Frederik Pohl-Biografía (1919-2013) fue un mítico escritor y editor de ciencia ficción estadounidense galardonado con cuatro premios Hugo y tres Nébula, durante sus más de setenta y cinco años de carrera. Con Pórtico, su obra más relevante, consiguió en 1977 hacer historia al llevarse los premios Hugo, Nébula, John W. Campbell y Locus. Con ella inició, además, su aclamada «Saga de los Heechee», una auténtica serie de culto integrada por Pórtico, Tras el incierto horizonte, El encuentro y Los anales de los Heechee, todas ellas publicadas en Nova. Episode 013 of the AboutSF podcast is a recording of Mary A. Turzillo reading the epilogue from the Frederik Pohl novel Beyond the Blue Event Horizon, which was first published in 1980. Mary A. Turzillo has published numerous works of fiction and poetry.  Her story “Mars Is No Place for Children” won the 2000 Nebula award for best novelette, and her novel An Old-Fashioned Martian Girl was serialized in Analog from July to November in 2004.  Mary’s 2007 collection of poetry, Your Cat & Other Space Aliens, published by VanZeno Press, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. This epilogue from Frederik Pohl’s novel Beyond the Blue Event Horizon was read by Mary as part of the festivities at the 2011 Campbell Conference.

Frederik Pohl’s career as a writer and editor spans over seventy years from his first published work “Elegy to a Dead Planet: Luna” in 1937, to his most recent novel, All the Lives He Led, published by Tor in 2011. He is a multiple Nebula and Hugo award winner, as well as a recipient of the National Book Award. Mr. Pohl’s other awards are too numerous to list. His beloved works include The Space Merchants, written with Cyril M. Kornbluth, and the Heechee series of novels.
