Episode 153 is the third in a new series of episodes that chronicle the story of the Garrison investigation in New Orleans and the related trial of Clay Shaw. This episode gives Garrison the floor in 1967, recorded at a lecture attended by a supportive audience. He outlines his view (as the facts appeared to him at that moment) of what happened in the assassination. Few venues (including the 30 minute NBC rebuttal, which you also will hear later in the series) offer such a relaxed forum without a time constraint. A forum that a rare and relaxed glimpse of Jim Garrison and his mindset during that period of time. Jim Garrison was the New Orleans district attorney and, a result of his investigation into the murder of JFK, Clay Shaw was indicted by a grand jury and tried on conspiracy charges to assassinate the president. It was the only criminal trial ever conducted in the United States related to the president's murder. Garrison's investigation and trial became the inspiration and partial basis for Oliver Stone's movie JFK. Today's episode introduces us to more Jim Garrison's thinking as a precursor to understanding the details of the Clay Shaw trial and to help in our own understanding of the actions taken by Garrison and his thinking which shaped the events of the grand jury investigation and the subsequent trial. All of these elements are designed to, collectively, help you as the juror determine Garrison's proper place in the history of the JFK assassination story. NO TE OLVIDES DAR A ME GUSTA. Three of the greatest detectives in the world--a renowned FBI agent turned private eye, a sculptor and lothario who speaks to the dead, and an eccentric profiler known as "the living Sherlock Holmes"-were heartsick over the growing tide of unsolved murders. Good friends and sometime rivals William Fleisher, Frank Bender, and Richard Walter decided one day over lunch that something had to be done, and pledged themselves to a grand quest for justice. The three men invited the greatest collection of forensic investigators ever assembled, drawn from five continents, to the Downtown Club in Philadelphia to begin an audacious quest: to bring the coldest killers in the world to an accounting. Named for the first modern detective, the Parisian eugène François Vidocq-the flamboyant Napoleonic real-life sleuth who inspired Sherlock Holmes-the Vidocq Society meets monthly in its secretive chambers to solve a cold murder over a gourmet lunch.
