Don Pezet, CTO of ACI Learning, sits down to share his over 25 years of experience in the industry. Don previously spent time as a field engineer in the financial and insurance industries supporting networks around the world. He co-founded ITProTV in 2012 to help create the IT training that he wished he had when he got started in his IT career. He also shares insights for anyone else wishing to pursue IT, no matter their age or past experience. Don explains how important stepping stones are as you get into this field, stating "know that that first job you get is probably not going to be the job you want to have your whole life, but it's a stepping stone that leads to where you want to get." Don started teaching on the side as well as working in the IT field and explains how much his teaching skills come in handy to help him with his leadership skills, which in turn helps him to be a better CTO, helping his customers. We thank Don for sharing his story.

Ronnie started off at ITProTV as an Edutainer to progressing into the Edutainer Manager role within the last 7 months.During this episode, George and Ronnie discuss the best route into networking and emphasise that you should not be afraid to take on a job that isn't specified to what you think it should be. You should take the opportunity that is in front of you and ask yourself if there is an opportunity to progress. Ronnie also discusses the importance of learning the fundamentals and getting through the first steps of Networking, which is ultimately the hardest part. If you don't have that firm foundation, what follows won't be enjoyable for you. Learn more about Ronnie here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/theronniewong/

Wes Bryan - ITPROTV talks Tech, Bill Gates feels Crypto and NFTs are based on Greater Fool Theory, Is Fiber worth it? Can I use my old monitor on my new computer?
In this week's show, Phil talks to Don Pezet, the CTO and Lead Edutainer at ITPro.TV. He has been working in the IT industry since 1997 and has been training others since 2001. He is a certified trainer with many vendors including Microsoft, CompTIA, Google and Cisco. His combination of real-world experience, textbook knowledge, and a questionable sense of humour have helped him to entertain and educate thousands of people. Don talks about why it's vital that we are continually learning throughout our IT journey. He also discusses we should never settle when it comes to our IT career. KEY TAKEAWAYS: TOP CAREER TIP Always do your best to be continually learning and developing, even in your spare time, which can provide a fun and experimental time. Make IT your passion and always look at what is possible. WORST CAREER MOMENT Don worked with a student who did not correctly implement a server and its functionality. This led to a huge loss of data. CAREER HIGHLIGHT Don has overseen the implementation and creation of many systems from scratch, taking advantage of new technologies and helping to found new ways of working that have lasted. ITProTV’s newest edutainer, Kathy Chambers, was this week’s guest on Technado to talk about the new audit courses she’s hosting. She also played ‘Virus or Gibberish,’ where the panel tried to guess if something was a real virus or made up based only on its weird name. Trojan Panda Banker, anyone? In the news, the crew looked at Google Cloud’s big revenue losses in 2020, Ubuntu 21.04 switching to Wayland, Raspberry Pi OS adding a Microsoft repository that phones home, and Google booting The Great Suspender Chrome extension for being malware. In listener mail, they dissected the attempted hack of a Florida town’s water treatment plant. Finally, in the WTF segment, the team talked about how scientists have taught spinach to send email. Lookout, Popeye.
