Redroom Sessions - An Electronic Music Podcast - Deep House, Techno, Chill, Disco
PHONK D (Frankfurt,Germany) To understand Phonk D’s musical universe, you have to take a journey back in time for some years. After distributing his first genre-crossing mixtapes in the schoolyard, he was drawn to electronic music in the 90s. Night after night the Darmstadt resident observed the DJs at Frankfurt's legendary clubs Dorian Gray and Omen spending all his money on records. Thus, his DJ-career and enthusiasm for House and Techno kicked off with his first gig in 1997. Aside from DJing, he started to organise his own parties and worked at a local record store. The deeper his interest in DJ-techniques grew, the more he developed a passion for Hip Hop. For the next couple of years the electronic music took a backseat. Instead, Phonk D expanded his personal collection with disco- and funk-records and sold his own mixtapes in the Rhein-Main-area as well as establishing the producer-collective Kollege Schnürschnuh together with his musical partner Iron. In due course, they took credit for several albums and EPs for rappers like Mädness and Döll and Phonk D supported various artists at concerts and festivals as a backing DJ. While Phonk D enjoys expanding his musical tastes, an old flame never dies and after a long-lasting period in urban music, he went back to his roots, falling in love with electronic music again. He founded his own label footjob, which he has been running since 2014 and releases tunes of other artists besides his own productions. The sound of footjob is somewhere between deep, disco and classic house without being too attached to a genre and finds the approval of well-known scene-heads. Following various releases on Footjob, Phonk D also appears on labels like Salsoul, Glitterbox, Nite Grooves, NDYD, Poetry in Motion etc. With his event series „Diggin’ In The Crates“ at the Darmstadt-based Weststadtcafé he follows his passion for pushing tunes appealing to him since he took his first steps into the world of music. https://soundcloud.com/phonk-d

*Cue Darts commentator style 180!* Sliding into the weekend with this bumper mix from Phonk D, here is a bit of info if you ain't all up in that knowledge about the Disco Don... In the early 90s electronic music grabbed hold of Phonk D. After many nights at clubs in Frankfurt, hundreds of kilograms of collected vinyls, countless DJ-gigs and a remarkable journey into Hip Hop as a producer, the Darmstadt resident founded his label Footjob in 2014. The Footjob sound is somewhere between deep, disco and classic house and finds the approval of well-known scene-heads. Following various releases on Footjob, Phonk D also appears on labels like Salsoul, Glitterbox, Nite Grooves, NDYD, Poetry in Motion, Sucio and EFTCM. With his event series "Diggin’ In The Crates“ at the Darmstadt-based Weststadt café he follows his passion for pushing tunes appealing to him since he took his first steps into the world of music. BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the 38 Spesh interview session! The Rochester underground has maintained it’s feverish buzz as 2019 gets under way, and this MC / producer is a large part of the reason why. While Spesh’s resume goes back to the early 2000’s, he reintroduced himself to the world in a big way last year after stepping away from the game for a few years. We catch up with Spesh over salad to talk about the groundwork he laid in 2018 via collaborative projects with Benny The Butcher, Kool G Rap & Joe Blow, his upcoming album with Diggin’ In The Crates and his Trust Comes First imprint that features up and comers Che Noir & Klass Murda. We also crack the history books open and talk about his father’s influence on him musically, as well as why he taught himself to play keyboard and produce at an early age - which led to him connecting with DJ Green Lantern all by the tender age of 16! Of course there’s much more where this came from, but it wouldn’t be fun to let it all out here - so press play, cop “38 Strategies of Raw” today and remember that we ALWAYS have that WORK and it’s ALWAYS that #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard // southernvangard.com // @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube // #hiphop #rap #undergroundhiphop #boombap #DJ #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #WORLDWIDE #RIPCOMBATJACK Recorded live March 3, 2018 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard twitter/IG: @jondoeatl @southernvangard @cappuccinomeeks

**Inner Realms** **The path leading to this point in time, started back in 1998 with a set of Technic 1200's and a stack of Jungle records. The very next year, with the release of Tipper's "Sound Off" compilation, the path became instantly focused on the Nu Skool breaks sound coming out of the UK. Throughout the last 20 years, it's been a mission to dig in and explore as many styles of dance music as possible. Everything from Breaks, Jungle, DnB, Techno, House, Psytrance, Dubstep, Trap, Glitch Hop, Mid Tempo, Experimental and Sacred Bass, etc... A true multi-genre wizard. breaking rules and bluring the lines between genre's is just another day in the life of being Inconspicuous, taking the art of story telling through the art of mixing as top priority. We're back to discuss if the on court spat between KD and Draymond Green is really news worthy, who came out on top in the Jimmy Butler/Philly trade, and is Melo really to blame for the Rockets' slow start? We also discuss records we took a liking to from our parents' dusty crates, and discuss A Tribe Called Quest's "Midnight Maruaders" album and Wu Tang Clan's "Enter The 36 Chambers" Album on their 25th Anniversary and what we appreciated about those musical masterpieces. Enjoy, and we'll catch ya'll on Season 3!!

It's only fair for when artists visit Dubai, they stop by the dukkan stoop to kick back and enjoy great conversations. Well, this week, the dukkan stoop was blessed with none other than the Hip Hop legend, Lord Finesse, for a chat with the crew. They discussed his 1st trip visit to Dubai, the state of Hip Hop in the US and versus the world, his upbringing, and his new direction in inspiring the youth. #WelcomeToYourTribe ---- The Dukkan Show is hosted by OT, Irshad, Toofless, and Reem www.dukkanshow.com Facebook | Instagram | Twitter For those that don't know who Lord Finesse is, he is a DJ, producer, and rapper that was signed to Wild Pitch Records in 1989, home of other popular hip hop artists such as Gang Starr, Main Source, Chill Rob G, Percee P and O.C. In 1990, the duo released their debut album Funky Technician.[3] The album featured production from future star beat-makers DJ Premier, Diamond D and Showbiz. Soon after, Finesse formed the popular New York underground crew D.I.T.C., an acronym for "Diggin In The Crates", together with Showbiz & A.G. and Diamond D. Future members included Fat Joe, O.C., Buckwild, and Big L. Finesse returned as a solo artist in early 1992 with his second effort, Return of the Funky Man. The album featured guest appearances from Percee Pand AG. The album's title track peaked at number 13 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. Return of the Funky Man also included a couple of songs that were produced by Finesse himself, and this would be the start of a career as a much respected hip-hop producer. In 1994 Finesse made a production appearance on The Notorious B.I.G.'s classic debut Ready to Die, on the track "Suicidal Thoughts". In 1995, he produced a big portion of Big L's debut album Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous, including the single "M.V.P." and made an appearance on one of the album's highlight songs "Da Graveyard". He returned as an artist in 1996 with the now rare 12" single "Check The Method" and then the acclaimed album The Awakening. Finesse produced the entire album himself, and enlisted a large number of guests, including KRS-One, MC Lyte, Akinyele, Diamond D, Showbiz & A.G., O.C.and Kid Capri. The underground single "Actual Facts" featuring Sadat X, Large Professor and Grand Puba, was included as a hidden track on the album. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
