Episode 236 is the thirteenth in a series of episodes where we begin to explore the radical right groups of the 1960's that clearly had great motive to murder president Kennedy. Emerging, alongside civil rights leaders, as a prime target for ire of white racists, anti-communists, and and a wide variety of other conservative groups, President Kennedy was a a target among them all. This aspect of the assassination and the connection of the radical right is little explored. We started many episodes back, with the story of Joseph Milteer but its rather easy to pull on that string and find much more underneath the covers. Today's episode a bonus episode covering more on the Clinton tie in and the litigation and investigations that defined those moments and the real reason Oswald was in Clinton. Today's episode supplements the two part mini-series on this topic. As a juror, listen to this episode as we tell the real story of why Lee Harvey Oswald's handlers took him to Clinton. Sit back as we explain how the social context of the story in part 1 which takes us all the way back to the House Un-American Committee and the Senate SiSS committee. Both of these government committees were actively investigating subversives at the time and engaged with Guy Bannister and others to help do so. Part 2 ties it all together and tells the story of how the raid at the Southern Conference Education Fund was an integral piece of this puzzle. Part 3 explores the larger Context of the fight in Clinton and why it was the tie in for the radical right and their violent resistance to the voter registration drives that were going on in the day. Clinton was a much larger historical factor than has previously been discussed in the JFK story. The story and explanations in this two part miniseries may be the most plausible explanation yet for what Oswald was doing in Clinton and the next episode 235 presents the details of why this seems so believable. Much of this theory comes from author Jeff Caufield's book entitled General Walker and the Murder of President Kennedy. As the jury, you be the judge of whether this was the real reason Oswald went to Clinton. And then ponder what it means for how Oswald might have been used in Dallas and just who deployed him there... Join us throughout this series on the radical right as we highlight th the nexus of ultra right wing characters that help us understand more intuitively how the radical right may have fit into the picture of the assassination. Characters that advance our understanding of the nexus of connections between a wide array of actors within the radical right. And with this exercise, we show how so many of these connections lead back to New Orleans and Dallas and to particular figures of the radical right including Guy Bannister. A nexus of connections with a common thread of hatred for President Kennedy. Even as early as 1964, rumors and serious concerns over the lone gunman theory and the evidence that might contravene it, were becoming a major concern for the government and the commission. Conspiracy theories were contrary to the government's stated narrative from the very beginning. This real-life story is more fascinating than fiction. No matter whether you are a serious researcher or a casual student, you will enjoy the fact filled narrative and story as we relive one of the most shocking moments in American History. An event that changed the nation and changed the world forever.

During this season 2 of Solving JFK, we set out to answer the question “Who was Lee Harvey Oswald, really?” Like everything else in the JFK Assassination, to answer that question, we have to address multiple sub-questions, most of which have inconsistent evidence and disputed answers. In part 1 of this season 2 conclusion episode, we look back at the body of evidence that was covered over the last 32 episodes to try to provide an answer to some of the most important questions about the life of Lee Harvey Oswald? In this episode, we answer these questions: When did Oswald begin to express an interest in Marxism? And was his interest genuine? When did Oswald learn to speak Russian and how fluent was he?When Oswald went to the Soviet Union was he a bona fide defector who wanted to experience Soviet Russia or was he a false defector sent on behalf of an intelligence agency? What was George de Mohrenschildt's role in Oswald's life?Did Oswald work with Guy Banister in New Orleans?Did Oswald travel to Jackson and Clinton, Louisiana with David Ferrie and Clay Shaw?Is Jim Garrison's story about Oswald meeting with David Ferrie and Clay Shaw to plan a conspiracy to kill Kennedy true?

Conspiracy Weary Month's final installment takes us back to a sweltering New Orleans summer in 1990, when an innocent request for pancakes landed young Christopher — and his adorable dog — on the set of one of Hollywood's biggest films, ultimately giving birth to a lifelong obsession that has now claimed Eric Shaw Quinn as well. (Almost.) That obsession is the lies, bigger lies and damn lies in Oliver Stone's overwrought, unwieldy and at times barely comprehensible film, JFK, a Hollywood hack job that turns a corrupt, criminal real life New Orleans district attorney into an ethical crusader for truth. In addition, the film further maligns the reputation of Clay Shaw, whose only apparent crime was being discreet about his homosexuality, a fact Garrison used to his corrupt advantage. While it's distortions were roundly derided upon its release, they didn't stop its success at the box office, and its homophobia has gone largely unquestioned over the years. Don't worry. Christopher and Eric are more than up to the ask.
I am joined by Jeff Crudele from JFK: The Enduring Secret to discuss the second half of our series on Lee Harvey Oswald in New Orleans in the Summer of 1963. And was Garrison able to establish the facts that he set out to prove? JFK researchers Don Jeffries and William Law joined guest host Richard Syrett (Twitter) to discuss the connections between Dean Andrews, Clay Shaw, Guy Bannister, and Lee Harvey Oswald, and others, as part of their continued search for the truth in JFK's assassination. Jeffries explained the significance of the title of their book, "Pipe the Bimbo in Red," as a reference to a scene in Oliver Stone's 1991 film "JFK" featuring Dean Andrews and Jim Garrison. Law emphasized how the phrase relates to Andrews' and Garrison's relationship, linking it to the themes in the book.Jeffries delved into the intricacies of the connections between various individuals involved in the JFK assassination, noting Andrews' involvement, and the significance in bringing attention to the mysterious phone call from "Clay Bertrand," possibly Shaw, which sparked interest in Garrison's investigation. Law highlighted Andrews' use of colorful language and his portrayal in the media, and testimony to the FBI and the Warren Commission, suggesting that he may have been manipulated. They discussed Andrews' character, his interactions with Garrison, and his testimony regarding the Kennedy assassination. Both delved into the complex connections between various individuals involved in the New Orleans nexus, including Shaw, Bannister, and Oswald. They discussed Shaw's ties to intelligence agencies, Banister's association with Oswald, and the peculiar circumstances surrounding these relationships. Additionally, they examined the role of other figures like Warren DeBrue and David Ferrie, highlighting the interconnectedness of the events and individuals surrounding the Kennedy assassination in New Orleans.Jeffries elaborated further on Shaw's connections, including ties to powerful interests, such as intelligence agencies and Operation Paperclip. Shaw's involvement suggests deeper complexities behind the JFK assassination, he noted. Jeffries touched on Bannister's background as a former FBI employee with extreme right-wing views. Bannister's proximity to Oswald's activities raises questions about their relationship and possible involvement in the assassination plot, he added. They emphasized the importance of New Orleans in the JFK assassination narrative, highlighting the presence of various intelligence agencies, suspicious connections, and the role of key figures like Warren DeBrue. Jeffries suggested that Oswald may have been part of a false defection program and had deeper connections than commonly portrayed. They challenged the notion of Oswald as a lone malcontent and instead theorized he was part of a larger, more complex network of relationships that may have been involved in the assassination plot.------------------------------------------------The remainder of the program featured Open Lines. On today's show, Fred Litwin discusses the JFK assassination, addressing questions about who shot JFK, the existence of witnesses, his journey from conspiracy theories to believing in Lee Harvey Oswald as the lone gunman, and the forensic proof that challenges popular conspiracy narratives. He also critiques Oliver Stone's film "JFK: Destiny Betrayed" and explains why he believes Stone was wrong. GUEST OVERVIEW: Fred Litwin is the author of three books on the JFK assassination. His works include "Oliver Stone's Film-Flam: The Demagogue of Dealey Plaza" in 2023, "On the Trail of Delusion—Jim Garrison: The Great Accuser" in 2020, and "I was a Teenage JFK Conspiracy Freak" in 2018. - In I was a Teenage JFK Conspiracy Freak, Fred recounts how he became a JFK conspiracy freak at eighteen, and then slowly moved to believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman. Fred's book also demonstrated how the left and the right have used the JFK assassination to drive home myths about power in America. - On the Trail of Delusion -- Jim Garrison: The Great Accuser recounts the supposed investigation into the JFK assassination by the District Attorney of New Orleans Jim Garrison. In 1967, he charged an innocent gay man, Clay Shaw, of conspiring to kill JFK. The case took two years to come to trial and Shaw was acquitted in less than fifty minutes. Garrison then charged him with two counts of perjury and it took another two years to get those charges quashed. - Oliver Stone's Film-Flam: The Demagogue of Dealey Plaza is an in-depth analysis of Stone's so-called documentary series on the JFK assassination, JFK: Destiny Betrayed. Fred dissected all of Stone's major claims and debunks them one by one.
Sixty years ago today in Dallas, Texas, Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed President John Kennedy. For almost as long, various (often contradictory) conspiracy theories about that day have been circulating. Gerald Posner used overwhelming evidence and logic to dismantle these theories in his classic book Case Closed, first published in 1993 and re-issued with updates in the three decades since then.David Priess spoke with Gerald about why some anniversaries of major events resonate more than others; the limits of memory; what drove him to first research and write about the Kennedy assassination; what actually happened on November 22, 1963; early conspiracy thinking about it; Jim Garrison's flawed investigation of Clay Shaw; Oliver Stone and his influential film JFK; speculation about the Dealey Plaza "umbrella man" and about Cuban government involvement; decades of US government document releases; new memories from a former Secret Service agent; the impact of grand conspiracy thinking on society; and more.Among the works mentioned in this episode:The book Case Closed by Gerald PosnerThe book Reclaiming History by Vincent BugliosiThe book Hitler's Children by Gerald PosnerThe book Rush to Judgment by Mark LaneThe book Six Days in Dallas by Josiah ThompsonThe movie JFKThe Lawfare Podcast episode The JFK Assassination Documents, with Gerald Posner and Mark Zaid (December 22, 2021)The book Day of the Jackal by Fredrick ForsythChatter is a production of Lawfare and Goat Rodeo. HO BOY. Here we GO. TRIGGER WARNING FOR GUNSHOTS and a lot of other really upsetting nonsense this week, lil onions. Today, we are blessedly closing out our coverage of Oliver Stone's truly unhinged dramatization of the assassination of John F. Kennedy with part two of JFK (1991). The trial of Clay Shaw begins and so does the rising of Ross's blood pressure. This week, we are cracking open one of the most frustrating nuts in American history through Oliver Stone's historical dramatization, JFK (1991). We're so tired we can't even see straight, y'all. Ross's one ask for mainfeed this year was covering this incredibly long message board dump known as JFK, Oliver Stone's dramatization of the events surrounding the trial of Clay Shaw and his alleged connections to the assassination of president John F. Kennedy, and one New Orleans DA's mission to prove that the killing was a carefully orchestrated mission to eliminate Kennedy from the political landscape by entities both foreign and domestic. TRIGGER WARNING for racism, sexism, and white men being awful in general, as well as gunshot sound effects. Stay tuned for special segments of Ross' History Corner, as well as Carie screaming and groaning through all of the "information" introduced through Stone's film. Guys, do your own reading on the JFK assassination, because the math isn't mathing, but Oliver Stone also bends over backwards to misrepresent verifiable facts. Glad you could join us on this long, frustrating journey. Look out for part two next week! SUPPORT US ON PATREON!
Episode 188 is the first in a two part mini- series wander covering the Reverend Raymond Broshears. Broshears was one of the most bizarre witnesses that surfaced during the Garrison investigation. He met David Ferrie in New Orleans and became rather good friends with him. They were sexual partners as well. According to the story that the good Reverend told back in the day, Ferrie confided in Broshears after the fact, regarding his involvement in the assassination plot to kill the president, with Ferrie participating as the pilot who was to fly two of the assassins out of the country. The two men were purportedly the shooters who were situated on the Grassy Knoll. The assassins changed the plan and apparently escaped by others means, thereby eliminating the need for Ferrie to fly them out of the country. Broshears was a homosexual who was also an ordained minister. Among his many notable notable assertions, he claimed to have had sex with Lee Harvey Oswald. After a sordid period of his life in which he was charged with sex crimes involving a minor, he would make his way to New Orleans and begin a tail that you will hear in this episode and capped off by his testimony to the House Select Committee on Assassinations some ten years after his interviews with the Garrison team. After 1965, he moved to California in search of a new start in his life, and ended up as a rather controversial figure out there. Broshears appeared on a local Southern California television show, where he revealed the startling fact that he knew Ferrie and he told the story rather matter of factly to the television audience of what Ferrie told him of his involvement in the assassination. The show happened to be watched by a Garrison investigator living in the area, and Garrison and his team immediately moved to interview Broshears. Four interviews were conducted, including two which took place in New Orleans. However, Garrison and his team, while they believed Broshears was telling the truth about the basic facts related to Ferrie, declined to use him in the Clay Shaw trial. Listen to this episode, which includes the audio from that original television appearance, and I think you will understand why. Even so, he is an important part of the history of the investigation and we leave it up to you as a juror to determine which parts of his testimony may be credible.
Episode 189 is the second and last in a two part mini- series wander covering the Reverend Raymond Broshears. In today's final mini-series "wander" episode, we present Broshears' taped audio deposition that he gave to the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA). Broshears was one of the most bizarre witnesses that surfaced during the Garrison investigation. He met David Ferrie in New Orleans and became rather good friends with him. They were sexual partners as well. After a sordid period of his life in which he was charged with sex crimes involving a minor, he would make his way to New Orleans and begin a tail that you will hear in these two episodes and capped off by today's rendering of his testimony to the House Select Committee on Assassinations which occurred some ten years after his interviews with the Garrison team. After 1965, he moved to California in search of a new start in his life, and ended up as a rather controversial figure out there. Broshears appeared on a local Southern California television show, where he revealed the startling fact that he knew Ferrie and he told the story rather matter of factly to the television audience regarding what Ferrie told him of his involvement in the assassination. Episode 187 is the fifth and final in a multi-part series covering Richard Case Nagell. This is third bonus episode as well, and it may be the the most interesting one yet. Addressing the Eroshkin incident, the Luma Hotel, and the death of Marine Emmett Dugan. Richard Case Nagell was a highly decorated United States Army veteran, counterintelligence officer, and former CIA Double Agent for a brief period with ties to Russia. Nagell was arrested on September 20, 1963 after he entered the State National Bank in El Paso, Texas and fired two shots into a wall at the bank. After firing the 45 calibre pistol, Nagel allowed himself to be taken into custody at the bank. Nagell had observed and then penetrated a group that included Lee Harvey Oswald and learned that they were planning the assassination of President Kennedy. Working as a double agent, he refused to execute the orders given by his Russian handler which was to foil the assassination plot by convincing Oswald that he was being set up as a patsy or, in the event he was not successful in doing that, to kill Oswald instead. Shortly before the bank incident, Nagell sent a letter to J. Edgar Hoover exposing the plot. Not surprisingly, the letter was never acknowledged by the FBI. Nagell met twice with New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison who at the time was investigating Clay Shaw's possible complicity in the assassination. The famous character Mr. X in Oliver Stone's movie JFK is modeled after Richard Case Nagell. Nagell, like so many other characters in the JFK story, had a fascinating life and he first crossed paths with Oswald while Oswald was stationed in Japan at Atsugi Air Force Base. He would survive two military airplane crashes but the injuries sustained in the most serious of the two crashes were later hypothesized to have possibly impacted his mental health and they were the subject of an intense examination during his criminal trial related to the bank charges. Nagell died at the age of 65 in Los Angeles, California...one day after receiving his subpoena to appear before the Assassination Records Review Board. It would have been his first ever appearance under oath to discuss what he knew about the assassination. Previously, he had not testified or given statements about it to any government arm that was officially investigating the assassination. Although he officially died of a heart attack, he had no previous history of heart problems and is included in that dubious category of mysterious deaths that occurred amongst witnesses in the aftermath of the assassination. Richard Case Nagell may be the single most fascinating character in the JFK story, and Nagell's story is yet another moment where fact is stranger than fiction in the case of the JFK assassination. Episode 186 is the fourth in a multi-part series covering Richard Case Nagell. This is our second bonus episode and it addresses the perspective that Nagell's trial lawyer Joe Calamia had on his legal proceedings...and the strategy for a defense at the second trial. Nagell's lawyers settled on a temporary insanity plea, after unsuccessfully arguing to both their client and to the court, that Nagell was insane...and thus, should be hospitalized and not prosecuted and incarcerated. The legal machinations by his lawyers to free him from prison using these tactics, served to muddy the water about Nagell's true psychiatric state. Today, we hear the story of Joe Calamia in the case and his perspective, which may provide additional insight into Nagell's mental state around that time in 1963. Episode 185 is the third in a multi-part series covering Richard Case Nagell. This is our first bonus episode and it covers several important topics in a bit greater detail. Bonus episodes provide a deeper understanding of material already addressed. Today, we discuss the horrific plane crash that handed him is life changing injuries, the letters he wrote to J. Edgar Hoover and some details related to the bank incident itself that may provide additional insight into what his intentions were that day. Episode 179 is the second and last in a two part series covering Charles I. Spiesel, the zany accountant from New York who testified at the Clay Shaw Trial. This is a classic story of a witness that began with all the potential to sink Clay Shaw. Professional and articulate on the stand, his testimony for the prosecution was clear and convincing. But it only lasted for a few minutes, as he was destroyed upon cross examination by Irvin Dymond the defense attorney for Clay Shaw. This story is so bizarre that we won't even try to reveal it in this narrative. You will have to listen to both episode 178 and 179. Some say that if there was only one prosecution witness who destroyed the case, it would be Charles Spiesel. This is yet another moment where fact is stranger than fiction in the case of the JFK assassination. Oliver Stone's Film-Flam: The Demagogue of Dealey Plaza is Fred Litwin's fourth book. In 2020, he published On the Trail of Delusion—Jim Garrison: The Great Accuser, which chronicled Garrison's persecution of Clay Shaw. In 2018, he published I Was a Teenage JFK Conspiracy Freak, detailing his journey from believing in a JFK conspiracy at eighteen to slowly moving to believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone assassin. In 2015, he released Conservative Confidential about his move from left-wing anti- nuclear activist to Conservative Party campaigner. Fred joins TCT today to talk about why The JFK Conspiracy shouldn't be taken seriously, based on the evidence alone. Why Oliver Stone is reaching and has made a SECOND attempt to drum up theories about the death of JFK for personal gain and profit. How Oliver Stone's theories have damaged and destroyed lives and how he uses unreliable sources. and, how if you study the documentation from the Warren Commission and it's players. it will unfold all the truths behind the assassination...
