Tara worked her magic on us. Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise durch verspielte, sehr deepe und hypnothische Felder, wie gemacht für eine tanzbare Afterhour sind. Das gabs bei uns schon lange nicht mehr….seid gespannt. Wir danken Dir vielmals für dieses besondere Set Atish. Umwerfend und überraschend gut. Wenn Unikat, dann Hier. Chapeu. Wir sind entzückt. It's the last day of Burning Man and I am wandering through the skeletal remains of the Robot Heart graveyard. The sun has just come up, and the sky is an orgy of orange. As I stare and wonder about the wasted potential of this generation and watch drug fueled men chase beautiful costume queen Instagram addicts, I feel two very large hands on my bear chest. I look to find the source of the foreign intruder and it belongs the glowing Cherub like face of Miles Matthewson. A man so full of the kind of innocent silly positive energy that you instantly sort of fall in love with his lackadaisical carefree white privilege. I met him wearing a panda onesie wandering the furthest outreaches of deep playa and in order to not become another extinct bear I have zipped it down all the way to my cervix (exposing my bear chest) So there I was winding my own business for ONCE and was stopped by this Adonis like man and his super cool east London girlfriend (she wasn't even dressed up she was in like cool brunch clothes and of course she's a yoga teacher in Ibiza FULL time which means she's off her literal tits) by putting both their hands on my boobies and pulling me into a long drawn out stand up cuddle puddle. This is the kind of thing that only really beautiful people can do. This guy looked like Beyonce's stylist walked around following him with a golden light spotlight and a fan for his silken shoulder lengh locks. Just because they were cute didn't mean I wasn't going to verbally punish them a bit for their audacity so we spent the morning on bike rides and art cars and celebrating life and once again it reaffirmed for me how much I love that god damn place. "This one time at Burning Man..." ...you can let your imagination run wild with finishing that sentence. ;) After 12 years of going to Deep End and DISTRIKT religiously for a 'Dusty Good Time', this year I was honored to be asked to play DISTRIKT, which was my 20th Burn *)^(*. After waking up a little later (than anticipated) from a long night at Mayan Warrior/Robot Heart Hookup out in Deep Playa, I raced over to DISTRIKT, where D.J. Boris Levit was holding things down nicely. Before I even had a chance to take off my camel-back, Boris said, 'this is my last track'. I reached around my neck for my FlashDrive containing my selections for my set at DISTRIKT, with my newest arsenal of secret weapons, and a handful classic gem's... but my Flash-Drive was GONE! It had been around my neck all week. Apparently I left it in the CDJ's at Robot Heart the day before on the Art-Tour with Skrillex. Luckily, I had a backup plan in place, and I remembered that I zip-tied one backup Flash-Drive to my headphones, and another one to my bike seat, just for this sort of scenario. Because “Sometimes… Burning Man Happens" The Dance-Floor was just getting filled around 1pm, (well the bar was at least anyways ;) And I played appropriately for my time slot. Direct from my soul to the dance-floor. Not too hard, not too soft, just warm, groovy rhythms, designed to attract people to the dance-floor. And it totally worked! The floor started filling up with happy smiling faces, the DJ Booth started to fill up with friends. "Playa Magic" was in full effect! Playing music on That Sound-System for DISTRIKT, was absolutely exhilarating .... and having the opportunity to warm things up for DJ Dan, The Scumfrog, Syd Gris and Peter Blick was truly an honor. #Gratitude Thank You DISTRIKT family! Looking forward to more dance-y, dusty good times.... See you on the Dust-Floor! https://soundcloud.com/mistaremix

Just Be aka Bushwacka aka Matthew Benjamin’s story arose from deep within the UK’s underground warehouse and illegal rave scene. Beginning in the 80s and 90s, he found it a space where he had unparalleled creative freedom to explore and develop as an artist. Just Be’s past has now seeped into the present, and as the years have gone by, we’ve seen him push boundaries of house, breakbeat, techno, downtempo and ambience alike. A collection of styles that have since lead him down a path to become the highly sort-after DJ/producer that he is today. Officially, Just Be’s career kicked off with a 14-year residency in London’s legendary The End, the abandoned train tunnel turned nightclub was a leg up in the dance world and propelled him into the international circuit. Since then, his time as a touring artist has seen him headline some of the worlds leading clubs such as Cocoon, DC10 and the now defunct Space in Ibiza. Clubs aside, Just Be is also no stranger to festival life. He’s featured on the dusty plains of the Black Rock Dessert for a sunrise set at Burning Man’s Robot Heart stage, The BPM Festival and many more. Fast forward to the present and Just Be now has 6 artist albums with another one on its way, 120 remixes and 160 tracks. To top it off he also has another EP soon to be released on Get Physical Music. In compiling this bumping house mix for Balance Selections, Just Be waited until the last minute so he could pick his favourite and most recent tracks from his collection, a mix where he’s managed to squeeze 18 tracks into his one-hour set. When asked about his podcast he told Balance ‘I haven’t actually put my own music on this mix. I meant to, but there is so much good music I had to pass on, and I just went with what felt right’ – and as usual, his feeling was spot on. The Robot Heart On the Rise of Playa Tech. //  DJ Three is a name that's been on a lot of lips lately, thanks largely to several successive years of extremely popular podcasts recorded live at Burning Man. But this Robot Heart regular, who dismisses, "playa tech is the new dubstep," discovered dance music about as far from the Black Rock Desert as you can get, in the Central Florida rave scene of the early 90s. It was a era that left an indelible mark on the America rave consciousness, spawning local heroes like Rabbit in the Moon and Kimball Collins, but also acting as an early port of call for European DJs such as Sasha and Digweed, and Paul Van Dyk, for whom cities like Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville were early ports of entry on their way to the top of the American club scene. Though he's called New York home for over a decade (with residencies at Twilo and Output to prove his bona fides), Three's eclectic brand of trippy four-four music (he once ran a label called Hallucination, now cleverly updated to Hallucienda) has made him one of those beloved DJs DJ types, with supporters like Laurent Garnier, Doc Martin and Damian Lazarus. He's able to speak intelligently about all shades of techno and house, regardless of their place of origin, which made him the ideal guest for Episode 30 of Rave Curious.

Their sound is comprised of deep, melodic textures accompanied by lush pads and driving progressions. AEONIX is not defined by any one genre; rather they enjoy experimenting through whatever soundscapes inspire them at any given moment. The Medicine Songs EP is something AEONIX holds very dearly to their hearts. It has been a long time in the making, and finally ready for release. At the end of 2014, Jonnie King sat with Brother Edwin in a spiritual gathering and a vision came to him to share Edwin's icaros in the next AEONIX composition. After Edwin sent him some recordings, King brought them to his partner Johnny Reyes, which instantly sparked new creativity in their sound. The two saw this as a great opportunity to embark upon a slightly different direction with their music, and that next year AEONIX went on to open their set on the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man with the record, Pachamama Qhalichay, meaning “Earth Mother Healing.” Later on in 2015, King met Chonon Quena in another spiritual gathering, and a similar vision came to him as with Edwin. He invited Chonon to the studio to meet Reyes, and it was clear that something beautiful was about to emerge from this union. They recorded Joe Divina (“Divine Light”) together which was the perfect companion to Pachamama Qhalichay. The boys then reached out to friends Goldcap, Simon Doty & Zein, and Sergio Santos to add their magical reinterpretations of the tracks to the Medicine Songs EP.' The Jackrabbit Speaks (Burning Man 2016 Special) The music of Burning Man holds a special place in my heart. The rhythms and melodies coming out of sound/art camps like @robot-heart and @whiteoceanofficial have had a significant impact on my direction as a DJ, with the Robot Heart 2013 set from @atish and @mcslee marking a turning point in my musical journey. In the month leading up to this year's burn, I wanted to put together a set that would amplify the anticipation and excitement that all of my burner buds are undoubtedly feeling as August 28 approaches. The mandate was simple - arrange a series of grin-inducing tracks for moments of love, hugs, ass shaking and ecstasy in the dust. This mix is the product of that mandate. I hope you enjoy! Mr. C Thinks Everyone Just Needs to Relax and Meditate The techno elder statesman and Further Future founder Jason Swamy impart wisdom in this week's Rave Curious podcast. Before he was a beacon for underground techno and house, Mr. C was the leader of proto-rave band the Shamen. In the 30 years since he discovered dance music, the Los Angeles resident has done it all, using his unexpected chart-topping success to cultivate the vibrant community that sprung up around him. From founding the legendary club The End in London, which helped to define the modern techno club experience, to promoting his Superfreq label and events in the city he now calls home, Mr. C is never afraid to challenge the status quo. He meets Rave Curious head on with some flashbacks to the '90s rave culture and plenty of opinions about the global scene of today. He also takes on Trump and tells us why everyone should really just relax and meditate. Also on the podcast is Robot Heart conspirator Jason Swamy, who came to tell Rave Curious about his history with Burning Man and how his new event, Further Future, is seeking to surpass the "woo-woo" of the transformational festival scene and enact real change.

But two of his all-time favorite fashions are that of DJ and producer. Since co-founding House-Heads in 2008, a collective combining forward-thinking music with a quirky underground vibe, he has gone on to join the Listed Bookings roster and host the monthly mix show Heron Sound on Proton Radio. He is also one half of Manju Masi, a collaboration with long-time partner in crime Atish. Over the course of an obsession with dance music now more than 15 years strong, Slee has evolved a style of deep house that reflects a unique personality, balancing intricate grooves, dreamy textures, and playful whimsical bounce. Blending his technical side with intuition and introspection, he takes an approach that tickles both mind and soul. Slee's sets have taken him far and wide, playing for audiences from Cape Town to Playa del Carmen, from Robot Heart to the Cityfox series in NYC. On the home front, his penchant for diverse and well-crafted warmup sets sees him regularly playing SF's top clubs, opening for DJs like Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, Lee Burridge, Guy Gerber, Mathew Dekay, Vincenzo, Andre Lodemann, and Hector. Rounding things out are his original productions and remixes, released on Cityfox, Tenampa, 5 and Dime, and Looq. It’s very rare in today's digital age to find an artist that has built a profile for themselves without the backing of any productions. However, for the last 4 years Atish Mehta has been forging a career for himself through only DJing, and a small gig in San Francisco has turned into a musical journey that his seen him play live across the globe. Anyone that has seen Atish live can attest to his natural enthusiasm for music which is only matched by his ability to entertain a dancefloor. His mixes on soundcloud has seen him amass quite a following and the quality of his monthly podcasts has led to his play counters increase from 2000 to around 20 000 plays in no time. Atish’s natural talent and passion for music haven’t gone unnoticed: Lee Burridge asked Atish to play on the legendary Robot Heart bus sound system at Burning Man in 2011, and Atish has been invited back every year since. He’s also been honored to open for and tag with some of the most respected names in dance music including John Digweed, Danny Howells, Guy Gerber, M.A.N.D.Y., and Tyrant. Currently, Atish is on Listed Bookings’ roster, and he is a resident at Listed’s monthly party, Play, at San Francisco’s world-renowned club, The Endup. He‘s also the resident at the long-running quirky monthly event, Tutu Tuesday.. We are very excited to have Atish mix the latest Balance Selections podcast, and with this mix (as Atish acknowledges) he has shown his appreciation for various shades house: “With this Balance mix, I touched on some pretty sounds, some deep ones, lushness, a touch of techiness, and a proggy-influenced finish with a hint of epicness (but hopefully not cheesiness).” It took Atish 2 months to put this podcast together and you can definitely hear his attentive approach towards track selection, and how each track compliments the next. (“Sometimes I’ll spend up to 45 minutes just on a single transition…”). It’s this attention to the finer attributes of the mix that has made Atish a regular visitor to clubs around the world…. Greetings Soupaholics! When I asked today's guest DJ if he would put a little something together for us I was kinda surprised by the realization that this is his first mix for Beat Soup.  Clearly an oversight on my part, 'cuz Vitamindevo is a well known staple in the SF underground house scene, a fantastic DJ & producer, and a helluva nice guy to boot.  So, my apologies for taking so long to introduce you to this immensely talented soul . . . and with that, make sure to grab a napkin 'cuz this bowl of soup is gonna get MESSY! Connect with Vitamindevo on Facebook and Twitter, and check out his other sounds on Soundcloud.  And make sure to follow Beat Soup as well! BIO:Vitamindevo’s genre of choice is tech house, but he loves mixing it with spacey breaks, dub-tech, deep house, and acid elements. Music has always been his preferred form of therapy since he was young enough to hear and would spend hours banging on the drums in his parent’s basement studio jamming to the sounds of 60′s and 70′s rock. Thankfully he never lost his obsession with music. In college he was first introduced to the electronic music scene in Florida, then after moving to Brooklyn in 2004, he began to be influenced by the industrial synchronicity, depth and scale of New York. Vitamindevo has now been a part of the scene for over fourteen years, including ten spent DJing and producing, and he has no desire to slow down now! He has performed up and down the East and West Coasts, at clubs, warehouses, forests and deserts in NYC, SF, LA, Northern California, and Nevada as both Vitamindevo and his old duo 3l3tronic while part of Robot Heart the early years. He has collaborated with Truth Now, Bianca Dino, Nico Tower, Stillwell, etc. His newest side project Gydyr, is a bass-focused alter-ego, that he has performed as at Warfield opening for Knife Party, as well as being an Insomniac Discovery Project winner. You don’t go to a Vitamindevo show to sit, you go to see the speakers explode with energy on a sweat-drenched dance floor where time seems to stand still. His shows are a multi-dimensional experience brought to life with him dancing with you while weaving layers of rich digital components. The only thing better than getting lost in his music is looking up and seeing him dancing right along with you.

This week's RIPEcast features a tag set from Pink Mammoth residents Jonathan Will and Gravity, live from Breakfast of Champions 2014. Here's what they have to say: "We are both super excited to have closed out our 4th Breakfast of Champions together. Rob Garza had just hoped of the decks, taking us an eclectic journey. We aimed to keep the feeling going strong with bits of funk, glazed with some grit; ending on a high, sedimental note. We hope you enjoy the mix and look forward to what 2014 will bring!" - Jonathan Will & Gravity (pinkmammoth.org) About Jonathan Will: Jonathan Will is a resident DJ, podcast boss, and impresario for San Francisco’s legendary house crew Pink Mammoth, as well as an up-and-coming producer for Loöq Records. He loves to make people FEAL on the dance floors by taking them through a journey inward of beauty and emotion, as well as provoking momentous booty-shaking extroversion. His style is eclectic, expressive and dance floor-centric. His sets convey a full range of house music including full-body notes of tech, deep house; seductive aromas of electro-pop, underground jazz and intrigue; and including a well balanced, lingering finish of funk and lure. He has played alongside the likes of Lee Burridge, BLOND:ISH, Jimpster, Art Department, Soul Clap, Justin Martin, DJ T, Worthy, Marques Wyatt, Fred Everything, Spirit Catcher, Audiofly (Luca Saporito), M.A.N.D.Y. (Philip Jung) Miguel Migs and The Martinez Brothers. He has performed at almost every notable club, festival and underground in the SF- Bay area including: Monarch, Mighty, The ENDUP, Supperclub, Triple Crown, Ruby Sky, Wish, Temple, Anu, Public Works, The Phoenix Hotel, Monroe, How Weird, Lovefest, Superhero St Fair, Decompression, Body & Soul, Robot Heart; and around the world in Miami (WMC), Minneapolis, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, Amsterdam, Japan and Mexico, as well as the much loved, annual Pink Mammoth parties at BRC, Burning Man. Currently, he has been busy in the studios with production. In 2012 he did a remix for AND()'s “Akuma H23” on Looq records. The release was well received and even peaked to #35 in its category on Beatport. Then he followed with a strong, lush summer deep house remix of Momu's “ComingUp” which got re-released on Loöq's Best 12 of 2012. He latest remix of Momu’s “Rising” which debued on Pink Mammoth's Sunrise set on Robot Heart is already getting much DJ support and praise. http://soundcloud.com/jonathan-w http://facebook.com/Jonathan.Will.dj About Gravity: The Chicago area music scene provided the perfect backdrop for the early days of Rob Adelmann’s (aka DJ Gravity) funky, eclectic influences. Yet despite growing up in the birthplace of house music, Rob’s first real exposure to the genre came in 1997, while living in London. The thriving underground scene of UK’s capital sucked him in and left a lasting impression. In 1999, while living in Colorado, Rob bought turntables and began teaching himself the art of mixing, recalling advice he picked up from friends in London. Within 6 months he found himself playing bars and clubs in Colorado. While living in Boulder, Rob had the good fortune of meeting future Pink Mammoth cofounder Ryel K, who invited him to camp and DJ at Pink Mammoth during Burning Man 2005. The Burning Man culture and his experience DJing there had such a profound effect that he was inspired to move to San Francisco shortly after. Once in SF, Rob quickly became an integral part of Pink Mammoth’s foundation. Over the last six years Rob has DJed every Pink Mammoth event in venues all over SF, as well as parties throughout North America, including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Denver and Calgary. In addition to playing headlining sets, Rob has had the opportunity to share the decks with Lee Burridge, Marques Wyatt, Collette, Jimpster, Spirit Catcher, Justin Martin, Random Soul, Hed Kandi, Miguel Migs, AstroGlyde, DJ T and The Martinez Brothers. Although rooted in funky and deep house, Rob’s sound is not easily defined. Whether playing an uplifting daytime party, epic sunset/sunrise set, or a peak time nightclub slot, his main source of inspiration comes from the dancefloor. Rather than sticking to a plan or sub-genre of house, Rob’s sets are based on reading the crowd and creating an irresistible vibe and unforgettable experience. http://www.pinkmammoth.org/participants/gravity/#sthash.QxSRQjM4.dpuf

After years of producing music under various guises, Jon Charnis found his true calling in the slower, darker, and deeper spheres of House music. The re-invention manifested beyond music as the former DC native relocated to the city of Los Angeles while launching his new moniker (his actual birth name). From then on it didn't take long to make his impact felt. His track 'Prophecy' was spotted by Innervisions boss, Dixon, who signed the track to his prestigious Berlin based label after road testing it at some of the world's premier parties. He followed this up with an official remix of Art Department's Burning Man anthem, "Robot Heart", a collaboration with production partners Lovecraft and Prab K. After being in the Dust for ten days your thought process begins to sway in the way of being cloudy. Having cut-throat electro tracks and nasty Basslines, sweeping thru the air for a week also tends to change your school of thought. Having said this I had been poppin’ over to DISTRIKT every day at least once, to get my daytime wiggle on. As part of Robot Heart, it was nice to see our BOT dropping sub-science alongside everyone towards the end of the week. The bass was always fresh and the “Captain’s” air horn was always boomin’, letting everyone in the crowd (and the neighbors) know that it was time to jump as high as possible and scream at the top of their dusty lungs. So when it came time for me to rock the DISTRIKT system on Saturday, I had already played six sets on the playa. This would be my last of the year at Burning Man and as it was on the earlier side of the day, I thought it best to lay down a nice progressive acid set, for that somber reminder, that it was all about to be over, but all is not lost. I miss you already Black Rock City, but hopefully with this set on your iPod you’ll only crave for more next year :) Thank you DISTRIKT crew for letting me drop beats at the best day party on the playa!
