In this compelling episode of The Whole Student, hosts Kal Balaven and Mo Pritzker welcome Irshad Manji, New York Times Bestselling Author and founder of the Moral Courage College, for a transformative conversation. Kal begins by sharing a candid and somewhat "embarrassing" story: in 2008, based on secondhand information, he attempted to "cancel" Irshad, believing her to be an "Islamophobe." This episode documents Kal's journey from that misperception to a deep appreciation for Irshad's work. A returning guest from Season 1, Irshad shares her insights on the crucial difference between belonging and groupthink, emphasizing the importance of voluntary affiliation over community ownership. She delves into practical strategies for cultivating moral courage, navigating today's cancel culture, and building trust in a divided society. Key themes include: The power of listening: Irshad stresses the importance of meeting people where they are, asking genuine questions, and building trust through active listening. Navigating the "Anger Highway": The conversation explores how to move beyond reactive emotions and engage in constructive dialogue. Confident humility: Irshad highlights the paradox of standing your ground while creating common ground, and trusting the validity of your own experiences without being threatened by others. The role of education: The episode underscores the need to equip students with the skills to engage in healthy conversations and build bridges across differences. This episode is a powerful reminder of the importance of open dialogue, critical thinking, and the courage to challenge our own assumptions. Join Kal, Mo, and Irshad as they explore how we can foster a more inclusive and understanding world.

Summary In this episode of Sales is King, Dan Sixsmith interviews Irshad Raihan, the VP of Product Marketing at FICO. They discuss the state of B2B marketing and the need for marketing to disrupt itself. Irshad shares his background and how he got into marketing, emphasizing the importance of storytelling and customer engagement. They also talk about the future of digital marketing, including immersive and interactive content, account-based marketing, and the role of AI. AI can help marketers understand customer behavior by analyzing vast amounts of data. It can assist in content personalization, predictive analytics, dynamic pricing optimization, lead scoring, and churn analysis. However, AI should be seen as an enabler, not a replacement for human decision-making. Marketers should focus on using AI to make their teams more efficient and effective, allowing them to innovate and provide better customer experiences. The consumption of marketing is changing, with voice search and platforms like TikTok and podcasts gaining popularity. Marketers should adapt their content to meet customers where they are. Marketing and sales alignment is crucial, and both teams should work together to build the sales funnel and achieve common goals. CMOs should pay attention to next-generation CRM platforms and data management to drive better insights and results. Success is defined by leaving a lasting impact and making a difference in the lives of others. Takeaways Marketing needs to disrupt itself and focus on inspiring, informing, and initiating customers rather than just selling to them. B2B marketing should strive to provide B2C-like experiences by personalizing the brand, having an opinion, and engaging customers in a meaningful way. The future of digital marketing includes immersive and interactive content, account-based marketing, and the use of AI for personalization and optimization. AI has the potential to add more value than harm in marketing, but it requires careful consideration and application. 22nd March 2024 - 'Jumuah Bayaan' with Maulana Irshad Riyazuddin
Here's how to end an angry conflict in 8 minutes, with @IrshadManjiTV. Educator Irshad Manji emphasizes that diversity is a fact of life, and it should be harnessed to unite society rather than divide it. Recognizing that humans tend to react defensively to opposing views, she offers five key skills to promote constructive conversations. These include 1) taking deep breaths to facilitate rational thinking, 2) intentionally establishing common ground, 3) genuinely inquiring about the other person's perspective, 4) actively listening to learn rather than to win, and 5) encouraging further dialogue by asking "Tell me more." Adopting these skills can lead to healthier outcomes in contentious conversations and foster collaboration. Ultimately, an individual's ability to engage in productive discussions depends on their motivation. It is essential to reflect on one's intentions, choosing between a genuine desire to solve problems or a need to assert moral superiority. Only by making the right choice can we hope to harness the power of diversity for the greater good. chapters: 0:00 Our defensive brains 1:52 How ‘slam dunking' backfires 3:05 The 5-part toolkit 3:27 Skill #1: Breathe deeply (give your brain oxygen) 4:06 Skill #2: Create common ground 4:40 Skill #3: Ask a sincere question 5:16 Skill #4: Listen to learn 6:15 Skill #5: “Tell me more” 7:31 The most uncomfortable question ------------------------------------------------------------------------ About Irshad Manji: In Arabic, Irshad means “guidance.” My mission: to teach a critical mass of people the skills of moral courage — doing the right thing in the face of our fears. This mission has been a life-long journey. Growing up in a violent household, I made a commitment to use my education for good. That meant thinking for myself. At my Islamic school, I challenged dogma and got expelled at age 14. Later, studying Islam on my own, I made a truly surprising discovery: It's possible to reconcile faith with freedom. That discovery led me to write two internationally best-selling books about reforming Islam. I recently launched my latest book, Don't Label Me, about how to heal the Us-versus-Them divisions that are ripping apart America and much of the world. In all that I am and all that I do, I stand for the responsibility to ask questions — and the right to do so, free from fear. Get Smarter Faster, With Daily Episodes From The Worlds Biggest Thinkers. In this episode, they discuss the value of consultants with multiple skill sets who can handle various aspects of a project, potentially replacing the need for multiple agency roles. Both hosts are consultants who bring multiple skill sets to a problem and can do the job of three or four people. They also emphasize the importance of patience and taking the time to build out the infrastructure correctly. They suggest building outside the system and implementing technology after thoroughly whiteboarding and mirroring the go-to-market processes. By putting the system on paper and allowing for edits and fixes, companies can ensure a more efficient and effective implementation.Additionally, They explore the connection between marketing and sales in go-to-market strategies. Successful companies are those where sales and marketing work together seamlessly. This highlights the need for collaboration and alignment between these two departments to achieve optimal results.Overall, the episode emphasizes that designing a solid infrastructure for go-to-market strategies is crucial and should not be rushed. It sought ultimately to establish Muslim rule over the entire Indian subcontinent. Though based in Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Taiba initially operated in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, on the Pakistan-India border, but by the first decade of the 21st century the group had expanded its reach farther into India. Jammu and Kashmir was claimed by both India, a largely Hindu country, and Pakistan, a largely Muslim country, and the dispute gave rise to many armed groups within Jammu and Kashmir. One of the largest groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Lashkar-e-Taiba was extremely pro-Pakistan regarding control of the region. The group opposed any concessions to India. Further, its leaders expressed the desire to establish Islamic rule throughout India. The group took part in several attacks targeting non-Muslim civilian populations in Jammu and Kashmir in an effort to create a Muslim state. Many of Lashkar-e-Taiba's members were Pakistani or Afghan. It was believed that the group had ties with Afghanistan's Taliban government and with the wealthy Saudi extremist and al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Fighters from Lashkar-e-Taiba and another militant Muslim group, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, were killed in August 1998 when U.S. cruise missiles struck bin Laden's training camps in Afghanistan, and a senior al-Qaeda official was captured in a Lashkar-e-Taiba safe house in Pakistan in March 2002. Early activities Lashkar-e-Taiba made its first incursions into Jammu and Kashmir in 1993. In the late 1990s it was alleged that Lashkar-e-Taiba received funding from agencies of the Pakistani government, an allegation the government denied. The group began operating in the Jammu region, which had large numbers of non-Muslims. Working in conjunction with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba began a program of attacks against Hindus and Sikhs. Lashkar-e-Taiba attacks were often aimed at civilians. Beginning in 1999, Lashkar-e-Taiba conducted a series of suicide attacks against Indian security forces, often targeting seemingly secure headquarters. In such attacks, Lashkar-e-Taiba forces were outnumbered and eventually killed, though not before killing Indian troops and causing extensive damage. In 2000 Lashkar-e-Taiba had a falling out with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, which had declared a short-lived cease-fire with India. The group lost more allies in 2001, after the September 11 attacks on the United States led to the removal of the Taliban government in Afghanistan by U.S.-led military forces. On December 13 that year, Lashkar-e-Taiba undertook a suicide attack on India's parliament complex in the capital, New Delhi, in conjunction with Jaish-e-Moham
