Sophie Auster is a singer-songwriter and released her first album at the age of sixteen. It featured her own lyrics and poems set to music by her father, Paul Auster. Sophie is his and Siri Hustvedt's only daughter and for a long time she struggled with the writer couple's fame and the fact that many people projected things on her. Yet with her warm, expressive voice and her melancholic and tender songs, she has long been a household name on the international indie music scene. Her song “Little Bird” won her the top prize at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and in Spain she was named “Singer of the Year” by Cosmopolitan Magazine in 2017. She attracted attention as an actress starting as a child, and most recently appearing in “The Zurich Affair”. She is currently on tour in Europe with her latest album “Milk for Ulcers”. For FREIHEIT DELUXE, Sophie and Jagoda met in the studio the day after Sophie's Barcelona concert - their encounter resulted in an unusually intimate conversation. Sophie talks about the memory of her father, the “ultimate defender of the family” and how much it means to be part of the “Blue Team” - in other words, to be one of the people who are where they are needed. Together with Jagoda, she reflects on how she has learned to embrace her family history instead of constantly separating herself from it. However, the great love of her parents and their inspiring relationship could not save her from some of the dangers she had to face alone as an adolescent. And finally, she describes to Jagoda in honest words what has been bothering her since the “Orange Man” returned to power in the United States… Here you can hear, how Sophie Auster finds freedom on stage (4:43) what kind of difficulties she faced during adolescence (12.16) what it feels like to have a baby and losing someone at the same time (29:37) which song she wrote for her dad (38:17) how she feels about being labelled “Indie” (47:44) the way she thinks artists should take a political stand (54:44) how come she picked music as her choice to become an artist (1:07:50) Sophie's revelation about her mysterious album title “Milk for Ulcers” (1:14:55) FREEDOM DELUXE with Jagoda Marinić is a Hessischer Rundfunk production in cooperation with the German Publishers and Booksellers Association. Fred Wilmot, CEO and co-founder of Detecteam, and Sebastien Tricaud, CTO and co-founder, bring a candid and critical take on cybersecurity's detection and response problem. Drawing on their collective experience—from roles at Splunk, Devo, and time spent in defense and offensive operations—they raise a core question: does any of the content, detections, or tooling security teams deploy actually work? The Detecteam founders challenge the industry's obsession with metrics like mean time to detect or respond, pointing out that these often measure operational efficiency—not true risk readiness. Instead, they propose a shift in thinking: stop optimizing broken processes and start creating better ones.At the heart of their work is a new approach to detection engineering—one that continuously generates and validates detections based on actual behavior, environmental context, and adversary tactics. It's about moving away from one-size-fits-all IOCs toward purpose-built, context-aware detections that evolve as threats do.Sebastien highlights the absurdity of relying on static, signature-based detection in a world of dynamic threats. Adversaries constantly change tactics, yet detection rules often sit unchanged for months. The platform they've built breaks detection down into a testable, iterative process—closing the gap between intel, engineering, and operations. Teams no longer need to rely on hope or external content packs—they can build, test, and validate detections in minutes.Fred explains the benefit in terms any CISO can understand: this isn't just detection—it's readiness. If a team can build a working detection in under 15 minutes, they beat the average breakout time of many attackers. That's a tangible advantage, especially when operating with limited personnel. This conversation isn't about a silver bullet or more noise—it's about clarity. What's working? What's not? And how do you know? For organizations seeking real impact in their security operations—not just activity—this episode explores a path forward that's faster, smarter, and grounded in reality.Learn more about Detecteam: https://itspm.ag/detecteam-21686Note: This story contains promotional content. The episode explores the nuances of cybersecurity metrics, emphasizing that it's not just about having metrics, but having the right metrics that truly reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of a security program.Stott discusses his journey from red team operations to blue team roles, where he has focused on detection and response. His dual perspective provides a nuanced understanding of both offensive and defensive security strategies. Stott highlights a common issue in cybersecurity: the misalignment of metrics with organizational goals. He points out that many teams inherit metrics that may not accurately reflect their current state or objectives. Instead, metrics should be strategically chosen to guide decision-making and improve security posture. One of his key messages is the importance of understanding what specific metrics are meant to convey and ensuring they are directly actionable. In his framework, aptly named SAVER (Streamlined, Awareness, Vigilance, Exploration, Readiness), Stott outlines a holistic approach to security metrics. Streamlined focuses on operational efficiencies achieved through better tools and processes. Awareness pertains to the dissemination of threat intelligence and ensuring that the most critical information is shared across the organization. Vigilance involves preparing for and understanding top threats through informed threat hunting. Exploration encourages the proactive discovery of vulnerabilities and security gaps through threat hunts and incident analysis. Finally, Readiness measures the preparedness and efficacy of incident response plans, emphasizing the coverage and completeness of playbooks over mere response times.Martin and Stott also discuss the challenge of metrics in smaller organizations, where resources may be limited. Stott suggests that simplicity can be powerful, advocating for a focus on key risks and leveraging publicly available threat intelligence. His advice to smaller teams is to prioritize understanding the most significant threats and tailoring responses accordingly. The conversation underscores a critical point: metrics should not just quantify performance but also drive strategic improvements. By asking the right questions and focusing on actionable insights, cybersecurity teams can better align their efforts with their organization's broader goals. For those interested in further insights, Stott mentions his upcoming talks at B-Sides Las Vegas and Blue Team Con in Chicago, where he will expand on these concepts and share more about his Threat Detection and Response Maturity Model. In conclusion, this episode serves as a valuable guide for cybersecurity professionals looking to refine their approach to metrics, making them more meaningful and aligned with their organization's strategic objectives.___________________________Watch this and other videos on ITSPmagazine's YouTube ChannelRedefining CyberSecurity Podcast with Sean Martin, CISSP playlist:

The season culminates in a three-part epic where the X-Men must unite against a formidable new threat, challenging their unity and the dream of peaceful mutant-human coexistence Episode 6: “Lifedeath (Part 2)” Directed by: Chase Conley Written by: Beau DeMayo Release Date: April 17, 2024 Summary: During a war between the Shi’ar and Kree empires, Shi’ar empress Lilandra Neramani announces her engagement to a now-healed Xavier. Refusing to accept her sister marrying a Terran, Deathbird invokes the Rite of M’Dashaa and challenges Xavier to purge all his memories of Earth to prove his loyalty to the Shi’ar. Xavier’s refusal to renounce his memories of the X-Men results in a battle between the Shi’ar Imperial Guard and Deathbird’s supporters until Xavier pulls everyone into the astral plane to educate them on co-existence. When this lesson is interrupted by a psychic vision of Gambit’s death, Xavier returns to Earth. At the ranch, Forge uses his mother’s spell book to expel the demon and then Storm helps him search for a rare cactus that cures the poison. Storm finds the cactus in a cave but is again cornered by the Adversary. Overcoming her fears, Storm regains her powers and defeats the Adversary. Storm heals Forge, and then they learn about the attack on Genosha. Elsewhere, Trask is confronted by Mister Sinister who warns that Genosha was just the beginning. Episode 7: “Bright Eyes” Directed by: Emi Yonemura Written by: Beau DeMayo Release Date: April 24, 2024 Summary: As the X-Men hold a funeral for Gambit, Rogue angrily searches for Gyrich and Trask. After gaining information from General Thunderbolt Ross and Captain America, Rogue finds Gyrich in Mexico and absorbs his memories. Gyrich is murdered later that night. While assisting in the recovery efforts at Genosha, the X-Men are contacted by a terrified Trask who tells them that he is in Madripoor. They get Rogue on the way. Roberto and Jubilee visit Roberto’s mother and tell her that he is a mutant; she asks him to keep his identity a secret. In Madripoor, the X-Men learn that Sinister and the UN’s secret “OZT” division have been developing a highly advanced Sentinel program. Rogue drops Trask to his death, unknowingly activating programming that turns him into a human–Sentinel hybrid. Cable arrives, defeats Trask with an EMP, and explains that Sinister is working with a greater threat that they must stop. This threat, who murdered Gyrich, is Bastion. He reveals to Sinister that Xavier is alive in space and that Magneto, presumed dead in the Genosha attack, is also alive and is Bastion’s prisoner. Episode 8: “Tolerance is Extinction (Part 1)” Directed by: Jake Castorena Written by: Beau DeMayo Release Date: May 1, 2024 Summary: Part 1 : The UN reveals to the world that Xavier is alive, inciting an anti-mutant protest outside the school. Cable explains to the X-Men that the Genosha massacre is an “absolute point” in time that cannot be changed, and Bastion will use it to start a 300-year war that will lead to the enslavement of mutants in a human utopia. Cyclops, Jean, and Cable travel to Harmony, Pennsylvania, where they learn that Bastion is a human–machine hybrid who was conceived after his father was infected with part of the advanced, time-traveling Sentinel Nimrod. Members of “Operation: Zero Tolerance” (OZT) express concern over the massacre and ask Dr. Cooper to monitor Bastion, who explains to her how he is turning humans into Prime Sentinels like Trask using Sinister’s techno-organic virus. Prime Sentinels activate around the globe, attack mutants, and burn down Xavier’s school. A horrified Cooper releases Magneto, who creates a world-wide blackout that kills thousands of people and shuts down all of the Prime Sentinels. Wolverine fears that Magneto has declared war as Xavier returns and summons the X-Men. Episode 9: “Tolerance is Extinction (Part 2)” Directed by: Chase Conley Written by: Beau DeMayo Release Date: May 8, 2024 Summary: Part 2 : Xavier is met with some distrust, but the X-Men focus on stopping Bastion and convincing Magneto to reverse his blackout. Magneto re-establishes his mutant haven on Asteroid M, choosing to leave the Earth without power and rejecting Xavier’s dream of mutant/human co-existence. He invites the X-Men to join him, which Rogue and Roberto do. The rest of the X-Men return to their former base on Muir Island to regroup, before splitting into two teams: Cyclops’s Blue Team goes to Asteroid M to confront Magneto while Storm and Jean’s Gold Team heads to Bastion’s hideout in the Galápagos Islands. Beast and Forge create a collar that can block Bastion’s technopathy and sever his control over the Sentinels. The Gold Team battles an army of Bastion-controlled Sentinels and Sinister, who takes control of Cable’s mind and uses him to overpower Jean; she sends a desperate psychic message to Cyclops. On Asteroid M, Xavier attempts to take control of Magneto’s mind but is blocked. Wolverine stabs and seriously injures Magneto who begins ripping the adamantium metal from Wolverine’s skeleton. Episode 10: “Tolerance is Extinction (Part 3)” Directed by: Emi Yonemura Written by: Beau DeMayo Release Date: May 15, 2024 Summary: Part 3 : With Wolverine critically injured, Xavier takes control of Magneto and restores power to Earth, fracturing Magneto’s mind. Jean—connecting to the cosmic power of the Phoenix—places the collar on Bastion, restoring the Prime Sentinels’ humanity, and reverses Sinister’s mutant augmentations which frees Cable. The X-Men fight to prevent Bastion from crashing Asteroid M into Earth and causing a new extinction event. Still, it plummets after the U.S. government launches missiles at the asteroid hoping to destroy it. With Xavier’s help, Magneto regains consciousness and sends the asteroid into space. It explodes and most of the X-Men are presumed dead. Six months later, Bishop arrives and tells Forge that the X-Men are trapped in time: Cyclops and Jean are in 3960 A.D., a desolate future where they encounter Mother Askani and a young Nathan; and Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, Xavier, and Magneto are in Ancient Egypt in 3000 B.C. where they meet En Sabah Nur, a young version of Apocalypse. In a mid-credits scene, Apocalypse finds one of Gambit’s playing cards in present-day Genosha. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube: https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK Check out the site too! - https://bit.ly/3u8dilD We're still assessing the results of spring football for the Penn State Nittany Lions on today's show. After six weeks of practice and the Blue-White Game, where do players stand within their position heading into the summer months of player-led training? We're looking at the key positions heading out of spring football on today's BWI Live. Join the show at 10 am on YouTube or check out the replay here, embedded in this article. Penn State offensive breakdown There's little change with the team's top two positions on offense. Quarterback Drew Allar played the majority of the team's starting reps, with backup Beau Pribula taking two series with the top offensive line and receivers. But what about the position battle at running back? Penn State's young players put on a show this spring, and despite missing time, freshman Quinton Martin showed impressive skill in the Blue-White Game. We'll discuss where the battle for the third running back spot is between Martin and Cam Wallace. Unlike running back, wide receiver is a much messier and more complicated picture. Why was transfer Julian Fleming on the Blue Team? What can we make of the team's performance from this spring? We'll discuss how Penn State has generally used its wide receivers from a positional perspective and then discuss how a team makes them positionless within an offense. Tight End gives an incomplete picture How Penn State plans to use its tight ends is very different than what we saw during the Blue-White Game. However, we have some clues about where the competition stands on Saturday for the backup job to starter Tyler Warren. Finally, we'll try to explain how Penn State used its offensive linemen, specifically in relation to freshman Cooper Cousins. Will he play center or guard this year and what led to him starting at right guard during the Blue-White Game? We'll dive into the offensive line performance from this spring. Penn State Defense Lastly, we'll look at the Penn State defense and what sort of competition the team has at linebacker and cornerback. Will the team play just two linebackers this year? If so, how does veteran Dom DeLuca fit into that picture? We'll also discuss Ta'Mere Robinson's performance during the Blue-White game and where the defensive line will find room for five pass rushers in the lineup. Join the show today at 10 am to hear all of that and more! #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Post-Spring Penn State Football Positional Review Learn more about your ad choices. There is growing demand for cybersecurity professionals all around the world. According to the “2023 Official Cybersecurity Jobs Report,” sponsored by eSentire and released by Cybersecurity Ventures, there will be 3.5 million unfilled jobs in the cybersecurity industry through 2025. Furthermore, having these positions open can be costly. The researchers said damages resulting from cybercrime are expected to reach $10.5 trillion by 2025. In response to the escalating demand for adept cybersecurity professionals in the U.S., the Department of Energy (DOE) has tried to foster a well-equipped energy cybersecurity workforce through a hands-on operational technology cybersecurity competition with real-world challenges. On Nov. 4, the DOE hosted the ninth edition of its CyberForce Competition. The all-day event, led by DOE's Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), drew 95 teams—with nearly 550 students total—from universities and colleges across the nation. This year the focus was on distributed energy resources including solar panels and wind turbines. “The CyberForce Competition comes out of the Department of Energy's Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response, which is CESER for short,” Amanda Theel, group leader for workforce development at ANL, said as a guest on The POWER Podcast. “Their main goal for this is really to help develop the pipeline of qualified cybersecurity applicants for the energy sector. And I say that meaning, we really dive heavily on the competition and looking at the operational technology side, along with the information technology side.” Theel said each team gets about six or seven virtual machines (VMs) that they have to harden and defend to the best of their ability. Besides monitoring and protecting the VMs, which include normal business systems such as email and file servers, the teams also have to defend grid operations and other energy resources. “We have a Red Team that's constantly trying to either come into the system from your regular attack-defend penetration. We also have a portion of our Red Team that we like to call our ‘assumed breach,' so we assume that adversary is already in the system,” Theel explained. “The Blue Team, which is what we call our college students, their job is to work to try to get those Red Team members out.” She said they also have what they call “our whack-a-mole,” which are vulnerabilities built into the system for the Blue Team members to identify and patch. Besides the college students, ANL brings in volunteers—high school students, parents, grandparents, people from the lab, and people from the general public—to test websites and try to pay pretend bills by logging in and out of the simulated systems. Theel said this helps students understand that while security is important, they must also ensure that owners, operators, and end-users can still get in and use the systems as intended. “So, you have to kind of play the balance of that,” she said. Other distractions are also incorporated into the competition, such as routine meetings and requests from supervisors, for example, to review a forensics file and check the last time a person in question logged into the system. The intention is to overload the teams with tasks so evaluators can see if the most critical items are prioritized and remedied. For the second year in a row, a team from the University of Central Florida (UCF) won first place in the competition (Figure 1). They received a score of 8,538 out of 10,000. Theel said the scores do vary quite significantly from the top-performing teams to lower-ranked groups. “What we've found is obviously teams that have returned year after year already have that—I'll use the word expectation—of already knowing what to expect in the competition,” explained Theel. “Once they come to year two, we've definitely seen massive improvements with teams.”

Live from the Heart of America—I'm Steve Gruber— your Soldier of Truth ready to fight for you from the Foxhole of Freedom—asking the questions you wish you could and nobody else will—giving you better analysis and defending this great nation—this is the Steve Gruber Show— Here are 3 big things you need to know right now— Number One— The pandemic may have one more victim—and that is Tony Fauci—with Rand Paul accusing the Doc of lying to Congress—and sending an official criminal referral— Number Two— The Climate Zealots have a new Public Enemy #1— and its called Summer! And because they want to cancel July going forward—they are going after the farmers! If you thought food was expensive now—just wait! Number Three— The Department of Justice in the latest subtle move to hide the truth—actually took a shot at getting the star witness to the Biden corruption scandals—tossed in jail before he could appear before a hearing in front of Congress—which is set for a little bit later today— Devon Archer is the long time friend and business partner of Hunter Biden—and he is expected to tell members of Congress that Joe Biden—as Vice President—and maybe as President—was not only present—but an active participant in many of the shady dealings pulled off by Hunter and his friends— So, in one of the most blatant moves yet by Bidens Lieutenants to keep the scandal hidden—they are pushing for Archer to report to prison now—that according to brand new court documents and a letter that was sent on Saturday—that's right an official DOJ letter sent on the weekend! Nothing fishy about that of course— Archer was previously sentenced to one year in prison for a conviction all the way back in 2018—for a scheme to defraud Native Americans—to the tune of roughly $60 million dollars—Archer has been fighting the conviction and has been out on bail for months now—but his attorney says this latest development is unusual—and he will be filing a formal response by mid-week— This is just another bizarre twist—and it is being noticed by those on both sides of the aisle— Archer's attorney—said his client is aware of speculation that the DOJ move is an attempt by the Biden Administration to intimidate him before his appearance today behind closed doors with the House Oversight Committee— The attorney, Matthew Schwartz says his client doesn't believe that is why the DOJ is sending its demands on a weekend—BUT we do— Schwartz says Archer will be there—and will answer all the questions put to him honestly—and as a result—James Comer says he could be a hero— But the blowback on Hunter, Dad and the entire clan—could be damaging—it could be a disaster for the entire Democrat Party in a way we have not seen in recent years—this could be a real game changer—and that's why the Democrats are getting their talking points in order—and rehearsing them already— So it was Donald Trump that weaponized the DOJ and went after his political enemies? Can I get some examples of that please? That was the biggest pile of horse manure I've heard in awhile—and that is quite something—it seems to me that the Blue Team is frightened—and they know the damage that can come from Devon Archers testimony—and of course this comes on the heels of the Delaware Disaster—where the sugar sweet plea deal got tossed out by the judge—for a blanket immunity deal that she refused to accept— So that is going to get re-negotiated—and returned to the courtroom in about a month or so—BUT by then the wheels may come off—because the Hunter Biden story instead of going away—got a whole lot bigger with that mess— Of course that is the part of the story—where Hunter and the entire Biden family have tried to pretend that a daughter he has with a former girlfriend—is actually his— But I digress— The real meltdown was inside the courtroom—and the real problem for the Bidens is everything that could lead too—so why did the judge say no? And whether or not Democrats are willing to tell the truth—there are plenty of people willing to step up and do it— And when you look—the amount of money that may have flowed in to the Biden's bank accounts is absolutely obscene from all of this— And that of course can only lead to one outcome—as long as Republicans are in the majority—and that is not a place Dems want to be in an election cycle with The White House on the line— So the flailing continues—and the circling of wagons continues—because Democrats know—that the guy they sold as a moderate united—is in fact a far left hack—and a completely dishonest one at that—and that is going to be really hard to get the stink off by November— But how about just one more denial—from Dementia in Chief—Joe Biden—
